  1. Wow, whole page because someone can't take a joke. Maybe the thread could be about 99 in all skills for a while instead of Jebrim's narcissism?
  2. If you don't kill a brother you don't get the option to get their loot... So, if you killed 1 brother and 13 skeletons, you'd have the same chance of receiving any of that specific brothers loot, but this of course is 1/6th the chance of ANY barrows item if you had all 6 brothers. Hmm i just read through the first dozen pages of the forum dean was on and it's worth noting they're talking about EOC barrows which has been through several changes... I've always thought kill brothers only and you get roughly 1/16 chance of item... Monsters just give runes... The "digging through" element I thought implied ancient code.
  3. I saw someone training in a room full of skeles in the yanille dungeon, through an obstacle pipe near those chaos druids. There's also the ring of visibility dungeon from desert treasure. Also presumably the room full of 'rapidly spawning undead monsters' which requires the bone key from shilo village... Brought to my attention by the recent poll about reaquiring the key after quest. Maybe even the small horde of undead by the cart at the entrance, though not sure on their levels... There's also the skeleton room in barrows, though they can hit pretty hard depending on your stats. By zombie monkeys I presume this encompasses the skeleton monkeys as well?
  4. Aye patched, and the patch incorrectly (?) implies that a charge degrades over time.
  5. I think it is easy for Jagex to become accustomed to extra money. So I think before things get really bad, they would start updating maniacly to try and bring in new playerbase and keep the old one. I also think there is a diehard core of the playerbase, that won't be going anytime soon.
  6. So it's not triggered by attempting to open the chest naturally? It just happens when you're normally checking chest for traps? It's thievings tree ent/smoking rock.
  7. Skill was always present in bossing. For example at bandos boss solo with divine, you could be there on 200 hp, watching your prayer points - if they went down it meant a koing hit was incoming, and you'd need to brew, otherwise you could continue risking so you could SS back the hp on minions without needing to dip into your supplies. Similarly with timing brews to your overload timer. Making sure your overloads, overall cost you no hp to use. Or a personal favourite was corporeal beast, but without losing a single attack turn throughout the fight, without lowered stats. This meant brewing only before the overload restore timer, and living the rest of the fight off soulsplit & summoning potions. There was a huge amount of skill involved there, and I can tell you that from experience at corporeal beast ffa back then. In an 8 man team, I would get 90% of the kills per trip. More than clicking the boss and alt-tabbing, and it was a huge amount of fun. Looking further back in time, sara soloing before the room was shrunk. That was a highly skilled boss fight. You'd ko one mini you'd redbarred on the previous kill, go to the other minis safewall, safely kill the mage, and redbar the remaining minion to repeat for the next fight. The old system required a lot of skill. Edit: Mind you most of what I just was talking about was in runescape before HP became constitution, so I probably didn't have access to the things that made it as easy as you imply.
  8. Too much time near those fires, your firecape looks thoroughly charred.
  9. Your last point is interesting. Also I think at lev 95 you get an extra def level from sara brews...
  10. Not even true because if you were doing that you'd rely on spec weapons (that are better in every way with strength gear) or range anyway. Not necessarily, since in W6 bandos, you had time for 1 hit...that's it. That's all you had. Accuracy was much more important as a result. No one ranging got any bandos kills in w6 I can assure you that "Peli Kan 2" as a lev 79, 1 defence pure with d-bow got quite a few w6 bandos kills.
  11. Yup, though in oldschool the rare drop table is significantly smaller. Uncut Gems/half keys 3000 coins Nature Talismans/Chaos talismans Rune Spear, 2h, baxe, kite, sq Dragon med, left half, spear 45 Laws, 45 deaths, 67 Nats 42 Rune Arrows, 5 Rune Javelins 100 Silver Ore Is there anything I have forgotten?
  12. That there is an example of one of the things I missed so badly when they removed free trade. The days little surprises. Going and picking up a stack of runes when you see it in the bank knowing it could be absolutely any amount. Rather than after free trade removal, knowing it could not be more than 3k gp value. On a similar note not being able to one day get incredibly lucky and pk a partyhat, or happen to be in the right place at the right time as an afker dies to a random. But I'm waffling..
