Which Skill Takes The Most Gold To Actually Buy Outright
Solidus_77 replied to Phyrexial's topic in General Discussion
But using the goldsmith gauntlets, it's a 40% return. So it's only 60 mill. What is the total amount (so minus the return) for steel bars? Very little time spend is acctually spent farming. There's a huge difference in effort. I don't think the waiting timeshould be counted, because you could basically do whatever you want during that time, even covering your losses in farming. Then there's the random dieing of trees screwing up the amount needed. That's going to make it tricky to find out how many tree seeds are needed. Do we assume that none die? is there an average? so basically you're saying is that the random factor causes farming to be more expensive? That statement isn't really mathematically correct, but if that is what you mean then where do we draw the line to determine the exact cost of farming? -

Which Skill Takes The Most Gold To Actually Buy Outright

Of course I'm biased when I want to promote construction as the absolute #1. But I ask to compare most efficient skill to most efficient skill. That's pretty fair don't you think. And efficient =/= fast. if a method takes twice a long but only costs 25% less, the slower method is more efficient And just because one sells more than the other doesn't mean that it's the most efficient method. There are more steel bars being sold simply because they are easier to get. That alone proves nothing about what is a more efficient method. It does, however, indicate that it's harder to buy gold. But by no means impossible anymore. Finally, I said I don't think your method is the most efficient, but that doesn't mean that I think herbs are more efficient. As I said before, it's probably a fast method but that doesn't mean it's the most efficient. -
respawning or teleporting...... can't decide

I dp appoligize for that, I don't know how I missed it. :? Sounds to me you're simply jealous of everyone now being able to get the 99s that you got much easier than you did. Tough luck, this game introduces shortcuts like that every now and then. The true fool is the one who doesn't use the fastest methods. -

Which Skill Takes The Most Gold To Actually Buy Outright
Solidus_77 replied to Phyrexial's topic in General Discussion
if you buy oak planks, it only takes 97m from 33 to 99 construction+ about 10m to pay the servant, farming certainly takes more, smithing with steel bars takes 140m, so construction is not the most expencive skill, like alot of people believe. Acctually it is if you compare most efficient method to most efficient method steel bars is NOT the most efficient method for smithing. The most efficient is gold ores. Now not only is that clearly less but you are also forgetting that smithing, unlike construction, has a return on the investment. So even if you need the 100 mill (I htink that's what you'd need) to acctually buy all the gold ores, you will get 40 mill back. So technically you need the means to buy 100 mill and you need to spend only 60 mill. as for farming? Why would farming be more expensive? It doesn't strike me as too costy, unless obviously you use an innefficient method. What is the most efficient method and what does it cost? Also, for the ridiculous examples, construction using magic stones, is the most expensive and beats all the other silly methods. doing smithing with steel bars IS the most efficent method. Steel bars is 77 xp/h, though gold ores is less than 44k xp/h, so its 3/4 slower... as someone said, you could use clay for ct, would cheaper but its ridiculous. And if you think steel bars is not reasnoble, most people with 99 smithing used that method. and farming- 13.7k xp per magic tree, 180-200k per seed. There are alot of different ways for farming, but the fastest and only normal way is using watermelon seeds, magic trees and palm trees, and all of those components cost alot. Youll also have to consider the fact some of the plants die, making you lose even more mills. And if someone is going to mention going for 99 farming with harbs, then dont. herbs give louzy experiance and it would take years. It's using goldsmithing gauntlets which makes it faster and doubling the exp. It's the most efficient and costs a lot less. The people who used steel bars eithe did it before it was possible to buy gold ores in bulk or jus assumed it was better to do it with steel bars. From what you are telling me about farming, it seems to be a faster but not efficient method. I'm looking for the efficient method to compare to construction. Otherwise, the fastest (and completely unreasonably pricy way) to lvl up construction is magic stones, which is just silly. So, once again, only compare most efficient to most efficient. -

problem is, what if you spend points on hp? -
agreed there. I loved the feeling of endless possibility and the whole making stuff from scratch ideas. Those simply don't exist as much anymore

