  1. That's actually the shield not a splat. All )'s are represented by shields Yeah :| But if you mis-hit, it should really be a splash as the opponent is not blocking. Meh, I guess its OK. Would have been cool to separate blocks from mis-hits. I hear poison looks bad?
  2. I think there is a 0 splat (you don't do any damage) and there is a 0 block (opponent blocks attack)? I don't know, haven't seen in-game, but first page screenshot shows a 0 splat.
  3. Oh nice. That looks like a block? Are they separating blocks and splashes?
  4. Trying to find a bigger pic without logging in. Light blue 0's? :o The curve look to the HP bar looks nice.
  5. Nice, I'd like to see how the new in-game message thing works :)

Although it is good to have Anti-virus software, the facts suggest that there is much less chance of getting a virus that will affect your Mac than on a Windows PC. I'm not saying there isn't viruses and malware out there, but generally many Mac users don't both with Anti-virus. If you don't feel secure without one, download it, simple as that.

Lol, Anti-virus software should be the last thing that comes to mind when someone asks about Mac OSX software. Since I don't know exactly what type of things you want the software to do, I'll recommend some sites... http://appstorm.net/ http://smokingapples.com/ http://macalicious.com/ http://macrumors.com/ Also check out the forums... http://theappleblog.com/ Probably the best and friendliest for finding new software and so on. You said you want to enhance performance etc. so I guess Candybar to change icons. The iWork/iLife packages from Apple, you should already hav iLife 09... Office 2008 if you want Word, Excel etc. People say that Mac's have less software available, but I think the quality of the software available is much higher.
  8. Hey, I know that Tip.It has been particularly fierce on the topic of changing usernames on the forums, and I have no idea why. However, with the name change ability coming to RuneScape and FunOrb in the near future, I was wondering if Tip.It will allow forum name changes? I am sure that many people will be changing their in-game names when the feature becomes available, and I'm sure they will want to do the same on the forums as well. I know that it could possibly cause confusion, but this could be overcome using a Custom Profile Field to display the old username. By looking at the Member list, I can see there are a lot of inactive accounts. I know it may not be the best option, but an inactivity sweep of accounts which haven't logged in for 1-2 years would open up many more usernames for people to choose. Furthermore, if you feel that the ability to change usernames is going to be abused, then you could only allow name changes for a certain period of time. I don't see a major reason why not to allow name changes, at least for a certain period of time. I have also seen some phpBB mods allowing the use of Display Names, but I doubt that Tip.It would incorporate this now. Anywho, if name changes aren't going to become available, I think I'm going to create a new account to change my name for my own personal reasons.
  9. Oh, didn't see the DOS part... Well, nearly all computers have flash (and java to some extent) too. Flash games are much more common, and I'm sure it'd be easier finding the right resources + tutorials to help you along the way.
  10. http://www.runescape.com/l=0/kbase/view ... unenergy02 [hide=Dev Diary]21st May 2009 - Test'n Musicians Outerlanders welcome at the Fremennik Province rest spot On another cold morning in the Jagex office, deep in the Wilderness, we were offered the prospect of working on a slightly different project from normal. Run energy is seen as a stumbling block by new players. No one likes to see their run energy drained and be forced to run-walk to their destination, so we were determined to make sure the new improvements would benefit the average player. Before beginning our full test cycle, we had to ensure we understood the content as much as possible by reading through the design documentation and also having face-to-face meetings with the developer, Mod Chihiro. This was the ideal opportunity to outline any aspects of the project that needed to be given more careful consideration. The main issue that arose was that some balancing had been done, but that the numbers were not final. This meant that the time it took for run energy to recharge while resting, either anywhere or at a specified rest spot, was not finalised and liable to change. Outerlanders welcome at the Fremennik Province rest spot We tackled this issue with a variety of in-game scenarios, such as running through the major cities from point A to point B. Additionally, we set up a testing map square, which was designed to more accurately reflect the advantages gained by someone using the new rest system over someone who wasn't. Our lead balancer had toyed with the timings and had an idea of how she wanted things to work. What she wasn't sure of, initially, was how this would 'feel' in-game. After recording countless hours of tests, we fed our results back to the lead balancer. The figures were altered and we began testing the timings again. While we waited on the new run energy balancing figures, we continued with the general functionality tests. This included: Karam-jammin' * Re-testing the current in-game run energy boosts, such as potions and familiars, to ensure that the changes had no adverse affects on existing content. * Ensuring that the music played by each of the musicians was reflective of the instrument they use. We especially liked 'bad' music Mod Bond composed. * Graphical testing in both Standard and High Detail modes. Unfortunately, the lying down animation shown in the previous Development Diary had to be removed, as it was causing excessive graphical bugs with clothing items. This has been replaced with a slight variation of the sitting down animation. * Making sure the changes to the run energy button on the main interface didn't cause any adverse affects. * Checking each of the musicians chat and possible issues that could arise with their positioning. Mod James H even introduced a couple more musicians to areas he felt would benefit from the new system. Karam-jammin' [/center] Once the numbers have been completely balanced and finalised, we will need to ensure the recharge rate is working as expected for both normal rest and in musician rest spots. Due to the nature of QA, we are now knee-deep in other upcoming projects while we await the final figures. Meanwhile, it is being edited, translated and the Knowledge Base entry is being written. We hope you will find the new system as useful as it is intended to be. Bangin'. Mod Frantic RuneScape QA Tester[/hide] http://news.runescape.com/newsitem.ws?id=1891 [hide=Guaranteed Content Poll]The deserted pub in East Ardougne needed your suggestions to bring it to life. Several weeks ago, many of you submitted your ideas for a name for the pub, the NPCs who will populate it, and the food and drink the pub will serve. The best ideas were whittled down and organised into five themes. Then, two weeks ago, we launched the Guaranteed Content: Name a Pub poll. More than 70,000 of you voted for the ideas you wanted us to add to the game, and we were very pleased with the response from the RuneScape community. The poll is now closed, and we can announce that the winning option is The Poison Arrow. Further details can be found below: * Suggested name: The Poison Arrow * Suggested NPCs: o Marion the barmaid used to lead a group of merry bandits, but now she is content to stand behind the bar and polish her numerous archery trophies, in between serving drinks to thirsty travellers. o Geoff sits by the dartboard fletching arrows, which he tests by flinging them at the board. He once tried to join the Ranging Guild, but failed his entry test after accidentally shooting a squirrel out of a tree, injuring it. o Sparky the squirrels injured leg hasnt been the same since, but Geoff promised to look after him, and gave him one of his arrows to use as a crutch. * Suggested beverage: rangers ade golden in colour and flavoured with local honey for a sweeter taste, it really hits the target. * Suggested snack: skewered kebab grilled meat and vegetables skewered on an arrow. Expect to see The Poison Arrow winging its way into the game during the next few months! We really enjoyed getting you involved with the game, so we will be running another Guaranteed-Content Poll two weeks from now. The aim of the poll will be to name a new Slayer creature, so the first thing we need to do is get your ideas. Head to the Suggestions Monster and NPC forum to find out more. The Name a Slayer Creature thread (Quick find code 79-80-957-58851629) contains more information about the creature, and even some concept art to inspire you. We hope to see lots of imaginative ideas soon! Mod Kat Web Content[/hide]
  11. I'd say flash would be easiest to get into, if you're willing.
  12. However, we might not want tons of publicity. Remember when RS was advertised on miniclip? The community went waaaay down and the same could possibly happen to tip.it. I doubt that anyone who finds RuneTips on Twitter, or searches for RuneScape won't already know the major fansites that exist.
  13. Tip.It has outdated guides and too much workload on the current staff to update everything? People are less likely to help improve guides if they do not get any satisfaction out of it. If Tip.It is feeling the stress, then the size of the staff needs to increase; I'm sure there are many people that are willing enough to spend time and effort into helping. As for the Twitter account... It has been stated numerous times that it will not be any extra effort. There is no reason not to have an account. If it is there, it will eventually be used.

