Like other people are saying, Vitamin Water has just as many calories/carbs as regular Mountain Dew. And Diet Mountain Dew isn't that bad for you. Generally aspartame (which is the sweetener used in Mtn Dew) does not create GI problems. The only artificial sweetener suggested to do that is sucralose (aka Splenda, which is in any sort of Diet Rite pop). If you're having other problems (like sleeping ones), I'd suggest trying the caffeine-free version. (I'ma make a thread about all this 'diet pop is bad for you nonsense'.) Cut out the Ramen, or only use like half of the seasoning packet, that's where all the bad stuff is, if you just eat the pasta, it's just carbs. Venison = good lean TASTY meat. Keep at it. As for the Frosted Flakes, they're not horrible for you, but try to follow the portion sizes (1 cup cereal and 1/2 milk) and use 1/2% or skim milk. Like someone else said, keep track of what you eat daily, even if it's only for like 3 days. You can get a good approximation of what you eat and what you need to get rid of and such.
  2. I thought the first one was pretty interesting until I got to the end and it wasn't real. <_< Second one was short and kind of random. Missed fictional article.

  4. The mountains in South America seem to stick out a lot because they're white and the rest of it is rather dark. From the way the light falls it ought to be like this, but to me it looks weird.
  5. Like someone else said, do you want your kids looking up to someone who commits adultery? Do you want a president who did drugs, was an alcoholic, smoked, or still does? I certainly don't want either of these things. Celebrities and in general famous people need to get used to this. If they've never done anything bad, they've got nothing to worry about! I think they should be able to do whatever they want and should certainly have access into anything related to politics they want/have a reason to want. That's the whole point of the First Amendment. If you've done something illegal, you should be prepared for them to dig it up and proclaim it to the world.
  6. "AMG I leave for four days and it turns into a crazy house... This is why I wasn't involved in any of the previous games... Ah well. I'll figure something out."
  7. Due to real-life stuff going on and the fact that I haven't made a decent render sig in months, I'm going to leave the shop... I'll edit it so it's Soa/Pirate though.

