not when using gilded alter and d bones, it's a huge amount of exp per hour, but the cost becomes the hard part. -
Debate on which is the harder 99 skill
Solidus_77 replied to Phyrexial's topic in General Discussion
i think agility is fun lol......but i think that the hardest 99 is runecraft just cause of the low exp and 99 rc is the one that the least people have. Incorrect, construction has less (less than 100) -
For me, some monsters were strong enough to be reguarded as "bosses" now I can destroy them barehanded probably. Funny how perception of difficulty changes

It's a pain to get dry runs or no good drops, but nothing rubs it in when a friend steals your luck like that. I killed shadow warriors till I had 80 80 80 in combat stats. Not a single dragon drop, and someone else kills a few and gets the darn left half

Abyssal pker, annoying and dangerous pure. Teled quickly with electophial and then glory (to get faster to a bank) with 6 hp and poisoned (so quickly in fact I accidently hit draynor, which was ok) rushed to the bank and too late! I got hit a 6 by the poison.... but wait. I was still alive! It seems I recovered 1 hp at the right moment saving me a horrible death, needless to say I ate till full hp and got a anti pot The irony is that later I discovered you could teleport to house and be 100% safe

That could be possible, but then they have to make another minigame like Trouble Brewing. That minigame is not being played every day lol. (btw ben je Nederlands?) Yeah, but that's only because of it's location and requirements, so half of runescape doesn't even know the thing exists. It would be popular because it has the hottest clothes set in the game. Temple trekking has pathetic rewards to be honest.

3/10 not exactly the best stats. Everything needs improvement really.

Specialty shop, as in the opposite of general shop. Basically anything that's not a general shop

If both people agree on the price, it's fine. If you PRETEND to sell it for a given price and then DECIEVE the person then it would be scamming. You didn't decieve anyone, you were clear about what price you wanted and since the other person traded then it's clear they agreed on that price as well

of the millions of times I have used the abyss, the closest abyssal entrance has almost ALWAYS been either agility or mining. Just wield a pickaxe and you can get through 3 of the obstacles.

The stupidest lure in the book "meet me by the prayer guild, I'm recharging prayer" Of course it's nice to have a shortcut, and it's only into lvl 2 wildy but I'm surious enough to take the long road around. The guy is poisoned and arrives running out of the wildy shouting "nooooooo" and logs. -
How Do You Spend Your Time (And Money) On RS?
Solidus_77 replied to Aking's topic in General Discussion
I use to spend my money on NOTHING but skilling. However recently I've radically changed my playing style so I am buying the full packet: Barrows sets, super sets, prayer pots, sharks, everything you need to kill the dangerous monsters in rs & barrows -
Use to have a collection of beer from around the world. From cider to slayer's respite

It was easy to kill him for me since I crafted my own bow (bit hard with 25 range) but the problem was that there was another guy who came in a bit later After a load of arrows this other moron got impatient and tried to cut the tree making the same spirit attack him. So I did the same and we were constantly trying to cut the tree to get in combat with the tree spirit and hit him. The leathal blow would be the winning one. He hit the spirit and ALMOST killed it, I madly clicked the tree and then hit the spirit and killed it. He was pretty pissed, but heh, he started it.

It's just getting more and more competitive. For someone specialized, a high rank on a 99 skill (more like a rare skill too) For a combat specialist, max combat or close to it For a ballanced skiller, all 80+ would be quite good I would dissagree for the 1 99 stat vs 5 99 stats vs 10 99 stats because some are a lot better than others. You could have the six easiest skills at 99 and that would be less admirable than the hardest skill at 99 It's my cape that gives me the pride, not my combat Depends: how they ask (good: wow, nice cape, can I see the emote. bad: Omg do the emote, DO THE EMOTE!!! plz, plz plz. DO it NOW!) When they ask (good: when I'm just standing somewhere bad: in the middle of a fight, or 5 seconds before then end of a pc round) and if they bombard me with questions or compliments

less leetspeak, more stat/bank or anything pics -
Duke_freedom was also carefull to specify that the calculating had a gigantic error margin in it too. He could be off by 300 bill. But there are also tons and tons of way the money is removed. Anything related to construction, anything bought in shops etc........ That's all theoritical, basically saying that with the increase in the supply of money, it will take more money to buy stuff therefore prices rise. Yes that would be inflation, but where is the increase in price? It's been less than 10% for almost all raw materials. It has significantly decreased for barrows armor and weapons. The only thing with a significant increase in price is the discontinued items. There is no way to say for sure until someone does a price index calculation but there is seriously no evidence of inflation, let alone hyperinflation of prices raising by 600%. not just rich merchants, but rich people. And how is this a problem anyways? Do you want to incrase the value of the currency? Make whips and everything else even more cheap than they already were? There really is no need for that kind of intervention. This increase in demand is a very different factor which contributes to increase in price. In fact that helps explain any increase in price therefore showing that the increase was NOT due to inflation. And there's one key thing that happens if you harm alchemy in any way shape or form. The people who depend on it. This is known as the unnemployment vs inflation debate in the real world and, although I am not a fan of using macroeconomic theories in runescape, I think this one fits to describe the problem to some degree. Basically, with inflation, lots of money is being produced, more is being produced than is being removed therefore leading to the imballance. But that's not a bad thing, in fact it has a huge advantage: It provides jobs for all the people who use alchemy and not only that but also all the runecrafters and woodcutters who help get the supply. If you harm alchemy, you harm 60 wc as a way to sell yews, you harm runecrafting as a profitable skill and you harm alchemy all of that in the name of solving a n unproven myth of dangerous inflation. Inflation is only dangerous if it is NOT controlled in the real world. In runescape, jagex have a lot more control, so it's very, very easy for them to create a leakage (or money sink, I just dislike that term) to ballance. This is done in the real world but in very different ways. Basically this keeps the inflation in check. Finally, I'm pretty sure people have no clue what dangerous inflation is as opposed to controlled inflation. If the prices of coal rise from 150-200 to 170 - 220, do we have to scream apocalype? No, because the economy is still standing. Hyperinflation would be coal rising from 150 to 30000 in the space of a day. In germany, during the cases of hyperinflation, the value of the paper had exeeded the value of money it represented. It caused tremendous problems, if you didn't get to the bank in time the money would be worthless the next morning. This was a terrible problem and was a very bad case of hyperinflation. Alchemy has been a job for a while now, and we have never in any way had any severe cases like this. The greatest increase in price was caused by pure ess, making ess go from 25-40 to 100-120 and even if that is more than double and caused some damage, the economy still stands. Harming alchemy would be just like pure ess all over again. Is that really something we want? Destroying it will destroy a lot of ballance in the game, harming it will thus harm the ballance in the game. There is NO proven case of inflation yet, and the people who proclaim inflation as the end of the world all blame it on the increase in price of rares. Rares are very different cases which don't exactly follow the laws of supply and demand, so it's irrelevant to base a price average on them and use that to show a sustained rise in the price of everything.

