Summoning looked down upon?
Says who? Oh wait, right, you are God overlord Outsanity? Wow, I better watch out or Im going to get struck by lightning. :ohnoes: Actually, I agree with Outsanity. Your very wrong highlanders with your squewed point of view on combat. Take this for example. Consider summoning, as an extension of the 6 combat skills, strength, attack, defense, range, magic, and HP. Prayer and Summoning are both extensions to these skills improving their accuracy and damage, or assisting them in other ways. That is why they are based very similarly in combat level additions. For example: Bunyips heal you like the rapid restore prayer rate heals you. Lava titans increase your max hit and hit additional damage like the piety prayer. The fact is summoning is alot like prayer, but much more advanced adding alot of additional bonuses. The fact its a NPC has no effect on if its a combat or non-combat skill. So as you can see prayer and summon have many similarities. They are both skill enhancers! Which is why they both count towards your combat level. Unlike attack, or range, you dont not have to train the skill enhancers (prayer or summon) to deal damage in the game. But the enhancer skills help improve it. THAT is why summon adds combat levels. So really Highlander, you agrument has no valid point. Your simply expressing that summoning alone is worthless, which is true, but its not mean to be a major skill on its own. Its meant to help other skills making them more powerful, which is the EXACT same thing as prayer. So many people think combat familiars are so weak on their own, but really, the combat familiars hitting +6 more damage is more damage than some combat prayers add. So dont think of it as a skill on its own, but an addition and you will see why it adds to combat levels.

Barrows Armor - Not like Jagex had\should have planned?
Ok, so now you clarified what you are discussing, the question is now why? Why should barrows be a rare status symbol vs armor like Bandos (which is much harder to obtain)? We can see by things like party hats, santas, even easter eggs, ect.. Items are generally priced on how available they are to be purchased. Even items with little stats are very vaulable because they are rare to obtain. As for armor, like others have said, barrows and 3rd age are so expensive because they are so rare. Also, because they are the best possible armors in the game which dont require a repair cost. Sure repair costs arnt that much, but in the long run they can add up to alot of lost money for a couple bonus points. I personally use my bandos at DK's because trips are ushally 1-2+ hours on average. If I wore barrows, I would be essentially "losing" 2 super restores (7k each) every run. Doing 10 runs thats a loss of 140k. Yes its not alot, but its 140k less than you had before, not to mention bandos has a strength and prayer bonus which is perfect for hybriding without guthans. So my question to you is, why do you think barrows should be an "elite" armor, if the sets are not that hard to obtain. Simply saying "I want them to be more valuable" is not a valid answer. Remembering that stats have only a small effect on the cost of an item, give us a reason WHY you think they should be more valuable.

Higher combat levels
It doesn't increase you're respect, maturity, game intelligence, niceness, honesty, or any other genuine traits that you see from legitimate high levels that have determination and can actually comprehend these people/social skills Uhm, thats like saying "Not training smithing in your overall level makes you increase you're respect, maturity, game intelligence, niceness, honesty, or any other genuine traits "... I have 3 things to say to that. 1) Levels have nothing to do with how a person acts. I've seen people PC their levels to have high combat stats and low overall, and they are some of the nicest people I've ever met. While I've seen people train their stats on monsters and range the "old" way, and being total jerks all the time. Levels have nothing to do with it at all. 2) And not trying to flame you, but you said "increase you're...game intelligence..". Correct me if im wrong, but your saying, by training a skill, we are learning less about the game? Wouldnt you learn more about a game by training another skill because its expanding your skill base. Sounds like your just unhappy that summon messes up your "perfect combat". 3) I personaly, do not BH, so combat matters little to me. I think summoning is a wonderful addition into the game, because it adds a little fun and exciement. Also, when your killing and training, its nice to know you have a little helper around to keep you company and help you out when needed. Sadly people like you cannot see this as you are only focus on a level number and the whole "having awsome stats for a low combat level" concept. You dont have to personaly to train the skill, but calling people who train summoning "un-mature, un-intelligent, not honest, ect.." sounds childish to me. Hate to burst your bubble, but there are alot people who play runescape who dont care about combat levels. Just because someone has 60 summoning, attack, strength, and defence, dosent mean they are any less of a player than someone who has 80 attack and strength. The same is also true for the opposite way around. Dont judge people on their combat level, or what levels they chose to train. Back on topic: Summoning is the main reason for the combat increase, espeically since alot of people gain a few levels just to try it out, or get some of the cool famliars. Espeically the terrorbird, which is a great addition to training alot of other skills.

