If power consumption is a concern, you will want to go with an LCD or rear-projection model. Here's an article on CNET concerning power consumption.
  2. You can always try to be ahead of the game. I believe Torstol is the highest crop in the game @ level 85. That's pretty low and I'd expect a few more high-level farming things eventually.
  3. I had pineapple plants for a while, but I decided I needed coconuts more and now that's what I have. You fill vials with coconut milk for herblore (or selling) and then still use the empty coconuts for supercomposting. Sweet.
  4. Pineapples are free for the picking in Brimhaven (bank in Shilo) or store-bought in several places. Watermelons are better sold to people making summer pies.
  5. This topic got me to thinking... I have been in heavy woodcut mode all week, and I haven't seen an ent since the update. I can't decide whether Jagex has already turned them off or rather that real players just don't set off the trigger...
  6. I have no plans to leave. I approve 100% of the intent of the update. I have some quibbles with the fine print, but I expect Jagex will do some fine tuning in the next few weeks. ===== I was chopping mages just now, and someone from the Pink Brigade was there, taking a break from the protests. He assured me that "everyone was quitting." I asked him, "Everyone, or just everyone at the protest? Because all the people I have been around say they like the updates and wouldn't dream of quitting." I asked him, "So if you are quitting, why do you need logs?" He never answered. :? There is a bit of a mob mentality right now; the people who are all hanging around protesting are swearing they are gonna quit. And for everyone I am hanging around with, it's pretty much virtual life as usual. Except for the lack of botters. Strange dichotomy, this is.
  7. Here is my method, which uses Karamja gloves and Shilo banking.
  8. +1 Jagex has decided what their target customer is and what that customer isn't. Riots and boycotts may lend some sense of community amongst the disappointed, but in the end Jagex has weighed it all and chosen what they want to do. The Runescape userbase has had years to police itself. If there was no demand for RWT, bots and farmers would not exist. They were in the game because enough players with compromised ethics chose to pay for their levels with real world cash, be it with daddy's phone bill, a stolen credit card or legitimate methods of payment. The Runescape userbase failed miserably at policing itself, and now the clampdown is on. I read through the forums yesterday. Fully half of the posts were cut & pastes of finger-pointing ASCII art, that poem about the cup of choco, a slogan stating "We Pay... We PK" and another post that ended "WHY AM I NOT SURPRISED" It was different people cutting & pasting the same thing over and over and over again... Sure, Jagex might pull the plug on half their servers tomorrow... but that's what they are choosing for their game. Your only choice in the matter is whether you will stay and play or not. As for me, I will still be there. While I disapprove with the letter of some of the recent changes, I agree with their intent 100%. The frontier days of Runescape are over. Sink, swim or get out of the pool.
  9. That's quite a steaming pile Jagex just dropped... :-X Actually, it's not all bad IMO. Throwing F2P a bone with the Duel Arena was a nice gesture. Throwing us *all* a bone with more bank space is shrewd; like putting sugar in the medicine. But there are aspects of the unbalanced trade changes that I don't care for. As I read it, I can no longer charge any appreciable amount to craft furies for people - because that will be unbalanced. Boooo Hissss. The New Wild will scramble all Trails that lead you up there. I do wonder if it won't have the long-term effect of driving up Trail items prices. Seems like geocaching in the wild is a lot more risky now. :-k Much to digest today...
  10. The Kingdom could use a makeover. Perhaps they could discover some new veins of ore (addy, mith, rune, gold, silver) instead of just coal. Or some different types of fish. Maybe even a plain cash return - as if your subjects took the goods to market themselves and saved you a percentage of the cash.
  11. No, what you have is items no one wants to buy. It doesn't necessarily mean the mechanism is screwed up.
  12. Everybody and his brother has started making iron knives to break even at smithing. How is it the fault of the GE that there is now more supply than demand? Some blame should be placed on all the lemmings who have been making iron knives in the first place. Iron ore is dirt-cheap in the exchange right now - 71-79 range. People can get 100% smelting either at the blast furnace or with rings of forging. 79 / 5 = 16 each, my friend. At 32, good smiths are still doubling their money. But the introduction of cheap bone bolts has more to do with the fall of the iron knife than the GE does. When all is said and done, the GE can't create demand. I seem to remember similar amounts of whinging back when rune 2Hs fell from million dollar items to common weapons... the sky didn't fall then and it's not falling now.
  13. Since you used a clan as an example... Why wouldn't one clan member buy up all the logs, then hand them to another clan member to flip them, thusly defeating the purpose of the "freeze"...
  14. They are available throught the Grand Exchange for 34-38 gp presently. Jogres also drop them occasionally. Or you could always go do the Tai Bwo Wannai cleanup minigame.
  15. That quiz is on a satire site, true. But I went to school with people who believed you could not celebrate Christmas or Easter as religious holidays - because there are no New Testament examples of it. Now Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny - they had no problem with. But try to have a Christmas or Easter program during services and it was Church Lady time. Could it be... SATAN
  16. Yet another fun time-waster from the folks at Landover Baptist. Take the Yuletide Quiz! I got 2 of 6. Glory!
  17. That's unintentionally funny. The GE is great for raw materials. I love being able to order up ores and bars whilst I chop wood. And the recent [bleep]es in yew and mage logs prices are a woodchopper's dream. The GE is lousy for finished goods, though. What to do with all those iron plates, green dhide sets and gold amulets? Sell on the GE? Har. The GE cannot create demand where there is none. But there is still the intrinsic value of these items - aka the high alchemy value. All it takes is a few nats and a fire staff and it's still payday. =D> EDIT - For example, right now addy plates are 9984 in the GE, as many as you can afford. Guess what? That's the high alch price. Guess what? I can now power train magic at the GE for only the cost of nats. Ahh, what an opportunity. :D END EDIT EDIT 2 - OMG I just realized thats not what the high alch price used to be. It was 7680 previously...?!?!? END EDIT 2 I tried putting some of my potion stock up there and have not seen a price for anything that I would accept. I will use my pots myself rather than dump them on the GE for next-to-nothing. I wouldn't call the current situation a crash - the goods do have the same intrinsic value they always had.
  18. Yes, of course... only Americans buy rs gold with money. -2 for you
  19. This is a reason why Jagex came out with the Assist system :-w ... Unless of course they made it so you can't use farming with it :-k Also, would anyone mind helping me plant my 2 spirit seeds .. If you can PM me on Tip.It  , my p chat is always on friends Straight from the kBase:
  20. Mahogany/Teak is worth a look also, if you are interested in merching planks in the GE.
  21. My 13K willow logs finally sold @ 22 each.
  22. I hope the epitaphs are customizable...
  23. I always fill up on bars before I teleport out of a metal dragon lair. I always seem to have space, but maybe that's because I high alch a lot of the loot on the spot.
  24. Simply change it so that you must wield your axe in order to woodcut. This adds a combat component to the woodcut equation and solves the problem of banned botters creating new accounts and instantly coming back. It also makes low level woodcutting bots less profitable. If you go to cut yews with a bronze axe, your rate of return is much less than if you use rune. It is patently ridiculous to allow access to the best tools woodcutting has to offer as soon as you step off the boat from Tutorial Island (EDIT - Yes, I realize that the dragon axe is arguably the best. But as for widespread use, the rune axe is king.) If you are level-3, then you should be forced to use a bronze axe to do your woodcutting. I don't claim to be the person who came up with this idea, but it is a good one and deserves consideration.
