Oh wait, crap. I forgot! Without the internet, I would have never learned how to approach and attract girls and thus would never have become a social extrovert (since one lead to the other). So basically, ironically, without the internet I would have been a nerdy introvert. God, that would have sucked, ugh.

School, most of which in classes, activities or in my spare time. It usually starts by saying "Hi". A few girls I've gotten to know by going over to their houses (to play video games \ ). I've met some people in summer camps. And last but certainly not least: Clubs/bars/parties. I don't have many shocking stories, most of these people I just made the effort and ended up getting to know them however some of the guys/girls at school are people with whom I've been in some vicious verbal confrontations before. Oh yeah and there is no real cliques demographic. I can be friends with anyone reguardless of interest. And also I never really became social till two years ago. Before then I had very few friends.

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
Solidus_77 replied to Da_Latios's topic in Off-Topic
Seems pretty stupid. Killing some of the replys in this, kills some good advice. People could go through the thread first, to see if theres anything to help them, however, you just got rid of parts which could be useful to some people. Lol come on. Everyone says the same thing anyway... That's true, I'd say about half the problems here revolve around one-itis (aka "there's this one girl at my school who...." or "I know this one girl and she......"), another popular trend is of people come in asking about how to become more social (personally this is my favorite, although I've dealt with both problems in my life) and a few odds questions. Oh yeah and some people come in for relationship advice, but that's not really my area. To me, you've already succeeded. -
3.5 years playing runescape would have been spent elsewhere. On retrospect that's probably a good thing. I'd also lose a lot of knowledge from this forum, wiki, etc.... Acceptable. Hours upon hours of anime watched, erm, that's kinda not so good (I'd have just read mangas in a library). The killer is that I would have missed out on Classics that I was too young to see and had to download via ROMs (Zelda OoT of course, but also Conker's bad fur day!).

Absolutely, that goes without saying. That amount of cash can be (for some people) a good reason to sabotage a portion of their life or "growth their natural talent". It's just that for any reason other than that, you're wasting your time. Still that's a hawt prize..... Ok, I rest my case. It just seems ironic that girls worship the king of nerds. Although if you think they are popular, j-drama k-drama male actors seem to have formed armies of insane fangirls who will do anything for them.

While that is very true that people would prefer to make friends via professional teams, the amount of time needed to spend to get to that level is so ridiculously huge it outweighs any gains. In that time just imagine all the other stuff you could have done. But I guess for these guys it's an alternative for obscene amounts of time spent playing MMOs and if that's the case then I guess it's better. 70% female to something related to gaming is already hard to believe (unless it's for mario kart or something), but 70% attending the nerdiest of nerdiest activities? There's no way in hell I'm going to believe that till I see some sources  . That, or Korean girls are really desperate/crazy.

Do you have any idea how much time you have to spend playing Starcraft just to get to that level? Sure, they get to meet the people on their team and have a great time as a team but when it comes to meeting people, there are much better ways. It's a bit hard to tell but I agree with Shadow, the crowd seemed just like a giant sausage-fest. Once again, when it comes to meeting girls, there are much better ways (even if you want to meet nerdy/gamer girls, you actually have to become extroverted and social). It was funny how they did the cheesy intro though

What's wrong with playing games with your friends all day, playing in tournaments and having a large fanbase of fangirls? Are you somehow implying that girls actually have the slightest interest in nerds who spend countless hours of their life alone? Actually I am a bit confused. First you mention playing games with friends, the social side of gaming. Then you mention playing tournaments, the "professional" or "hardcore" side of gaming. So how do you bring the two together? Both are opposites and most of the girls in gaming ("most" in this case is still a strikingly small number compared to the girls who don't care about gamers) go for casual party and a few go for the FPS/MMO. Very few (if any) actually care about these nerdy "athletes". Want to get girls whilst at the same time play video games? Here's a hint: Chicks dig JRPGs.

Gonna have to be Aladdin. Loved it from a very young age. As for the song, the one where he flies over the city with the carpet. It's just magical. I'll give the honorable mention to Lion King since that was just a great story and Fantasia because combining such music with images, colors and stories was just incredible.

The only way you could have known for sure is if you had said "you" when she asked (by the way what did you answer?), otherwise it sounds to me like an obvious indicator of interest. It's imperative that you stop worrying about the fear of rejection. It's something that you, alone, have to overcome but I will say this: The only reason you're afraid of rejection is because you care about her and only her so much. The guy who has only one option (this girl), is bound to have incredible fear of rejection, however if you could have multiple options with multiple girls, losing one option won't hurt you nearly as much. This won't help the current situation much but keep in mind that in the long run, create multiple possibilities will avoid fear of rejection (along with so many other things). In the end it's like standing at the edge of a diving board. You have to make the jump sometime, so don't sit around worrying about how tall it is, just do it. In this girl situation, you're going to have to take the risk in order to get what you want or else you'll end up missing out on the opportunity all together. Willboyer1, I hope this can help you as well. -

WAAA! Those were the two first games I ever played in my life as well! -
Congrats to you, Solidus. You deserve more: Your brother, Solid Snake, turns out to be a real pervert. ;) Oh this is hilarious  I didn't realize there was such a trend with Solid Snake.

