The Last Frontier of Runecrafting: The Soul Altar
Actually, they might not even need a new spell book for that. 65 - Water Wave (Blood Rune) 70 - Earth Wave (Blood Rune) 75 - Fire Wave (Blood Rune) 80 - Air ??? (Soul Rune) 85 - Water ??? (Soul Rune) 90 - Earth ??? (Soul Rune) 95 - Fire ??? (Soul Rune) If something like that occurred, it would certainly create a demand for them since the spells would probably hit in the 26-30 damage range.

The Last Frontier of Runecrafting: The Soul Altar
Don't forget we also have that big black square still in the North West part of the wilderness. It is easily possible that the soul alter could be hidden within the ice there. As a progression, higher alters tend to be in more dangerous/secluded areas away from banks, and traveling to the high level wilderness to an alter would be very dangerous. Since the map there has been left blank for quite some time and no content was placed there, I get the feeling that might be where its located.

say what!
Correct, I was not talking about melee accuracy *bonuses* on armor, but my point was (including levels and armor), there is nothing that *reduces* melee accuracy, which every other class has, either in the form of armor bonuses or levels. According to the combat triangle, you should use the armor type of which you are using as offensive type. If you are using range, you should be using range armor. And according to the triangle, you should have accuracy penalties for using a different class of armor than the offensive class you are using. (Eg. Penalty for trying to range in melee armor) Every class has those accuracy penalties (either by armor stats or levels) for using different defensive armor EXCEPT melee. (You should have a penalty for meleeing in ranger/mage armor, but you don't, which there lies the problem) I agree, melee armor shouldn't get attack bonuses because that is the job of the attack skill. But it should have NEGATIVE melee attack bonuses on armor of the mage and range classes because you should not be allowed to use those armors with melee without penalty. Since the attack skill + melee offensive stats are responsible for melee accuracy, the only way to reduce melee accuracy is either reduce your attack level (which wont work) or make range/mage armor have negative melee offensive stats.

say what!
[/hide] Melee gets its bonus from armor, but mainly from the Attack skill. Range and Magic are the Equivalent of the strength skill. Where it relates to higher hits at higher levels. Your main accuracy bonus (what the attack skill is...) comes from your armor. Thus that is why they get huge negatives for wearing counter class or melee armor and melee doesn't. Because 2 stats are used to train melee 1 for range and magic. Defense for all... I find it amazing that i might be the only one who's thought of this after all the years RS has been around... /post Actually your post further proves my point. Not /post. Looking at just range, like you said, the major part of the range accuracy comes from the Range Bonus of armor. Certain types of armor dont have range bonuses, which means loss in range accuracy. Melee on the other hand, has almost NO negative bonuses. So for example you have 99 Melee Attack & Strength regardless if you wear mage armor, rune armor, or dragon hide armor because melee accuracy is based on the attack skill and not the armor you are wearing. For a rough example: With melee you have 99 melee attack when you wear melee armor, 99 melee attack when you wear dragon hide, and 99 melee attack when you wear mage armor. With mage you have 99 mage attack when you wear mage armor, 80 mage attack when wearing dragonhide armor, and 50 mage attack when wearing melee armor. With range you have 99 range attack when you wear range armor, 80 range attack when you wear mage armor, and 50 range attack when you wear melee armor. You see my point? Melee has no penalty in accuracy no matter what armor your wear, your always 99 attack and strength. Mage and range has restrictions in armor which give a loss of accuracy. THATS why there is a problem. Melee needs to have a loss of accuracy on certain armor like the other classes do. EDIT: Melee SHOULD be like this: With melee you have 99 melee attack when you wear melee armor, 80 melee attack when you wear mage armor, 50 melee attack when you wear dragon hide armor. Since melee accuracy comes from the attack skill and not the armor bonuses, you'd need a high negative melee accuracy bonus in certain armor types to compensate for this.

