  1. The good thing about Wii is it isn't uber expensive compared to the other two. It's been speculated that the system will come in around $250USD, which when compared to the other systems, is not a bank account murdering price. As ShadowFaxPZ said, Brawl will not be utilizing the Wiimote because the developers found it too hard to work with the game and to be honest, i dont think the game would be half as good if they designed it for the Wiimote.
  2. Will you buy the Wii? Yes, launch day the moment the store opens. Will you get Super Smash brothers Brawl? Absolutely, first thing on it's launch day. Will you plan on getting any other ones? If so, please post. LoZ:TP, MP3:C, Red Steel, ExciteTruck, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers. What do you think of the Nintendo Wii/Super Mario Brawl? Bloody awesome. Screw next gen graphics, bring on the next gen gameplay!
  3. As Sinkhan said, it varies from company to company. Some will throttle your speeds once you reach the limit and you can continue browsing at dial up speeds while others will charge you per MB you use over the limit but you get to keep the high speed. Being at uni, i would suggest trying to find an ISP that throttles your speed so you don't get stung with a huge bill if you manage to break the limits they set or find a nice unlimited plan that wont hurt your bank account.
  4. Xeon processors are specifically designed for server environments while the FX-62 is not. If you wanted to get an AMD chip of some sort, the Opteron range is what you should be looking for if you wanted an AMD server. Normally i would recommend against Dell, but i can see some good reasons as to why it isn't that bad to go with them for this. A) The computer will already be built and wont require fiddling around with parts and if you accidentally killed something while assembling the FX-62 rig, then your stuffed and have no one to blame but your self. B) You will get a warranty on the whole thing, so if something [bleep]s up, Dell should replace it. C) The specs on the Dell system are still better for a server environment than what you picked out. The Xeon chip is running on the 65nm process which means it requires less power and thus less heat output. It also has double the L2 cache than what the FX-62 chip does and its designed for a server environment. So yes, in this case i would recommend to get the Dell system purely because it is designed for what your father wants it to do, it will perform better in a server environment than the FX-62 rig and it will be ready to run straight out of the box and if something goes wrong, you can blame Dell.
  5. I think you will find it wont allow you to select it because the file is breaking the avatar size limits as stated in the rules. Get the file size down below 6KB and it should work fine.
  6. That answer still makes the most sense to me. But the float theory is a close second.
  7. Norton is a pain in the arse and has caused me more trouble than it has good and from what I've gathered, alot of other people haven't had exactly good experiences with it either. Further more, its a resource hog and difficult to uninstall. So if i were you, i would stay away from Norton and just stick with AVG or some other less irritating anti-virus program.
  8. 1. It all depends on what your intending to use it for. If its just basic word processing, music and such, the 1.66GHz processor should do fine. You probably wouldnt notice much of a difference between the two anyway, so you might as well just take the cheaper route. 2. I dont get 2, what are you asking me to do? 3. No, PCI cards designed for use in towers will NOT work with laptops because laptops dont have expandable PCI slots in it. And yes, the laptop does have an ethernet port on it, so you dont have to worry about that :)
  9. Hahaha. Oh wait, funny as in strange? I get you. Dodgy case or psu fan perhaps? Apart from that the only other thing it could be is the hard drive as you said.
  10. MASSIVE DAMAGE!! Sony are going to start having to shoot other people in the feet, because im pretty sure they dont have any of there own left to blow off.
  11. Newton - Streamline Never heard of it, but if you click on the transparent watermark in the top left hand corner, it expands and you get the details of the page.
  12. Why yes, it is an old post. So why the hell did you post that stupid comment to ressurect a 2 year old thread?!
  13. Its not the greatest card out there but it should be able to run what you need it to run. There is no need to swap it out for an nVidia card just because "nVidia are teh r0x0rz n they are teh better than ATi!!!11!" Just leave it for now and when you find there are games it cant handle that you want to play, then its time for an upgrade.
  14. I believe static ips are assigned by your provider and if you want one, you would have to get into contact with them and ask about it because i dont think some 3rd party site would be able to give you a proper static ip like the provider could.
  15. Raw speed doesnt mean as much now days as it used to. AMD has shown that you dont need stupidly high clock speeds for great performance. Good instruction sets and the design of it do alot more for a processor these days than what raw speed used to. I think thats right. Anyone want to correct me if i got it wrong? I dont think ill be buying any of this stuff because A. It will be waaaay out of my price range and B. Ive just bought myself an Athlon 64 3500+ on the 939 socket due to the price drop because of the new intel chips being released along with AMD's AM2 socket.
  16. 20GB Creative Zen, $400AUD. Ive had it for nearly two years and the only problems I've had is headphones breaking out of my own carelessness and wiping the firmware whilst fiddling around with it. The firmware had yet to be released, but Creative customer support had emailed it to me with instructions within 15 minutes of me ringing them =D> Scratches are from general day to day use and when i dropped it on the bus and it slid around on the floor before i could pick it up #-o Apart from that, its still in great condition and works great. I shall be buying another Creative Zen with a bigger hard drive in the future after i have finished building my computer because they are just a good product. Function over fashion and i feel the Zens do it better than iPods. The $50 difference in price doesn't justify me buying an iPod either.
  17. If you just bought a new CPU fan, it might be worthwhile going back and making sure that its seated right and is in proper contact with the CPU.
  18. Ye olde school :P Am i the only one whos posted with ears and scythe so far?
  19. You wouldnt be able to use DDR2 with an AMD system because it wasnt supported on the older sockets. Other than that, the list looks alright.
  20. Yea, not quite the best question to ask when you look at his choice of words. This Dell computer might be worth looking at. Its not the greatest thing out there, but considering your apparant lack of experience with computers and your rather small budget, it might be the best you can get.
  21. Firstly, ive got a couple of questions. How good is your knowlege of computers and would you feel comfortable building one from scratch? If so, are there any parts you would be able to re-use from your current computer?
  22. Since when has there been gem rocks in Tzaar? To my knowlege they only exist in Shilo Village.
  23. To quote Gabe from one of their news posts. I know if i were a little kid, i would have turned the magazine around to see what it all said. As for the ads themselves, i think they are just trying to educate the young'uns from a younger age about what the age ratings are for and to explain to them that they arent just there for the hell of it and doing it by using bright cartoony looking characters is a good way to attract their attention to the page and get them to read what its all about.
