  1. Could you do a sig for me? I'd like something with my RS char, sitting under a tree, With a rune h4 kite and rune scimitar on the ground next to him. Not a great pic, link to shield ref: http://www.tip.it/runescape/index.php?rs2item_id=7816 A sunset would be nice, or otherwise a blue sky with a few puffy clouds. Text: hawk0078 (and if you can fit "The Holiday Hunter" that would be great!) <-no chainbody though. If you need another ref, just ask. ;) EDIT: If you do get around to doing this, his hair is now a turquoise color... When the time comes I can give you new refs if you need them.
  2. I'm sorry, I still don't get it... :? Perhaps italics or quotes could help? Or maybe just copy/paste the bits the officer says and the bits Tommy says so I can understand.
  3. Here's a plain blue starry bg: [hide=][/hide] And here's it with a planet in the lower right corner: [hide=][/hide] Hopefully you can use one of these!
  4. Take the pic again with AA turned off, on as high a detail as possible, preferably in an area with a green background. It'll make it easier to render, since the grey brick things blend with bits of the image. And save it as PNG.

So I've been attempting some tiny pixel art lately and I wanted your thoughts on it. These are pretty basic sprites for a simple game I've been (sort-of) working on. The dimensions are all 50x50, although the sprites themselves vary in size a bit. <-- Commoner. Side view is seriously messed up, I know... Any ideas on how to fix this? <--Warrior. Eye on side view is odd looking, should I make it black or go with a one/two pixel eye? <-- Mage. Side view is my favorite, currently my avatar on DA.
  6. It's interesting. I would have said go a little more mature and intersperse 'father' instead of always using 'dad', but he's only nine... And I think you spelled 'fleks' wrong, shouldn't it be 'flecks'? Wait, the beginning's confusing... His father was on his deathbed, but he was killed... Wasn't his head chopped off/eye stabbed out? (you make a reference to the king holding the father's head and begging forgiveness)

I'm going to try with this (http://planetrenders.net/renders/displa ... pos=-10134) render... It may or may not turn out well. Is it okay if there's a little lightish blue in there too? Ja oder nein? http://fc06.deviantart.com/fs43/f/2009/145/c/2/Avvy_for_Dark_Aura_2_by_hawkxs.jpg [img=http://fc03.deviantart.com/fs43/f/2009/145/3/2/Sig_for_Dark_Aura_2_by_hawkxs.jpg]
  8. I think if you put one topic in General Discussion in the RS part of the board, you might get more response, make sure you explain your motives to the mods (ie, say 'I put this in the Gallery, but they aren't very active in RS, and this has more to do with RS than art' or something like that)
  9. I felt that Stormrage's article was just repeating the same question over and over in different ways, and not really addressing the answer, I assume it was supposed to be more of a thought-provoking article, but it was quite awful... And rather pointless. I did actually read the fictional article, I thought the 'contempt for CLOSED signs' was a rather nice bit. But I'd rather have more articles to read, even if it means holding off for a week every once in a while (maybe don't go that far). I think the Times needs more writing talent in the form of guest writers... I know last week's guest writer was a fiasco, but that doesn't mean don't try again. Ask around; I'm sure there are people with the ideas and talent who just aren't writing because they figure no one will read it. I think that the forums as a whole are going kind of downhill and the Times is falling with them... I mean look at the posts: mostly one line, once again mostly relating to the same article... We need to get an exciting fictional article in there... (no offense to the fiction writers, it's good stuff but people don't read it) That will get people reading them. Perhaps a shorter installment is the way to go, I know people don't enjoy reading walls of text.
  10. [img=http://fc01.deviantart.com/fs42/f/2009/144/4/9/Sig_for_Murkinyamom_by_hawkxs.jpg] there you go. I don't play RS much so that's kind of pointless.
  11. Please answer a few questions, this will make this game much better: 1) What is your favorite MMORPG game? I guess RS 2) Why is it favorite? it's decent and it's free. 3) What is better: Evil winning/Good winning ? EVIL 4) What style of armor is better: BIG 'N SHINY 5) Do you prefere single player quests or team co-op quests? SINGLE 6) Do you prefere killing monsters, training skills or making quests? SKILLING 7) If you would be able to make MMORPG game, what features does it have? Random pop-culture/geek references
  12. I'd go with hawk0078 or maybe hawkxs (since I have both... ) but if hawk was availible I think I'd take it.
  13. Text? I'm going to make a pretty simple one, putting 99 Strength and your Tif username, is that good?
  14. Archi wanted something that would work very easily on almost every computer... And I guess all Microsoft comps have a DOS compiler in them. I know flash wouldn't work in dos, but it'd be easier for me than coding a ton of crap I think.

