Just go anyway. You won't know what you could miss out on if you don't go.from the last amount of house parties where I was the only single person, not much. I'll go but I get a feeling it's going to turn out like I think. That negative attitude isn't going to get you anywhere. You complain when you never get invited to anything, and yet you still complain when you do get invited. Just go and have a good time, you shouldn't make it your first priority to try and find single girls. What Jeff said. Just go and enjoy yourself and don't get hung up on trying to find a girl. Seriously, they can smell desperation. Just go and have a good time, a few drinks or whatever and chill out and get to know some new people. Congratulations!
  2. Seemingly they did capture him alive but he was killed in a gunfight during transit to a hospital. I'd have liked him to stand trial mainly, as Will said, we'd be able to get information about the Lockerbie bombing, amongst other things. That was a big point in most of the papers up here today.
  3. Having a good night out with friends. Playing drums. The feeling on your last shift of work when you know you've got a week or two off. Smug as hell.

Worked then came home and watched the Gaddafi thing unfold. A riveting day.

Heh, sounds like the bar me and my friends frequent. The owner is the nicest guy you could meet, who isn't afraid of doing a bit of work himself and can regularly be found pulling pints behind the bar. Owners/Bosses like that can make a [cabbage] sounding job the best job in the world, which isn't common at all.
  6. I quite enjoyed the beta, looking past all the bugs. I thought the torches were quite a nice touch, if a little useless. I'll probably get it when its released which'll give me another shooter to play until Skyrim comes out.
  7. Good to have it up and running again. Well done to the admins and crew who've no doubt had a headache with all of this.

Scunnered - To be sick of something/fed up. I quite like "elaborate" as well. Can you elaborate on your elaborate plan?

They played a really small venue over here last week. I wish I'd found out about it sooner as it'd have been great to see them up closer.

Found a £20 note on the ground once and someone's wallet some other time. I kept the twenty as there was nobody around who it could belong to but I handed the wallet in to the police station as it had bank cards and other important [cabbage] in it that would be a headache to replace. Also pictures of the dudes kids, which would've made me feel guilty as [bleep] if I'd kept it.
  11. I don't mind text messaging so much but a few friends of mine are constantly on Facebook on their phones when we're out. It's almost feels like our company isn't enough...

This, pretty much. I also feel pretty awkward when theres a few of us chatting away (normally at work, it happens all the time there) in the staffroom when a boss or supervisor walks in and all the conversation just dies completely as they sit down. The conversation will come to an abrupt end then everyone sits in silence for like 5 minutes until someone leaves or someone starts a new conversation. Nobody, seemingly, wants to be that person.
  13. Yeah, I don't understand this. Whats so bad about hooking up with someone who stays on the same floor?
  14. I didn't make a conscious decision to quit as I just kind of got bored and spent less time online. Most of my in game friends didn't play anymore, I hadn't kept up to date with the game content and just didn't feel like playing in general. I get members every so often when the mood takes me but it never leads to me playing to the same extent as I did when I really enjoyed Rs.

This is something I'll never understand. A friend of mine got a tattoo at the start of the summer. At first he took it dead serious, done some research on the different studios about here and pieces their artists had done before and had a list of very rough estimates as to how long it'd take and how much it would cost then after all that, he chose to go with the place that would do it for the cheapest price as he couldn't afford to get it done in some of the more reputable (and more expensive) shops. I'd have waited until I had the cash together to get it done in the best place possible, even if it did end up costing more.
  16. The drinks in a few of the clubs here are ridiculously cheap on certain (student) nights but the music is always [cabbage], no exceptions. There are some clubs as well that have a reputation as being "classier" which just means they can double the entry price (which annoys me to hell anyway) and put the price of drink through the roof. I used to go to clubs a lot, not so much anymore. I much prefer chilling in a decent pub or bar now than heading to a club.

Arthur!! I love that show! (note that I used present tense) I have the theme song as a ringtone on my phone. Arthur was amazing. Probably one of my favourites from when I was younger. The theme tune was also sung by Ziggy Marley, which a lot of people don't know.

Man i haven't had starburst since i was in highschool :o No, we have Starburst. You can tell how old someone is if they call them Opal Fruits. Currently eating a bag of Tesco Value Cashew nuts. [bleep] paying £4.50 for a big packet when I can get these bad boys for 80 pence.
  19. For me it's the exact opposite - I remember voices easier than names. I didn't think I was bad at remembering names until Freshers week at Uni. Met so many new people and could barely remember half of their names. I could however, remember what they were studying which was weird. Luckily at work we all wear name badges so that's that sorted.
  20. Someone who isn't a [bleep] and contributes their viewpoint to topics.

Agreed. He's hilarious on 8 Out of 10 Cats but his stand up isn't as good. I love watching stand up. Billy Connolly, Kevin Bridges and Lee Mack are favourites of mine at the minute. I haven't recognised many of the comedians names from across the pond though so I'm wondering how people feel about comedians from different countries, say the difference between British and American comedy? I know theres not one particular thing that constitutes "British" or "American" comedy but there are bound to be differences.

Hah, same. Reading Cracked is part of my morning routine before work .

In a pub here it's normally a pint (568ml) or a 330ml bottle. It depends really on what they were drinking as theres no set measurement for "a beer".
  24. I used to get pretty nervous doing presentations at school. I'd have notes and stuff which kept me on track but found that when I was really nervous, I'd pronounce words wrong and just generally get myself tongue tied and flustered. Started playing in a band during school with some people I knew which helped immensely in getting rid of stage fright with all the little shows and local band nights we went to. The first few were nerve wracking but once we had a few under our belt the nerves during it weren't bad at all. I still get a little nervous before I start doing a presentation/playing live (which never happens now) but once I start and get comfortable, all the nerves vanish. Practicing whatever it is you're going to be doing is greatly recommended. At school, they were all about looking at your audience when you were delivering your presentation, not talking whilst looking at your note papers for the duration. Instead of looking people directly in the eye all the time, which can get off putting, I always picked a spot on the wall at the back just above head height to look at when I felt the nerves getting to me.
