  1. Yes it can. Assignments are given at random, so the possibility that you get the same task after canceling is there. And with few slayer monsters to give it might happen a lot with Duradel/Lapalok/Disciple of the Devourer(whoever you like) . What the OP is trying to say that most people are not grasping is that if you cancel a task, it means you don't wan't to do it so it should be eliminated from the possible tasks for your next assignment, kind of like a 1 time task ban. If you cancel a task, you shoul dnot be getting the same task. Now, if you cancel it, get something else and then get the task you cancelled again, thats perfectly fair, you should have disabled it, but you really should not get a task you just cancelled as your next task, it completly defeats the point of cancelling. You cancel a task so you don't have to do it (ie you don't want that task now but you may wan't it another time in the future). What part of getting the exact same task after cancelling it helps. Its a waste of points, the cancel is doing nothing. Like I said, it should elimiate that task (that type of monster actualy) from the availible list of monsters for your next task (and only your next task). But what people are trying to show you is, this is nothing new, even with the smoking kills system. Here's a better example: OLD SYSTEM: 63 Black Demons 45 Iron Dragons (Skip with Burthrope) 20 Skeletons 32 Iron Dragons (Skip with Burthrope) 12 Monkeys 54 Iron Dragons NEW SYSTEM: 63 Black Demons 45 Iron Dragons (Cancel for 30 points) 32 Iron Dragons (Cancel for 30 points) 54 Iron Dragons The ONLY difference is that you don't have to do a burthrope task inbetween. The slayer system is not designed to let you block more than 4 monsters anytime you want if you have the points, otherwise we'd have more than 4 slots. Its only designed to reshuffle your task and hope you get a different one. So this is nothing new, the only difference is your using points, rather than doing a meaningless task like skeletons. We had the same exact chances before as we do now, to be re-assigned a task a task after canceling it (either by burthrope or slayer points), the only difference is with the points you don't do a task inbetween. So no, this is the way its supposed to be, because it hasn't changed from how it was originally.. I don't see why that's an issue.
  2. Ya it happens sometimes, but its only bad if its a task you HATE. Nobody complains about 3 Abyssal Demon tasks in a row! My Advice: What I do is do shilo until I get bored of repeated tasks, then move to sumona. One thing I like about sumona is that she has VARIETY, while shilo doesn't. In fact she has almost TWICE as many monsters on her list than shilo does. (I would wish Jagex would give more higher level tasks to shilo like Avians and such..) Sure she has some lower level tasks on there, but sometimes those are a nice breather to metal dragons and demons all the time. Typically the best way to go about doing this is: Tasks 1-5 do Sumona. Tasks 6-10 do Shilo. This way you get the max points on your 10th tasks by using shilo, but also get a bit of variety in what your killing without losing some good tasks in the process. This typically also cuts down on getting tasks in a row because if you get steel dragons on tasks 4 and 5, you cant get them until task 1 again. Vise versa is true for sumona tasks.
  3. Actually that's not a myth, its true, but taken out of context. It can heal up to 50, or boost some stats.. But it can also do 50 damage. I can see it now, next Tipit General Discussion thread: "OMG, Poison Chalice REPLACES Sharks in PvP!!!@!" Little joke on the kebab replaces swordies in f2p thread if you didnt know.
