  1. Endeavor is the pwn. I also enjoy counter and explosion. pretty much any attack that changes the tide of the game entirely or really great "last resort" or "suicide" moves. I love using those moves to tick off an opponent who's crushing me, especially when I know I'm going to lose and want to take out a couple pokemon to go down with me.
  2. Prestige modes in CoD4. some may say its a great status symbol, but the last thing I'm going to do in a heated battle where I have bullets coming at me from all angles is look at someone's status symbol and sit there in awe of them. especially because prestige gives no benefits besides the occasional worshipper.
  3. I'm 14 and I've grown up with Nintendo. I don't find their games childish. sure, there are a few games here and there that I think are too simple or pointless *cough*animal crossing*cough* but there are people who like those games. Videogames aren't all about smashing people's heads off and firing hundreds of missiles at some lord of the dead monster. Those can be fun if you're looking for nonstop excitement or a good pastime with friends. I personally love FPS's and adventure games. But sometimes you need to relax a bit and have a little fun. Mario Kart is a very fun game for me, and not just because of the Wii wheel use. Its random, its chaotic, its challenging, and its fun. Who knew turtle shells and banana peels could be such murderous items? I think SSBB is a great game for a wide audience as well. Simple younger or older players may enjoy sending Princess Peach flying into oblivion, and hardcore gamers might like trying their luck in Boss Battles, where you have to survive 8 bosses with no rest in between besides 3 items to heal. believe me, it gets tough. I have yet to beat the two hardest difficulties. With friends, the fun never stops. I've played 2 hours of SSBB straight with my friends at a party, and someone on Tif whom I've forgotten played 6 hours with his friend. whether you're hardcore or just want a relaxing pastime, the Wii has something for everyone.

^Hell yeah, that was amazing. I had thought all hope was lost when the 3rd french guy was a full body length in front of the 3rd US guy. Then with an amazing comeback in the last second, the US crushed the French's comments that they had come to the Olympics to crush the Americans. I loved Michael Phelps' cheer when the US won. And the look on the French team's face was priceless.
  5. Is this the new pet peeves thread? Because I have a lot of 'em. [hide=my annoyances]People who decide the middle of a busy hallway is the perfect spot to have a 5 minute discussion with their friends. People who crowd the beginning of the baggage return conveyor belt thing because they just HAVE to get their luggage 30 seconds before everyone else. People who, when a tragedy occurs in the US, respond with "only in America". Parents who refuse to shut their screaming child up when in church because they want to pay attentin to the priest. Seriously, you're not going to burn in hell if you go to the back of the church for a few minutes to calm your kid down. Women who make it everyone's business when emphasizing they are pms'ing. People who think anyone who supports one videogame console is a "fanboy". I agree with Zierro and the others on this, I hate walking behind slow people. and I hate even more when the people behind me blame the slowness on me. People who whisper "whimp", "coward", etc when you leave the line for a ride at six flags, even if there's a reason you're doing so other than you're scared. I've had to leave several lines before to meet with my friends and parents and I hate when everyone around me thinks I'm terrified of the ride and starts whispering taunts behind my back. Say it to my face. I dare you. People who only win fist fights or arguments when they have friends helping, and after they beat you they emphasize on how much you got owned. People who think all Christians are Catholic and all Catholics are fundamentalists. People who think all Muslims are extremists. People who make fun of the Muslim girls who wear that veil around their head or face because "it looks ugly". At least they have the guts to show their faith wherever they go, having to face idiots who make fun of them for it. People who think all puns are bad, and people who abuse cliches.[/hide]
  6. The Call of Duty games made by Treyarch are fail. Infinity Ward did way better with their CoD's. Unfortunatly CoD5 is a Treyarch game if I'm not mistaken, and I'm hoping it won't be a flop.
  7. The "ever caught them?" thread became pretty useful to some mods where any adult discussions could be moved there, while to other mods it was 4chan waiting to happen. The different standards of our little forum here means that discussions just barely on the borderline between appropriate and innapropriate are usually tugged around differently by different mods and eventually locked. I think a sticky similar to the "ever caught them" thread should be brought back, with detailed descriptions on what's good and what isn't, and strict punishments for anyone who blatantly crossed the line, and direct warnings when someone is pushing it. Tipiters seem to have different definitions of mature, and we need to set one standard for everyone.
  8. At the Olympic opening ceremony President Bush had a pretty good chat with Vladimir Putin, and it seemed like a friendly conversation. What he was talking about, we have no idea, but it might have been the issue in Georgia. Either they're still friendly about the issue and we're not geared for Cold War 2 or both of them have really good poker faces when in a heated debate. Whatever the case may be, I really don't like the idea of the US jumping into the fray, regardless of what NATO requires. Russia's the kind of lot you do not want to become enemies with. We managed to stabilize relations for the most part after the Cold War, going back to murky territory will be harder to replace this time around.
  9. I have a habit of yelling and swearing when playing at videogames provided that no one is around. Its a bad habit because if my mom ever walks by and sees me calling Mario things that would make a mainstream rapper turn his head in shame, she'd go medieval on me.

