3rd April 2009 - Forums for High level F2P'ers!
Alright alright, I'm done debating. I think everyone else should move on, too - we're getting nowhere with this debate fast. More to the point, the idea of requirements were discussed in this thread. I'm willing to believe 1,000-1,150 for starters, but others believe that there might be an in-game time requirement, much like the polls have.

It was completely conclusive - FTP is nothing but a drag on Jagex, with operating costs far outstripping revenue, paid for out of member pockets. The ONLY reason for an update is to reel in more members, and any update that does not is simply depriving members of paid-for updates. Exactly what I said in my first post, with the proof to back it up. You'd be correct 100% - if it weren't for the CEO coming out and saying that they simply do NOT view F2P (or its updates) as a method to gain more members. Did you miss that statement? Emphasis mine. QFC 13-14-607-58364526, 5th paragraph. With comments like the '750,000 high level players', I don't have much hope on that front. 1) I agree with Bauke here; higher experience on Freeplay takes exponentially more time than getting it on Members. 2) Who said there were 750,000 high level players? The newspost said an estimated 250,000, and even then, I'm willing to believe between 15-25% of that figure.

Wait, so because I still think it's worth it I'm not allowed to disagree with any of Jagex actions? :-# This doesn't look like a disagreement over a freeplay update. It looks like a tantrum. You can accept that neither Jagex nor players here view F2P as "freeloaders", or undeserving of updates because they don't contribute as much to the game as Members do, or discontinue paying. Note the key word that I highlighted. This isn't ad hominem, this is an observation on my part. It's been said time and again that F2P doesn't contribute on the same scale as Members. We don't need you to beat that point into the ground any further. Edit:  He makes a good point, though - not many Members post on the RSOF, due to the obscene amount of whining by members, who, by some astrological definition, are better and more deserving than high level Freeplayers. :?

Rational maths for the win. You're actually right - if Jagex updated every week for a year (52 weeks), then that stands to reason that Freeplay would get 3 or 4 updates a year, which is accurate.

I think this says it best. But, I will add one more thing. The number of freeplayers coming to the RSOF in contrast to the number of freeplayers overall is easily between 4% and 6%, assuming that there are either 6 million or 4 million freeplayers total. Why raise such a big fuss for that, anyway? I'll let you think about that while I go and welcome F2P to the forums.

Nope, but it's a business I'm paying to deliver me the highest quality content possible, not to treat as many people as fairly and equally as possible. If that was what I wanted, I'd give $5 a month to my favorite charity. Wait a minute. High-level F2P getting the RSOF is suddenly taking content away from you? It's suddenly making Jagex invest less time, effort, and money into Members? Are you kidding me? I suppose if you really hated the change, the best way you could voice your disapproval is to start giving that money to a charity. At least the charity will be happy...

From a humanitarian perspective, they are no better then us. From a business perspective, they are freeloading scum. The rhetorical question then becomes, "Is it your business?"

And why shouldn't we? Us PTPers pay for every single update FTP gets. FTP is nothing but a drag on overall server costs, designed with one goal in mind - get as many people as possible to switch to members and begin paying instead of freeloading. Oh, and for the record, I'm 32, not 12. How old are you? How you react to a situation often times overrides how old you claim to be. I'm actually glad that this update came into play. This probably means that I can maintain my tech thread while on Freeplay! It's a good thing that they did this, since the community doesn't consist of the minority of players, and many Freeplayers have really, really good suggestions and ideas to improve the game. @compfreak: Just because we pay for their server costs and what-not does not automatically make them yesterday's rubbish. You should have a more open mind to opening up the forums to Freeplay...I mean, it can't be any worse than Members (whom are "entitled") acting a damn fool, right?

Wait a minute. It's back. Was I missing something, or was this an April Fools' Joke?

2nd April 2009 - Duel Cards & Postbag From The Hedge
I looked at the duel cards, and the artwork is just plain awesome. I'm surprised that some nightmare made it into the fold instead of the KBD or Chaos Elemental...

Decoding the chaos elemental!
That's what I'm thinking. Syzygy is when the Earth, Sun, and Moon (but not specifically these three heavenly bodies) are all aligned at the same instance in time, probably something akin to a solar or lunar eclipse. Mechscape anyone?! Wait, what? How do you derive Mechscape from that?!

