"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
Solidus_77 replied to Da_Latios's topic in Off-Topic
I can help. Generally that's the problem of creating too much comfort. Now whilst comfort is a good thing, if you make too much of it too early on in a stage you're basically screwed. Keeping a bit distant could help. Show your interest earlier (as deloriagod said) and this shouldn't happen as much. If it does, you move on. Honestly I don't know if you can try again but don't insist. Just move on. Keep in mind that there is no full-proof system either. Twice I've been friend zone'd and I have a theory that shy girls are more likely to friend-zone. The first really bothered me because I was all like "what the hell did I do wrong!? How did I screw up?" when in fact the girl was the one being way too insecure about relationships. The second time was probably telegraphing too much interest but I didn't feel as bad because I didn't get as attached to her (and she was very shy). So even if it doesn't work, asking out early on can keep you getting too attached to her (which makes it hurt less if she does reject/friend zone you). FYI guys I'm not on as much due to college work/parties/whatever. -
What affects a person's first 99 choice?

In case you're curious, assuming you double nat craft at the abyss. You're only about 1,000,000 Nature runes away from 99 rc  -
Weak. There are plenty of other ways to relieve stress. (like video games), some are actually healthy (like going to the gym). Everyone has tough time in their life. Suck it up and stop relying on something like cigs to keep you going. Feeling that you NEED it in order to deal with stress is pretty much a guaranteed addiction right there.

It really depends what you're into. 70 will last a while if you're doing some things, but 70 is pretty short if you're doing any form of monster hunting. I use to do DKs with 64 prayer and not only are trips shorter but I've had some VERY dangerous moments where I ran out of prayer. Eventually I got 85 and it helps a lot (and trips are MUCH longer), however, it could be even better, 99 pray is VERY useful in monster hunting and VERY worth getting.

The real solution is to go with friends that you like and trust. I've been to countless trips the Armadyl, Bandos, Dag Kings with Guardians of Fate in the past and every single trip has been a blast. Then I would go solo and all of a sudden the lair is so lonely.

A vast skill-related moneymaking skill? Yes, that's runecrafting. I think I've made about 500M from my total carrier in runecrafting. Slayer is arguably great as well, but that's more of a combat-related way since you're relying on monster drops. There are still ways in this game of making a fortune. Considering rune armor is cheaper than dirt, no. You'd have to completely re-invent the skill. Change ALL the levels. Nobody wants rune armor anymore, all that good armor is from Barrows. Nobody wants R2H, godswords and whips are "in" and those will NEVER be obtainable by smithing. In a way monster hunting and monster drops replaced smithing as well, considering they brought out the better armor. It sort of happened as the game progressed, and of course as the demand for rune items plummeted. The status and value of smithing changed dramatically as players grew, money supply expanded and people were no longer satisfied with rune armor. Right now smithing is a thing of the past. I'd be surprised if they did. Wrong, wrong and wrong. Where to start? All gathering skills (like mining, wc) where you gather raw materials are still pure profit method (where time is the only factor). So hardly all skills are useless. Then you've got the mother of all ways to make money: Abyssal runecrafting which makes very reliable cash. Also, you're talking of Godwars dungeon as if you get drops every time you go there. Are you kidding me? Have you even attempted the place? Not all trips are guaranteed cash.

What affects a person's first 99 choice?

Back when I got the construction cape (first 99 skill) this was a big one for me. I didn't want "just another skillcape", I wanted something BIG. The fact that it was rare was a big reason for why I got it. One thing it's important to notice is many of these go both ways, one person will go for a skill because it's cheap while someone will go for another skill because it's expensive. Many will go for 2 capes that will remain unnamed because they are easy, while others will go for stuff like slayer, runecrafting or summoning because they are hard. I like how you said "first 99", the first one is always a bit special. That's when you go from having no skillcape, not knowing what the challenge is, to feeling that fuzzy sense of completion. The first one is special (or at least was for me, I don't know how it's like for cook/fletch) -
When I had my skillcape strangely enough I didn't have this problem. Perhaps because I wore a cape shared with only 1,025 other people? How long before people give up this "proud to be wearing a skillcape that's often seen on a daily basis and is no special occurrence". I went to look out of curiosity: Players with 99 Cooking: 50,664 Players with 99 Fletching: 49,794

Extremists. For being too extreme.

Ahh... such wonderful ignorance. You haven't ever played online on the new ones have you? In fact, scrub that, did you even know you could go online in D/P? Go up against a Blissey, a Tyranitar, a Weavile and a Salamence online, and repeat that statement - I wish you the very best of luck (you'll need it) ;) Blissey is a gold/silver/crystal version pokemon isn't it? So is Tyranitar.

Define "take part" cause I lurk a lot. The one I actively use is GameFaqs for guides. Otherwise I do my share of lurking at places when needed, random forums for a specific game that I'm interested in and at the escapist for obvious reasons.

Erm, go to the gym and do an exercise routine? That's what will actually give you some muscles as opposed to just staying in shape. For the past month I've been going to the gym every day on an exercise plan. (I train different muscles each day obviously in a cycle that repeats every 4 days giving the muscles enough time to recover) and my muscles have at least tripled in strength and can actually be seen now. It's also important to do cardio before and after you train, otherwise your muscles are cold. Best of all, I get to meet people who work out there everyday. If you also want to get more muscles, get a special diet which consists of high protein and carbohydrates. That means lots of meat and additionally try getting some protein powder for a supplement. As for motivation? Chicks dig guys with muscles, you'll feel more confident. If that's not enough motivation, then it feels damn good and satisfying to feel exhausted after a hard day at the gym.