say what!
The spells or power of magic are not under or overpowered. They are basically where they should be. When people say "mage is underpowered" they are referring to a specific situation when a melee player puts on dragonhide and will continue to melee (with a high mage defense) without any penalty on the triangle. According to the triangle, you should not be able to melee effectively in any armor that gives high mage defense. (Strictly looking at offensive bonuses) Range -In ranger armor (effective) -In mage armor (loss of accuracy) -In melee armor (Major loss of accuracy) Mage -In mage armor (effective) -In ranger armor (loss of accuracy) -In Melee armor (Major loss in accuracy) Melee -In mage armor (effective) -In range armor (effective) -In melee armor (effective) As you can see, melee can use any armor to battle effectivly without penalty, while range and magic are limited. This is the issue which makes the triangle broken. If you were to ask me personaly, I would say the melee defensive stats of dragonhide and mystic armor should be swapped. If we do see changes in mage getting "balanced", it will not come from new spells or magic being enchanced. It will come from dragon hide getting a melee and/or strength reduction. It could also come from mystic armor increasing in melee defense as well, but I can see dragonhide stats changing in the future.

Holiday Musings and a permanent solution to rares
To understand the situation I think we need to ask the question: "Why would people desire rares such as party hats or bunny ears?" Answer? Because they are rare and not that many people have them. Its human nature to desire something someone else has but you cannot receive. Even if you don't really want the item itself, its the fact you cannot receive it which makes you want it. If people really wanted items like bunny ears/party hats for the sake of having all the holiday items, they would also be complaining if they didn't receive items like the Easter ring or Ice Amulet. But they aren't; by reading your post, the people you are defending only really desire the items such as the scythe because only a few people have them. If your idea went into place and everyone obtains the item, they would be as valued to people as a Christmas scarf. Yes, Jagex did make a mistake keeping tradeable rares into the game, however there is little they can do now. Like others have mentioned I think there are ways to move rares out of the game, but is it worth the trouble? After all, a rare is simply just another item in a game like a godsword is. Un-tradeable Holiday items are not just for fun, they are designed to show how long you have been playing. There would be no reason to change the way things are now just cause newbie10123 wants an item that was released 3 years ago. And yes, I read your whole post. I don't need to put in some silly words showing I read it.

I'm not an expert, but besides the surreal numbers, it seems like a pretty decent fake to me. Yeah, besides the numbers being thewrong color and the old bank interface, it's not that bad. I'm sure it used to be a fine quality fake. Before Jagex added in the slash in the 0's and the green text it was pretty decent. The only problem is the font. I lol'd at willows and crystal stuff Actually, those are magic logs :P. Before their icon was changed. Old Dragon Chain icon too. Any by the looks of it, rune essence when there was no such thing as "pure" essence.

Why would people crash soloers at bandos?
Its because many times the Lootshare worlds are full, so that forces teams to go on non-lootshare worlds. And IMO @ the OP, if you are soloing, and someone is trying to leach off you tanking, simply stand under the general. He will dance with you, and after about 4 hits of your "leacher" (without him hitting you) he will switch targets to them, with a shocking punch they wont be expecting. Then, they will either teleport, or be tanking for you.

10-Feb-2009 Soul Wars Minigame
In what aspect? The game gives no summoning xp as rewards. The charms given as rewards are very minimal. You can get 2-3x as many on a normal slayer task for the same amount of time. Infact, other than using summons for combat during the game, or the act of using shards on the obelisk (which gives no summoning xp), there isnt any relation to summoning at all during the game. (other than the charms)

Quest Storylines
[hide=]You find out later on, that the King was poisoning the citizens to make the "plague" look legit. You also par-take in adding poison to the food supplies in the city on a later quest of that series. (Mournings Part 1, I believe it was)[/hide]

Soul Wars Abyssal Minion Gives Free Abyssal Whips.
Alot of people play Runescape just for fun, and to them Xp/Gp is just a byproduct of playing the game. If they consider it fun to set a goal of getting a high level pet they can show off to friends, there's nothing wrong with it. Its not a waste of time if you think you will get enjoyment out of it. Some people see levels as a way of enjoyment, while some see getting pets or other things like mini game rewards as enjoyment. You cannot say one is better than the other, as Runescape is about fulfilling personal goals. Just because your goals are in xp, dosen't mean goals for certain items are worthless.