  4. Not true. I can confirm it is 100% protection. Otherwise, please explain why I never get hit by their magic attacks in full melee gear :P You are right though in many things. The freeze effect probably should be associated with the magic attack, but not available in F2P. The melee attack should poison, not the ranged attack. Actually I can vouch that it is true, and there's a reason why most people don't know why. When you pray magic, the AI of the rev tells it to not use any magical attacks. (I suppose in a sense you could consider that almost 100% protection) It will simply use range or melee, even if your in full rune. Now very rarely they might still use the magic attack, but its very unlikely. Ive had it happen only once or twice before, where I still got tb'ed/hit while praying mage. Typically unless you run out of melee range while your praying mage, they wont use it, ever. And btw for the record its actually 40% not 50% protection. But I do agree they need to be toned down in f2p and beefed up in p2p. But I do not think their drops should be changed. Ways the tone them down in f2p: - Reduce the max hit in half. - Cannot tb (unless tb is given to f2p). Ways to beef them up in p2p: - All 3 of their attacks not only have their normal special effects, but can disease you as well. (Which can be very lethal in long term activity in the wilderness) - Allow Higher level rev's to summon revs of similar combat levels. Eg. A 126 knight can summon orcs and below to help them out. - Poison increased to 6 damage. - Range has a chance to freeze from 5-20 seconds. - One special attack. The ability to hit one significantly higher hit while reducing a combat stat. Similar to a BGS special. As for their drops, Revs are designed to be a FEAR replacement for pkers, not a drop replacement. If they gained a good assortment of drops, people could constantly hunt them, making them almost always occupied and thus not providing any fear to the normal wildy clue-er. But I do feel for people who do manage to kill them, a rare drop is needed, such as a holy elixer. But their common drops should not change. A more valuable rare drop would be fine though. I think the best way to beef them up in P2P is to add stat reducing content. This makes them harder without actually making them way overpowered.
  5. yeah its really laggy playing on a new zealand world in the us Actually that's not *completely* true. Its all how (or where) the packets are sent. For example: When surfing the web, lets say you go to http://www.tip.it The data does not go straight from your computer to Tipit's server. The data is split up in "packets" and sent all across the world wide network finding different paths to the easiest way to get to the server. Sometimes a packet might end up going from your computer to Japan, California, and then finally to the Tipit Server because that is the fastest route. The same principle is for any data being sent on the web, including Runescape. Most times severs next to you will be faster, but thats not always the case. Say you live in Florida, data might be sent to UK and back before it gets to the sever in your region, while server 2 could be a direct link to California. Even though the server in california is farther away, it might be faster, if that makes sense? But as for your specific problem it could be a number of things, such as old java versions, busy internet, or a slower computer.
  6. Did a little photoshopping. I'd be willing to fork out some gp for one if the warhammer/pickaxe looked like that ^
  7. Just when you thought it was safe: And Bonus reward points for getting him in a different world :P
  8. Its not a ranged attack, its only animation lag. The same example can be done with the Lumbridge Diary Ring. While running, restore energy on the ring, The animation will keep you in place, and after the animation is over, you will appear were you really were speeding up to catch up. The same is for claws or any item that has a "long" set of animation frames. The game doesn't rely on animations to function, they are just played out when you start an activity, which is why we get this. There are many other events out there that do it to players and monsters. Something that's not a glitch or bug, but kinda hard to get rid of in a programming point of view. Here's a good example, showing there are plenty of other things that do this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3OAk4szPkDM&fmt=18