Being the low stamina kid that I am, it's rather cool to see how much people can endure in these events. I used to swim and considered a 200m to be murder. Here these competitors are doing 400m's which I think is pretty intense. Is there a 400m butterfly? Butterfly is by far the hardest stroke, and anyone who can survive a 400m of butterfly is my idol. and then there's those really long cycling competitions. I can't ride my bike for 10 minutes before my crotch starts to hurt from the hard seat. I can't imagine how these cyclists survive doing 20 or 30 km races. Especially today in the woman's cycling where it was raining the entire time. That's pretty dangerous, not to mention uncomfortable, and its amazing what the human body can do in the pursuit of fame and respect.
  11. Living near Chicago, weather can some time get to a point where it's hard to bear, but rarely extreme. We had hail in July which was pretty interesting. The occasional snowstorm in winter that Chicagoans have as a part of life which doesn't hold us back at all. and sometimes a week of unusually high temps. The last major thing that happened was when a tornado actually touched down in Chicago last week, but didn't do any damage, and moved to a suburb of Chicago later. My dad remembered a particular snowstorm in the 80s. Temperatures were below zero, snow was a foot high, cars wouldn't start. Maybe New York's gotten used to it, but it's unnatural for us.

Wow... Wii fit is actually a good weight loss program? I always thought it just helped keep people active, maybe burning some calories. To lose pounds with that thing you'd probably have to use it rigorously. On topic of excersize, I'm trying to get more in my day. I'm 14 and 167 pounds (I'm 5'10'' by the way). My doctor says I'm not overweight, but I could do with losing a few pounds. After all, I can't do more than 3 pushups before my arms get pained and I have to cut corners, thus not doing a true pushup. I'm going to start that 100 pushup thing starting this Monday and see if it works. But does the creator of the program have any medical experience that he can say it works? or is he a user of the program who found good results?