Mother nature and newton decide if our decision was stupid enough to be punishable by death. juggling hand grenades for example (famous darwin award), staring into an unexploded firecracker, cutting down the support beam holding up a gigantic tower, bypassing security systems WHICH ARE INSTALLED FOR THAT VERY PURPOSE, picking up unexploded land mines, having sex on a pyramid shaped roof, are all incredibly stupid decisions and the people who make those decisions deserve to be eradicated from the gene pool.

For the "ever caught them" discussion I figured it would happen eventually but seriously, what prompted the fascist crackdown on the whole board? Did some angry soccer mom complain because her 12 year old son read stories in a thread labeled "Mature Content"? The Funny Picture thread though should be kept open but censoring certain images. Oh wait, that's what mods have been doing all along! If the admins can't do anything to help keep OT the way it is, could they at least get rid of the trolls that have been plaguing us? -
Oh come on, since when is having a sense of humor "unneeded"? Nothing wrong with a sense of humor, but there have been so many pictures with Snake and Zero Suit Samus. I won't get into details.... :? That was the first one I saw. Probably why I found it so funny  And the whole codec thing.

Good game series or not it's definitely not the most in-depth fighting game. The biggest thing to remember that options != depth. That being said it's already been confirmed that its not even a real review, just Game Informer inciting the fanboys (which seems to have worked). This whole "Let's write negative reviews about highly popular games for the sole purpose of annoying fanboys" is really quite ridiculous. I mean it was funny when Yahtzee did it because he actually had a consistent negative opinion and he didn't do it just to annoy the fanboys (though I'm pretty sure it was one of his intentions). Oh come on, since when is having a sense of humor "unneeded"?

If so then would you explain why it's solved my problems once and for all? It's pretty obvious that ignoring is going to work. People tease and bully because they get a reaction. If you show no reaction, then they won't get anything out of you. Obviously they're going to try harder and harder, but if they get no reaction whatsoever they will eventually break and move on. It doesn't work if you suddenly explode at the end and it doesn't work if you make it so obvious that you're trying to avoid it. You just have to show no reaction whatsoever. Oh yeah and for the record, I was among the tallest of the class but was still bullied around. Even when I fought back I can't take on a bunch of tough guys. I screwed up cause I reacted towards a ton of stuff. Once I stopped being so insecure, all the problems disappeared. Thus ignoring obviously works but only in specific context. I don't see why you think it's naive to think that way at all. I thought so too, and when I tried it I faced with devastating consequences however if you'd read the thread, you'd have seen goddess gave an interesting example in which she told the teachers to prevent a bully situation and it ended very peacefully without any social destruction (which is usually the problem). So, once again, it's "incredibly dumb" in some circumstances but NOT in others. It's part of the one-size-fits-all policy. I agree, and that's exactly what happened to me. However apparently it doesn't always end like that. Wrong. It depends on how they react. I'm tall, and I use to react horribly to insults, get all defensive, make a big deal out of nothing. It was only after I ignored the insults that the problem disappeared. Physical bullying is a very different story but even then there are ways to avoid physical confrontation (which is another viable solution for some people).

4 on AP computer science A last year. 5/7 on IB Math HL and IB economics HL, considering I did no study at all (and paper 3 of the math HL was incredibly difficult), I say that's not bad :. Still, I was hoping for 6 in econ (5/7 isn't enough for IB credit). 3/7 IB Chem HL though, that was a failure but the test was hell.

Just because the nerds are extreme nerds doesn't make them go full circle to jock

Seems like I'm the absolute opposite from you in some ways  , I have a very low stress level even before a major test and love hanging out with people and haven't undergone the family difficulties that you seem to have. However, I often get difficulty sleeping or just being restless. Know what my secret is? Physical activities. Treadmill, martial arts, running, bicycle. I try and do something every day. Simply put: get off the damn computer and go do some physical exercise. Although I admit that taking away all technology privileges is totally taking it too far and isn't going to solve anything, I still think it's in your best interest not to spend so much time in front of a screen.

Yay! At some convention of some sort as a kid (like 6) I won a dark wing duck movie and ended up watching it quite a few times. -