  9. Claws are a bittersweet item. Their only overpowering factor is they hit so quick for their damage capability, and I am torn on if they really should be nerfed or not. While their speed is quick, claws do have one downfall, and that is luck. Unlike any other weapon, claws do have a MAX on their specials of about 70-80. (100% 50% 25% 25% is a perfect combo). A dds in theory COULD hit 40-60+ damage per special, adding up to much more damage by the time your specials are done. With a dds you have 4 times to get lucky to hit, claws you have 2 times, and are limited by its max. Just like a dds, or AGS, if you survive the specials, your opponent will be disoriented and have a much harder time to get a ko. In a time setting, lets look at a few things: Claws vs. DDS In 2 hits, assuming you get lucky, claws could do over 100 damage. Based on reaction time, In 2 hits, you can eat 0 shark healing 0 hp. If you eat a shark, it is likely it wont get added on until after the 2nd hit has be added. In 2 hits, assuming you get lucky, dds could do over 80 damage. Based on reaction time, In 2 hits, you can eat one shark healing 20 hp. DDS also gets 2 more hits, for a string of constant damage. If the specials don't kill you, it certainly takes out food, making your opponent weaker than you. Most players who pk (who can use these items) are within 80-90 hp. A lucky hit from either item COULD ko, but if you get unlucky, neither one will. Claws vs. AGS Claws hit 2 hits in the time an AGS hits once. In 2 hits, assuming you get lucky, claws could do over 100 damage. Based on reaction time, In 2 hits, you can eat 0 shark healing 0 hp. In 2 hits, assuming you get lucky, an AGS could do over 140 damage. Based on reaction time, In 2 hits, you can two sharks healing 40 hp. In proportion, claws and AGS really have the same damage potential. If anything AGS has one advantage, which is the element of a "Supprise special". Not knowing when a special attack will come. As soon as you pull claws out, you could put on melee prot. pray or start eating to increase your chances of survival. With an AGS you cant do that. Not to mention an AGS has higher natural hits, in the 40+ range so if your special fails, you can back it up. Now where claws get lethal is where pures are concerned. Most pures have low defence or lower hitpoints than normal, which is a bad thing for anyone who has their hands on these at an early level. If you have 90+ defence, claws dont hit near as much as they do on someone with 70, or even 1 defence. To show the lethally of a pure here is a video of my friend to show just how dangerous claws can really be at lower levels: http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=D3W1M9yFqR8&fmt=22 Point being, higher levels have enough defense to block most of their 2 hit lethality, while lower players do not. D claws are one of the only dragon items that DONT require a quest to use. I dont think a nerfing on the power is necessary. Instead I believe the claws should work as normal weapons, but you CANNOT USE THE SPECIAL until you complete While Guthix Sleeps. That is the best way to balance them without ruining them as a weapon.
  10. I believe you are correct, but there's a few con's in addition to pro's of using it. Pros: 1) It does hit very high for lower levels who can wield it. 2) It has a MUCH better special attack than a Whip/Scimmy - Anchor Special attack: (50% Special Bar) When using this attack, it doubles the odds of hitting the target. If successful, your enemy's Defence, Ranged, Attack or Magic level will lower by 10% of the damage done. 3) Higher hit KO potential than a whip as it can hit harder catching players off guard. 4) Its 2 handed, so you do not have to worry about losing a shield item slot on death. 5) It can use different combat styles, including crush, which is more effective on plate armor. Cons: 1) Slower than a whip/scim and thus has a higher chance to do less damage per time frame of a battle. If you don't get "high" hits on it enough to make your opponent eat, your [cabbaged]. 2) It is a non-tradeable item, and thus will not provide any loot for your opponent if he/she kills you. Some players may not fight you because of this. 3) Its heavy, so any running will be a little more drain on your run energy. 4) Its 2 handed, so you cannot use any accuracy boosting/def boosting shield slot items, such as a defender or Shield. Other than those, I know personal its a good weapon, even at higher levels, but not for training. Its a pvp specific weapon, as its to slow to train with.
  11. My First :D PS. If muggi is reading this. Fally 3 shield owns at caves. +7 prayer bonus and decent def, with only -2 range.
  12. I agree with this point, and Ill even take it one step further. Raising the HP will not solve anything, as its all about proportions. A monster hitting 50 on someone with 99 hp is the EXACT same thing as a monster hitting 100 on someone with 198 hp. The only difference is the numbers are larger, but the numbers don't matter. Its the proportion that matters. If you raise everyone's HP levels, you do 2 things: 1) Don't really make bosses "harder" as they still hit in the same proportions. 2) Give everyone higher HP so current monsters/bosses are so easy its not even funny. If you want a harder monster, they need to go about different ways to make it team-killed, rather than just "raise the HP cap". CB was a step in a good direction, but raising the HP cap wont solve anything. Anyways, RS is unique because it is a 1 player game if you chose it to be. That's what makes it different from WoW and not just another mmorpg out there. EDIT: The only way to create a true "Threat system" is to design a boss which hits up to 70+, but always attacks the player with the highest hp in the room, allowing the chance for players to get 2hitko'ed without a team, but easily kill-able with a larger team of players, while still providing a risk.
