  1. If hiding the two kids is any indication of what their relationship could end up being like, i would most certainly brake it off.
  2. It may be possible that the problem is with them and not you. I know with our local cable provider when they slow our speeds, i get a "network cable unplugged" message, so im having a wild guess here that it may be something wrong with their severs. Its probably wise to get in contact with them and ask about it because hopefully they would know more about their own services than a bunch of forum users would, not saying that other users cant help you, its just that they should know whats wrong and if they dont, they should go and fix it for you.
  3. Im australian, but im stupid enough to stay up till 3 in the morning to come to something like this. Hopefully i will remember.
  4. The X1300 isnt that great at all. Several other cards beat it out in the benchmarks on Tom's Hardware Guide. Hell, even a normal 128MB 6600 beats it in most of the tests. Something like this 6800GS would be a much better alternative to the X1300 you listed.
  5. Double post. I apologise.
  6. Well there you go, i learnt something. It was an unknown brand to me, so i wasnt so sure, but Militaris usually knows what he is talking about so you might as well go for it.
  7. Ehhh... Galaxy don't sound like a very reputable brand to me, never even heard of them to be honest. Ive heard of Foxconn though and they seem to make OK products, but they just seem a little off to me. About the some of the parts i picked, they might be a bit more expensive than some of the ones you listed but they are brands people have probably heard of. They are known brands which is why the price is a bit higher. Usually the rule is you get what you pay for, and if you pay that little bit extra, you'll get a better product. Also, the processor i listed might not be as good at first glance, but in many of the video game bench marks which were done by Tom's Hardware Guide, they showed that the 4000+ did better than the 4200+ X2, thus why i listed it. The 4000+ did better in video game benchmarks than the X2 4200+ and you said at the start of the thread you wanted to play games with out lag, so it seemed logical to me to choose a processor that didn't lag in games. Whatever though, its all up to you in the end, I'm just giving you some tips. I would really look into that Foxconn mobo and that Galaxy card, as they don't sound like very reputable brands to me.
  8. That wouldnt happen to be one of those Vodaphone Maxicap things would it? Ive seen that damn add so many times its been permanantly etched into my brain, so thats why i remember it :? What every one else has said is pretty much right though, you pay $0 for the phone but you end up with a certain fee per month. Where i am it tends to work out that the better the phone, the more expensive the plan, so you might end up paying for the phone through fees anyway. I myself have a $30 a month plan with $25 on calls and messages and $5 a month for internet on my phone or some crap, but i havent bothered with that. Also get 200 free messages from 8pm till something like 6 in the morning, cant remember exactly what it was.
  9. AMD Athlon 64 4000+ - $508.20 - http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=93_27_29&products_id=11476 Asus A8N-E motherboard - $157.30 - http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=93_36_63&products_id=16007 Western Digital 250Gb SATA Hard Disk - $163.90 - http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=93_107_22&products_id=5884 Kingston 1Gb PC3200 DDR Ram - $136.40 - http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=93_23&products_id=16856 XFX GeForce 7800GT 256Mb (PCIE) - $520.00 - http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=93_26&products_id=17797 Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS - $165.00 - http://www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=93_42&products_id=4038 Total - $1650.80 So youve got about $350 left over to get a case, power supply and other things you might want. Also, im pretty sure that they ship to any where in Australia so that buisiness should be able to get it to you. One thing i need to ask, will you need a copy of XP or do you already have one you can use. Because if you dont, you might need to reconsider some choices to fit XP into your budget. Getting a slightly slower CPU and video card is something to consider if you need to get a copy of XP.
  10. Now youve got to remember this is the australian currency that we are working with, hence the higher prices. A 7800GT can cost anywhere from $600AUD or more, which is nearly half of his highest budget (< $2000) so it might not nessecarily be a good choice money wise. Also, which state do you live in and would you be prepared to build your own computer from scratch or do you have a freind or family member that could assemble it for you? Are you able to re-use your current monitor, keyboard, mouse and speakers or do you want all those to be new?
  11. School is for learning, not playing games. Honestly, im getting a bit tired about these threads asking or telling how to bypass school filters. They are there for a reason. Most threads i see that ask how to pass filters at school/work/otherwise usually end up being locked, and this is probably going to be one of them. I propose that there should be a rule made that is against asking or telling how to bypass filters at school, work or otherwise so there are no more of these threads. Anyone agree with me on this?

Deanne The Arsonist and Demonology And Heartache are a couple of my favourite songs. The new album is pretty good too... You can all probably guess where i got it though. Edit: Its actually not the whole album, just a promo cd, but its still pretty good.
  13. Although the little extra money could save you a lot more in the future because won't need to upgrade as soon. The parts you chose are already sort of out of date. You can't play a demanding game like Doom III at full settings with that unless you do a very good ammount of overclocking. The parts i listed came in at just under $300 while the list you suggested came in at over $600. Now thats $300 dollars difference and he might not have that sort of money. Sure what i listed isnt future proof, but it should get him by untill he needs to do another big upgrade. You also forgot to take into account that a new power supply would be required so that puts your price up another couple of $100 depending on the brand and specs of the power supply.
  14. Might make him happy, but it might make make his bank accound very sad. Also, im assuming that if he is worried over loosing $50 on a game he cant play, it gives me the idea they cant afford something extrvagant as that. AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 1GHz HT Socket 939 Processor - $166.00 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103535 Gigabyte GA-K8NSC-939 ATX AMD Motherboard - $62.00 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813128286 eVGA Geforce 6600GT 128-A8-N350 Video Card - $139.00 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130220 Those 3 parts might be a better choice, especially if your on a tight budget . It would also be helpful if you could find out what your current specs are, such as your current processor, ram and video card so we can suggest what needs to be upgraded with out having to go all out and buy a new cpu, motherboard and video card.
  15. Honestly, it doesnt surprise me. Since cook x was released i think its made cooking one of the easiest stats to get experience in.
  16. Tell him he is wrong then jab him in the eye with a soldering iron. Honestly, when i read that it killed a few million brain cells from the stupidity of it.
  17. Ill third it. I use those three programs along with MS Anti Spyware and have never had any viruses or junk.
  18. He has an intel who the heck cares intels suck lol I knight thee Intel fanboy. Cmon, dont be such a fool, intel and amd outperform each other in certain areas. Hell, ive considered getting a dual core pentium just because they are cheaper in australia than an AMD X2 chip. Dont go saying things like that unless you can provide anything more than an uninformed fanboy comment like that.
  19. Tile would be good. Just some where that wont generate static so there isnt any risk of frying anything.
  20. Limparse... Big bloody deal. Im sure people would find my rs name much more offensive than that...
  21. Hope you have fun assembling it all :) Oh, dont forget to touch some metal before you go playing with your parts, wouldnt want to kill any of it now, would we
  22. Hes the one who wanted to be told how to bypass his school filters. Needless to say, that thread was locked and this one will probably end up the same way.
  23. No, go do your work. Seriously, your at school to learn, not play games. Play your games out of school, not during it.
  24. So they are. Didnt realise they said they were WD drives. WD are pretty reliable anyway. So what was your budget on this anyway?
  25. Shame i didnt know about this before i went and got a dongle :x Oh well, would be handy for people who cant use a data cable or bluetooth dongle. Nice find i guess.
