When I had a beep like that once, was just the RAM that needed cleaning. Get an eraser, and pass it on the connections to clean your RAM bars. Only thing is it can mean something else than it did on my computer.

What games do you plan to play on it?

Like I said, fully tweaked it took 5 mins, that means the msconfig and all that, but also the defrag and cleaning. That's why I gave it up. Fresh install took even longer. Worst is it came with the computer, now I have Vista and it runs much better, so I don't know why they didn't put Vista at the first place (well, maybe since it had only got out I guess). anyway, enough of that off-topicness.

Then that's something else restarting the computer like that. Did you check if you had a lot of dust before I came along? I never saw a computer "restart" for overheating, only staying off, but nothing's impossible. I'm going to think of other things that can be causing that.

Ok, then anyone care to tell me why XP used to take 5 mins to load while Vista takes barely 1 min to load on my computer? That would be great of you. And no, I didn't have viruses, I had to tweak XP because without tweaking, it took even longer to load.

Do you guys actually know what you're talking about?! If it was overheating, the computer would STAY off. To me, on Windows XP, just restarting like that looks more likely to be a blue screen than anything else. smelly, what I'd like you to do, is go right click on "My Comptuer", choose properties and go to the advanced tab. there will be 3 sections with a "settings button". Choose the one in the startup and recovery section, and then in the failure section, uncheck "restart automaticaly". There, you will be able to see the blue screen you get, and if you could provide us with the error code (which looks something like STOP 0x0000000 (0x0000000, [...]), then we will be more able to help you.

Yeah, sometimes Asus do things like that, that should be done differently, but even there, an 32bit os, even if it uses 3.5 of the 4GB, will be faster than on a system with 3GB memory. Asus is actually one of the best brands imo.

Those temperatures look fine to me though. Although I did have a video card that was idle at 65 and 90 on load, even without dust in the fan, but now with the 9800GT I have yet to find a program that can monitor it's temperature :? .

++ My parents have an HP they bought in 2000, they have yet to have a problem, and I bought mine 2 and a half years ago and never had any problems at all that weren't my own fault.

First time college is off for a snow day (exept in the exams), we got like 40 cms of snow. If it had been 30 or 35, like last time, we would still have had college rofl.

I can install XP back, and have it in dual boot with Vista and then make you videos if you want. And your site is too old and not a good source of reference, I don't take blogs as reference. Anyway, most of the computers now run Vista better than XP.

Then use Avast instead.

People don't need to do that. It just makes the computer faster if you know how to do that. Honestly, on my computer, Vista without even tweaking it is faster than a fully tweaked XP.

McAfee is even worse than Norton, I recently had a bit of experience with it.

There's one of your problems though, get a good antivirus like Avira Antivir instead of that piece of crap.

Or wait till Windows 7 gets out and get an Asus notebook? Those macs are expensive for the parts lol imo. I don't know though, your choice.

Don't you have to enter the security number and the expiration date of the card as well?
