Avatar request
*is being ninja and posting when she's not really about* I'll work on it, it being a head, I should have it done in about a month or so... Nah, but it'll get done when I've got time. Are you for or against it being computer colored, or do you want colored pencil type thing? Or sketched... I'ma start by doing a sketched one, as I want to practice that. Then I'll do a lineart and color it however you pick.

Ask your questions or sig resizing here!
That helps, maybe I'm looking for some sort of experimenting suggestion thingy too?... I dunno, a beginner's tut for pencil sketching.

Ask your questions or sig resizing here!
General 'explain to me exactly how/why/what i do with the different hardnesses of sketching pencils' tut please. I just got a set of them, from 6H to 2B and have no idea really what to do with them.

Diabetes
CW? And why am I not? I read all of that particular article, and also the definition of the diet/lifestyle, so please explain to me the reasoning behind the whole insulin thing. You'd think if there was something that was legitimate, I would have heard about it over the course of the seven years I've been living with diabetes.

Request - Robe design
Yes, I will be working on this, but probably won't be able to get it to you anytime soon.

Can anyone give me some tutorials on using different hardnesses/whatevers of pencils? I've got a small set now, ranging from 6H to 2B I believe.

Diabetes
Regarding the PaNu thing or whatever: This is complete bullcrap. Your doctor isn't going to give you a strict diet from the ADA. Your doctor is going to, optimally, teach you carb counting or to use the exchange system. The 'inherent lack of precision of injected insulin' is also crap. Maybe in the 50's that was the problem, but now we have synthesized insulins with different known active durations and peaks. Everyone's sensitivity to insulin is different, but once you know your number, you know exactly how much insulin you should give yourself. Of course, it'll change over time, but you'll know when it does and how to fix it. Eating mostly fatty acids, especially animal-based ones, is going to cause you other problems as well. I am on a pump. Over the course of this day I have eaten a probably normal diet for most teenagers, consisting of 3 meals and a lot of random snacks, including some cookies and candy. I have used about 50 units of insulin for all of my food. This is not a 'massive amount' of insulin, and had I wanted to have a killer headache, I could probably have given myself as little as 10 units over the course of the day and been fine, less the headache and risk of damage to myself over time. In all, the only reason this diet helps slow/get rid of TYPE 2 diabetes is because it is low in carbs and fats are naturally easier to absorb into the body. However, carbohydrates are the true useful source of energy for our bodies and you are expending a lot of extra energy in burning fat to get your calories; this diet only works if you are an active person (many type 2s aren't). Please explain his thoughts on 'damage done by insulin' as it makes absolutely no sense.

Request - Robe design
McCall's 3789 looks to be the pattern and design you need; just use the inner tunic pattern, then if you wanted to, you could use 'Gandalf's' cape robe thing; otherwise find a 'quick and easy' bathrobe pattern, that's what I used for a Jedi robe pattern. Link to the tunic/Gandalf style robe: http://sewing.patternreview.com/patterns/2554 How to sew a bathrobe: http://www.ehow.com/how_2123480_sew-bathrobe.html If you still want a drawing, I can do that too, just PM me before 7PM EST today (preferably, because after that I'll probably be off and tomorrow I'm leaving)

Old school pixel sigs [HD]
I think in that respect, it would be really useful if you made a 'tutorial' that just consisted of the steps you take in making a pixel, with various tangents as you see fit; like zoom in when you are pixelling one part, but when you do the rest of it the same way, just show that you did that. I dunno if that makes sense... What I'm trying to say is take a series of WIP pics and then post them together.

Nintendo's Mario vs Sega's Sonic.
Mario, because I've never liked Sonic. He was second. And I'd argue that recent Mario games aren't complete crap... But the most recent one I've played, New Super Mario Bros. DS is from 2006... Plus Mario Kart Wii, but that game has some serious flaws (go from 1st to last in a matter of seconds? no thanks.) Super Paper Mario = quite possibly the best mario game. I want a DS version now. Also Nintendo is miles better than Sega.

