Well, personally, I'm thinking about a bad PSU. Usually manufacturers put a PSU that only supports what you have in the computer, so when you put a new graphics card in there, it made it that probably the psu was working to the top of it's ability, meaning it died earlier because of the computer taking more power. JoeDaStudd is better than me at guessing those things though lol.

I use both Vista and Windows 7 in dual boot. They both own the hell outta XP.

Is that a prebuilt? Have you changed the power supply when you upgarded the Graphics card and the RAM?

Lol I think you have a problem with your computer. My dual core AMD CPU is constantly at 0% usage on Vista and I have no explorer[Caution: Executable File] bug. Guess what? My computer is an HP that had XP at the begining and that now has Vista and Win7 in dual boot, so I can kind of dismiss what you said here (except for the apple part, that I find true).

The only times I've seen this is when there were viruses on my friend's computer. I guess you should do scans :S. Remember that I can be wrong though, should wait to see if someone has more posibilities to offer.

No no, what's that super-high-end card by nVidia... Crap I can't remember. In any case, total /drool. The highest end was GTX295 (which is SLI GTX280 cores on one card). However, the GTX285 IIRC is just a higher clocked GTX280, and Tri-SLI GTX285 beats out the SLI GTX295 in tests (since you can't tri SLI it). [1] Oh and this is what Tri SLI GTX285's do to crysis. I can't see the picture, and says Forbidden when I try to load it directly.

To me it looks like an overheating issue, check if you have a lot of dust when you open the case, especially in the cpu heatsink and videocard fan. If you do have a fair bit of dust, it can be the problem and you would need a compressed air can to get that out of there :).

So that's why a laptop that cost $1,500 on Newegg cost me $1,000 at best buy, right? :) Then it's the first time I see lower prices at Bestbuy and am sorry about that then.

But I actually looked iup the specs on Apple.com for the $1500 iMac and the card they're using came out in 2007. Bestbuy is quite overpriced, don't by from there but from a place having better prices, like Newegg.

Bought a video-card for my computer, it was an EVGA 9600GT, but ncix.com (a site which is Canadian for canadians btw), but 2 months after, still didn't have the card. Had to deal with the costumer service for a few weeks until I decided to change my order for an EVGA 9800GT that was almost the same price I had paid for the 9600. Had it 3 days after, but one thing they didn't tell me was that they took an additional $4 from my credit card for the price difference, like come on, it's such a small amount, and they had already lost me as a costumer, only makes me want to make bad publicity for them. Anyway, I gave their costumer service a bad rating and am still checking in case they took more money from my card.

I have newer ports (except for the good old usb 2.0, wich is still standard) than most of the people in the class, as e-SATA directly on the motherboard or even HDMI(although a bit more people have that one).

Ditch that and get a good antivirus like Avira/NOD32/Kaspersky.

Never go for a Dell. Asus may be new to the game, but I have one, and it owns! Very high quality for the price, and the one I have has almost all of it's outputs/inputs on new standards, I had a teacher thinking it was a $2000 laptop until I told him I payed $1100 for it. Brand new, never had any problems.

Even if it usually doesn't snow in England, how can having only that amount of snow do that? Here it takes at least 25cm to close the schools, and 35 to close my college.

My brother being in the Canadian army with a desktop, I can say that it wasn't that much of a hassle when he had his car, but now that he had to park it for a year because of an issue with insurance, it becomes a bit of a job to move it around, and now he wishes he would've bought a laptop. I say go for the laptop OldJoe posted.