So I really hate traditional skis. And maybe it's just because I use the clunky rental ones they give you. But I don't want to have a 158cm ski attached to my foot, I've already got knee problems. (and I fall coming off the lift a lot...) I've read a little into twin-tips and ski blades and skiboards. Are twin-tips any shorter than the traditional ones? What is the difference between the three? And is there a good way to find out what size I'd need and a place to acquire said skis cheaply? I [ice]skate a lot, so I realize that skiing (on flat ground at least) is very similar to skating, so I think that shorter skis would do me a lot of good.
  9. Suggestions to Make RuneScape More Role Player Friendly This is very much a work-in-progress, but I hope we can come up with some useful and smart ways to help RuneScape support role-players. Table of Contents What is Role-Playing? (And isn't RS an RPG?) Why does RuneScape need to be RP-friendly? How RuneScape can become more RP-friendly Forums Adding Game Content Changing Game Content[*] A 'Roleplaying Account' & Server Designations [*]Suggestions Overview [*] FAQ [*] Updates/Notes [*] Credits, Contributors, Supporters 1. What is Role Playing? Isn't RuneScape a Roleplaying Game? See the Wikipedia article on Roleplaying. Essentially, roleplaying (in the sense of a game) is taking on a persona of a character and pretending you are that character. The character is often highly detailed and has certain quirks and personal likes and dislikes. The person behind the character plays out how the character reacts to different situations, in addition to conducting combat and training. Which is why RuneScape can be both a roleplaying game, and just a game (Jagex has changed the description from a MMORPG to a 'massive online adventure game'.). In the traditional sense of roleplays, the pen-and-paper kind, you develop a personality for the character in addition to training and fighting. This is an optional component in RS, and one that you really need more than just you to play along. 2. Why Does RuneScape Need to be More Role Player Friendly? As RS is currently, there's not much to offer in the way of roleplaying in the world's biggest free-to-play online game. This is one rather large aspect they don't really cater to. There is are large numbers of said roleplayers who may already be playing the game, but want to play a more immersive version of the game. They want to play with other people who know the history of Gilenor, who have characters who have a history in the game. Like I mentioned before, catering to RPers is one area of gaming (and the communities surrounding RS) that Jagex doesn't provide a lot for in way of the game. They have recently expanded the lores of Gilenor and offered more quests that give background, but they haven't created an easy way for players to get this information across and actually use it ingame in terms of roleplaying. 3. How RuneScape Can Become More Role Player Friendly: 3a. Forums There is much to be added in the way of supporting RPers with the RSOF. Considering they have the world created for them already, all that is required is a system of forums and subforums which create a world in which players can immerse themselves while not playing the game. Since it's the same world and account, skills and the like could be (semi) attached. If you gain a level ingame, your level in the forum version will also go up. This could get unwieldy, so your thoughts are appreciated. Also allowing for user-written histories and lores which parallel the official ones would offer more material for players to use. A player could also develop a library full of specific source information, such as one for a zealous follower of Zaros. Character sheets or personality references could also be posted, and then players could find others who they think would make interesting adventuring companions and things like that. 3b. Adding Game Content Much like the Dice, Voting Hat, and Magic Skullball were added specifically for clans, here I'd like to collect some items which could help ingame roleplayers. The dice are useful if you are metagaming, however, if you're really RPing, you let the combat system do its work. Suggestions appreciated. 3c. Changing Game Content Or making future content in a different way. What I mean by this is make options in quests that actually change the outcome of the quest. Currently, in all the quests (correct me if I'm wrong), you get the same reward and the same outcome no matter which choices you made during the quest. A more dynamic and player-involving quest system is in order. Players could have the option of playing the original quest, then 'replaying' the new version with a roleplaying bent. The quest points involved would only count for the traditional (original) quest, or if they had a 'roleplaying account' they get points for the roleplay version. 4. A 'Roleplaying Account' & Server Additions This would be a way you could designate your account for roleplaying. In your settings menu you could select traditional play or roleplaying. If you select roleplaying, you have a small die designator in front of your name when you talk (except on roleplaying servers). Roleplaying accounts would have a special tab (perhaps always there, and only clickable when your account is designated roleplayer) in which you can select things like your age, religion, and a place to select 3 main personality quirks. Obviously we're still limited to only humans, so race is redundant. Religion is limited to ingame deities. To prevent offensive remarks, the personality/bio would be limited to 3 which could be selected from drop-down menus and would vary from 'Has a scar' to 'Speaks Elvish' and such. The trademark item would also be selectable here, and would be limited to items currently on your person. You also have the option of selecting a 'trademark item', which is something you always wear (like a rare hat or a prized weapon). When you die, this item would be protected no matter what, and would cut into your 3-item limit (so instead of your 3 most valuable items, it'd be your trademark item and your 2 most valuable items). The Roleplaying Account would have server limitations. You must be on a Roleplaying Account to log into a roleplaying server. In addition to World 42 (P2P), World 43 (F2P) would be made a Roleplaying World. With more response, more worlds could be made Roleplaying worlds; I haven't looked into ideal worlds yet. A Roleplaying Account may not log into a PvP server with a 'trademark item'; they will be warned that they will lose it (and everything else they're carrying) upon death. Add an option for IC [in-Character] /OOC [Out-of-Character] Worlds and IC Worlds (where a filter would be applied for 'Ye Olde English'). (Thanks to dv_trainer!) 5. Suggestions Overview If the above was TL;DR this is for you. Forums:[/b] Add a roleplaying area designed with areas of Gilenor User-created histories and lores that are accurate Character reference area for players to post their personality, bio, etc. Adding Game Content: Items like the Dice Bag, Magic Skullball, and Voting Hat designed for roleplayers Suggestions accepted. Changing Game Content: Add options that change the outcome/reward of the quest. Have two versions available, the original and the 'custom'. Players can complete either quest or both, but will only get the Quest Points for completion of one quest. How the reward is decided is unclear as of yet. 'Roleplaying Account' & Server Designations: Players can designate their account as roleplaying. Gets certain additions to add to RP-style gameplay. Adds a 'trademark item' which is not lost on death under normal circumstances. 43 (F2P) would also be designated Roleplaying. Your account must be Roleplaying to log into a roleplaying server. Add IC/OOC designators and one world strictly IC. 6. FAQ None yet, so ask some! 7. Updates/Notes Most Recent: Suggestion Posted 1/3/10 [spoiler=Archived Updates] Suggestion Posted 1/3/10 Added IC/OOC World idea from dv_trainer 2/8/10 8. 10. The door bangs open with a... well, a bang. The unknown figure comes inside and seats himself in an empty chair in the corner. Hex's face lights up ever so slightly, so the others know not to worry. "Don't worry about me. I'm just along for the ride, although I do think I should introduce myself. I'm Hawk, although I haven't been around here much lately."

