  1. That's a clever idea. So clever, in fact, that they'll never do it. ;) I'd settle for something less idiotic than the current system. Which is basically "1 item to start, and then 2 items from when you actually understand the skill enough to train it, until basically forever for most players".
  2. There have been some very involved debates about the skill/minigame issue, even right here on this forum. Compared to them, that article struck me as oversimplified and far from convincing.
  3. Sure sounds like you are. Why don't you explain yourself better?
  4. qeltar replied to My_Eggs's topic in Rants
Never do group activities with people you don't know. If it makes you feel better, most high level players feel the promy spear is better than the primal maul anyway, and I'm sure you can find someone here to make you another plate...
  5. So you're mad at Jagex for making a product good enough that you want to pay for it? This is one of the silliest rants I've read in a long time -- and when it comes to RuneScape, that's saying something.
  6. It's very common to play a whole level and never see a mastyx worth hunting for its hides.
  7. Much of the nifty new gear they put in Dungeoneering is also going to waste because of the thoughtless binding system. Yesterday when playing with two others I got a primal plateskirt. Okay, it looks neat, but what am I going to do with it? It's cool but has half the stats of a promethium platebody, and I need my weapon. So it goes to waste. Same with most of the other primal drops and a lot of the other fancy stuff. I like maging but if I want to do it I have to either do it with no gear or waste time on every floor making robes and a staff. It's usually not worth it: when I solo a floor takes 20 minutes, and in groups everyone is in a big hurry. Who is ever going to use a guardian ward or absorption boots or a fireburst defender for more than 15 minutes?
  8. Maging is necessary for the higher level warriors and is useful for a couple of bosses, but that's about it. Still, at least with a high spell and a good staff you can do some serious damage. The problem with ranging is that they beefed up all the melee weapon strengths and the ranged bow accuracies, but not the ranged strengths. Promethium arrows are weaker than iron bolts -- who thought that one up? It doesn't really matter if ranging is slightly more accurate than meleeing when the damage is less than half. This really needs fixing.
  9. Sorry, but this is a load of simplistic crap. You're spouting platitudes and theories and you have no real world experience to back it up. You also sound like you're under the influence of religious brainwashing. I've been married almost as long as you've been breathing. And yes, it does take commitment and working through difficult patches. But that is only possible when there is at least some basis for the relationship continuing. It is *not* always possible for that to happen, especially when one person changes radically. Many couples get divorced because one person becomes very different over time from what they were when they tied the knot. And some do because they never should have been married in the first place. I know someone who did exactly that -- married someone he never should have. I knew it at the time, but he didn't. He made a mistake, and so did she. Why the hell should they have to spend the rest of their lives suffering from it? In case you hadn't noticed, most people get married when they are young -- often VERY young. Our "society" has decided that at 18 you are too young to be trusted with the responsibility of drinking a beer, but you are old enough to make a decision that impacts the rest of your life. There are few people who are at 40 what they are at 20. And the idea of forcing someone to live for 50+ with a bad decision they made as a teenager or young adult is beyond idiotic: it is sadistic. Even a second degree murderer gets paroled at some point.
  10. Simplistic. Are you married by any chance? The idea that nobody should do anything unless they are willing to commit themselves to it for life is absurd. While marriage shouldn't be taken lightly, neither should it be a life sentence. You can point to lots and lots of misery and suffering, sure.
  11. The real world isn't this cut and dried. Relationships can and do fail despite both partners making an effort. People also change, and sometimes they drift apart. This is pretty much a "white lie" and everyone knows it. There are very few people who have no circumstances other than death under which they wouldn't leave a spouse. And that's as it should be. You only get one shot at life, and spending it in a failed marriage is a waste. It's better to be honest than to fool oneself.
  12. I'm almost certain that it does not depend on how fast you do rounds. I've had some "goof around" small maps where I took over an hour and got the expected XP.

  14. "If you really loved me, you'd be willing to sign this". "If *you* really loved *me*, you wouldn't ask me to sign it". Sums it up for me. That said, there are special cases where it may well make sense, such as remarriages with children, etc.

Fishing familiars are definitely worth using. They are cheap to make, speed up fishing and forage fish as well.
  16. Got a source for these figures, or just engaging in a bit of recreational America-bashing? There's plenty to bash, mind you, but it's nice if you're going to complain about statistical inaccuracies to have facts to back it up. Because those sound like utter [cabbage] to me.
  17. Did you picture them in the Harry Potter train? Lol, it's cute seeing Englishmen talking about long distances in their own country. 300 miles max. is not far! If I played more RuneScape and lived on the same continent I might go. 300 miles max? Typical American knowing nothing. Its over 400miles (just) from london to Glasgow. London isnt even as far south as u can go and glasgow is a 200miles off the northern most reaches. Yes, but here those are considered piddling day car trip distances. There are people here who live 300 miles from the Atlantic and still call themselves "East Coasters". ;) UK: 61 MM people in 244 k km^2 US: 309 MM people in 9,630 km^2 5 times the population, 40 times the size. It makes a difference. As for the event itself, I guarantee they'll have no trouble filling it.

  19. Never mind price manipulation. They should forbid nuclear war.
  20. There's really no need to futz around with magic on this guy. He's one of the easiest bosses -- just slap on Turmoil, brute force him with a spear on stab, and eat to heal. Goes down in a minute with food to spare. Combat familiar helps.
  21. It was just one that stuck in my mind. I haven't tested this thoroughly. But I definitely have much better luck with a crappy hatchet than a crappy pickaxe.
  22. I'm assuming this is one of those silly automated site value calculators. They usually work just by looking at Alexa and other traffic ranking sites, then pulling a number out of their electronic [wagon]. The figures are worse than meaningless.
  23. If you think weapons have different characteristics in Dungeoneering, take a look at armor. Primal platelegs (m) + 182 Stab, + 158 Slash, + 87 Crush Primal plateskirt (m) + 109 Stab, + 123 Slash, + 199 Crush
  24. I recently got 6 sets of branches from an entgallow tree using some POS hatchet, so I don't think so. This is convenient, but I think it would be better if it worked the same as Mining. (Though the "you crush the useful ore" message is idiotic, given what ore is and how it is smelted!)
