  1. [hide=Spoiler Theorem]Something doesn't sit right with me. Why would they give a piece of the dragon platebody as a reward right off the bat? And why would they only give us 5K for all that work?![/hide] This quest would make doing Kennith's Concerns worth it. Never liked that series.
  2. Seconds away from posting that same image Dragonlord, might want to hide it too -.- Anyway, if it's real, it's a really good quest reward. :D
  3. Their customer support is quite good? REally. How come I can't A. Send them a message. B. Call them. Basically we have no way to actually contact them which is TERRIBLE buisiness practice. Do you even know anything about customer support? You must not work a job.. A) What would you say? Did you lose your account? Are you having trouble with your bills? If you're not, then why the hell are you pestering them? B) goto A It's apparent that YOU know nothing of customer support. 406 employees (2007 December) can't be bothered to wait on you hand-and-foot you know, they've actually got important stuff they have to work on. Or you're probably one of those folk that would prefer no updates as opposed to fan-tastic CS. Grow up, quit whining about every time Jagex sneezes without a hanky, and move on already.
  4. The only problems that Jagex should ever have to respond to you are related to your account (lost password, hacking, banned, appeals, etc), and billing, both of which are covered by the current CS system in place. Everything else can be answered by the community. Be logical [for once in your life, Eatrunearrow]: How many of us are there as opposed to how many of them there are? What do we *have* to contact Jagex for? Or do you need to vent directly to a JMod who's probably sick and tired of shrugging their shoulders?
  5. I've got even worse news for you. The game requirements you listed would mean that your Presario wouldn't meet the minimum requirements. I know this because an AMD Athlon 64 3500+ clocks in at 2.2GHz, and the highest you could *theoretically* upgrade on a Presario F700 series would be 2.1GHz processor. [i know, I've actually considered it for my laptop.] Also note that it expects 2GB for Vista, whereas you have less than 1GB. No wonder it lags. You can't play the game on this laptop, but don't let that stop you from getting an extra two gigs for it. It's running Vista, so it can use all the RAM it can get. [Oh, and to answer your question directly: No. No happening way.]
  6. So...what are your specs? Figure this out through Start > Programs > Accessories > System Information.
  7. Here's the issue with this debate. Mousekeys can't be seen as unfair since it's built in to every major OS out there. It also raises the debate of whether or not a program can tell if a program or a human is moving a mouse, since, when configured properly, my own mousekeys on Ubuntu mimic the motions of a normal mouse. If every major OS has it built-in to them, and all people have to do is turn it on, then why shouldn't they use it? It isn't like they're going out to some shady 3rd party to get the software, nor is it like it jumps to coordinate points (at least, mine won't). @BBC: Why would you make it illegal to not use mousekeys? You CANNOT tell if the user itself is using a mouse or is using a program to use the mouse. You don't know if the person is using a wireless mouse, and through an unfortunate scenario, their batteries die. You don't know if they have a hotkey to turn mousekeys on so they can at least log out of the game. You can't tell me that you do either, since it's not likely that you have the ability to write Java software to detect this. I'll willingly believe that it's not illegal to use in RS since it wouldn't make sense for them to ban us for using it. Someone provide some hard evidence that it is illegal, or that it shouldn't be used. This debate has piqued my interest. [EDIT] I found the misspelling of "perfect" kinda humorous in your statement there, War Junky. No offense by it or anything, just made me chuckle a little bit.
  8. Off the top of my head I'm not sure. Perhaps it has to do with the formatting tools that you're using. I'm unfamiliar with Windows' built-in formatting scheme, but it could be due to that software.
  9. This. It's rather clear that you've already put the essential information in while at your apartment, and it's rather clear that machines can connect to it just fine. If you don't know the credentials, but your parents' house has a modem with an Ethernet plug, you could daisy-chain the Internet connection to the Linksys router.
  10. What an amazing thing Google is. [Source] I can also confirm beyond a shadow of a doubt that GNOME/KDE also have the ability to turn Mousekeys on. Well, with that in tow, that raises the debate that it really isn't an unfair advantage, as all OSes have it built-in to them; all it requires is someone to activate them.
  11. You DO know that the 30th is next Monday, right? No... the thirtieth is next Sunday. My bad. Must've misread my calendar. :P
  12. You DO know that the 30th is next Monday, right? Moving on, this at least let me find a place to find one of these cards. I'm done with sending subscriptions in the mail, and this is a quick and inexpensive way for a college student to get membership for a little while.
  13. We all know there is other ways of doing this the spring and the ancient mace. This is why it actually helps to read it; emphasis mine.
  14. I find it kinda tough to believe that there hasn't been a picture of one in seven months, too - perhaps people don't like posting pics of those... That's why I offered the "bug" theory. I refuse to blatantly say that they've been removed from Treasure Trails, since for all we know, it's just not true. Who knows, the next time you or I do a clue, we could get one. :P I really don't think that they could have forgotten for 7 months, especially when the KB updates every [other] week or so. On the number of people doing clues, I think that number has fallen way down. Consider that players used to do them practically all the time, and nowadays, you see less people going for it (mostly because they coveted 3rd Age, learned how rare it was, gave the scroll a bad hand gesture, and moved on). The other rewards have fallen significantly, and as such, the amount of effort required to do a scroll and the chances of getting a valuable drop are potential deterrents. This could attribute to the decrease in pages. Again, I won't say that they're removed completely - we don't really know that for certain. It could be a bug, it could be that people aren't doing a lot of them anymore, it could be a misplaced number in the algorithm. Well, I'm glad that you did. :P
  15. Like I said earlier, there is 99% accuracy as far as the KB goes. I have reason to believe that Jagex's information is correct on this, because the Treasure Trail guide hasn't had those items removed since the masks + Vyre burning came out. Not to mention, the guide also includes information about the new treasure trail items as well. Be reasonable about this - if it really couldn't be obtained from treasure trails anymore, would Jagex intentionally leave that information there just to screw with our minds? Also, to GaVaTi and Great_one: Thank you for missing my point. Just because an item is exponentially rare doesn't mean that it can't be acquired. GaVaTi, you posted a drop of a Shield Left Half, and there are assuredly dozens more pictures like that on this board. Do you have a ballpark of how many NPCs on average you have to kill for one? On that chord, Third Age is about as rare as a Shield Left Half from a level-45 Skeleton, too, yet people get that as well. If you didn't get the point from there, what I'm going at is that the item can be received from Treasure Trails, and due to the random nature of the luck system of RS, that can't really be used as proof against the notion. However, I'm willing to believe that there is either a bug in the Treasure Trail system, or people aren't doing them as much anymore.