  13. It bugged for me as well. I figured out it was because I watered the corn. If you water the corn, the game thinks its "corn(watered)" rather than "corn", and doesn't check off the list. You need to plant the corn, then put the scarecrow in BEFORE you water them. Then it will check it off. Took me 2 tries to find that out.
  14. I had the opportunity to test out some claws for a few hours yesterday. I am 92 att, 94 str, 91 def. Claws are not all they are worked up to be. I was un-potted to see how they faired when you aren't super potted 20+ levels above your opponent's defense. Don't get me wrong, they are the best special weapon in the game in terms of ko potential, but like all weapons they rely on getting a good special to be effective. Without a good special, they excel at failing. (Fighting people around my f2p combat level) On 4 separate occasions, i hit 0-1. one time I hit 0-1 0-1. I almost never 2 hit an opponent, except when they weren't wearing armor. I came close, but did not 2hko the majority of the time. Most of my hits were in the 30-40's range per special. Keep in mind I was in max bonuses (full bandos, barrows gloves, ect..), and also tried in void. They are a good ko weapon, but not worth the high price in my opinion, unless you are using them for pking. But keep in mind, to all those above. I suggest you actually TRY out claws before you make points about them being all super powerful. Just as any other ko weapon, their effectiveness is 100% dependant on the special. I wont say a DDS is better, but claws are certainly not the 2hko everyone is assuming they are. You cant exactly compare claws KO potential to an AGS because a factor of the AGS is its ability to hit 40+ normally without a special. Speed wise if you were to both spec at the same time from the start, claws would likley win, however I have yet to see a non-pj DM of AGS vs. Claws. Claws are deadly, but if the spec misses, AGS excels as it can hit 40+ even if you get bad specials. Claws on their own hit 30's once in awhile, but most of the time, they hit about the same as a dds does. And yes, I have seen the pk videos. Keep in mind most people in those videos are PJ'ers, meaning their targets are under max hp when attacked. D Claws are good, but not as much as everyone assumes they are.
  15. That's interesting. Its possible it might be used for an upcoming quest. Perhaps these hints from the CE postbag: It talks about ice and a cave, so could possibly be related. Also, if it is sealed, like the CB entrance, it might be unlocked in the spirit realm. There could be a hidden portal somewhere in the area, or may be one in the future. But it wasn't there before, so it was defiantly put there for a reason. Chances are it wont be unlocked until whatever its for is released.
  16. Doing some more work on this: I still believe "Ralvash is gone" is an anagram, but I have yet to solve it. "Muspah, famous, sleeps with the fishies, if fishies frozen could be." - This Phrase may have a link to the first one. Muspah may also be an anagram. The phrase about the "fishies" implys that he/it is sleeping in the ice. This could either mean frozen in time, or physically frozen. I believe this might have something to do with the ice plateau, leading from the next section. "That's where the shadows are shadowed, and even the delvers don't dare." - This phrase is using a phrase infront of it, implying that shardows are showed where fishies could be frozen. The only place a fish could be frozen is in a lake of ice, or a glacier, unless they are talking about "frozen time". Delvers don't dare, is implying something about dwarves, since they are the delvers of the world. "Even the delvers don't dare" means its a place even someone who loves being underground wouldn't go. A new cave in the ice perhaps? "Bizarre: one day it's almost time for a shadow to shift - and a shadow to open its unblinking, empty eye." - The point I notice most in this is the comment "Bizarre". As in something that wasn't expected to happen? This may be a hint at the Dragon Kin as nobody but us players at this moment realize they are the puppet masters. Kudos for whoever said B.Y. was Bab Yaga. It could be right, but who is Nial, or maybe thats an anagram? And what curse? I'm still at a loss on this one. "What's in Raktuber this year?" - Raktuber is clearly a time in the RuneScape Calender. "A white bird, as the etymology of ornithology goes." - A white bird is a description of a dove, which is the symbol of peace. Which supports the next phrase. "That's not where Bandos is, he's in a rage, old chum, old temple, old plots, old power." - Bandos is not in peace, which is perhaps something to do with the goblin quest line. Keep in mind Jagex said the next quest in the goblin questline would be the LAST quest in its series. "Old is as old does - I'm old, sometimes, so I should know, but I do not." - "Old" is refering to something that Bandos is not in peace about. Something that is older than the CE who is writing this letter. This has something to do with the guy at the chaos alter (dead man) who is in the portal at Summers End. It is telling us the clues are in talking to him as he is not correct, or incorrect about certain things. Ill report back after I talk to him a bit. Reappropriated - Reappropriation is the cultural process by which a group reclaimsre-appropriatesterms or artifacts that were previously used in a way disparaging of that group. Polychromatic - The term polychromatic is used to described light that exhibits more than one color. In a technical respect, this can also mean that it contains radiation of more than one wavelength. Reptile - Reptiles, or members of the class Reptilia, are air-breathing, cold-blooded vertebrates that have skin covered in scales as opposed to hair or feathers. This quite literally spells out to: Beings with Scales which are of different colors are going to reclaim artifacts that were previously used in a way disparaging of that group. Dragon Kin Anyone?