  13. Because otherwise it'll stagnate.
  14. I dunno I'm noticing a severe absence of the 'buy now' button...
  15. Record any of it? Just you normally post a video even when you lose. [hide=vid] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-oAWGN_m8wY[/hide] Not that exciting just proof if you like of me losing it/explaining what doing now, was not going to bother posting on tif. Fight those allegations... Just curious, where was the glitching? I am actually quite surprised that the duel arena *seems* to have been relatively glitch free?
  16. Some people type with one finger though. My 5 minute solution is far from optimal and I'd like to hear other peoples opinions on ways it could be better. Platinum, this could be alongside a more permanent toggle of the abilities bar. So if you are reciting Shakespeare there need not be accidental ability usage mid-sonnet. It's an interesting problem. A human could tell the difference between someone trying to type and someone trying to use abilities, in almost all cases bar a few ambiguous ones.. So it should be possible to do it programmatically. + it's nice when a program can intuit what you want to do, with seemingly no interaction from you. It's shiny and feels nice to use..
  17. Then the issue is with weapons which can put out obscene amounts of damage in a given time, not with the actual mechanics of the wilderness. I have not pked much in this version of RS, but in the past, the worst part of being pjed wasn't the chance of death, just the interruption to your fight. Back in the era of PvP worlds, I missed out on so many kills, seeing an 8-8 hit me as I went in for the 2nd special attack. I used to die maybe 1/50 times being pjed, and dying was just a slight sting in the tail.
  18. Likewise. The huge amount of support suggests Jagex are really gauging well the playerbase. Impressive.
  19. If this were mine to fix, I would make it so for example you have 1234asdf bound to action bar. You start to type "See, this can work". Typin the S tries to fire the ability, the e-e-space- doesn't fire anything on the action bar, so it's pasted into your chat bar "See-" and you are able to continue typing the rest of your message. Basically there is a great difference between typing, and between using the action bar. It should allow for an intuitive effortless switch. Using the 3-strike rule mentioned above, it allows for 3 'mistypes' so it shouldn't infuriatingly switch you into chat-mode mid boss. Jagex definitely have access to the beginning 3 characters of many millions of sentences, and these could be used programmatically to find the pattern to toggle between action bar, and chat. Of course, if you should choose to have your action bar bound as lolololol, then you will lose this functionality for any sentences beginning with 'lol'.
  20. It's more that death, losing a fire cape should be an important thing. For some people it may require a liquidation of their bank to buy specialist gear to get another firecape. I know some see this as a bad thing, but I think it's great that a real risk accompanies losing your firecape. All this discussion is a bit superfluous, as the reasons for 'unstackable' fire-capes are the exact same reasons proposed for making them 'stackable'.
  21. Gaining money isn't factored into the calculations, as it's assumed that 99 RC will pay for the rest of your skills. (And whatever dribs and drabs of profit you may get from other skills) The richest person would be slightly more close, in that they could afford to do RC much more efficiently by using runners, or making combo runes. But that route incurs the wrath of Jebrim...
  22. I agree so much with this post, and point to it when Vinyl/Powerfrog asked me why I dislike those three updates. It is personally preference that I always hated the flashing skill icon thing. If you truly want to know better what you can do at a new level, I'd be happy with the game to spit out into the chat-box a list of what you can do now after levelling up. I also thing that's more possible with the development team crippled as they are. As far as ectophial, I think that it's a free limitless teleport, there should be some charge, and that happens to be remembering to click to refill it. And like Saradomin Mage says, once you forget it once, you don't forget it again. I can understand these being annoyances, especially if you've played the modern version of the game, and you are used to it autorefilling. But it really isn't that big of a problem, and I dislike the hand-holding approach the game took. And yes, losing firecape is a bad thing. You should feel bad. You should have to go and toil through the caves oncemore to get a new one, or use a legends cape until you are ready to. That's just something I "grew up with", and I like it very much. It's a step away from the instant gratification way of making the game. Yes you may have toiled to get your spare firecape a few weeks ago, but when you needed a new one, it's there instantly for you, and I think that mentality is detrimental to the game. Using a fire-cape should mean you are risking 1-2 hours of your time, right now. Not 1-2 hours of time you've already spent, and forgotten about. These risk-removal updates are imo a step towards gravestones. I am not saying 07RS should be a snapshot of 07 July, set in stone to never change. I'm just very wary of the updates that would lead it down the same path again.