  16. So the objective here then is to prove that you can still get God pages from clues? 21-22-90-57941573 <- Forum Mod post Treasure Trail Guide, third paragraph Keep in mind that a lot of players could be having a really, really, really bad patch of luck. That's what happens with pesudo-random generators.
  17. That was the deductive reasoning I used as well... That deductive reasoning could be applied to Shield Left Halves, too -- no one has posted a drop of those in a while, and they're exponentially rare, but does that mean that they're never dropped? More or less, I'm inclined to believe the official source on this, which is Jagex. I'll admit that the KB isn't always correct, but the information you get from them is typically 99% correct. Not a test sample of infinity, but a test sample to match the odds (e.g. If the odds are behaving like 1 in 65536, you'd need 65536 people to do the test, and based on odds, one should get a page, but that's not guaranteed, OR, you can have one person do 65536 trials (yeah freaking right)).
  18. It seems like people are thinking that the rewards for this quest are going to be on the conservative side, ranging for something as moot as a "useful" familiar to a new skill. I really, really doubt both ends of the spectrum here. Most of the Master quests (the old highest level quest) give out generous amounts of XP, from 4K to [God knows how much in total from RFD], new and useful items, access to unique locations, or a mix of them all. With this Grandmaster quest category, I'm willing to bet that we'll see a stretch, as far as XP goes, from 12K to 60K. That's only if we follow the trends in quest difficulty to rewards -- I really don't know. The Master quests also grant us unique abilities, or let us join elite guilds. I don't think that we'll be able to do any of that with this upcoming Grandmaster quest, but something tells me that we'll be granted, in some form, Dragon smithing. I doubt that it'll be similar to traditional Mining->Smithing -- we'll probably get the raw bar or some form of bar intermediate to work with. I'm also skeptical if we'll be able to see any dragon higher than Mithril -- I'm thinking that we'll get the opportunity to fight against Dragonkin themselves. I don't think that any new Slayer monster will come into play. Kinda seems silly, unless that Slayer monster drops the Plate or the Dragon bars themselves. If (and only if) the Dragon Plate is released, it will theoretically complete the set. Hence, there's a possibility for a set effect with Dragon. [i would also like to see damage-reducing armor as well - it seems absurd that we can get gobsmacked for 77s, and all our armor does is reduce that chance.] Lastly, I'm thinking that everything will become crystal clear as far as rewards go when the requirements are released. I'm believing that we're going to require no less than 75 Smithing and some level of Crafting with this one, as well as high Magic, Prayer, and Hitpoints. Slayer could also factor in, at probably level 80 or 85.
  19. I beg to differ, since it's clear that the metallic canes were never released with the pages. Yet, they've clearly been added to the Prayer guide.
  20. This is correct; you can only get them from Vyrewatch burning now. Explain this: From: http://www.runescape.com/kbase/viewarti ... le_id=1728
  21. The question is, why did they become so rare all of a sudden? It was trivial to collect all complete books back when they came out...what the heck happened? Did they forget to add a number someplace in their random number generator? Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the masks come out before the Vyrewatch burning?
  22. I've been using 8.10 since the first of the month, and I've only had one real discrepancy with it. My wireless is Atheros, and the new ath5k drivers for it suck, in a word. I did like the fact that they worked out of the box, but those drivers still need work. Once I got rid of them, reinstalled the (more reliable) ath_pci driver, I haven't had any problems with it. As for NM 0.7: I really like the fact that I can maintain both ethernet and wireless connections simultaneously.
  23. It really depends. If they're being used to replace either a broken mouse or a busted touchpad, then they should be legal. If you're not, then it should be outlawed. Only problem is that the program can't tell which scenario is the likely cause, so it'll probably get outlawed. From there, we enter a huge gray area -- does it really count as third party?
  24. It looks like a dramatic improvement over the previous line of quad-core Intels, but I think I'll wait about six months before I think about buying one. The processor's price pretty much hit my expectations for an initial launch, but the motherboard's price is pretty silly.
  25. I built this as part of another thread on this forum, and it's something that I'm looking into getting. It comes in at under $400, as long as you have a monitor, keyboard, and speakers. AMD Athlon X2 AMD Athlon X2 4850e 2.5GHz -- 45W BIOSTAR NF520-A2 AMD Motherboard OCZ 4GB (2 x 2GB) RAM Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 400GB HDD PNY VCG86512GXWB-OC GeForce 8600 GT GPU Lite-On Black DVD/CD burner w/Lightscribe ATOP Red ATX Mid-Tower Case Logisys 480W ATX 12V PSU Comes in at about $379. If you want, you can double up the hard disks for an extra $50.
