Spybot has no problems with other programs running, and has really fast and thorough scans as well. Definitely get it.

Upgrade the motherboard, processor, and RAM definitely. Get at least an Athlon 64 X2 5000+ or Intel Core 2 Duo equivalent. 1-2gb DDR2 667 would be good for RAM. Maybe the entire computer, as well. Vista > XP :

After something like that, I would just go to an uninfected computer and change my password..and not use the potentially infected computer until it was confirmed whether or not the file was a keylogger. Highly recommended advice by the way... :wink:

How far away are you from a router? I would use a "super-g" adapter, instead of a regular one. With it, I can get about 150 feet, with walls and foliage..but a regular adapter would get a lot less. It's obviously a bad connection, though..

Just touch something metal. If you have static electricity built up, you could fry some of the laptop's internal parts, which would kill it instantly. I would also check the power supply, while you're at it. It might be a cause of this. My power supply in my old computer isn't very good, and it randomly reboots when doing high-processor things.. :x

I'd use 1&1. They have web hosting with everything you'll need (Your own domain, as well) starting at about $4/month. If you can pay for that, it's probably your best bet (I use them, and their service is really nice)..