10-Feb-2009 Soul Wars Minigame
Not true at the slightest. The first day of release, I pushed a bandage in the middle of my inventory by mistake and it healed using the highest one in my inventory. Those bandages are the fastest healing object in runescape. I have healed from 20 hp to 92 in 2 seconds. ;) On a different note, I was in World 144. Some people had convinced a load of people that by digging in the graveyard by the waiting rooms, you could dig up 1m cash. If you tried to tell them they were beeing tricked and lied to, they would go into complete denial and call you a noob for not believing in it. :P Yup. It's nearly impossible to get AGS Spec+Blitz ko'd if you've got bandages and you're paying attention to your health. [/hide] its really bad if someones standing next to the table taking bandages, thier almost invinceble! Yup, that's a big gripe of mine. If I'm fighting them and it doesn't seem like they're slow enough to get killed, I give up. It's just not worth the effort when I could be helping defend the obelisk or the Avatar. Actually I think that's just one of the many useful tactics of the game. Being a decoy or diversion in this game is a VERY useful strategy that can ultimately win your team the game. 10 enemy players focused on you instead of working the the obelisk or control points gives your team a 10 player advantage in those areas, especially if you can tank for a long period of time. It prevents them from holding key control points which gives you the upper edge. I have been going right at the start of the game to sabotage their grave area, making my team quickly have possession of all 3 control points. Either way if people there attack me, they waste their time killing one person while my team advances, or i take over their control point. Either way gives my team a HUGE advantage. My favorite thing to do is round them up at their grave area, pull them outside, and then freeze them outside, while I run in gaining my teams possession of the area. So this is just the one of many tactics this game offers. Its actually a lot of CW tactics when you get down to it. Its all about making the enemy focus on you and not their goal to win.

But.. in retrospect, 32 hours isn't all that much. Gold CW armor takes like a minimum of 600 hours? Both are "just for looks", so i don't see a problem with 32 hours of gameplay for the highest reward. The game is a lot of fun, but does have its balance issues.. If an enemy takes control of the middle and your re-spawn grave, it is almost completely impossible for you to regain control or tie the game. To make regaining control easier, the way the obelisk works should be changed. If an obelisk is controlled by a team, only that team can use it, however if it is not controlled, any team can use it. This allows teams to regain lost ground a little easier even if all their control stations have been taken over. EDIT: Another idea too is that, when your Avatar dies it sends a last resort attack to your opponents Avatar lowering the slayer requirement to attack by 50. So you cannot simply be on the offensive all the time. You'd have to use defensive tactics too or you'll find your opponents catching up pretty quick. I kinda like that idea.

Gravestones: Death not so Serious?
Bork aside, here's another problem with gravestones. They collapse straight away if you log out, what's the point of this? Is there some technical limit? I don't think there are any technical limits with it. Its more there to still provide some danger to a death situation. Also FYI regarding gravestones if you didn't know already: Regardless if you log out or not, the items stay there even if the gravestone isn't. If its blessed, your items stay there for 60 minutes, even if you log out, change worlds, log back into your world and go to your death pile. Same concept with the 5 minute timer if its not blessed. And Runescape is one of the few games that actually lose items when you die. Most games simply make you lose a few hours of xp instead. On that note, even with gravestones, Runescape still has a greater penalty for death than most other MMORPG's. The grave system is still not a "joke" though. Just the other day one of my friends clan mates lost about 10m in equipment at a Sara duo because his clan mate only had about 30 prayer to bless his grave and they couldn't get back in time. Graves do make some situations easier (which isn't a bad thing), but there is still a large aspect of danger if something goes wrong.

Feb 9 2009: The Future of Runescape
While some people might be slightly dissapointed at the removal of the BTS, this is actually a very good thing. Something they needed to do a long long time ago. It appears instead of saying: "this month we will release X, Y and Z on these dates", they are going to just say "we will release X, Y, and Z in the future, and heres some previews and hints on what it will involve." This gives Jagex: A) An unlimited time table to not rush projects. Projects will be released when they are done, not on a schedual. (This also eliminates alot of bugs and improves quality) B) People will be more excited when an update comes because its not expected. C) Getting feedback from players, as we can give opinions on an update long before it begins into development. (This leads to higher quality updates) looking at all those important points, I think this new system, new year, and new ideas will be the start of the new age for Runescape. It looks like its going to be a huge improvement.