  12. Great articles this week! I loved the article on roleplaying in RS. I have always thought that there needed to be a F2P designated RPing server. This has (along with something else I don't remember) encouraged me to start DMing again... It'll be a bit though. I think I'll write up something about ways to increase rping... for suggestions. About RS being recession-proof, that was interesting. It makes sense that people would take on 'cheaper' entertainment (rather than go on cruises) when they don't have money, and a computer is something most people already have. Zonorhc's fiction was awesome. Looking forward to the next part.

Yeah. I would assume since you're exercising and such, you're okay (and it's just your nice teenage metabolism) BUT: If you are drinking lots of water, going to the bathroom a lot Have headaches, fatigue, weakness, etc. Breath smells funky Have flu-like symptoms (Worst comes to worst) Or you start puking everything you eat, can't eat anything Those are signs of DKA (Diabetic Ketoacidtosis), aka really high blood sugar because you need insulin. Go to a doctor and at least get a finger[puncture] blood glucose test, then they can tell you if you have diabetes or have elevated blood sugar. I have type 1 diabetes, had it for like 8 years now...

Welcome to the Hotel California! Methinks the first two are the same... And I like them the best of the five. The second-to-last one is nice too, originally I wrote it off because the trees were kind of random in the corner there... And I dun like random people in pretty pictures of mountains.
  15. With wireless internet, the way you get the wi-fi can change your speed; like if you have a cellular modem, which uses cellphone towers so you can essentially get internet anywhere, the speed/clarity of the connection varies as your cellphone signal would (in the middle of nowhere it's going to be slower to nonexistent). If you have an antenna on your house (we do, it gets the wi-fi broadcasted from the ISP) then that can be interfered with like (due to weather and building interference) satellite TV (although it drops out much less than the TV does). Like Laura said, distance from the router can change strength, and also what sort of device you're using it on. Our Wii can't get a very strong signal (two floors and two 8-inch concrete walls from the router) but the laptop (Dell Inspirion 4300 or something, with XP) can in the same location. Same with my DSi, it's faster and easier to get a connection the closer I am to the router, but it doesn't seem to be so with the laptop. (We've got a desktop [Win2000 YAY] that is wired to where the antenna feeds the wireless into the house, because it's too old to have a wireless card in it... :P) We can sit on our front porch with the laptop and access the internet, but it doesn't go much farther. I've tried with my DSi and I can't get anything once I'm out of the garage. I've heard stories of people with wi-fi who have other people 'hacking' it... ie purposely using it even though they aren't paying for it if it's not password protected. We live in the middle of nowhere, so that's not really a problem. If it seems really slow, call up your ISP and ask them about it. For a week out internet was awful. If we pinged something, it ran the request through like 5 myspace servers before getting to where it was supposed to go. Obviously, it was the ISP's problem, and they fixed it... Our ISP is not particularly amazing, the only reason we have it is because they're the only people who can semi-cheaply (still $50 a month) serve our area with anything faster than dial-up.
  16. Firefox should come with a google toolbar. Right-click in the toolbar area and select 'Customize'. Then put the search bar somewhere in your menubar things. Otherwise, you can also download an addon that adds a google toolbar to FF, although you shouldn't need it.
  17. Regarding random events: Any computer-run system cannot be truly random. Computers run with numbers, and every random event has some number attached to it, so when the game decides it's time for a random, it can choose an event. Drops and random events run on similar systems, they have to in order to be run by computer. There's just as much possibility of a charm that increases/decreases randoms as there is of one that increases the chance of getting a good drop. Regarding members' items: Maybe design some and ask for someone with knowledge to offer stats?

