Like 800x600 resolution with everything on low on most games should give about 20 fps (around there). It's not a gaming card, i think it's more for htpc.- Computer upgrade ~AMD or Intel~
Why did you get that card? It's old! It performs pretty ok, but there's newer cards that'll perform the same that are less power-hungry and produces less heat.- Upgrading PC (For GTA IV)
Yes, but i can't recommend anything else since he'd then need a new cpu also. But it depends on what settings people play on too. I am sure that if people turn down their settings a little bit for this game, it'd run smoother. But i know what you're talking about, in another hardware forum, there are similar disscussions about gta4.- Upgrading PC (For GTA IV)
1gb dual core? Do you mean dual channel (like 512+512)? I'd recommend 2gb ram. HD4670 512MB - 72£ (inc.vat), There's some other card a bit cheaper, but they don't perform well. This really is most price/performance. 9500gt is a bit cheaper, but it doesn't perform well (i have a 8600gt overclocked which performs about the same as the 9500gt, playing games at 1024x768 on medium to get a decent frame rate, which isn't fun). I'm asking about pci-e, because i don't know if they made your card in agp also. Download cpu-z - http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php , open up and check "mainboard" and you'll see "graphics interface", check what it says on "version". Then go to "spd", and you'll have two or more slots there, see if they are all busy or if there's one available (no info on one slot)... Just in case you don't know.- Computer upgrade ~AMD or Intel~
Nice. What did you pay for the 8800gts (used i presume?), and also is it the 320, 512 or 640mb version?- Upgrading PC (For GTA IV)
Amount of ram (and ddr or ddr2)? Your graphics card is the one that'll bottleneck the most (but also the cpu). Btw, your card is pci-e, right? Dunno your budget, but this card would be the most price/performance (you need a better cpu if you want faster cards): Radeon HD 4670 512MB - 70$ after rebate (dunno where you live)- The Ultimate Question - Boxers or Briefs
Had boxers since i was 10 or something, very comfortable. Thong on girls if they have a nice butt =) (but nothing i really care about)- Weekly Poll: What web browser do you use?
Opera since 2005 or something. Works great.- some people are just [cabbage]
I'm gonna bump this post, because if i hadn't changed world i'd started swearing like hell and got myself banned. I met the most amazing douchebag for a long time a couple of mins ago. I'm doing my slayer task (kalphites, at the lvl 85 ones). Two guys logs in, one lvl 126 and one 136. The 126 changes world. But the other one stays, and i think "ok, half each". But nonono, no 50/50. He attacks one, and i attack another one... And he comes running attack the one i'm fighting! And this continues for a couple of minutes (i managed to not swear). Then he attacks 3 simultaneously while i manage to attack the 4th one, what happens? He attacks mine! I start saying "please attack your own ones" and so on, but he doesn't. I end up saying "stop acting like a noob, kid"... Still no reply from that fool. I thought that atleast 130s+ would be more mature and not act like this. But i am (this is not the first time i've encountred people like this) proven wrong once again. I changed world, because if i'd stayed i would just have started swearing like no other. Edit: I see. Then i can say that i dislike your playing style. I guess this is one of the reasons why i don't play much anymore.- monitors
You need to create a topic for this? If you don't like tft's, choose the crt? Or get used to tft.- Question about a new phone
Oh, crap no. I recommend any of the Nokia N series. Ericsson may look good, but they are really low quality. I have seen cases in which a trip through the washer actually improved a phone by Nokia. No. They aren't low quality. I've had my Sony Ericsson since 2004, dropped it in concreate.. tarmac.. youghurt.. Still works! All my family has a SE phone, and none of them have broken. And alot of my friends got one too, and none of them have gone kaputt. My brother works in a mobile-phone shop, and i've never heard him go "SE is crap!". ...Says the bloke living in Sweden. Anyone from Germany around here? Yes, so what? If your claim had support i'd agree with you. But it doesn't. Maybe series x by manufacturer x is bad, but you can't just say their phones are crap.- Overclocking