imo you're using an odd size... the sigs aren't awful, I just don't think there's enough space to really make an impression. (I would go with 350x110 or more in that range, they seem small because of the height.) They're rather small (or rather they seem small), as sigs go, and they lose my attention quickly. I would say sig 3 is the worst of the bunch, the lighting is pretty bad. The text is decent though. (I might have put it on the other side) On #1 the text is particularly bad, you could probably fix it by taking out the white lines in the bg, which are distracting anyway.
  16. I'm going to guess that the joke referring to MSPaint is using CTRL when you click on the zoom button to get like 800% (?) zoom?
  17. There are free Wii things in the Wii Shop Channel... there's no reason not to make it a free dl, if they don't almost no one will dl it because they can play for free on their computers... Though I wouldn't mind having it put in the DSiWare, I might pay to dl that.
  18. Is there a way I can download a demo of flash? I don't want to spend $300 on something I'll only use a bit (but I'm definately buying it once I go to college...)
  19. HEY YOU! More sprite-yness! Calculator sticker for a TI-84+/TI 84+ SE and matches my current sig.
  20. Archimage (archimage_a) and I have a crazy idea to design an online game that uses a DOS-based client. Can you offer some insight into what this entails? We're thinking a simple role-playing game using sprites and tiles (like old console games) with some customization (choose a class/race/weaponry etc) and basically (for now at least) a kill-some-monsters-get-some-money-buy-a-sword type gameplay... What coding language is it possible to do this in, and could you post some tutorials/stuff you find useful (references are always good), and if you know sort of what programs/resources are needed. And if it's possible to do this to run an online game (and where can we get cheap/free server space?). To show what I mean, a really bad mockup I made of the basic window: [hide=][/hide]
  21. When I ride my bike I do... Sometimes if I'm rollerblading. If it's at like a skating rink, then no. I do wear a helmet when playing ice hockey.

I know... Please leave something about the story?
  24. The Barack Obama article was hysterical! I agreed with Das' article as well, but the amount of spelling and grammatical errors really bothered me. In the future, please use spell-check!

As he strode down Varrock High Street, Laurence took a double take; that building didnt belong there, did it? But a building couldnt appear out of nowhere, could it? Ah, but this one did, noted a blue-garbed figure standing on the buildings porch. Come in, please. Laurence thought a bit. He now realized that he had seen people coming and going from the building And it seemed that today it just had a way of catching ones attention. He chose to follow the figure in. This is the Library. Or rather, the Falador Library. Yes, it belongs in Varrock, he said with a chuckle, Shall I give you the tour? Too dumbstruck to speak, Laurence simply nodded. Floor-to-ceiling shelves lined the walls and created smaller rooms out of the huge space. Most of the shelves were full. The blue-robed man noted that while it wasnt particularly organized, you could usually find what you were looking for. And if you cant, ask him, he pointed to a man sitting behind a large desk, his nose in a book and wearing an odd-looking hat. The tour guide (whom we shall call Archimage) pulled Laurence through a large aisle, the shelves of which were bursting with scrolls and leather-bound tomes. Archimage glanced at these with an air of contempt, while Laurence marveled at the sheer number. Back here, we have our older member-run role plays, he said as they passed tables of miniatures and boards gathering dust. We havent had a large group since the beginning He turned his attention to a large table covered in scenery and small buildings and figures. This is our pride and joy, Rusco. Our players have been away for some time though, and its time we provided for those who only want or need a shorter play session. Whirling Laurence around, Archimage took him back to the front. Pulling a key from his robe, he unlocked a large (and slightly menacing) door to the right of the front desk. This is our research and development room, I suppose you could call it. Over there, youll see our space models and character designs Theyll probably never be used, but theyre nice all the same. The real opportunity is on the other side of these shelves. On the other side there was a large, low table, with a grid superimposed over the scenery and small figures placed on it. For those who want a quick play opportunity, were creating these mechanical boards. You find the scenery you want, and then dial in a few numbers for random traps and encounters. The game would last a week or so, or one adventure would, and then pick up later. We havent worked out the full details yet. If you wanted you could join us and offer your ideas. With that, he walked out of the room, locking the door behind him. Over here, we have our sign-up desk, he pointed to a section of the desk, which surrounded the man wearing the odd hat. All you have to do is put down your name and a couple of our rules, which youll find on the board over there. Of course, you can always visit and watch the games without joining us. Laurence thanked Archimage, and left the Library. It was an interesting place, he decided, and perhaps hed come back soon to see what the man in the odd hat had to say.
