  1. There are plenty of good moneymaking methods that require no skill levels. In fact summoning has created some as well. Is it unrealistic that the low-lvl summons don't help much? I think not.
  2. A few problems: Rock crabs alone till 40 is inefficient. Make other summons as well because you have other charms to use. (such as scorpions or spirit wyrms, beavers, compost heaps, honeybadgers) Ants are not going to be realistic because they require marigolds and you have to get those via farming Karamthulu overlords are not good for grinding because blue charms are rare Daggonnoths are much better experience later on for going all the way to 99 and it does NOT cost 100m to get the shards for them  You've got to understand that, in order to level up efficiently, you have to make use of ALL the charms. Not just one type of them. That's why people have come up with some crazy numbers like "200m for 99 summoning on granite crabs" I mean who in their sane mind would use such an inefficient creature for training when there are way better options?
  3. ^ that just shows that it's all your fault. Why should he answer to your obvious provocation? He rightfully kicked you and then all the other kicks were just more of the same.
  4. ^ Or like a guy who can "talk to women". Basically the idea behind it is always self-confidence. You feel confident if you dress well. You must be confident in order to move your body around and you have to be confident in order to approach women and talk to them. Apparently, however, girls judge who they like based on personality as much as guys judge who they like based on looks.
  5. How do I break even/profit? I'm really confused here >_< Sorry for the newbie question.... It's a lil hard to notice because it's indirect (hence why everyone didn't realize it) but the summons all allow you to perform tasks most efficiently. The easiest example is for combat. Having a familiar to hit with you, even if he can only hit 20% as good as you, is still very effective meaning that when you would normally kill 10 creatures now you can kill 12. More kills means more drops and more drops means more cash. The highest summons are around lvl 100 so you can just imagine how much that will improve your combat effectiveness. Then there's stuff like the beaver for woodcutting, the abyssal summons for abyssal runecrafting and there's a summon that is able to get sharks. Those are just a few examples among many.
  6. Anyone tested out the spirit wolf's howl or is that out of the question?
  7. Yeah, the charms are not really all that bad if you know what you're doing. E.g. certain monsters drop a certain color charm more frequently. Some incredibly clever Tip.iter by the name of solidus made a thread where he has the list of monsters that are reputed for dropping a certain color charm more frequently O:) Agreed. This is a combat skill so forcing people to kill monsters for charms makes sense
  8. Hehe, bring it on :P . You've actually got a big advantage over me because I don't have 80 slayer..... yet!
  9. at 50 gp you break even with the skill. I'd say it's much better to be able to gain some profit. Also it's expensive for people who are just starting the skill so the halved cost is perfectly reasonable.
  10. Well obviously you don't even know how to train it because the exp gain in summoning isn't as bad as some skills and the cost isn't as bad as construction.
  11. Why is it so hard to understand balance? You can't just make a cheap skill that has heaps of benefits. There has to be a downside somewhere. With summoning you get hundreds of benefits from your familiars so it's only natural that you have to end up spending something. It will pay itself in the longrun trust me. To limit the already extreme benefits of the skill. Because this is a JAVA game and there exists limitations. Also, "fun" is a matter of opinion. I think this skill is incredibly fun and has added a lot to the game. Your combat abilities will increase as you hunt for charms, trust me. 1. This is a JAVA GAME, so limitations exist 2. Just imagine all the idiots running around saying "this game looks too much like WOW" or "this game rips off wow" Uh, yes you can. It's called opinions. So you just try a skill, decide you don't like it because it's not identical to another game and then decide to quit? Talk about impulsive. But I'm not here to critisize your actions, I'm here to tell you that there is way more to the skill than you think. Just go play WOW if you love it so much. There is no way this game will be able to look like it. And also you have yet to explain why summoning is so "poorly thoughtout" besides the fact that you "just don't like it" and believe it's too expensive without realizing the hundreds of benefits. Don't even compare the quests in wow and quests in RS. The quests in WoW are generally quite poor and consist of just random tasks while RS quests have actual storylines to them (way better than what you find in WoW). The mere fact that you were able to complete that many quests in a short amount of time just shows how poor-quality the quests in WoW can be. Don't get me wrong, WoW has some aspects that are much better than runescape, but quests aren't one of them. Again, your definition of "fun" is waaaay different from other people's. So this description is totally vague and doesn't hold the slightest bit of significance. well at least this rant isn't completely terrible. A lot of people were expecting that to be the means of training summoning and that's probably why a lot of people were disappointed. The solution is to not get your hopes up because if you didn't hope for the skill to be like that, you wouldn't mind this form of training.
