Experts advise switching browser after serious IE flaw
To start: Firefox can and does have its share of major security flaws, it's just that they're patched up way faster than IE's. [Anonymous programmers are legion.] Next, it doesn't surprise me at ALL that IE has such a critical flaw. You can almost predict when the next Microsoft product will have a critical flaw in it so accurately, you could set your watch to it. Lastly, how the heck is Fx the appropriate abbreviation for Firefox? Consider the two words "Fire" and "Fox", and both begin with F, so FF is much more natural.

Dragon: Whats next?
I'd like a Dragon Pickaxe, but the Mining system needs a revision before it could be as useful as the Dragon Hatchet. I'll take the warhammer though. :D

Desktops VS Laptops
Desktops: Pros: - Easy to upgrade - Temperature/thermals not much of an issue - Simpler to use for gaming Cons: - Not portable - Not robust (think "blackout") Laptops: Pros: - Lightweight - Easy to travel with - Powerful Cons: - Not easy at all to upgrade - Will run hot if playing a demanding game (probably between 75-85C)

Fighter's Torso vanishes from gravestone?
It *could* be a bug, or it *could* be an incentive to go back to Barbarian Assault with a team. I kinda see it both ways here. I also realize the amount of work required to get a torso, but that should be weighed in with the "risk" of using it in dangerous areas.

Urgent help please
Is it absolutely pressing that it be strictly saved to a CD? I'm thinking of taking the path of lesser resistance here, and have you e-mail the file to yourself, so that it gets to wherever you have access to the Internet. An even better (and quicker) option would be a flash drive, but that's just me. There's at least two possibilities here as far as the problem goes. Either the disk you have already has bogus data on it (and it can't be read), or the drive that you're using isn't a CD-R. Can you tell us what type of drive it is? If it's the first, then simply get a fresh disc and try again. If it's the latter, you're probably stuck e-mailing it or carrying it on a flash drive.

Firefox..
My eyebrow shot to the ceiling when you said "Myspace". Not sure if it'll come down anytime soon. Try running the game without having Myspace open, and see if that stops your random crashes. If that doesn't solve it, get back to us.

Java runnign too much?
I was just thinking that, but then I noticed the .01 difference between the clock speeds. Trivial, at best - I can assume 2.79GHz for this. I was hoping for your current graphics card and Java version, but that's fine. It could be that there's some sort of hardware bottleneck someplace, or that you don't have quite enough memory. Tough to conclude on that, really. Get back to me when you've tried the -Xmx256m option.

State of RS Combat [Draft]
All except the bolded area are already declared with the larger strength bonuses warharmmers, twohanded swords, and battleaxes claim. The bolded area, on the other hand, is a great idea in which I support, assuming that the minimum cap is reasonable. Being able to constantly hit above a ten would be incredibly overpowered. I don't exactly see how a faster weapon has its damage capped off. Consider the Dragon Dagger, Dragon Claws, and Arrows excluding Dragon. They're very quick, and they can hit very hard, very fast - almost outpacing a Godsword in total damage done.

Mmm....no. Not with Construction. The "benefit" is to have a really nice house, and the purpose (not just destiny) of the whole skill is to drain as much money out of the game as possible. Consider that at level 95, it costs 10M to put a Steel Dragon in your house; depending on the current situation of Magic Stones, it can cost upward of 22.5M to put a Demonic Throne in your house as well. That's why I stand by my second instinct and say that this "nerf" was appropriate. Construction, even at its highest skills, stands to drain exorbitant amounts of cash out of the game. Aside: Gotta agree with green9090 about the other skills. Smithing hasn't been profitable since Rune fell below 300K.

Java runnign too much?
I don't know your exact memory specs or your OS, but I can at least suggest that you "limit" the amount of memory that Java is permitted to use. To do this, go to your Control Panel (assuming Windows), click on Java, and go to the Java tab. Then, from there, click on the Java Applet Runtime Settings, then select the most current Java that you have (should be 6 update 11). Now, there's going to be a section that says "Java Runtime", and in there, you will type in -Xmx256m. That should prevent Java from running too wild. Still, let's hear your specs. I can't really say what's causing the problem for sure unless you give those out.