Yep, it was done so that we could test my vision after the operation (I had double-vision on one side as well as a few other things due to a muscle not working correctly) to ensure that it was, in fact, corrected. As for twitching? Well this weird thing was placed over my eye to keep it open, still I was asked to look up during the operation so that he could reach the muscles and I don't wanna know what would happen if I suddenly moved down. :ohnoes:

Only one!? Tricky. Blizzard, it's good against dragons which is cool, it freezes pokemon which is even cooler and it makes water pokemon VERY deadly which is the coolest.

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice

That kind of stuff happens. Just forget about this girl and forget about this guy. Neither one is making you happy right now. -
What you say doesn't matter much. Body language says it all. And yeah, it's pretty easy to say whatever given the time to think about it. (My answers are just the first thing(s) that came to mind though) "Don't worry, that was supposed to happen" or "this time I'll do it right" and get back up there. Depends on the girl Either: "I thought I saw something interesting but on second thought I'll pass" "Don't worry, I was paying attention" "Hmm, sorry? haha, just kidding" Or: "My, you must have quite an imagination :)" Smile and/or laugh with them or go up to them and talk to them. That's a great way to meet friends btw (I can easily relate my passion for watching stupid people do stupid things). Erm, I'd cut in before the awkward silence but if it does happen then I'd say something like "That was pretty awkward huh? Well then we better re-do it"

If he's the one dating your crush, isn't that an indication of it being time to move on? You're feeling miserable, could that be a side effect of you having a crush on a girl? I know it's 10 times more painful when the girl you had feelings for starts dating someone else. As others have said, ignore him. He doesn't matter and what he thinks of you is not important, he's just an idiot looking for a cheap laugh. I'll help by showing you what went wrong. The might have acted like a jerk but he reacted to what you said and frankly I'm not all that surprised. You see, whilst girls act through emotions, guys act through logic (of course there are exceptions). Thus, if a guy acts through emotions, he act effeminate (in this case he said 'gay', which is basically the same thing just more immature on his part). towards another guy that's frowned upon. It's the same reason Dr Cox, from Scrubs, calls JD by girls' names. Now, keeping these feelings bottled up is not going to help you a bit, but spilling emotions towards a guy is just going to embarrass you or worse. So you have two options: Spill out your emotions towards a friend who's a girl, or talk to guys using logic instead of emotions. Spilling your emotions towards a girl might be more comfortable and will get a good response for you but it runs the risk of reinforcing the effeminate image. Also, this girl has to be pretty close and in the "let's just be friends" zone. The other option is talking about your problems with guys (and not the ones you just met like this guy) but communicating in a totally logical or "manly" way. Focus more on what happened rather than how miserable you feel. -
Whenever I go with the flow I never end up backstabbing my friends. Whenever I am loyal to my friends, I don't get socially rejected. I try to go with the flow when it's convenient or helps me, but then I stand out (in a good way) when needed as well. Best of both worlds ftw.

^ Goddamn that move was annoying. Another nasty one was the Cervantes's counter moves but only I have a friend who can read my [bleep]ing MIND and always manages to nail me. Luckily Siegfried has about 3 huge sweeper moves that are simply awesome (I assume he still has the same moves from SCIII right?), and I love abusing seong mina's Jedi move (the one where she spins over the other guy's head spinning her halberd). Wow, so is the character creation really good in this one or something?

Man, SarahZero is so bad. The last like 3 months of comics from him have been him [bleep] about getting banned from SomethingAwful... Really? Ok news to me but the stuff before all that is good. It's way too pretentious for me, and the guy is an [wagon] who doesn't take criticism. To each his own. Fair enough. Still, what I like is how different the art and style is compared to all other comics.

Mine's not accidental but has left an impression. My eye operation. Why? Well you see not only I was awake during the entire thing but the anesthetic used was a special one (I was given the choice between local anesthetic and this special eye-drop anesthetic which was beneficial but more risky, I chose the latter) so that the muscles wouldn't be paralyzed and could still move. Translation: I could feel the pressure and the tension as the knife went behind my eye, as it fixed the muscle and as the thread closed up the wound. The worst moment was seeing the knife get closer and closer to the eye till I felt it. Even to this day, if I see some eye-related injury (like the scene in MGS3 - you know what I'm talking about) it gives me chills.

Rebdragon, he's got that "wise badass" aura about him. Managing to say a lot with very few words. Inspired me to try and do the same to an extent. Goddess, I've disagreed with her so many times but she's managed to create quite an impact on me that no other TIFer has done. Honorable mention goes to echofish for the kawaiiest avatar and Lionheart for having Rikku as a sig. (and cause they're cool)

I definitely agree about VGCats, but CntrlAltDel I really actually enjoy :( Reverse that. VGcats actually has some good jokes combined with some good drawings. CAD has crappy plotlines, premature and boring punchlines (look up CADsucks which is an edited version of CAD, then you'll understand) as Nardil said and his comic has been completely torn to shreds by Yhatzee twice. I mean I use to like CAD until I saw stuff that was much better. In a way that's good, because I got tons more laughs. Some good webcomics that I follow: VGcats (Art is really good, some excellent jokes, sucks that it updates so rarely) Fanboys (Art style is weird but plenty of good jokes) The Noob (Excellent plot for an MMORPG parody and I swear I caught some references to runescape) Order of the Stick (Good characters, good plot, long panels but several jokes so it works... and I don't even play D&D) SarahZero (Words cannot describe this comic, it's style is unique and it's crazy stuff) I don't follow some of the most popular ones like PA, C&H. PA because there are only so many webcomics I can keep up with and C&H because I only get the joke 50% of the time.