  12. Do you need the face mask for the dust devils in the new chaos tunnels? Off topic but how do you get the text Quote to be XXXX Wrote: - sorry I'm an old person and have trouble with this sort of thing Ta Zed Yeah I made an interesting discovery yesterday. I tried to fight the dust devils without the facemask and died VERY FAST DESPITE MY BANDOS ARMOR . Lost nothing thanks to the angel of death grave but now I know: Facemask is used for FIGHTING the dust devils as well as surviving in the well and is 100% mandatory. as for quote, use
  13. The ability to extend your inventory and get herbs pays for summoning. It's a matter of statistics. Sounds to me like you're the one who's just blowing hot air. Wrong. There are plenty of monsters that have more favorable drop rates and summons can help that. Summons can help you in your kill which means you can do more kills and more kills leads to more drops on average. Sure you won't notice the difference if you take a tiny sample but overall you'll notice just how incredibly helpful the summons are. We can increase our chances by killing more monsters at a faster rate. That's exactly what summons help to accomplish. says the ignorant who bases his entire opinion on an extremely limited part of the skill. Looks like a lot of people underestimate the summons by saying "oh well I can hit more therefore they aren't strong". I wonder if these people are forgetting that you fight WITH your summon and the CUMULATIVE damage is far more than what you could accomplish on your own. Even the most basic summons allow for a little bit of extra damage which, overall, will make a difference. Then just imagine the top level summons which can hit half as good as I can with my godsword. That means I can, on average, kill 3 things in the time it would take to kill 2. Do you realize how much that is?
  14. I must say I am very impressed after testing out the dust devils in the new dungeon. They are easier to kill too.
  15. Happened so fast that I didn't really throw a party. I'm training at dust devils now in order to get crimson charms. Eventually I'll work on slayer when I have a decent familiar to help me out but for now I wanna continue to train this wonderful skill. : HUGE kudos to jagex for comming out with an awesome skill which really gives incentive for me to train combat as well as some useful benefits for other skills. In a while from now, I will have 99 summoning regardless of how many weeks or months it may take. I am making that my biggest and my ultimate skill goal in this game but for now, I'm going to have fun with my bronze minotaur. Oh, and here's a tip: Spirit daggonnoths are without a doubt going to be a large portion of training summoning to 99. I'd start collecting daggonoth hides if I were you.
  16. *ding**ding*ding* we have a winner! This seems like the perfect beast to kill for the dagannoth spirit summon (which I am willing to bet is going to be the primary means of training summoning to 99)
  17. so the wolves are potentially an excellent source of crimson charms. Could someone kill masses of them to verify that?
  18. no, there arn't any shops that sell bronze bars. Yeah, that's why i set aside 100m for summoning : Well the rune minotaurs seem more useful in combat than for grinding purposes along with a lot of the other things.
  19. Excellent, so summoning is really just an expensive skill at first. Eventually it just becomes a mass charm-gathering spree.
  20. Strongly agree with each of those points. : and I seriously hope that the pouches become valuable or at least sell-able. I'd also like to add that the training method for this skill is really interesting. Ok I'm sick of people calculating 99 summoning based off of ONE summon. In order to level it effectively you must make all sorts of different kinds of pouches in order to use up the different charm colors. You can't just train on gold charms only. I simply can't wait to use the later more impressive summons