  15. A few more things Jagex revealed today via Twitter (I do not know if these deserve a thread): @OffcialJagex said: we have a project this launching summer that to allow all players more freedom with their names, including them being changeable. http://twitter.com/OfficialJagex/status/1845655162
  16. Some of the largest websites and blogs in the world use twitter post their latest news and blogposts to their followers instantly.
  17. All the Twitter account will be doing is reflecting the homepage (for those of you who don't understand what twitter is). Yes, this is the same as RSS feeds, but if the 37 people who are currently follow @RuneTips don't have RSS readers, then why not give them the same info and updates on twitter? I'm not sure if any of the staff understand twitter, but if you want me to have the account back and take care of it, I'd be happy to.
  18. Twitter is a micro-blogging service. That's the kind of input we were thinking of too, however, we first want to know if some people actually will use it. I don't think this poll will reflect that though as a lot of people don't know what Twitter is, or vote yes, but won't ever use it. It would not matter whether anyone 'uses' (follows the account) @RuneTips; if Tip.It has the required RSS feeds for Times, News, and Events up to a modern and working standard, then the twitter account requires no input from human beings, thus not mattering whether anyone would 'use' it or not. (On the other hand, accounts which lack human input and have content based solely upon RSS feeds is not seen as very appealing on Twitter. If there was a experienced Twitterer ( ahem : ) who could post news and on-goings in the RuneScape world, this would enhance the Tip.It Twitter account.) Furthermore, as a suggestion to improve RSS feeds to then improve Twitter, Tip.It could implement RSS feeds into the forum. Any Hot Topics could be tagged, or such, and will then appear in the Hot Topic RSS feed, and then into Twitter. 0 maintenance.
  19. Yes, I made the account at http://twitter.com/RuneTips and setup the background, picture, and colours. I also setup the twitterfeeds for latest RuneScape news, latest Tip.It news, and latest Tip.It Times news. However, since Jagex don't have a RuneScape RSS feed, the current RSS feed is subject to availability! Tip.It do not have good RSS feeds either, so I'm not sure how well they will work with twitterfeed.com. The account requires 0 maintenance, though if Tip.It events are wanted on there too, maybe TET can have someone posting these updates, or Tip.It can have someone create an RSS feed for Tip.It events on the homepage. There's no point NOT having a twitter account, and as 3 Hit U pointed out, it would be good to have the latest twitter update(s) on the homepage too. EDIT: Someone has messed with the account settings, and most updates may not be coming through.
