  1. As far as I know it was just collateral damage from the removal of the achievements system?
  2. It existed for a bit after the achievement system came out (The 1 that suggested what you should do next- around in 2010) it said "congratulations you have finished the game, now go outside". Or if you were ftp it said "Congratulations you have finished the free game, take a break, go outside, then complete the full game!" Yay factoids
  3. How can a community become ONE community, if there are these kind of people, who think that it's not allowed to make jokes about them? Go offend a hetero person, he either laughs or offends you back, go offend a gay person, he either laughs or offends you back. Sexuality or skin colour or w/e else shouldn't be an excuse not to joke about them, because otherwise the community will never evolve. That's my opinion Did you actually just write that? I don't post very often, but this has pissed me off. I genuinely cannot believe that someone has just suggested that a community "evolves" by making discriminatory jokes more socially acceptable. Every time you make a joke about someone's race, sex or sexual orientation you are reinforcing negative stereotypes. I can't believe noone has challenged this guy. http://news.bbc.co.u...all/9373280.stm Oh yeah he was just joking, so it's fine. It's fine to claim that women don't understand the offside rule, because they're women. I mean really, HOW can our community become one community when there are people that find that sort of stuff offensive? [/sarcasm] Attitudes like yours are the reason that there is real inequality between the sexes. You may claim that it's "just a joke", but if you keep making jokes about certain groups of people being inferior, you might start actually believing it. "One should be man enough to ignore it, lol". Wow. "They're just words." Seriously? Have you ever been verbally/emotionally bullied in your life? Never been the butt of a joke that everyone else laughed at but you were slightly upset by? If you haven't you've been pretty lucky your whole life. I'd like to think society is past the days where people thought words couldn't hurt someone. Go and google "cyberbullying suicide", come back and say "they're just words." I realise that was completely off topic and outside the sphere of Runescape, but don't go around saying people should man up and that "they're just words". That's an exceedingly ignorant thing to say. OT: I see merits to both sides of the argument. While private chat is obviously private, it should be noted that if you private is on, random people can message you something hurtful and/or offensive. Obviously you can turn private to friends only, but it seems a tad ridiculous that people are complaining about not being able to make racist/sexist/homophobic comments to each other over private message. Take a step back and challenge yourself to think of insults that aren't derogatory to a specific group of people. I would go off on a huge rant but I'm not the best with words (maths degree) and I'm kind of tired. I'm sure people will come and tear my argument to shreds/pick out little parts of it and tear them to shreds. Hopefully people can at least agree that discriminatory jokes actually aren't ok, and we shouldn't just "ignore" it, and that words aren't really "just words". I agree with you - when the words are used to discriminate. When they're casually used amongst a circle of friends, ie calling someone gay when you both know they are not, the words have lost their meaning, and I don't see a problem. What people keep mentioning is a kind of collateral offense, whereby a person who would be the target of such words would stumble across them - and this can be avoided by not using them in public chat. As regards playing with private chat on, and people then being able to insult you, yes I agree, by all means institute the auto-mute/censor on non-mutual friendships. (Practically, it would need a cooldown so I don't just delete someone before they swear at me to force a mute...)
  4. This topic was about PRIVATE conversations. Besides, I used to get verbally assaulted frequently in RS, as does everyone, and that honestly wasn't the clincher when I quit..
  5. But for all intents & purposes, it doesn't have homophobic connotations. That's something projected by you, alien to the converstation, and really highlights the problem with external moderation of private conversation.
  6. Now I know this is a far fetched thing to say, but where exactly does it say homosexuals are killing themselves because someone used a term, previously assosicated with homophobia, in a way that was entirely not homophobic? Even from a pragmatic point, it's better for people to use the word trivially, than to stow it away as a bad word and later use it pointedly to hurt. If you want no derogatory discriminatory term, then generalise it to the extinction of its previous meaning. With the quaintly censored kitty-footing, I was referring to another post where it was suggesting we should be careful making jokes about homosexuals - treat them differently because of their past experiences. Positive discrimination is still discrimination. I'm not saying I don't appreciate gay people have a problem with being accepted, just that using a homophobic term (with zero homophobic intent, in private) isn't adding to the problem, and it in my opinion just dilutes the meaning of the word.
  7. I think there's a difference to be noted here between homophobic language or words, and language, or words, also used by homophobes. The word gay could just as well be classed as homophobic language on this basis, but is gay a homophobic word? I personally think using "the word in the screen shot" shows a ridicule of the term, and how unimportant and inoffensive the word actually is. (In that private circle of friends, but I'd better be careful lest I end up back on topic..) Edit @ above Well I do have to disagree there. True equality is not people [kitty]-footing around the gay populace's feelings, and asking people to treat homosexuals differently like that is only going to further segregate people. Besides, who's going to tell us when we can stop sparing their feelings?
  8. Yes they are. Going from 2m+ at noon here to 600k- now. I wonder what prices phats will have when dropped... Stood ready clicking for someone to die at Vannaka slayer master earlier today, free full rune and dds. (hate it to realise I could have had a berserker ring or a black mask from that same pile.......... ) Presumably crackers will be dropped, and a large amount of, for lack of a better word, 'clever-dicks' will not crack their crackers. Then with those that are cracked, we have to see how the prices settle between the different colours, given that this time, purples (pink) will be rarest, and blues one of the more common..
  9. Didn't they change it recently so you don't get XP 'splats' for skills in which you have 200M XP? And perhaps by extension preventing their addition to XP counters.
  10. i don't think that, he used to play proefficiently everday for years.these few months, maybe a year won't burn him out i think He may have been proficient in his playing for many years, but he did to my recollection burn out, before hitting the 'big leagues'. Are you trying to say I'll quit before I even max? You even admitted that I played proficiently for "many years." Why do you think playing for 7-8 months to max total is a problem for me at all? Also, I don't consider myself to have burnt out of runescape. What triggered me quitting was the refer a friend for bonus xp update, not any psycological change that I went through. Was not *trying* to say anything, and I think I spoke clearly. But no need for animosity, there was no hostility in my posts, nor offence intended. I think the incentive to max is going to dwindle as time passes, and frankly who knows, maybe 07 will get its own "Refer a Friend" update. Time will tell anyway.

  12. Blood burst/barrage are GLORIOUS. I'm not sure if they've updated it in this version, but blood spells always used to heal what you *would* hit, not what you *did* hit. Meaning when you get a 2x45 wave, and split them into their smaller versions, you've got 4 npcs, and even though they have 10 hp only, you can heal up to 7-9 hp off each of them. Though since purple sweets came out, it's a trivial benefit so up to you really. Definitely recommend you practice prayer flashing 360s.
  13. I personally think foot will burn out.
  14. That's how they're intended to look now lol Example screenshot plx.
  15. Well, out of some spare time, here is the set of oldshool icons, as a sprite - vertically centred and on a 35px horizontal grid, on transparent background For anyone who ever may have need for them! E: this version is better, a few pixels were on vacation in the last version.. E2: Forgot overall.
  16. The old ones can look nice too.
  17. On a design note, why does it use the updated live game skill icons? :/
  18. Thanks for the tip, though not an active player myself, you may have saved someone else a great deal of upset. :)
  19. Suggesting people wanted the game for its grinding. I'd have been happy if it was a cheat server where I could type ::meleestats 60 99 70 I think they have those Of course, you shouldn't use them because they're against the rules. Ok I thought it was implied in my post that it would be Jagex hosted. Like they actually said they were considering to do with RSC.
