Lawrence of Arabia for the billionth time and it still doesn't get old. I can never get over how awesome Peter O'Toole's acting is.

I was curious as to what the hell this even was, so I Googled it. This might be the most unflattering facial expression (ignore the fact that the entire pic is photoshopped) I've seen for a TV character's bio... LINKY

Wildy/Trade - Expect news on Monday (official)
Range_This11 replied to @Dan3HitU's topic in General Discussion
I think we'll see it sooner than we may think. They did not come into this petition/poll blind and unprepared. They knew that the players were going to respond positively to bringing the wilderness and free trade back. They've probably got a solid head start on getting the code into the game. -
I had one cup of yogurt and one slice of peanut butter toast. Now I'm ready for class.

All in good fun, I wanted an excuse to use size 7 font hahaha.
-
Maybe I need a bigger font.... I said anti-establishment not anti-government there is a huge difference between the two. No pun intended.

That doesn't exactly work though, does it? How many corporations, particularly the huge media companies that have a vested interest in the internet, actually care about what their customers want? They tell us what we want and people buy into it. I'm not saying all are bad, I'm just saying that I wouldn't touch any form of method that corporations, or the Government, could use to identify me online to me IRL with a ten foot bargepole. If you're so stupid that you can't remember your password then you need to get off the internet, to be very frank. I can understand why having many passwords can get confusing (I know that when trying to log into old accounts on stuff, I struggle to remember which password I was using back then) but that's what password recovery is for. Also, most average people only have ONE password. They don't need this system. The Government and corporations are STILL scared of the internet and they're going to keep trying time and again to force restrictions on it because that's the only thing they know how to do. Whoah, look at Racheya getting all anti-establishment on us! ;) I definitely agree with what you said, I have a natural mistrust for corporations as well...especially when it comes to the internet.

I posted this on the Wilderness/Free Trade topic, but it got eaten by pages of off-topic posts so I will re-post since it is more applicable to this topic. I think they did the absolute right thing. They put a petition out to see if this was actually worth voting on, how else would they have known? Now we've all voted and it is quite clear from both the petition and vote that the community wants the 2007 changes reversed. Edit: And to those that are griping about it being a PR move...I don't understand this. We have known for years that Jagex is a company that relies on revenues to keep this game and their other projects afloat. All of a sudden it's not okay for them to make money?
-
No, no I'm not saying it will directly harm anyone, I am just a little leery of government intervention of the internet. Yes I know it may be unwarranted paranoia, but I feel like once they get their foot in the door it makes it much easier for them to implement more imposing legislation.
-
It might be handy but why put something this huge through just so people don't have to remember a password? We already have features that help us remember passwords as stated above. No, this is about something much bigger and the more I read about it the more I am starting to dislike it.

I bought Bandos when it was 25m for the set quite a long time ago. I'm not too concerned about it crashing because I doubt I'll ever sell it. I still have my Guthan's set I paid 17m for at it's peak haha. -

Yay another boss I'll probably never get around to killing! -
As long is there is always the option of anonymity, I am fine with this. If you all want to get internet ID's, then be my guest, but I prefer to browse with freedom.

If you're really lazy, you could go here. Maybe he'll sell you one individually.

While this is true, I don't think it has to do with race entirely. I think our cultural interests play a much bigger role in where we choose to live. I cannot speak on the division of races within a densely populated area, but I can speak from experience about the extremely unbalanced amount of Caucasians in rural communities compared to cities. Small, midwestern farming communities (like the one I grew up in) have a very high rate of retaining members of their community from birth until death. In other words, many of the people that grew up in these small communities will stay there for their entire lives. True, some will move out, but many stay (or at least stay in the area). This only makes the community more tight-knit and closed off. I have seen this time and time again. Historically, these communities are Caucasian-dominated, but is that because of segregation? Sure, you could say that we are segregating ourselves, but I see it differently. I have seen African-American families move in my community and move out within five years. Is this because they were discriminated against? Probably not. It's more likely that they have dissimilar cultural interests. As a community, we enjoy sitting around, drinking a lot of beer, discussing farms/4-wheelers/snowmobiles/the Packers, and hunting. If you ask me, none of those activities sound extremely appealing to African-Americans, they seem more appealing to rural white people.

Wilderness and free trade vote! - Now Closed
Range_This11 replied to Jimmyw3000's topic in General Discussion
I agree with this completely. Years ago, it was easy to get scammed (think guthan's spear trade trick) but now there are plenty of safeguards in the game so if you get scammed it is your own fault for not paying close enough attention. I would venture to say those of us that started this game when we were younger have gotten scammed at least once, I know I have. "Lesson learned" is exactly what happened. I'm not permanently scarred because I lost 2k bow strings and 2k yew logs to a wilderness lure and anyone who would be has problems much deeper than Runescape itself. Thanks to that experience I am much more savvy to scamming and know how to avoid it. -
I saw True Grit last night and I thought it was great. Sure, it wasn't amazing filmmaking and you can't take anything really profound away from it, but it didn't really try to do either of those. It entertained and I thought both Jeff Bridges and Matt Damon were hilarious. I laughed the whole way through.

I think there are any number of reasons why a given country may have lower crime rates, not just one. Killing is never the answer, so I do not support the death penalty in any form.

What would the world be like without the United States?
Range_This11 replied to DragnFly's topic in Off-Topic
Are you really trying to say that a revolution against France's oldest enemy in a colony (a colony rebelling was a big deal) where France's military assisted went relatively unnoticed by anyone outside government officials? Get real. Also, I said "perhaps" they took "some" inspiration. I didn't say they would not have accomplished what they did without the American Revolution. -

No. See, this is the crap they teach in American schools. (I'm guessing you second-heard this from someone, or Canadian schools follow with American propoganda XD) If any revolution changed the way Europeans thought it was the French. The American was just too far away for anyone but the English (just the politicans mind you) to give a damn. And yet... Would the French have had the same revolution if they had not seen the American Revolution first? No doubt, Louis and Marie would have met the same unpleasantries, but would it just be another Monarch who took their place or a true transformation in the way that the nation is governed? More biased American history. Yes they would. A revolt against an colonial governor six thousand miles from the throne is child's play compared to a revolt against the king on his throne. It was a powder keg ready to explode eventually. If not in 1789, then 1794 or 1799. It would of happened shortly later. Exactly this - from my understanding of the French revolution the majority of the the participants from the lower classes knew next to nothing about the american revolution. The French were our biggest ally in the American Revolution, so perhaps they took some inspiration that yes, this can be done, but to say they got the idea from Americans? Yeah right. -
Game crashed for me at Frost Dragons yesterday. I have definitely been noticing more lag and black/white screens that lead to crashes lately.

There are plenty of us that have considered these things before and while they are enlightening, shoving them down someone's throat is not the way to get them to understand. You're only going to piss them off if the first thing you tell them is how wrong they are. It's in our nature to be defensive towards our beliefs because by nature we are all slightly egotistical. Plant the seed and let others discover it for themselves. It's more fun when you have an "Ah-ha!" moment on your own than if someone tells you what to believe