Tip.It Times: 8 Feb 2009 "Penguin Bannings' Addressed"
Regarding the Penguin Banning article: I think what the author is saying is true. I also think Jagex needs to start being a little more stern about some of the things they do. Sometimes to be a loving parent, you have to be mean and stand your ground to get a point across. I think Jagex needs to be mean sometimes and stand their ground no matter what, for players to get this message and show them who's really in control of this game. The penguin bannings were a step in the right direction for them. Not if they only did stuff like that to other rules and not just #4.

Jagex Should Use Youtube
TBH, I kinda agree with the OT poster. I wish Jagex would do something simliar to what Bungie did with halo 2 and 3. I would like to see previews of some content, even if we don't know what the heck the content is about. I would also like to see plenty of "behind the scenes" videos that show them talking about updates, or talking about working at Jagex. Maybe give us a feel for what its like for them. Showing us how hard they really work would certainly give the community more of a friendly feeling. Jagex likes to keep everything in "deep secrets". But I don't see any problem with them telling us about a certain update they are going to release in 6 months, rather than telling us only the month of the update. Monthly videos showing people talking about future content or designs in the game are something I would like to see. Maybe even videos explaining WHY certain things are the way they are in the game. Sometimes when you hear the reasoning for something, its not as simple as you first thought it was.

The New Shields
Actually that was done with GWD if im not mistaken. Proof: [hide=Double GWD Drops][/hide] The first few days of GWD's release there was a "glitch" which made some drops doubled. It's not clear if it was an honest glitch or a way to quickly put the items into the game. Either way, they should have done that with sigils too, to at least put a higher ammout of them out there. Either way, I agree that the drop rate should be slightly higher than what it is now. Super rare drops are fine, but super rare drops from an un-soloable and highly deadly monster is totally different.

The New Shields
+1 thats because accuracy is most important if you already have a good defense level. The Shields are like a ZGS. They are not practical for most activities for their price, but there are a few situations in which they excel GREATLY in over everything else. Those situations make them worth every gp they cost. Otherwise, they aren't really worth it.

No-one trying to decipher Chaos Elemental message this time?
Well focusing on this part of Azzanadra's Letter: He seams to imply that the "death-sleep" is a Ritual. Rituals are activities/tasks over a period of time that are repeated, which means the "death-sleep" isn't actually death, but a long slumber/rebirth of sorts. It must of happened before too if he knows what it is. Crossing that with the CE's Message: Since Azzanadra is telling us that Ralvash is in a "death-sleep" this agrees with the fact "Ralvash is gone". What still confuses me is the word "Muspah". It is in a semi-colon after. You use a semicolon when you link two independent clauses with no connecting words. That being said, it seams like the word "Muspah" is describing Ralvash? But what is a "Muspah"? Anagram maybe? Either way, its saying Ralvash is frozen somewhere in ice. Wherever shadows are shadowed. "Wherever shadows are shadowed" is just another way to say wherever something that wants to hide is hidden. Basically, somewhere not out in the open. The only ice areas that we know of that arnt out in the open are lunar,Far north, and Ice wilderness region. I believe this last comment is aimed directly at Zaros and Lucien. Strange, one day Lucien is almost about to take over powers of Zamorak, and Zaros to open its unblinking empty eye. Someone has been watching. Also take note, the CE refers to a Mahjarrat every time it says "a shadow".

Gravestones: Death not so Serious?
Then what's the point of buying it? Using it in safe areas :-s At Armadyl GWDs, I wear zammy bracers instead of my barrows gloves and glory instead of fury to make sure my Armadyl armor keeps if I die. I go by the assumption "if I die I wont get anything back". That way, if the worst does happen, i'm not disappointed.
