  1. Why the dislike for Vista? I mean you can downgrade if you want, doesn't really mater... but why does it?
  2. ahh, see it dont bother me when i know your trying to be a [bleep] Haha yeah it does.
  3. If you're doing what I think you're doing, hehe -- good one ;p. Anyways it doesn't really matter if someone, who doesn't listen to your genre, can't actually say what it is. I mean, I don't expect someone to know that Burzum and Darkthrone are black metal, and dream theater is more of prog metal. I mean most people probably haven't even heard of those bands. Its like asking me the various genres of rap or something. I don't really know the sub genres of it. Now it does get me when someone who is supposedly a 'big fan' of said band and doesn't have a clue what genre they are. Thats about it though. As far as rock goes, can't there or isn't there kind of a "pop rock" like there is pop punk? I would think something like 'the police' would be a pop rock band. Dunno though.
  4. This is so incredibly stupid I don't know where to start. You should know how expensive upgrading a PC is. If his PC is outdated (I.E if he isn't a PC gamer and doesn't keep it updated) it will take more than just selling his console and an extra hundred bucks to 'upgrade' it. Mine cost me about $850 and thats about the minimum you can spend for a powerful enough PC for todays games to run them on mostly high details. Seriously, if he enjoys consoles let him. Your 'solution' was so off the mark it wasn't even funny.
  5. Dream Theater- Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence on Oveture at the moment, but this entire CD really is just one long song.
  6. Awesome laptop Nadril. It has an hd-dvd drive too. The only thing is if he wants to upgrade his memory most of the time laptops with 1GB is that it's 2x 512MB sticks so he will have to replace all of the memory. Hah I'll be damned, it does have an HD DVD drive... awesome. anyways if you need another cheap 2 gigs to replace this looks like a damn good deal. 30 bucks after rebate for 2 gigs!
  7. Or he can just get the standard Firewall/Anti virus and Spyware protection and be just fine. Just make sure that if you suspect a keylogger to scan with the anti virus and spyware software and it should find it. 99% of the time if you keep them updated it'll find it the moment it hits the system. There is no need to go back to XP and waste money.
  8. This is a nice laptop, especially if you throw in this memory so you will have 2 gig's for vista. That will place you right around the ~1,000 mark.
  9. Nadril replied to guss's topic in Off-Topic
Dunno how you pronounce it, the name is from an HP Lovecraft work. Also its a drone/ambient metal band. And, yes, I posted it because its probably the most obscure band I heard lol.
  10. Uh.. no? Sure after 4 gigs (well 3.5gigs) a 32 bit processor isn't going to recognize anymore, and there may be a period with a 64 bit processor where extra ram won't really help but it will never actually decrease performance, thats silly.
  11. Christ insane, you make it sound like no one has ever lied to hopefully get a shorter sentance. The fact is is that mortal kombat DOES NOT HAVE WRESTLING MOVES IN IT. It's a lie and it is a bad one, I'm amazed you can't see that. If you're going the avenue of lying to make a shorter sentence, then it would further support my point. Saying "wrestling moves" is much shorter than <>. If the actual criminal said they were practicing mortal kombat, then that proves my point entirely, I'm not going to assume she's randomly lying to cover up her real motive for beating up a seven year old... because a different motive is so obvious, right? People blame video games all the time, and a large portion of the media already believes them to be "evil". No doubt someone would try and put blame on that instead of something no one really cared about, right? And anyways like I said before there are really no 'wrestling moves' in mortal kombat, so its tough to believe they were actually trying to act that out. Honestly insane, you've got a lot to learn if you really think that someone who beat up and murder a 7 year old wouldn't lie to protect their own hides.
  12. bad bad bad bad bad. Disable one of those anti virus's, you only want one up at a time or they can easily cause problems.
  13. Zakk Wylde- The Things You Do. Guy from Black Label Society's solo stuff, acoustic mostly. Really good stuff.
  14. For some reason this just had me laughing out loud.

  16. For transparencies you need to save it as a .GIF or a .PNG (Not sure if PNG transparencies worth with internet explorer, however). Just make sure the background isn't white but the little checkered boxes that indicate there is nothing there.
  17. Ironic that that post made as much sense as the OP : Sorry, my comedy is a bit dry today. Family guy quote. :P Reminded me of the OP for some reason ;p
  18. I NEED AN ADULT! I NEED AN ADULT!! :uhh:
  19. Good stuff. And yeah, you can get away sometimes with an unsuported device -- its just not as easy as just pluging it in and playing. :P
  20. Ok, gotcha. That is very strange that a game would block U.S IP's, what game was it? And I'm not sure how long AC2 really stayed open, but it was a decent while. They gave people plenty of notice (a couple months time maybe) so they knew what was going to happen. It had a very rough start and was just never as good as the first AC. It had a small loyal fanbase but sadly they just couldn't keep it up. Also you have to remember that, while the head CEO of a gaming company may just be interested in the profits that all of those people working inside the company are probably gamers as well. All of the writers, graphics designers, programmers, ect. all probably love games as much as we do and work their best to bring out a good product. The problem comes from the fact that some companies will overwork their employees or will rush a product out the door (*cough* EA *Cough). The reason why I noted off those companies earlier is that they really do care about the end product. For example, blizzard. They could probably just [cabbage] in a box and sell it and it would sell -- their name has power behind it. However every time they work hard on creating a great game. You wonder how a company can be so sucessful with so few games? You work with each one until its a work of art, until it is perfected -- which blizzard does. They aren't afraid to delay games. Valve, as well, knows how to put out a finished product. It took them a good 5 years or more for half life 2, but when it came out -- it was brilliant. My point is is that you can tell the companies that really care because they will work on making it as clean as possible. The exception of this, of course, are new gaming companies that just don't have the funds. The hellgate: London team, for example, had to release early because they were running out of money to develop. What happened is a buggy mess which they are trying dilligantly to fix right now. Anyways that is my take on it, considering I want to be a part of the gaming industry in some way when I am out of college.
  21. So, little backstory. Recently my sound card's acting up has been getting worse and worse. The problem is, you see, is that I'm using an onboard card (realtek) and I often get a lot of crackles and pops in my sound when I'm playing a graphic intensive game + listening to music, or something like that. I think it's probably just because my motherboard is working hard and that the sound card (since it isn't that great) is suffering. Now, I'm going to remedy this by just buying a new sound card. I'll probably end up getting it at best buy simply because I don't want to have to wait for the package to come, and sound cards aren't much either way. My question is if the X-FI is really worth it for me over, say, and Audigy 4. I'm currently just running a 2 speaker setup 99% of the time with the very rare time I use headphones. The speakers are fairly decent (logitech) but are in no way 'top end'. They were maybe 30 bucks or so when I got them 5 months or so ago. So is the X-FI worth the extra money or am I better of with an Audigy 4? :)
  22. They were using wrestling moves on her, none of which have ever been in mortal kombat. Pulling in the came is just a cheap way to put the blame on something. Its sick, yeah.
  23. You do that.
  24. You don't happen to live in china or something, do you Defender? That is the only place I would see a company trying to block IP's from. It is true that companies are worried with profits, because with the high cost of creating games today it needs to turn a good profit. However I really do think several companies out there still truly care about their fan base and their customers. Places such as Blizzard, Valve, Bioware -- ect. are all pretty consistant and try to do what they can for people. Not the same thing. Asherons Call 2 got shut down because the game was making, seriously, hardly any money. It cost them more to upkeep it then they got from subscriptions and thus it was canceled.