AGS and SGS: Will Jagex intervene?
Well, abvously, the GE is programed to see what is being bought/not purchased and change accordingly. If all the AGS's were put on lowest, the GE would slowly lower the price, even if there were no buyers. When people put on middle and high, the price is set not to drop. So its really the people who are keeping the prices on middle and high that are keeping the prices from dropping. As for the lootshare, it really has peaked prices since less drops are being produced, however once Jagex finally updates the lootshare-split system, prices will return to normal, and depending on the update, might fall even more than they were pre-jan. Not a good time to buy non-bandos items right now, I'd just keep your cash and wait for a bit. (Bandos items dont typically change because theres enough people in w6 killing him all the time to supply enough drops)

We can already summon karamthulhu

RWT isn't dead.
Im pretty sure that IPs have nothing to do with locations.. O Rly? Then try this link (It is a safe link, check the bottom of your screen as you hover over it to see the link address if you dont feel it is safe.) http://www.ip-adress.com/ It traces your IP to show your exact location, and stastical information about what internet you are using, your connection, and your browser. You can do alot with your IP adress, and you should never share it with anyone unless you trust them.

RWT isn't dead.
Not really, no. This thread is on its fourth page and I *still* don't get what its point is. If you're just trying to say that some RWT is still going on, or that Jagex could have done a better job, I doubt anyone will disagree. But MOST of it is gone, and more importantly, the type that involves gold farmers using stolen credit cards to pay for is gone. And that was Jagex's goal. Exatly. And who's to say they are done? Jagex didnt say, oh so we've made these updates so were gunna stop fighting against RWT now. Im sure they are still working on other transitions and solutions, but as you know it takes a long time to code content into the game. They cant just come up with giant ideas and recode them overnight, it simply dosent work like that. Would you rather have them make small solutions slowly killing out RWT, or wait Three Years from now to add contect that solves everything? After reviewing this thread, I still see the only point your making (TheTrueNoob) is that RWT still exists. duh. Every step they take to remove RWT, If its 1 or 1000 of them, is a step in the right direction. We just had our first battle, but the war is still long from over. All your doing is simply arguing a concept that is already known. Oh, and about the whole loss of customers. What company in their right mind is going to tell you when/if they lost business. If a company says oh not many people are buying now, that makes customers uneasy about purchasing, so they lie and say that sales havent slowed to assure customers. Bascially.. its a lie. If you think that Jagex is sacraficing content you cant live without, and you dont enjoy the game anymore because all you can do is complain about how they could have done better, dont play. How many Runescapers does it take to change a lightbulb? 50,000. One to change the bulb, and 49,999 to complain about how the old bulb was better, and how they could have changed it better themselves.

RWT isn't dead.
Oh, well that answer is simple. They cant. MMORPG's and RWT walk hand in hand. It is impossible to remove one without removing the other. The only way to 100% erridicate RWT is to make everything untradeable, no social interaction, and make no competition. And without those, its not a MMORPG. If you look, all the MMORPG's suffer from this problem, and really theres no way to get around it. Jagex has done the best they can do without sacraficing all the social "fun" parts of the game. The solution? Encourage people to stop buying gold. But as far as 100% "removal", its just not possible.
-
RWT isn't dead.
That about covers it. I never understand what the point is of these sorts of threads. Just because you cannot eliminate 100% of something, that doesn't mean there's no value in getting rid of 99% of it, and that's what Jagex has done. 99% of it hasn't gone. I'd say about 70% of gold sales have gone. Initially, it was higher, but now people are developing methods of trading. Gold shops have reopened, the price of gold remains at $5-6 per mil when it was $4-5 BEFORE these updates. If it were so hard to trade gold, wouldn't the price be higher? You're just generalising with me here. Go to the sites, have a look for yourself. More and more ex gold sellers who quit when these updates came out are coming back because it IS possible. If you know as much about economics as you claim to, then abvously you must know that prices are gauged by supply and demand. Just because the price is low, dosent automatically mean that supply is getting higher. When the trade updates happened, alot of the community that left was the people who actually BOUGHT the gold. With the decrease in sellers, AND the decrease in buyers, that would explain why the price is stable at such a low ammount. Also, I would like to know why your sitting here complaining about the problem, instead of emailing Jagex, explaining the problem, and possible ways to fix it? PS. You should look at the glass half full. So what millions are still selling. Thats not even 1/10'th of the sales that were going on before the trade updates. Account selling/training isnt something Jagex can ever stop, but they have made a huge ammount of progress, enough to push away alot of the business. As I believe someone once said on these forums: To reduce RWT, you dont have to make it impossible to do it, just unprofitable. There will ALWAYS be ways to RWT, but as long as most of it is gone, its not a problem.