31st March 2009 - Rants forum returns
Let me try to explain what a valid complaint is in layman's terms for you. Game Feedback forum: "I don't agree with the changes to Pray-X. While it allows one to avoid repetitious clicking and unintended bone burial, it dramatically slows down the rate of experience. I feel that there should be an option to disable not only this, but all Do-X functions, at the users' choice." Rants forum: "OMFG I HATE PRAY-X JAGX R CATERING 2 KDIZZZZZZ OMFG CHNG IT BAK OR I QUIT" Get the picture? :wall: I'm siding with Fey on this one - I wouldn't want to see a year of work dedicated to building a decent community undermined by someone with veto power. Pandora's box was opened when the RSOF opened, man. I'll admit, some neat and cool stuff came out of the older RSOF, and some interesting discussions exist sparingly, but the rest is more than enough for me to want to close the box.

Decoding the chaos elemental!
This seems to be a very strong hint towards some sort of submarine contend. Red Raktuber = Red October, a Russian submarine from a book, movie and video game. The "flying" remarks could mean moving underwater. The fish references also point at something involving water. What if it referred to a continuation of the Penguin/KGP plot? It all fits - penguins can't fly and they're spoofed off of the Cold War/Russian plot. Personally, I wonder what the references to the Dragonkin mean. What does syzygy have to do with all of it? Where's the Sun and Moon for all of this to happen?

Am i missing something? Ranking above Avatars.
The fake rankings here are simply pure win.

All Holiday Items Tradeable!!!!!!
Hell no. These items were meant to be fun, not for people to gain quick wealth off of 'em.

31st March 2009 - Rants forum returns
boo hoo, without us and our criticism you would have no game. There's a difference between criticism and throwing a public tantrum, you know. I'm actually surprised that this forum made its way back. I thought the Feedback forum did just fine. Now, I'm wiling to bet that this forum will be full by the end of the day, with rants about BH/Wilderness taking the lions' share of posts.

I pay, so why ads?
To begin with, not everyone that hits RuneScape.com pays for their services, so ads will appear there always. Second, you should look into actually reporting the advertisement (there should be a ? near the advertisement's box, towards the top) instead of bellyaching. Lastly, you definitely should consider changing your browser - it isn't like you'll be losing anything by moving from IE to Firefox... I'll be honest. When I first read this, it was so funny to me. Looking through it now...not so funny. There are other avenues for you to resolve this problem (Adblocker? What adblocker?), notwithstanding actually FILING A COMPLAINT. Get 'er dun.

Why female players are underepresented in RuneScape?
These demographics aren't just true in RS, but in most MMOGs or any multi-player game out there. Girls just don't normally play MMOGs on the scale that guys do (I'd estimate the ratio of males to females to be somewhere near 12:1), but that of course doesn't mean that they don't play at all.

Fansite support information
I think this is more along the lines of concrete proof that Jagex contacted fansites such as Tip.it. Of course, there's no reason for our Administration to lie, but hey - always good to have two sources saying the same thing.

Outfits.
The way I see it - buying items for looks has just as much purpose as buying items for usefulness. I have a set of Vesta that I use when I'm smithing, not because I need it (in fact, if I get into combat with a certain random, I'm going to lose it :?), but because I like the way it looks on my avatar. I suppose you could call it one of the perks of RSHD - people are bound to like armor that looks a certain way. No time or money is "wasted", since I'm still doing what I want to do with my time. It doesn't matter what people think of my outfit (since I train in a secluded spot on the map anyway); I like it, and that's all that counts. It's funny that you disown the idea of spending time and (RS) money on an outfit that they like. Like you said yourself, who cares?

5 years of runescape 2.
RS2 (from inception) was a radically immature creation compared to the RS2 of today. Things have definitely improved from since then. I can't see your 'click and wait' argument though - this game is one giant "click and wait" game, if you asked me  It's improved. And here's hoping that it gets exponentially better over the next five years.

Why finish them?
If they don't finish quest lines, I'll have old storylines to follow. If they do finish quest lines, I'll have new storylines to follow. Doesn't bother me either way. :D

14-year old sex offender
I don't think that she should be labeled or convicted as a sex-offender. There are some other charges to satisfy the punishment, but registering her as a sex offender virtually guarantees a crappy life for her.

Handedness and Technology
I don't believe you. There's too many lefties in the world for people to consider it abnormal. No, it's true - sinister actually means left-handed. It's also true that parents would force their children to be right-handed, to go along with the norm. Anyway, I'm right-handed, and happen to have a very keen knowledge of computers and technology. I'm interested in both hardware and software, but I take a better shine to the software side.