I must agree, I don't really see a point in overcloking the Pentium. I have seen them at 3.4 - 4ghz, so it's possible, yes. A custom fan (including using a new thermal paste, such as artic silver 5) would make the tempratures drop 5-10C (more or less). But i personally wouldn't invest in a fan for this socket, unless it's also compatible with 775 or AM2/+. Some good programs: Core Temp, accurate readings and logging possibilities: http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/ CPU-Z, displays information about your cpu and ram: http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php Memtest86+, if you think there's something wrong with ram: http://www.memtest.org/#downiso Orthos, to test if your clock is stable on the cpu (and memories, depending on what test you run). 8h is atleast recommended, it will usually prove (if a problem haven't occured) that the clock is stable, some run it for 24h for more assurance: http://sp2004.fre3.com/beta/beta2.htm (there's also Prime95 - http://www.wprime.net/ , 2 other stress testing programs) I'm not going to write a guide (because that would mean i need to translate a 4000 word swedish guide) but here's some links on overclocking: Beginner - http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showth ... t=17612922 (C2D/Q) - http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/240 ... uals-guide The principals are the same, but maybe if you search for "guide overclocking pentium d" or something you might find a more streamlined guide on how-to. EDIT: @JoeDaStudd - It's often recommended you go 5-50mhz per overclock and then run a stress test (checking temps will show you the temp, not if the clock is stable or not). I'm not sure if i'd recommend changing the voltage on this hardware, as it gets hot extremely quickly and even more quickly with an old Pentium.- Runescape HD
It's a laptop, so he can't change the gpu. But I wasn't suggesting he change the GPU. I realize it's soldered to the mobo. But there is a chance he has an empty MXM slot (ref: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Upgrade-Replace-a-Notebook-Video-Card.3236.0.html. Yes true. But MXM isn't widely used, only very few got it (unfortunately). He could search his laptop model and see if it has or call the support. But i doubt it. It's a good computer otherwise, if it would have a decent gpu on it, it would be a pretty good laptop for gaming.- DVD converter software. (now with moar legalz!!)
I was planning on posting a answer, but i didn't. Since i don't think this is within the rules on this board (and copyright laws in general). And i don't understand why you can't search the web.- Runescape HD
It's a laptop, so he can't change the gpu.- This computer...
DVD: Yes, i can play games with it too. But it's (was) an entry-level gaming card (8600gt). And yes, your cpu is whats making it lag for you. Killer: Is this a HP computer (because i know they use that gpu for some of their builds)? 300$ is an ok price. You can get more performance for the same price if you like to build yourself tho. But i'd consider buying atleast something like 8400gs or HD3450 (or a card from one other series that i've mentioned) (goes for about 30-40$) to play lag-free on RSHD (with full settings).- What do you want for christmas/hanukkah?
Why don't you build one yourself? Or even pay a computer shop to put it together for you, you'd still save money. Anyways, maybe Mein Kampf in addition to the psu i wish for.- Hard Dance Music Help
Crisis? Never heard that song... Which DJ/Group is behind it? Goa is psychedelic music (often played at rave-parties), listen to a couple of songs of one of the groups i mentioned and i think you'll understand.- Hard Dance Music Help
Yes, those are songs from Infected Mushroom. Goa! =) Don't know any "essential" albums. But you can check out the "trancemaster" albums, they are very good! Hard Dance Mania... Don't think it's your sort, they are more for pre-18 people (at least in my opinion)... But there's some good songs on them. Airbase is something i'd recommend, very good trance/techno music... There's probably some "best of" you could buy. I'm more into drum n bass... (name dropping) Pendulum, Lost Generation, DJ Alien, Vortex Involute, Mav, Sub Focus, DJ Fresh, Logistics and Future Prophecies (to name a few). Some goa; Astral Projection, Infected Mushroom (duh), Super Skunk, Chi-AD, MFG, Zabra and California Sunshine. It's usually best to buy some double-cd albums with alot of different groups... Because it's usually the "better" songs that are put there.- This computer...
That computer will run 'RS HD', but you won't get much hardware acceleration. I recommend upgrading the video card to at least an "NVidia GeForce 7300 GT", which is what I'm using here... Also, it needs to have at least 512MB of RAM on it, if you wish to have a nice resolution and anti-aliasing level... :geek: Good luck to you, Killerred005... 8-) ~D. V. "I like RS HD and smooth graphics..." Devnull 512mb is not necessary for RS if you use 20" screens and under. I'm on a 256mb card on 1440x900... Runs with no problem, altho it's a newer card than these. Dunno how the 6150 performs, but i would think a bit more powerfull would be usefull... Something lower-end of the Nvidia 7-8-9 series or ATI 2-3-4 series if an upgrade is possible.- Question about a new phone

Yes, a desktop will always be the most price/performance. You could build a computer for about 400$ (which would own mine lol)... AMD X2+4670 (don't need C2 since such a card would be the bottleneck until you get to something like 4870), something like that would be able to play most games on high settings for very few dollars. Depends if he really needs a laptop or not.- Your favorite sayings?
"I do not know which weapons WW3 will be fought with. But I do know that WW4 will be fought with sticks and stones" @Albert Einstein.- What do you want for christmas/hanukkah?
