Runescape On Consoles *proof*
Don't think that I was belittling you or anything, I was going off of what I understood of the RS game. Vivia is absolutely right - they're not going to port the server over to any other console. That's what I misunderstood. I really should do my homework before I go and comment stuff so I don't have to retract what I said earlier... [Aside] Neither of us know how difficult or whatever it could be to port the game, but to be honest, the only real problem I foresaw was communication, which is more or less a show stopper. I realize that yes, if money is involved, then they'll make an effort to port it to a console. If, by theory, they were only porting the client, then yeah, it'd be rather simple and you wouldn't have to worry about API-specific calls. I still don't like the idea of using C# in the development, but then again, I'm not in charge of it, so all I can do is sit in a corner and sulk.

Here we go again. SwiftKit illegal to use
When SwiftSwitch was banned in January '07: It was probably due to the fast(er) switching, allowing you into W2, and being able to hide adverts. They talked with Strider and, much to my chagrin, they unbanned it with a newer set of rules. They probably banned SK now simply because of the IRC client. I do recall Andrew himself talking about how he'd make a replacement for it in RS, and while many people here wouldn't call Clan Chat any replacement, that's probably how they view it. Anyway...I refuse to comment any further on this matter. I've only heard or seen one mod comment on it thus far, and I'll be damned if we go down that same road we did back in 07...

RuneScape DIY.
Since when was RuneScape ever meant to be a single player game? Anyway, to answer the question, the amount of time required to level in this game without the aid of another player would go up probably six or seven orders of magnitude. Group questing, such as Mort'ton would be impossible. Probably no one would be maxed, or approaching the 1,800 mark. In short, playing RuneScape would be significantly less "play" and a helluva lot more "work".

Runescape On Consoles *proof*
You could use voice chat, by very unlikely since all the immature people who think the "F" word is the best adjective,adverb, or noun to use. They can provide a free download. For the sanity of the filter, I'd rule that possibility out. I don't know of any voice recognition software that is 100% accurate at filtering certain words, from the voices of different people (male, female, old, young, those with bronchitis, those who haven't hit puberty, etc...)

Runescape On Consoles *proof*
1) Try to run RuneScape without Java. 2) RuneScape is programmed with a scripting language (RuneScript), which is built on top of Java. So yes, you do need Java to run RS. I knew about this, not to thrilled about it. Heard some rumblings that it would be done in C#, which doesn't seem right - why wouldn't they use C++ for this...? You missed his point Its written in runescript whihc a java app inteprets. Therefore all they need is to write a matching c++ or w/e app tht can read runescript and boom same game diff paltform No, I'm certain that he meant that RuneScript was its own standalone language, which I pointed out that it wasn't. Also, porting from one language to another is actually extremely difficult. (Ironically, that's why Java exists. :P) Getting RS to run on another platform, such as C++, would require porting some familiar Java-specific API calls, perhaps one to ArrayList, which simply does not exist in C++. It's possible, just tedious. But that is neither here nor there. ;) EDIT: And this is why I always theorized that porting RuneScape to consoles was all but out of the question. There's a chance that you could use QuickChat, but using that to communicate with other RS players is about as helpful as using a foam cup to call your cousin in Hawaii. I dunno, I'd actually like to see how they could pull this off.

To all students with exams.
I actually had my end of term exams about a month ago, and they went nicely. In some places I felt like I lost the battle, but I won the war, walking away with an A and 3 Bs. The best advice I can give you guys is simple - don't panic. Familiarize yourself with your subject, study it until you're tired (an hour or two is best), and don't sweat the small stuff.

CPU fan is out of control
It's more than likely that the BIOS is acting insane. What you'll have to do is flash the BIOS. I recommend that you do this with HP's tools for now. Go here, fill out your region, type in the serial number found on the back of your tower, and find a specific BIOS for you to use. Download it, run it, and it should flash successfully, provided that there are no blackouts or sudden losses of power. I wouldn't recommend doing this if your location is prone to power outages, since it would brick your machine.

Jagex MMG interview part 2 of 3, talking RuneScape
From what I gathered from this interview: - The majority of players whining about children are, in fact, behaving like children themselves, despite their actual age - Freeplay is NOT a demo (can we kill this rumor here and now?) - A new F2P/P2P skill is coming, and since I heard this one in MMG's chat, it's probably going to be either late this year or early next year - Something totally unexpected and unprecedented in the MMO market - Don't expect any of the mods (namely MMG) to be talking about any updates until they can talk about updates, easily the day of launch Sounds good. Can't wait to see all what happens.

27th May - Dungeon maps and spam filter
Another patch-update week. Nice. Anyway... I actually like the new HP bar and splats. The little flag update is also interesting since that hasn't changed since early RS2. It might've been in RSC, can't remember. To all the ranters: In about two days, you won't even notice these changes, so do yourselves a favor and not get worked up about something so trivial. Really.

Being Hacked the 21st time! (Problem Solved (Lock please) )
Spybot is not AV software. Go with Avira for that. I believe that your browsing habits and/or circle of friends leads you to get into more trouble with your computer's security than you'd like. Don't go to dodgy sites or download anything, and don't play on a public terminal (if that's how it all started). Make sure that your machine has some kind of firewall and reliable AV so you can prevent most of these incidents in the future.

May 20th: New Slayer Monster Information.
What the hell. What is with everyone and this whole Pokemon kick? Are you all like...twelve? I did not expect such outlash against concept art. Honestly, you think it looks like a Pokemon? So what? Who gives a damn? Just give the creature a name already and quit acting like brats! 78 Slayer is a nice level for a new Slayer NPC anyway. It's kind of at the middle roads for a slayer. Should be interesting what it drops. I'll wind up suggesting a name for it later...gotta look up some Icelandic names for sea creatures. [Why Icelandic? Here's a hint: Neitiznot.]