Found a New Cave for Summoning!
Thats actually the hunter eagle transport system. Use a rope on the eagles to transport.

Godswords ... whats the deal ??
Teams kinda stopped, but instead people are starting to crowd world 6. Because infact places like world 6 supply more drops than teams simply because its an almost instant kill 27/7. Dosent matter if 1 person gets the drop or a team does. And the quick kills supply more drops per hour than alot of teams combined, as you can kill almost 2 bandos bosses in w6 at almost the speed a low level team can kill 1. It just simply isnt a money maker unless your level 120+ and have great combat stats. Once Jagex updates the Lootshare drops though, teams will start to show up in large numbers once again, and supplys will be restored.

Rares prices.... (27,000+ views)
Pumpkins are a destroyable rare, while santas are not so much. When pumpkins came out alot of Pkers ate them because they healed alot. When santas came out, a person got one and didnt typicaly drop them. Also, when trading, alot of people learned the hard way to trade pumpkins in notes, If you un-note them you can accidently eat them during trading lag in busy worlds. That is why the number so is much less than santas.

Has Construction been left in the Sawdust?
Construction has had some updates. But what about Farming and Herblore? Farming hasnt had an update since Big Arms patch, and the minor patch on Braindead Island. Herblore hasnt had an update since.. Fill x, but that really isnt a content update. To be honest, I hope to see some new Herbs, and Herbs seeds for summoning to expand both these skills.

Taverly update
A few Jmods have leaked info. Basically saying that Summoning will be f2p too Personally I don't think it really matters. Jagex are giving f2p summoning, not new quests, not new members items. If they place summoning in between varrock and mortanya: A Souls Bane (No matter how futile the quest seemed), will still remain p2p. Limestone (once again, how little it matters) will still remain p2p. Anyways. I'm just excited about a new skill :D ~Hawt Other sources with the top dog mods indicate the lesser mods were misinformed or talking about stuff they had no knowledge of. It seems pretty solid this skill is only P2P now. Not that I care either. Only quoting because I came back to edit my post above yours. :P Oh really? Then please explain to us how they're going to handle past members being less powerful than f2p players of their levels? They're not going to punish players for buying members right? example : 2 characters are level 60. One goes p2p and gets his combat up to 80 by using summoning. The other one stays f2p and level his melee stats so that his combat is 80 too, When the first player with summoning stats will come back to F2P he will have the same level, but in reality be 20 combat levels weaker since he cant use these 20 combat levels. This is why they have to make a part of summoning f2p. And besides this would make Runescape's popularity grow up tons! Every old player will come back to play the new free skill, and Runescape will gain alot of new paying members! So in the end Jagex gets money, and players get a brand new skill! Everyone (with a brain) is happy! Edit : Oh and please dont answers things like they will just make your combat level go down when you go f2p, that is impossible. This would lead to so much abuse, whining, exploiting.. and is probably impossible for them to do properly. 1) Abvously you have no idea what your talking about. You saying theres no possible way to Jagex to code a person to go from 138 in p2p, to 126 in f2p. If thats the case, then you lose all validity in your statement. Jagex MADE this game, a simple readjustment of your combat levels is well withing the bounds of this games ability. Its no different than making a quest, or calculating your combat to begin with... All they have to do is make it so your combat is based on summon in p2p, and on f2p worlds your combat is recalculated to the current system, its really not hard to do at all.. 2) It sounds to me like your giving reasons WHY Jagex should make summon f2p. Now im not one to say f2p dosent deserve any updates, so ill stay off that as all It will do is induce flaming, but I will say this. Even if f2p gets summoning you must remember. (No matter how much you want to deny it) Free to play is still a Demo, or Trial if you will, of the "Full" (Members) game. Free to play is no different than any other game trial, its parts of the game on a limited basis. That being said, if summon is f2p (Which I personal doubt) it will be simiar to prayer in which f2p can only use say the first few levels of it. that ALSO being said, I would like to point out something as well.. So far, all of the "Beginner" resouces for summoning are P2P: The Petshop, The Birds Egs, The Tzharr eggs, Taverly, Braindead Island monster Drops Again we go to the concept of the Free to play being a "Trial" game. Now if f2p had summoning, they would have access to all the lower level abilities. But Currenly only P2P has acess to these.. This leads me to believe it will not involve f2p at all. Only time will tell.