Weekly Poll: Which operating system do you use?
Solidus_77 replied to Kiara_Kat's topic in General Discussion
vista. hey, it's the default on my laptop. And I'm not going out of my way to get an older version when this one works fine -
the top 3 First place: The day I hit 99 construction, my first skillcape, my first fantastic achievment. I felt so good about myself Second place: The day I got 91 rc. Reaching the dream sought after by all runecrafters. The timing of this made it even more epic Third place: I won a costume contest at my clan's party. Lots of people, the clan's organization skills are top notch. Funny thing is, I didn't even know there was a contest untill I heard them round up people. Furthermore this convinced me to stay in the clan. moral is: naval top and bottom is hawt.

Didn't know things changed regarding that - gold ore wasn't easy to get in bulk a year or perhaps two back, but I see that it is now. Seems gold ore is the way to go now indeed, making smithing quite a bit cheaper then what it used to cost. Yeah that's right, I remember, steel bars was the way to go. Would be interesting to find out when the switch happened and why, dou you have records of gold ores prices by any chance? -

Obviously construction But there is a return on your investment so it's technically not 120 mill (although the means to obtain 120 mill are still required) Construction costs 120 mill the most efficient way, and there is no return. edit: Useing the most efficient method for skills. That would be gold bars with goldsmith gauntlets, cheaper and better exp than steel bars. I was wondering; 120 mill seemed a little high. -
75% of nat crafters going on strike is just unrealistic but let's say they do. And let's say prices of nats rise to 600 each. Who would be insane enough to not go make nats at that price? the price would never go so high because people would make more nats if the prices rose. "Invisible hand". We are the ones in control of the price of nats, yet our actions are predictable and to some extent we are not especially in a perfect competition system that is runescape. That's why it's said to be the "invisible hand" that controls prices Of course I wouldn't mind if all the other foolish nat crafters went on strike.... 2 mill per hour!? in your face merchant! :P

Biggest missconception in my opinion is "X skill is easy because it's buyable" First of all, if this was AT ALL the case, Construction would not be one of the rarest capes, so this already shows that it's not so easy after all to "just get the money". Sure some people have gotten it buy just selling a rare that they had in the bank since they were dropped. But does that mean the years and years spent waiting for the rare to mature don't count? It's not like everyone has the means to do so. Second, usually people omit the time it takes to get the cash and then conclude that getting 99 in the skill only takes a relatively short ammount of time. But getting the cash is the challenge and it's a rather different challenge, because different people have different ways of getting cash. So a buyable skillcape will take weeks for some and years for others. Third, money helps differently in different skills. If you define "buyable skill" as one for which you can buy the raw materials, then runecrafting is a buyable skill. Furthermore, there are ways to speed up slayer that require money like buying a cannon or all the extremely usefull armor, so is slayer a buyable skill? Even agility can be speeded up if you buy a ton of super energy pots. In conclusion, people seem to have this illusion that getting millions upon millions is some kind of easy task that can be accomplished in the blink of an eye and thus doesn't count as part of getting the skillcape and people seem to only think of "buyable skills" as "expensive skills". However there is more to it than that, just the fact that the skill can be bought is only one of the factors that makes it difficult to obtain. The return is also just as important: This is the reason why smithing isn't as hard as it may seem: because you get a certain %age of your investment back. This means that, although you need the means to get a lot of cash and buy the materials, you will not entirely lose all of it making it cheaper and thus easier. This is not the case, however, for prayer or construction, which are the two most expensive skills (both over 100 mill, assuming you use the fastest method) because you will get no return.

wait 5 minutes... with a team of 10+ 120+ beating you, and when you hurt one of them they switch so your fighting another. The mage bank was never safe, it was always a solo pkers best bet for a good fight, and a lot of people died there, it took skill to pk there, knowing when to spec, when to eat, when to run.. now its when to tag, when to pray and when to teleblock. Its become a tag teaming loser hotspot and multi combat wilderness is deserted becouse its more profitable to pk in single area with teleblock. and how was this any different before? Basically, what is happening now that couldn't happen before the TB update?