Will I get held back?
I don't know what kind of system you use, but it looks like from here you have a C average, so I don't think you'll get held back. 104% in PE. Yeah, that really helped your bacon.

~~~ Jagex's Mass RWT Ban Cover-up ~~~
I agree with this statement here. I don't know if you were or were not involved with RWT, since all we have is your word (which no one should take at face value, unless they have a reputation). No evidence, no way we can say who was right or wrong. That's all there is to it.
Chart comparing old and new RuneScape rules
I can't remember/find the QFC for it (too sleepy atm), but I do recall a Jagex Mod stating that not only was AFK training against the rules, but it would be "dishonourable" to do so. So it fits under "Honour" nicely, I suppose.
11th May 2009 - Offence System maintenance - UPDATED
I'm glad that my legacy punishment is finally revoked. I mean, what the hell did I do anyway to deserve 2 blackmarks and sit in the Danger Zone back in 2005? Couldn't even get that one appealed... Anyway, yeah. Good to see the new system. The new rules are going to be a bit tricky though.
Some general questions.
1) There's a chance that the amount of data transferred between server and client hits maybe 2-4GB a month, but I doubt it'd go over 15GB monthly. 2) Try blowing some dust out of the card's fan (and your whole machine, while we're at it). This might alleviate some of the noise problems.
School Plans on Buying Netbooks for its Students, Help
You can do plenty of school-relevant work in 80MB, although I'm more inclined to believe 80GB. Think about it - I have a 4GB drive with all of my school work and other stuff, and the schoolwork doesn't count for more than 2% of the whole thing. Remember, it's a netbook; it's designed to be small and be productive, not to jerk around and play games and stuff. Anyway, it's up to the school district to filter their networks, per their IT guidelines. Have you tried accessing game sites? If they block those, there's a very good chance they block the illegal stuff, too. Their hopes are too optimistic for these netbooks to last 5-6 years. With general use of any standard netbook, you're guaranteed 2 years at the most, and that's with general care. The hard disks don't last normally longer than that, unless they planned on buying new hard disks for every netbook.
Tip.It Times: 10 May 2009
If you lag and disconnect at the Light Temple Rune Rocks at the wrong time, you're in the same boat as the guy that lagged at Sara, although with much less of a blow (probably won't lose between 1 and 10M worth of gear). So how do they get out of this corner? That, my friends, is the hypothetical question of the year. Hopefully it gets answered soon, too - skillers should rise again, hopefully.
Tip.It Times: 10 May 2009
RE: RS Imbalance I'm willing to blame both parties for this. Blame the players for demanding an all-but combat centered kind of gameplay (emergent gameplay such as Combat pures are a testament to this), but blame Jagex as well for fostering this kind of atmosphere. There were dozens upon dozens of missed opportunities to give the skillers as fair a chance to make cash in the game, such as allowing them to craft various desirable Treasure Trail armors. This never happened (and probably never will), so combat will always remain the best way to make cash in the game, full stop. With every new weapon being introduced in the game, the benefit of laboring to any high level in Smithing, Crafting or Fletching is all but moot. Not to mention Stealing Creation, the most rewarding skiller minigame, is nearly alone in its field (with Shades of Mort'ton and Great Orb Project not even coming close to its kind of reward system). When will it be that skillers get rewarded just as much (if not more) than warriors...?
School Plans on Buying Netbooks for its Students, Help
Giving students netbooks instead of buying MS Office for the labs is a brilliant move; consider that for the cost of one of those licenses, two students get an Eee PC. Besides, there's always OpenOffice.org for you to use, which does the exact same thing and is free. Anywho, looking at your letter, there's a handful of common sense things in there that even I could answer, with no foreground into this kind of situation. A) A netbook could be seen as a laptop that every student could have. This allows them to do their work with the flexibility of going outside, going to the cafeteria, to the library, and so forth - without having to compete for resources in a crowded lab. The typical specs for a notebook either come with some flavor of Linux or Windows XP Home, using the Atom processor + around 1GB of RAM. Hard disk size varies from 20GB (SSD) to 160GB, depending on the amount of cash your district is using for these things. B) Netbooks have wireless, of course. They can be used on any wireless system, provided that they have the SSID/password. Filtering would be up to the school's network administration, since it's highly unlikely that they'll install any bloatware/net nanny type software on these. Since it works just like a normal "laptop", connecting to the Internet shouldn't be a problem. Key word - shouldn't. But yeah, it's actually quite awesome that they're giving the students this technology. Sorry you won't get one from the district, but consider this - they're only like $300 anyway, and some better ones won't go past $700, so why not ask your folks to get you one, too? :D
Ourg Bones? Are you KIDDING?
I'd be up in arms about this if you could truly bank these bones on a frequent basis. It's not like they're going to be banked by soloers often, so why sweat it?
school network security challenge
So, how often is is that an Administrator actually lets people try to break the network? Go for it, man.
Ah... Pking
My opinion on this: **** the code. I'll PK any way I damn well please, and if you can't handle me hitting crazy on your defense, then get the hell out of the Wilderness. Look, the reason I hate PKing is because players always think they can make up rules and stuff to "keep it fair". It's kill or be killed out there. Why can't anyone respect that?
Jagex **& RuneScape** are up for an award
Maybe he referred to it as a group of people instead of a company :3 A company is a legal person. But that's neither here nor there. I'll look more into this award before I vote, since there's a lot of things that have been award-worthy (and some not-so award worthy). It's interesting though that they're only now getting recognized...