  17. [hide=] My best guess is you can't teleport after 20 wildy, and Hazelmere forgot about that. Nah, that was the overpowered teleportation pod that he used to save you during The Path of Glouphrie. When he's talking about already making his choice, he's talking about how he saved you from the unteleportable kill room in the sewer dungeon instead of keeping the seed working. But he said that pod only had 1 charge, which he used to save your/my/anyone who finished the quest's life. EDIT: I got it! Perhaps that scene was a flashback to when he used the pod, and now he knows that he made his decision to save you correctly (since you/me/anyone who did the quest ;) is stopping Lucien). Hazelmere knows that he made the right choice because now it is paying off, and he can die knowing he has played his part in the events. EDIT2: Darn it someone else got it. Didn't see that part. [/hide] [hide=]The pod is actually his communication with the Audi Mundi (sp?). He used it also the the quest in which he gave us the prediction. Path of Glouphine I think it was? Its his way of communicating to nature (spirit trees) on what he should do. His "choice" was choosing to stay behind to save you, like other people have said. So perhaps the Adi Mundi saw something in which he had to die in order to give us a chance for victory instead of retreating. And Also, a small piece I forgot to think of is. Now that the mithril door has been opened, there are no more caves/doors in the Ancient Cavern left unlocked. Perhaps Addy Dragons are elsewhere than the Ancient Cavern? Iron/Steel are in a different location, so perhaps Addy is in a different location than Mitrhil. Its worth taking a look into the Ancient Diary again I think.[/hide] [hide=]And why are we typing in all hide tags? lol[/hide]
  18. The peace part and peace room sound very fitting looking at the evidence. We have Lucien, who is now the most powerful being on Runescape with the stone. And the Rise of the Dragonkin. It is clear that Sara, Zammy, and Armadyl would all have intentions to remove the threat of Lucien before they fight amongst themselves. Bandos dosen't agree with this however. Just pulling a threads, but possibly in this upcoming quest, we will be using the services of Zanik to convince Bandos to form an alliance? The CE says "old power. Old is as old does - I'm old, sometimes, so I should know, but I do not" Meaning the subject the CE is talking about is older than it is. Something that is older than the CE, likley to be the stone it is talking about. Edit: also this part: "Ralvash is gone; Muspah, famous, sleeps with the fishies, if fishies frozen could be. That's where the shadows are shadowed, and even the delvers don't dare. Bizarre: one day it's almost time for a shadow to shift - and a shadow to open its unblinking, empty eye." I believe Ralvash and Muspah are anagrams? And it says sleeps with the fishies, if fishies were frozen. = Sleeps in the Ice. The Ice is where Shadows are shadowed = The Ice is where something evil is hidden. Bizarre: one day it's almost time for a shadow to shift - and a shadow to open its unblinking, empty eye = Strange, its amost time for an evil to arise, and the evil to open It (Possibly the stone of Jas) to open its unblinking eye This may refer to Luciens attempts to use the stone of Jas's power.