so..... say I wanted to use the channel #rs for example? How would that fit in?
-
interesting, how about a way to have runescape open and use any IRC channel in the same window?
-
First of all I would like to know why you assume prices will rise by 600% when most of them havn't budged much in the past few years (except discontinued items, they are a special case) There is no freakin hyperinflation and there has never been any in runescape, that's a very very extreme case. In fact there is no acctuall proof of inflation, everyone is basing themselves on specific goods. To find out inflation you need to get the PRICE INDEX (that's like the average of all prices) and compare it to the previous year (or month, which ever works better for runescape) so no price index recorded = no proof.

Debate on which is the harder 99 skill
Solidus_77 replied to Phyrexial's topic in General Discussion
Got to seperate buyable and non-buyable skills. For the buyable ones the time it takes varies according to the person's income (and for the love of god, the time it takes to gather the materials is part of getting the skill to 99). For some people a buyable skill will be harder if they income sucks, because it will simply be faster to get a non-buyable skill to 99 The high-scores give you an idea of which skills are harder by seeing how many people achieved 99 (less people = harder skill) however this can't be the only thing to determine. First of all, it's a popularity measure. It shows which skillcapes are the rarest and which are the most common, which is similar but not the same as harder and easier. Second of all, skills were released at different times. So even if a skill might catch up, it still makes a difference. That being said the high-scores can give a nice clue. Non-buyable Slayer: the exp rates are very, very harsh making this a long skill to lvl up. However I don't have a ton of experience with slayer so I could be wrong. The hi-scores do also point in favor of that, about 150 people have achieved 99 slayer. That's very small compared to 10k people (fletching) buyable Construction: my personal bias set aside, it requires a hell of a lot of cash. More than ANY other skill because there is no return. This is an important factor for buyable skills. Cooking is easier than firemaking because cooking has a return and firemaking doesnt for example. The highscores are also pointing in favor of this. Construction is (and i'm proud to say this ) the rarest skillcape, the only one with less than 100 people. It took me 85 mill to get it the slower way, tripsis did it the faster way with 120 mill. Those are way above any other buyable skills (smithing comes close, 100 mill but then a return of 40 mill which gives 60 mill for the fastest method). On top of that, it does take time to lvl up construction, more than you would think (because the bank is not right next door). Skills which come close and some argue are harder but to which I dissagree Agility - It's simple to lvl up and does not require a lot of equipment. Slayer does and thus slayer beat it. It does however get very old, very fast when lvling. Runecrafting - tough, this skill comes extremely close to slayer. It has harsh exp rates and power methods require lots and lots of cash. However, I have a harder time lvling up slayer rather than runecrafting. I don't think it's as hard, but I understand people who argue that it is. I guess the edge that makes slayer harder is the fact that you can only raise slayer by doing tasks but for runecrafting you can decide to make cash by rcing and have the pleasant surprise of lvling up. Herblore - the only thing hard about herblore is getting the materials, which is a one time thing. If you have it banked the exp rates can be quite easy. Farming - Agreed that it's on the upper end, but the reason I dissagree for this one is that there is less effort needed. Slayer and Runecrafting require a ton of patience as well and more effort. Prayer - Using bones? possibly. Using ecto? Probably not. Using gilded alter? Absolutely not. The exp rates now are very generous, leaves only the cost as a possible argument for prayer being hard. And at that point it is largely beaten by Construction which costs a hell of a lot more edit: I replied to the question, which is the hardest skill of all skills? But I guess that's ok edit: and I forgot to mention how it's hard to compare slayer to farming because one is buyable the other one isn't. -
Three reasons why this has yet to be proven First of all, for people ignorant of probability, you need to do the trials about 400 possibly even 1000 times. (the more it gets the more accurate the results are) 10 trials doesn't account for anything Second of all, people tend to complain about being beaten by a low lvl miner and always report this. However they rarely report the times when the odds worked in their favor because that's what they expect Third of all, the connection influences very much the outcome. I have had the mine dissapear before I even strike it (Because I had more lag). Most of the people complaining don't pay attention to this exterior factor enough

Question: Least-Admirable Skill Cape
Solidus_77 replied to Lunar_Drifter's topic in General Discussion
When considering skills which can be bought, the time it takes to gather the materials is also a factor. That time also varies from person to person (and even day by day, like if the person just got lucky). Might be best to seperate the two.