What has OT Taught you
1. Changed from being kind of meh about religion to defining myself as agnostic, and I'm currently leaning for atheism. 2. Realized the Internet is full of liberals who don't care squat about having a logical argument. 3. There are liberals who hate Obama. 4. Discovered DeviantART through Tif, I believe. Also GIMP and Firefox. Plus a load of slightly disturbing things, some slightly useful things, and the fact that I'm not the only one who wets the toothbrush, puts paste on it, then gets it wet again. :P

Orc - Finished
Here is the finished Orc, I am quite happy with it save the axe; I think the angle's off a bit but I don't care at this point. I've started on a Hound Archon (ref pic: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/MM35_gallery/MM35_PG18.jpg ) drawing, here's the first sketch:

Orc - Finished
I've almost finished it today, haven't had time to scan it though. @Smellysocks: I've been referencing a pic out of a D&D book, save a couple of the details. Also, I use a generic 2HB .7mm mechanical pencil for pretty much everything, unless I'm inking it. I'll remember about adding interest by not having exact symmetry.

Loved the second one, those are my favorite kinds of articles, the morally questioning 'but we're in a video game' kind.

Jak & Daxter signature tutorial
My result is my current sig; I must say it turned out very nicely, and I only had a few issues with adapting it to teh GIMP.

Give a man a fish; you have fed him for today. Teach a man to fish; and you have fed him for a lifetime
My thoughts on the matter can be summed up in two great quotes: "The best government is the government that governs the least." - Thomas Jefferson "The government big enough to give you everything is eventually big enough to take everything from you." - Gerald R. Ford The only reasons a 'federal' level government exists is to provide for the common defense in the form of an army, navy, air force, etc. Local governments should exist to provide fire and police protection, and to provide common standards for education, road upkeep, and other things essential to the success of the area. I fully agree with this. No one should be given fish.

I think it's a nice tut, I need to try it, maybe today I will.

Diabetes
When your body has a lack of insulin (and therefore energy), it tries to first get more sugar into the bloodstream, so the kidneys put out lots of sugar. After it realizes that's not working, it starts burning fat and muscle to get energy, and you get very thirsty because it is now trying to get the sugar out of the bloodstream in the only way it can, through the urine. If you have never heard of diabetes, you don't know that drinking sugared soda is going to make it worse, you're just insanely thirsty and will drink anything you can get your hands on.

Spring Break
The end of next week marks the start of spring break for me. I'm going to Chicago, home of many LEGO stores. In lieu of Easter junk, my parents have offered to buy me something there; I have gladly agreed. I want to buy a pound of Lego bricks. In case you're wondering about my random absences, I joined the school soccer team this year and it's taking a lot of my time. Not much else to say.

Nintendo.
I'm kind of mad about all this 'let's release 3 nearly identical handhelds within 2 years of each other thing' (DSi, DSi XL, and now this) and don't think I'll be buying it. I've got a DSi and I thought I was going to be able to stay 'on top' of the Nintendo market for a while with it, and now they're putting this thing out. I've never liked 3-D stuff and I don't think it's going to do that well, at least here in the US. I buy Nintendo because I really hate Microsoft, the PSP, and don't like FPSs or the more 'serious' titles. Plus I love Mario, Link, Kirby, etc. and all of Nintendo's great classics.

Diabetes
Uhh, hate to say it but consuming "6L of cola a day" might be considered an environmental factor. He's referring to the fact that when his blood sugar was really high prior to diagnosis, he was extremely thirsty; not that he normally drank 6L of cola a day.

Looking for a New Game? Ask Here!
I want a new either long/good replay or open-ended DS game. I like most things, so just about anything would be good. I have New Super Mario Bros., Scribblenauts, LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga, and LEGO Rock Band. I own a DSi, so no Guitar Hero games. I've got $35 to spend, so any DS game should be fine. The games need to be out or come out prior to April, as I'm getting this for a trip. I'm looking at KORG DS-10 Plus, Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver, Kirby Super Star Ultra, or possibly Rhythm Heaven. DSiWare would be fine too. Suggestions on which one to get, or an entirely different one?