While I'd like to agree with you on this point of view, I simply can't due to JaGex's inconsistency when it comes to what qualifies as content that needs to be removed/adjusted and then proceed to claim it was a bug. Was Prayer ever destined to be trained without ever once using it? The same can be said for Summoning and Magic. Was fletching destined to be a skill trained for the sole purpose of getting a skill cape? No, it was destined to be a skill where players could make supplies to support the ranged skill. My point is, if we look at how things were destined to be in the game, then I'd say half the game needs to be redone. But you see, in JaGex's eyes those people ARE bug abusers because they've already essentially said that anything they do not like and doesn't fall under another rule, is a bug. That's their definition - it may seem stupid (it is), but that's the one they use. To begin with, your parallels to those skills make no sense - * Prayer was always destined to be trained with bones, and you never had to use prayers to get 99 * Summoning was always destined to be trained with Charms, and you don't *have* to use a familiar to get 99 * Magic was always destined to be trained with Runes, but you DO have to cast spells to get 99 The reason that I make such a bold statement about Construction is because of its nature. It's freaking expensive to train, full stop. When it was first introduced, it was referred to as a mammoth money sink, and that should still hold true to this day -- it would cost about 60-80M to train it to 99 with Oak planks [last time I checked, which was easily a year and a half ago]. So, all of a sudden, a huge opportunity to make money from the "Money Void" appears, and that doesn't raise an eyebrow? Again, I sympathized with both sides here -- I definitely felt that a high level Carpenter (yes, I said Carpenter) should deserve the boost in cash, but at the same time, this skill was never intended to make money to begin with. So suffice to say, Jagex had made the correct choice in identifying this as a bug. As for the definition of a bug, it can be seen as any software flaw, intentional or not, with a result that differs in any form from the intended results. So yeah, this is a bug. But I guess that Jagex is being good about it and not banning anyone for "bug abuse" -- that'd be a PR nightmare.

At first, I thought that it was a huge error on Jagex's part to "nerf" this, but let's consider this: Was Construction ever destined to make money?

Runescape Customer Service Is Incredibly BAD!
I delved a bit deeper into what you were on about 123Yourgone, and I noticed that it's probably a bug, so submit a report. However, this doesn't change what I said about keeping your credentials written down. If they're written down in the order that you answered them, then this wouldn't be much of a problem. Also, there wouldn't have been a problem to begin with if you changed your questions once every nine or twelve months. It might be tedious to do, but thank God that the questions are phrased in such a way that you don't have to really remember them, if you can remember simple facts like the color of your room.

DRAGON PLATE!!!! :@
I think that the OP had a slight lapse in memory and forgot that the metal wasn't Dragon. Come on, Dragon's been way outdated since Barrows showed up. It's nothing new. You either like the plate, or you don't buy it. Simple as that.

Runescape Customer Service Is Incredibly BAD!
But you don't understand the fundamental point of recovery questions -- you're supposed to either remember them, or have them written down in a safe place. What you're saying right now is that it's Jagex's fault that you can't remember your account's credentials. Like I said, there's a point in which CS must throw up their hands and assume PEBMAC (Problem Exists Between Machine and Chair). Why are you hyperparanoid about some random girl stealing your accounts, anyway? Does she even care that you play RS?
-
Runescape Customer Service Is Incredibly BAD!
There has to be a threshold in which CS can only help so much. Why didn't you write your recovery questions down? Who's to blame in that case?

Sluggish laptop
Right off the top, kill both of the messengers, and only allow them to start when you activate them. You also forgot to post your graphics card stats as well, run dxdiag and tell us what you've got. While you do that, why don't you try defragmenting your hard disk? Run the defrag program, and that should get rid of some of the cruft.

This. If you're so quick to loose your composure from one silly person, you should probably take a break from the game for a week or so.

One year has passed !
I don't know how long you've been around, but Junk trades have been around since way before the release of GE. Since way before the release of RS2. Since way before the release of Rune. Telling me that junk trades is a testament to anything at this point means nothing. Oh my mistake. Can you explain that though, why would anybody need to junk trade when their is free trade? The most particular instance I can think of was when the whip was first traded. I lost the picture, but I distinctly remember some mammoth quantity of cash (think 25M), various rares, and a Blue partyhat. Players would also happily trade items for other items at one time, as well. It just didn't get called "junk" trading until literal "junk" was involved. Free trade is not free. If anything, trading was made easier by the GE, since I don't have to shill out an arm, leg, partyhat, etc. for a Dragon Plate.

I'm not 100% convinced that you guys are getting the jist - I'm trying to debate the effect and one-sidedness that weapon speeds have [re]created for Combat. Can we get back to that?