By defualt he asks for guam leaf. If you have a herb/herbs in your inventory at the time he will ask for a random herb or lowest level herb you have in your inventory(havent done enough tests to see which).

Isn't this a little counterproductive?
Well. It gives you an underground combat arena early on before you can make dungeons. You can still use the ladder to go down for combat. As for the throne space options, it wouldnt make sence to have a steel cage work like a lesser cage, simply because why have a drop option before you can even make a basic trap door? The drop option is more a perk for the higher level constructor. Plus you can pot the higher level cages for a total of +9, so really you can make them at a fairly low level.

Why are you so afraid of revenants?
They do drop stuff, however rarely. I got 78 coins from the vampire I killed. They definatley drop stuff.. Jagex introduced them to "replace" normal pkers. So they thought they must have drops aswell. My friend went hunting, and from a knight he managed to suceed in getting an Obsidian Cape. They are also known to drop things like glories, dds's, dragonstones. Many people also believe they drop whips and GS Hilts. This is mostly a rumour, but no one knows.. I dunno about hilts and whips, thats most likly a myth. Especially for the Hilts, since those are limited to only the GWD boss monsters. Whips might be a small posability but I dont think so as that would negate any need 85 slayer to get one. Chances are no slayer-related items would be incuded as drops. I imagine however alot of dragon items are, such as dds's, maces, longswords, and maybe even battleaxes. Hard to say for sure now, best thing to do is start logging your drops so tipit can make a database of the drops. As for the poison in f2p, If enough people tell Jagex about this, Im sure they simply overlooked it, Jagex might actually allow antipoisons into f2p, which give a helpful boost to the current lacking herblore economy (Due to the remove of all the Pking pots) or they will simply remove the poison from f2p worlds.

New Specials?
While there is not an agility course, there is also a uncommonly known fact that agility does actually reduce the accuracy of your opponent. If you look at alot of old pure accounts you will notice they have decent agility, not for running, but for combat. In BH, if one person in the team was using Karils to reduce agility it would be like reducing a persons defence per say. And anyone who dosent believe agility effects combat, go to barrows. You will notice a large difference of opponenet accuracy before and after Karil uses his specials on you. So not useless yet :) As for torags, not many people use the hammers and thus the whole set since the hammers have horrid stats for their wielding levels. It was never used in the first place really, but its huge defensive bonuses made up for it, so the special really just keeps it from being overpowered. Not to good for PvP, but good for PvE.

Hmmm, Bandos Boots fubared? Boots discussion
just use it to get kc. Then trade it for something better. IMO: Mace -1 inven space > expensive boots. That depends. Ill tell you, if you are playing the role of the tank for your team, bandos boots are VERY helpful. While being a tank (Letting the general hit you) the prayer bonus, and defensive bonuses do wonders, for letting you not get attacked in the bandos area. And while your at GWD, one inventory slot can make a big difference, espcailly if everyone on your team is -1 slot. Really the boots may not be good for great offensive stuff, but I dont think thats what they were designed for.
