  1. Agreed, you can't make money from every skill ( or you can but slowly and all) So it's skills but the most useful ones like woodcutting , mining , hunter , farming those kind of money making skills. Cause i doubt you could get your money back with firemaking , agility? Skills>Money It might not be that obvious, but you can get money back with Agility (read: Sinister key). This of course involves Herblore and some Thieving to make it painless, but still... And as far as I know, you can make some cash back with firemaking, but not on the scale of Smithing, for instance.
  2. There are technical limitations to prevent this already, but even if it was possible, I don't think it should happen. It goes to show that we should always make conscious choices (even if it was EONS ago) about what our moniker should be.
  3. There's no doubt that this card could run HD without a hitch, but I'd be wary of the passive cooling. Passively cooled systems (w/o proper fans near the card) can run pretty hot, and I'm fairly sure that those models can come with a cooling system.
  4. 3 years? Even with College + work, I'd still be able to get between fourteen and fifteen 99s. Thank God for MTK.... :D Only thing that might remain "low" would be RC...it'd top out at about 77. :P
  5. Before, when I was smelting, I would get approximately four different randoms in the span of an hour. Now, I get about 1 random in the span of four game sessions. This is probably the best tweak made to the game; even the random that I got was relatively short (Molly), and I got an XP lamp for my trouble! :D
  6. My question: Why not just use full Rune, which has the exact same stats as full Saradomin? But that's another issue. The items that we lose are based on the high alchemy of that item, which is why you'll keep a bar of iron over a party hat. That should never change. Besides, there are "items lost on death" tools now...why didn't you consult that?
  7. It's not about how close one is to a server (physically), it's about how direct their connection is to that particular server. It could so happen that you have to go through dozens of other stops on your way to that server (trust me, it happens), which explains the latency. It's also how you get a significantly reduced latency on a different server that's physically tens of thousands of kilometers away.
  8. If their attempt at a friendly conversation really makes you want to snap their neck, just turn your Public chat off. That's all it is, really - someone trying to be social by starting a nice little chat with you...sorry if "what's your Smithing level" displeases you...
  9. Paying for membership is analogous to paying your cable bill; even if you don't touch your cable for a full month, you can bet your bottom dollar that it won't be on if you don't pay up.
  10. I got the joke dsavi_x4. You read xkcd too, eh? :P Here's my contribution. Title: MTK Calculator (Miscellania) Language: Java Difficulty to Understand: Relatively straightforward What it does: It calculates how long (in days) it would take to reduce your stockpile of cash in Miscellania to around 100gp (the point of no concern). The code: http://pastebin.com/m17e2bfa2 If it disappears and you're interested, PM me so I can put it back up.
  11. One of the key reasons that these clans can exist in the first place is that items do not have to have an intrinsic use beyond a way to "compress" cash, if you will. I've stockpiled hundreds of thousands of Maple logs, coal, and about 75K iron, all of which I don't even have to use. (That's not to say that I don't, because I normally will, if I have all that stuff just staring me down in the bank.) Apply that same theory to items such as Barrows, Rune, and Dragon, and manipulators can exist. It's definitely a problem, but I don't see how anyone (let alone Jagex) can fix it. That is, unless we start telling folks that items need to be used in order for... hmm, don't think that convincing them to use their items for their intended purpose will work...
  12. Oh, you're going? Don't make too much noise and don't let the door hit you on the way out. It's not that you're a whiner, you're just an opinionated curmudgeon. Nothing wrong with that. Anyway, this bank update will make it simpler to do bank-skilling tasks (a-la Fletching, Crafting, Smithing), and it could finally open the possibility of being able to equip the character in the bank window. I'll admit that this was a rather pedestrian update, but it's still a pretty good one. I'm also liking the inability of dropping more than 1K of worth; this should make it better for PvPers to get a decent kill.
  13. I'm almost certain that graphics artists have to sign a NDA before they can put that kind of information in their portfolios. It's likely that the original quest name was indeed "Return of Lucien", but got changed during the final development stages. Good looking out though.
  14. Technically, it would've been better to release it yesterday, but I'm not surprised that it wasn't done today either. It seems so far that their update motif is "Tuesday", so it should be here tomorrow. Personally, I hate spoilers. They always build your hopes up. Reduce the amount of spoilers, reduce the amount of anticipation associated with an update. (Best example: release of Construction.)
  15. While it may be harder to gain sets or emotes, the lack of attention I'm getting from the Sandwich Lady is nothing but pure happiness.
  16. Or maybe never. But tbh, I dunno if Jagex would announce any mass bannings. :-# There might be an obscure post hidden somewhere on the RSoF when it happens...
  17. I beg to differ - it's more than likely that bannings have already occurred, you just can't see them yet.
  18. I don't think any eyebrows will raise unless the IP address is from a different country...
  19. A professor of mine showed me a page that printed "Hello, world!" in eight or so different languages at the same time, depending on what language it was compiled in. (Hint: figure out what a comment line in one language (i.e. COBOL) means in another (i.e. C). It's a shame that I don't have the image, but if I get the chance to, I'll find it and post it here.
  20. The only time that it would be appropriate (not just in my view, but in Jagex's as well - reference the RSoF if you don't believe me) is if a bug occurred which affected everybody at the same time (i.e. all of the servers being knocked offline, or the game's data being overwritten/corrupted, causing everyone to lose everything). The ? bug didn't affect everyone; only a handful of players that were online at the time. Well, not only would you have had to have been online, but you would have to have been in the same area that players were spamming the message, hence, crowded worlds such as W2 and W1 were struck, boss NPCs were hit, and PvP worlds were also hit as well. The point of this is that not everyone in the game was affected. Rollbacks are mammoth, and they affect everyone. Rolling back for this would have been analogous to using a nuke to kill termites. It's sad but true - the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. Especially when the primary 'need' of the few is to totally obliterate the work of the many in the few hours this bug ran rampant.
  21. Skills. In order to make money on the scale of any particular skill (i.e. 90 Slayer, 99 Hunting, etc), you need a lot of cash to begin with, and not everyone was blessed with paper hats to do just that.
  22. It's not your job to offer a solution when you disagree with the current choice, but it is your job to whine about it? If you didn't like the restrictions to the game that were made a year or so ago, I don't know why you bothered coming back. You're only wasting your time, your money, and your breath if you think you can convince anyone (not just Jagex) that [Jagex] is doing a bad job with handling RWT. RuneScape's rule enforcement is among some of the strictest I've seen. If you don't believe that, go to some other MMO or some other game, where the rules aren't enforced nearly as well. I'll even pack your bags for you. Free PKing just isn't possible anymore, thanks to RWT. The game isn't being ruined by PvP world drops, either - it makes it less of a pick and choose option from a safe spot; it's truly kill whatever moves. I've said it a year ago, and I'll say it again: If the game wasn't ruined when the first round of anti-RWT updates occurred, then this is not going to ruin anything, either.
  23. Oh really? Let's hear those changes. [Like this is the venue for it.] Listen. All they're doing is adjusting BH so that players that RWT can't do it as easily anymore. Why is everyone all of a sudden up in arms against Jagex about this?
  24. The crowd I hang with (mostly college Computer Scientists, with an age range of between 18 and 35) don't care that I play RS. They've all got their own games and hobbies, and no one questions (or mocks) another person's choice. Of course, by definition, we're all 'nerds' [and I loathe using that word], so that's why there's very, very little to no animosity no matter what MMO you play. Hell, if you took everyone I knew and asked what games they play, you'd probably run the gambit.
  25. #! /usr/bin/php5-cgi ? Never dealt with CLI before.