Runescape Customer Service Is Incredibly BAD!
A mammoth wall of text that is hard to decipher [read], lack of commas and what not, but I think I'll try to weed out the parts that make no sense. 1) Contacting Customer Support in regards to billing can be done. Contacting CS to wrongly banned accounts can be done. What else do you need to bother them for? 2) In the rare times that I've had to actually use CS, they were prompt and glad to help. The only time it took any longer than a few days was if I sent in a request that I could have figured out from forums or fansites. 3) First, think of how many players have sent appeals in (think in terms of ten-thousands or more). Then, think of how many people work at Jagex (about 380). Don't think that Jagex can just hire people at random to deal with CS appeals, since while they make lots of cash, they have to pay salaries, property tax, equipment rentals, vacations, etc. They're doing what they can with what they've got, cut them some slack. 4) Define "innocent". 5) If anything, the rules aren't policed strictly enough. There's a lot of people around there that have gotten away with drop-trades or breaking other various rules, and they've not been punished. 6) I dunno about you, but I sure as hell don't pay for CS. I pay for the game. CS is a nice bonus when I need it. Again, I must ask the question that every CS ranter loves to avoid: What do you need to contact CS for that isn't already provided to you? You can get billing and account queries resolved, and you can even get Forum/Jagex Moderators on the forums to tend to an emergency on your thread. What more do you want? Do you want to contact them just so you can talk to them, or did you want to rant to them in person? Appropriate channels exist for that already. Sorry, I lost interest in what you said after you said "assume". Do you mean to tell me that you're basing this of off a handful of personal experiences with no concrete proof to back you up? Get your facts together and try again. You know that what you've said doesn't make any sense, right? But then again I suppose it does -- like I said earlier, there's about 380 or so people working at Jagex, and it's not unheard of for one person to work two different jobs. Overall I can't understand what the hell you're trying to say. Rewrite this sentence so I can properly answer it. Again, I say that the number of players sending in queries far outweighs the number of employees working at Jagex, full stop. And "work" can be defined one of two ways -- attending to bratty customers all day, or developing new content. Personally, I'll take the latter definition -- I'd rather have a new update on a consistent schedule than have thirty or fifty-thousand players have their account "issues" resolved. ...So you really don't know how a company works. Nor do you know the definition of "worth". *sigh* Pay attention. Consider that in any one month, Jagex stands to make about $1,475,000 a month (that's 275,000 new or recurring subscriptions at $5.90 a piece; there's going to be a discrepancy because not everyone pays for a month at a time). Out of that 1.4 million, a huge chunk of it goes to pay employee salaries, pay equipment rentals, pay taxes, pay benefits, pay for food (they do deliver food there), pay for gym equipment rentals, pay for transportation, and miscellaneous. From there, worth means absolutely nothing, if they don't get the income for that month. I demand a definition for "innocent" again. You haven't provided it. And I didn't know that a five-year old was coherent enough to get online, register for RuneScape under their full birth-date, and actually see chat from other players not given to them through QuickChat. I guess you missed that part; anyone younger than 13 can't see chat that is not QuickChat. My guess is that your point is moot. The rules are still justifiable to this day. You can't tell me that account trading doesn't occur, nor can you tell me that item scamming still doesn't happen (albeit on a much less likely area). If anything, these rules (especially #1, #6, #7, #8, #9, and #14) need to be enforced on a stricter basis. The best part about this is that you can't tell the difference between a freedom and a priviledge. When you're in America, or out in the open someplace, you are free to speak your mind. When you are talking through a medium, such as RuneScape, you are not free to speak your mind, full stop. If you don't think that this is fair, try talking back to your teacher in school. You may have been free to speak your mind, but you'll quickly realize that rules against that exist for a reason. Read above. ------ I've read just about enough of this. It became intelligible after a period of time. If you can counter my points with well-thought out arguments and full, clear sentences, I look forward to a healthy debate.

One year has passed !
When I look into the past, I see hatred and corruption. When I look into the future, we are all free from the evil. How glorious it is, a world without RWT and bots. Anyway, I knew that last year, things would be rocky, and players would not like anything changed, but we've come a long way. The updates that have come in place are actually very good, and I'm certainly satisfied with it. No, can't say I agree with that. D Plate is falling, and D Claws should be rising steady. What's wrong with that? Transferring between accounts has been long against the rules. I'm so happy that people like you can't transfer anymore. :D While I challenge you to find an MMOG that isn't fundamentally flawed with its community (after all, they're human; humans suck), or doesn't have major linearity in parts, your time is your time, and it would be pointless to convince you to keep playing.

How do you make your internet fast?
1) Before I begin with anything, I'll clarify that the speed of your Internet has nothing to do with the processing power of your computer. While it's highly impractical, one could run RuneScape on dial-up. 2) How often do you restart your machine? It should be restarted at least once every two days. Keep your cache clean, too. 3) Give us your specs since we really can't divine whether or not your machine is good enough to play RS [smoothly].