USA! USA! Loved the opening ceremony. That 200 foot long scroll which was actually an LCD screen was simply amazing, and the thing with the block shapes that moved up and down in a wavy pattern... I nearly spit out my food when I saw it was operated by people. Its amazing how so many people can be coordinated precisely. I felt really sorry for the Chinese cheerleaders in the ceremony, who had to dance and clap for each country as they appeared for 2 hours. You could see how they were excited for the first few countries then after about half an hour they got really tired and sweaty, but still smiled. I am hoping that some of the less-known pacific island countries can take home a gold or any medal, just to make their nation proud. some countries have just 1 or two athletes and if any of them got to take home a medal it would be one of the most amazing moments in their country's history.
  14. BERNIE MAC DIED?!?!?!? Damn, I've got to stop being so ignorant of current events. as for my favorite comedians, I enjoy Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert even though they probably have a board of people creating their jokes, they're still hilarious. But I think the best for me would be Jeff Dunham. Ventriloquism and comedy seem to go hand in hand, and Dunham brings all kinds of different acts to the stage. I think my favorite puppet of his would be Achmed.
  15. I may sound like an insensitive bastard by saying this, but I laugh at most accents that aren't mine (I'm american). My mother tells me not to do that, because anyone with an accent knows a language I don't. which is true, I only speak English. I respect people with accents because they had the guts to learn English, which is incredibly hard to learn because of all its special grammer and pronounciation rules, but I can't help but to giggle at some things they say. I'm trying to learn spanish and maybe German (German sounds so awesome) and I'm sure I'll have people laughing at my accent in those languages. I have an Indian/Pakistani heritage and don't speak any languages from either country, but I love doing the accent for my friends. Indian accents are the best in my opinion, but I may be biased
  16. Scientology is a lawsuit machine. it seems like their goal is not to convert the opposition, but to run it bankrupt, threaten it, and crush it. Everyone who's represented Scientology as a lawyer or supporter and later turned away is subject to threats and harassment. Its like the Mafia, where if you break the oath you're a dead man. I think Serepherus put it rather well. Ther only way to be saved is to give more and more money, break apart from non believing family, and believe things like the galactic federation and Lord Xenu which sounds like it came straight out of a sci-fi novel. Its a good thing Anon is on the opposing side because they'd be rather hard for Scientology to shut down.
  17. Simply put, Jeremy, there are very few things in this world you can show or tell your friends to make them change their minds. most often whatever you show them will soon evolve into a heated arguement over morals and hurt feelings. I've learned my lesson the hard way not to preach to your friends. However, I think the best step to start with is to ask them what they would accept as proof that God exists. They might say "an undeniable miracle". In which case, you might want to show them some eucharistic miracles, particularly the miracle at Lanciano, which even professionals have acknowledged to be hard to dispute. If they deny every miracle you show them then pretty much nothing will get them to change their minds. after all, the point of miracles is to show God's existence on earth.
  18. Err... who's Bill Hicks? either you have the wrong siggy in mind, or the wrong warren. Damn, I was getting excited being listed for once :x :x :x
  19. my friend lived a block away from My Chemical Romance's Gerard Way. I've never lived near anyone famous -.-
  20. I'm too recessive. I let people take advantage of me way to easily. I'd suck as a world leader. I'm incredibly forgetful and very ignorant on current events.
  21. I'm the kind of person who takes way too much time to think of a response for any split second occurance. Case A: laugh it off. unless I get hurt, then I'd scream in agony even if I'm not hurt that bad. Case B: I'd say I wasn't looking there, and ask why she was looking at me. Case C: Laugh with them. Case D: This is where I'd stutter and hope she has a good conversation starter. I'm never good at romance.
  22. I choose Obama, first and foremost because I'm a Chicago native, and second because I love how he turned away lucrative job offers to work with the communities of chicago. I love how he brought the fist bump to politics, and his wife brought it to the women of The View. Pretty soon it'll replace the hand shake. Michelle Obama is definitely a good first lady, she manages to handle some of Barack's publicity, her daughters, and assist in his campaign and somehow keep her sanity. Take that, Eleanor Roosevelt. I'm afraid I can't get into the current debate about capitalism and socialism, politics was never my strong side. So don't drag me into it.
  23. Amazing. 2 pages of post and no mature content has been brought out? good job, OT for restraining yourselves. I know you all want to discuss those things :-# as for me, I only weigh myself when I'm alone. I can't step on a scale when someone's in the next room. I guess its because my family teases me about checking my weight even though I'm not that fat. also, I only go on the internet when I'm alone. unless my family is too occupied.

My entire family eats the edges, except my brother. My brother tears them off and throws them away, or makes someone else eat them. He's very picky. Hell, he even rips off the edges of hot dog buns and leaves off pizza crusts. he doesn't like anything crusty.
  25. School starts at the end of August for me, and I'll be a freshman then. I'm glad our principal did away with the traditional "throw pennies at freshman every friday during each passing period" started by the seniors. it was pretty popular for the seniors, and has been going on for over a decade now. Then someone got hurt in the eye or something and the tradition was called off, much to the dismay of all the non-freshman and some teachers. there also used to be a pep rally where the seniors would stand up in the gym and scream "go home freshman!" and the freshmen would stand up and yell "go home senior!" but the principal considered that to be not very welcoming for the freshman, so that's been done away with. At least I won't have to be worried about flying pennies and screaming seniors on my first day of school.
