  3. I'm a Catholic. So of course I believe in God, and all the stuff about him creating the world and made us in His image. There was an old question that some people would ask, particularly nonbelievers asking believers. Could God create a rock he could not move? My pastor was talking about this in one of his homilies, and he quotes a 3 year old girl who got in trouble for responding to the question. She said that God can create a rock he could not move, and he did; He created the human spirit. By creating us with free will (I know some of you don't believe in free will, this is jsust my belief) he made himself weak, for he couldn't control our will, he could only advise us to go to the right direction. I don't plan on preaching to you guys because not all of you share my belief, so I'll end with this little quote, the most famous in the Bible (John 3:16 I believe): "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that anyone who believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
  4. ^Heh, thats the first time I've someone who used the Introduction thread as their first post. Most people just jump right into the action :
  5. Meh, this thread turned from an anime discussion to a Japanese 101 thread :wall: Domo Arigato, Mr. Roboto.
  6. [hide=quotes] They can't search your house for no reason, they can't arrest you for no reason, and they can't torture you. Actually, they can. Bills stating such rights have been abolished due to terrorism. They need it to be easier to take down a 'terrorist' instead of waiting to get a warrant and that man does something in that time. [/hide] Hmmpf. Its one of the amendments. I'm pretty sure they still can't torture, search without a warrant, or arrest for no reason. After all, how is it that they could do all that and yet still not be able to add restrictions to hand guns and use other methods of controlling guns, just because its the second amendment and the NRA would get pissed.
  7. ^Oops, my bad. I actually thought the ceremony cost 300 grand. When I typed it, it sounded rather inexpensive for a great ceremony. 300mil?!?!?!?! Ok now THAT is money we need to put to better use than fireworks, lip-singing children, and dancers/drummers.
  8. London got the 2012 Olympics? Damn, I was rootin' for Chicago. Oh well. At least its not our 300 grand. I like the idea of giving the money to Africa, but I'm hoping that whoever gets the money will put it to good use.

Yeah, I love how researchers and professors in this field may search for years for these creatures but to no conclusive results, while some guy goes camping or walking along the beach for a day and comes back with a revolutionary discovery. Every time someone discovers something it's either a grainy, unconclusive picture/video or a blatantly obvious fake. I can't imagine how frustrated the researchers are. I'm sure some problem will occur during the DNA test, such as a theif stealing the Bigfoot like they did for the Montauk Monster, or some other crazy postponement that leaves monster enthuisiasts on the most frustrating cliffhanger for ages.
  10. Alrighty, I'm not good with computers so I have a few very dumb questions. Does it run well on Windows Vista? And if I download it and don't like it, how can I uninstall it? This game looks very cool for a free FPS so I might try it out.
  11. Do we really need 5 threads on the Georgia-Russia conflict...? As for the pic, I love how she misspelled both her home state of Georgia and the word Russia. I wonder how many people in the Georgia state actually panicked when they heard on CNN "Russian's invade Georgia". And why the hell did 14 people vote down the guy's comment? Sounded ok to me, unless Yahoo answers doesn't appreciate witty remarks, and this wasn't even witty at all...
  12. I'm not a fan of anime, but I used to watch Dragonball Z (back when Cartoon Network was good and Toonami was still alive) and I loved the show. I tried watching shows like One Piece and I just don't understand it. It seems rather random and the faces of the people look really obscure, kind of like some characters in Naruto except Naruto is a lot better IMHO. Offtopic: I find it slightly amusing that this thread is right next to the anti-anime thread ;)
  13. Savin' Me by Nickelback. I'm the kind of cheapo kid who uses his phone to record songs off youtube then set it as a ringtone rather then buying it. Hey, those purchased ringtones usually are cut off lines of the song and aren't worth it anyway.
  14. This was on a thread discussing new treasure trail items (from a long while back) When I first joined tipit I was rather recessive. Always afraid of someone flaming me because I talked too much, I used a lot of umm's and compliments in my posts to flatter people I was afraid of and show I wasn't too aggressive. I regret that now.
  15. I agree fully. When I was in third grade I got a detention for calling a kid dumb. Recently I was in a park and I heard a few kids around 4th or 5th grade calling eachother unspeakable things. Yes, normally by 5th grade you's usually learn what all these words are and maybe even what they mean, but you should have enough discipline instilled in you to know not to use them, especially at an adult. I'm hoping those kids I heard don't talk to their parents that way.
  16. I was praying that the US wouldn't get involved, but I guess it's far too late for that now. All we can do is hope we don't make mortal enemies.
  17. ^I agree, Warri0r is a great debator. Even when he's arguing against me I look at his argument, try desperatly to find something to crack his logic, and in the end sit at your computer in awe at how sound his argument is.
  18. I'm against cosmetic surgery except, as someone above said, in the event of an accident where a person is mutilated. I don't see why people think they need to stuff plastic in their face or breasts to look prettier. As for transgenders, I also think there's no need for that. Be happy with the way you were made. Who are you to determine if you're made wrong?
  19. I haven't read through the other pages of this thread, but I'm sure riku's going berserk here  I never liked anime, but you have to remember before you bash it that there are different types of anime. Hentei is the one that people say turns them on. There are other obscure ones that satisfy the most random and disgusting interests of some disturbed people (thank you riku for luring me and some others into them on the ever caught them thread #-o), but not all anime is about erotic fun. The violence and complex plot makes it more for mature audiences, not children. And if I'm not mistaken, in your anti-Wii thread you showed your dislike for kiddy games. Anime is not for children, although thanks to Cartoon Network it may become children's television. And how did this thread turn into a Japanese language thread, and some random thing about nightbreaks and gall bladders?
  20. I agree with you on the bag lunch thing. Its what you bring from home, the school has no business unless you're bringing crack in your lunchbag. However, I do think the measures to make schools healthier are somewhat reasonable. Our country undergoes constant criticism for unhealthy Americans. Plus, anyone who needs sugar to stay awake in class obviously needs to change their lifestyle a little bit. I hate how people say they're dependant on caffeine or sugar to go through the day. If you work to a point where you cannot get your necessary hours of sleep then I can understand, but as a student there's no excuse to depend on sugar. Get more sleep. As for being underweight, having a healthy lunch at school doesn't halt your weight gaining altogether. You might want to consider gaining that weight in muscle instead of fat., and have larger breakfasts and dinners. I don't see how having a healthy lunch is suffering. And if I'm not mistaken, there is no privacy amendment.
  21. Damn it all. We settle things with North Korea and now we're close to making more dangerous enemies with Russia. Why can't we just help the French's diplomatic efforts instead of putting our [wagon] on the line to help the weaker side? Don't flame me by the way, I'm still learning about this whole conflict. Thank goodness for Wikipedia.

Bigfoot, Montauk Monster, and This thing. Just another list of obscure animals found across the globe.
  23. Tom Cruise. For being a Scientologist. Oh, and don't forget Nancy Grace. Her view is "you will agree with me or I will interrupt you and throw you off my show."
  24. Everything that's supposed to be reserved for the government or military or police force ends up in the hands of some clever criminals one way or another. Its bad enough we have armed murderers around. Having armed murderers that we can't see can be disastrous. Pedophiles can abandon the Internet and walk into a kid's room or locker room undetected. I really doubt this project will go so far as cloaking people, though. If it does it'll just add another advantage criminals can have over the common person. And while the chances of this invisibility thing being perfected in the next few decades might be slim, I hope they're planning some sort of way to prevent it from going public. Although the history of the world's expert criminals say nothing is out of reach from determined masterminds.
  25. I won a game of Bingo