  19. Also, some more intresting things [NOTE THIS CONTAINS MAJOR SPOILERS IF YOU HAVE NOT DONE THE CURRENT QUEST] The hidden Dragonkin cutscene after the quest: [hide=Dragonkin Cutscene] The end went so fast, I missed 2 lines of text, but I got most of it. Very curious Indeed.[/hide] The symbol shows up again, so there is DEFIANTLY a connection between the Dragonkin and the Stone of Jas. Just noticed this as well, Look at the floor in the first picture. The circle around the edge is almost the same exact design as the Guthix temple had to open the giant door. Also when our players touched the stone during the boss fights, the last line was "Protection... growing in power.. no... the dragonkin!" [hide=Stone of Jas Cutscene Image] Note this image is not my own, its was borrowed of a Youtube Video: [/hide] EDIT2: Re-reading the image above it appears the stone was actually put in place for protection AGAINST the Dragonkin. Perhaps Guthix realized how powerful they were and he was the one who used the stones power and sealed them away? Now that Lucien is using the stone, they are ready for their return. The dragon weapons may make them more powerful, but perhaps they simply could not re-enter out of their trapped area until the stone was removed? Veryyyy interesting. Also some more clues in this weeks Postbag from the CE: [hide=CE Postbag]Betentacled Ganondorf7769, Ralvash is gone; Muspah, famous, sleeps with the fishies, if fishies frozen could be. That's where the shadows are shadowed, and even the delvers don't dare. Bizarre: one day it's almost time for a shadow to shift - and a shadow to open its unblinking, empty eye. Gentlemen, I recall with great pleasure those days that you, of course, do not. Nial was there, but he was different then, just like you all. Time changes us all, as do curses. I pray you forgive me for this. B.Y. What's in Raktuber this year? A white bird, as the etymology of ornithology goes. That's not where Bandos is, he's in a rage, old chum, old temple, old plots, old power. Old is as old does - I'm old, sometimes, so I should know, but I do not. This great, high, uplifted land, Corrupt and Natural, and all things bound within the soul of the slayer - whose land is it? The red and the green, but not entirely like or unlike the ramblings of a mad, dead man. Within a darkening universe, Reappropriated Polychromatic Reptile[/hide] The Bolded parts are most interesting to me. (Pretty much all of it is bolded lol) It appears to be referring to the storyline with Dragonkin/Gods. And also the GWD as it mentions "Ice" and frozen areas. It also talks about the shifting of power of shadows. Also intresting: "one day it's almost time for a shadow to shift - and a shadow to open its unblinking, empty eye." Focusing on the "empty eye", Zaros is the "Empty Lord", possible connection? However, it specifically says "eye" and not "eyes". Perhaps its something else all together. It also says "its" and not his/her, so its a creature and not a human. That Rules out Zaros. Maybe Dragonkin? EDIT: ALSO another possible connection. The stone of Jas is often referred to as an "eye" (eg. Eye of Saradomin). Perhaps the "eye" is refering to the stone of Jas. Literally meaning: A shadow (Lucien) is about to open the stones unblinking emptiness? Strange. Either way I have a feeling the Dragonkin are simply using Lucien to do their bidding somehow, perhaps indirectly. I get the feeling Lucien will be back stabbed before this is all over. And Speaking of Dragonkin... Notice the last line "The red and the green", the DragonKin always appear to be linked with the colors red/green. Perhaps a connection.

  21. Just dont bother with the locks, Break through the door, and you only take like 12 damage, tele out, eat a trout, and repeat. Use firewave on the dragons around it, to light the Dragon Forge.
  22. Those having trouble with the bowls, I figured it out and edit my post at the top of the previous page.
  23. In the jungle, its the hunting expert, the one you get the 99 hunter cape from. Jungle south of CW in the hunting area, where the red chins are. PS, anyone figure out the bowls yet? Im still stuck :\ EDIT: I saw this on RSOF, going to try it now "It works - add ingredients of the potion to the bowl and you will get a piece of the dolmen. Sucess!" Edit2: Tried it, IT WORKS!