To the original question: Yes I would. This also brings up more things, like the question of science. Those who truly believe we have no free will by the will of god should be able to believe that any scientific discovery made is by the will of god and as such should not be repressed; but most don't. In Angels and Demons there's a scientist working at CERN who is also a Catholic priest of some sort. He discovers antimatter and feels that it was by the will of god. Then he gets killed by some guys who want to use it to blow up the Vatican (and who don't believe in god in this way). Humans are, by nature, chaotic. As a species, we have the good people, the bad people, and the people who only work for their own benefit. (Which brings up the whole good vs. evil bit). Due to the chaos of the general world I think that, if you are agnostic/atheist, you would be willing to act in whichever way you wanted at the given time; you are truly 'chaotic'. (You can still have values which govern your decisions, but you're more rational in your thought; you're not going to jump off a cliff because god told you to.) If you follow a deity, you don't have that true choice; you must follow your religion. You can think that you have a choice, but in following a god, you have made the one choice that you 'can' (it can be said that you can't even make that choice). [spoiler=Lyrics to 'Freewill' by Rush] There are those who think that life has nothing left to chance take, A host of holy horrors to direct our aimless dance. A planet of playthings, We dance on the strings Of powers we cannot perceive "The stars aren't aligned, Or the gods are malign..." Blame is better to give than receive. Chorus You can choose a ready guide in some celestial voice. If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice. You can choose from phantom fears and kindness that can kill; I will choose a path that's clear I will choose freewill. There are those who think that they were dealt a losing hand, The cards were stacked against them; they weren't born in Lotusland. All preordained A prisoner in chains A victim of venomous fate. Kicked in the face, You can't pray for a place In heaven's unearthly estate. Chorus Each of us A cell of awareness Imperfect and incomplete. Genetic blends With uncertain ends On a fortune hunt that's far too fleet. Chorus I am agnostic, but I am leaning to atheist.

I've never had really bad acne, but it pops up from time to time... Mostly on my chin/under lip and my nose, plus where my glasses rub on my cheek. I've got some that won't go away on my chest/back too. If you get regular toothpaste, put a dab on it and it dries it up overnight; it burns a little though. Aloe vera works pretty well too, and it helps keep the skin from getting more oily.
  22. If I read it right, the mp3s are still on the external? Either way, there should be somewhere you can go into (the properties of the folder) and then the 'owner' tab. Change it to your admin name, and you should be able to edit the tags. I'm on a Win2000 atm, and on it the permissions are under 'Security' so that may also be it... Look into all of the permission options too, there might be something you need to change in there.
  23. I <3 papercraft. That's epic. Make a dragon one next?
  24. So for Xmas I got some Skullcandys which I really like. (Lowrider model, essentially smallish headphones that can fold and have individual wires to each speaker (no wire through headband)) I want to know want I ought not to do (besides not wrap the wire around the mp3) and if there is anything besides being careful with them that I can do to prolong the life of them. Link to the headphones on Skullcandy's website: http://www.skullcandy.com/shop/lowrider-green-black.html Also wondering if Ink'd earbuds or the Chops are a better choice. I've never owned a pair of in-ear buds that actually stay in... Anybody have this problem with other buds and can tell me if they work well or not?
  25. Why can't numbered lists When centered Be aligned by Number? See? All of the numbers aren't together. Can that be fixed By any way other than Making the number of characters In each line equal? Bullets Dun work Either. And it doesn't Work when Aligned right Either But in this case, That makes sense. Yeah. So is there some secret code I can put in to align all of the numbers/letters in an ordered (or unordered) list together, even when it's centered or aligned right?
