Tip.It Times - 5th September 2010
If it's true that Mod Ash is a Tipiter, it would explain a lot. His/her updates are almost always good. I'm really curious as to who it is. I am curious how you guys got Toad = Mod Ash am i missing something? I don't think Toad is Mod Ash (though you never know). I'm just saying it's interesting that Mod Ash is a Tipiter, and apparently a well-known one.

Why Do You Play RS Over Other MMOs?
Aaaaaaaand that's when I stop taking you seriously ;) Jagex isn't admitting that Runescape is a children's game? Wow, alert the media. Really great catch, buddy. Lol, nice argument there. Just kidding, you didn't make one. If you're good at something, it usually means you do it efficiently. When it comes to Runescape, efficiency and being good at something are somewhat interchangeable concepts. A lot of people like to be good at the games they play. Being good at Runescape usually means being efficient, and some people have fun doing it (what a concept!). I love slayer. I think killing stuff is fun. I'm a very efficient slayer. I'm good at slayer. I have fun slaying. I also like solo bosshunting. I'm good at it. I do it efficiently. It's fun. You don't have to believe me. I don't care. At the end of the day, I got 99 slayer as a product of having fun slaying, and I'll keep slaying because it's fun. I don't see how you can argue about something that's so subjective. It's pretty childish of you.

Chaotic Rapier vs Longsword
You find the greatest conversations when barbarian fishing. This guy was level 114. His proof?

You had to wear the shield to get the nose, right? Is the locating function any good?

CT Waterfiends; Max melee, Iron Titan, Overloads, Turmoil
Overloads are potentially very dangerous to use while the fiends are aggressive. BE CAREFUL BRO. Honestly, I'd just use a dose of overload for the first five minutes, then use extremes for the rest of the trip. Or just extremes.

I dislike Dungeoneering
Things you're doing wrong: 1. World 117, lol. 2. Thinking that Runescape is a game of instant gratification. Sorry, you're going to have to train the skill to reap its benefits. 3. Partnering with people you don't know and have no reason to trust. Dungeoneering clans work because you can assume that everyone is experienced. Random strangers are very unreliable otherwise. Go with friends or just solo. Soloing isn't THAT bad. Have fun dungeoneering. I mean that literally -- don't kill yourself trying to be efficient in a skill that relies so heavily on other players. Until you can join an elite clan, you'll have to do it the leisurely way.

Chaotic Rapier vs Longsword
They don't have low slash defense. They have high defense in general, and the CLS is the most accurate one-handed weapon.

07-Sep-10 Elite Diaries!
Okay, here are my thoughts on the rewards of each diary. There's a lot of text. [hide] The free bolt enchantment is a little odd, but I suppose it could come in handy. 80 battlestaves a day is good, of course. Half price housing is nice. I'm curious as to how much more generous Bork's drops are, but Bork was good before the boost, so it's a good reward. I don't know why we need storage boxes for beacons if we already have an adze, but I'm sure some player will come up with an emergent way to exploit them someday. A few new rewards. Restoration of summoning points is interesting, though not incredibly useful. I don't know if the fishing trawler and rune limbs rewards are new, but both seem kinda useless. 120 buckets of sand a day was never interesting. The elite cape was always worth getting, though, due to the farming patch tele. If it's a right-click option, the two prayer restorations could make the shield useful for slayer tasks (in place of a prayer potion). Locating the mole might be useful (mole is fun to do now and then). I definitely don't want to equip the shield every killing blow when mole hunting, so the last mole-related reward is pretty useless. Having a Zarosian altar in Falador castle would be cool for novelty's sake, but a digsite pendant is probably just as fast for switching to curses (but why would I not be on curses?). Rewards aren't too bad, all in all. Depending on how much extra damage is done to the kings, these could be the new staple footwear at DKs. The mine's usefulness depends on what the ores are. Ability to tele to Neitiznot or Jatizso is potentially very useful. Good rewards overall, I think. Double tickets from the agility arena seems useless. Double damage against dogs is useless. shortcut to red dragons might be nice as an alternative way to make money, but only if the shortcut is an instant jump from the beginning of the dungeon to the dragons. Resurrection in the fight caves is pretty cool -- it might just save you someday (I misread this reward as being only for the fight pits when I first posted in this thread). 40 apples a day is completely useless, and I can't imagine why that was added. Extra points from Lapalok is useless; it should be extra points from ALL slayer masters. 8k tokkul a day is cute, but mostly useless. I won't discuss the Lumbridge ring, as it's still only useful for the cabbage patch teleport.[/hide] EDIT: Forgot Seers'. I'll remedy that in 30 minutes or so.

Is ZGS no longer good for Saradomin GWD? Nope. Melee is by far the most effective combat style in teams, and it's much better to use a damaging spec weapon than a freezing one.

These forums don't move fast enough to need one. You can just post on your own thread if it gets to the second page, which takes awhile.

07-Sep-10 Elite Diaries!
It's a little sad that godswords are almost entirely obsolete now. Dragon claws > AGS Seers 4 EE > SGS Anything > ZGS BGS still has a place on larger corp teams, but for how much longer? I actually had a suggestion for a Mahjarrat quest that involved godswords. Where's the original godsword hilt? Through the sealed door in GWD, me thinks.

Agreed. Either that or the Karamja diary should increase points for all slayer masters.

07-Sep-10 Elite Diaries!
I'm very disappointed with the rewards from the elite Falador and Karamja diaries, Karamja more so than Falador. I don't think there's a single reward (other than exp lamps) from the Karamja diary that I'd ever use. All of the other rewards are great, however. DOUBLE healing from the enhanced excalibur! WOW.

Chaotic Rapier vs Longsword
I think your point about many Runescape girls not actually being girls really skews the results in the longsword's favor. All of the girls who are actually guys are going to pick the longsword because they, of course, want the longsword for themselves (or for other reasons . . .). Oropher is a wise man. Anyway, I agree with your conclusion regardless of how you got there. I'm getting my Chaotic Compensationsword soon. iloveyougremmy

Firemaking suggestion: FLAMING EQUIPMENT
You mean like fire robes shield you from fire? I guess. *shrug* Makes sense. You wouldn't throw a bucket of water at a lake if you were trying to hurt the lake.

Firemaking suggestion: FLAMING EQUIPMENT
I don't like all of the ideas, but I think you've hit on a few gems. Firstly, I think melee should only get the ignited defenders (I think ignited is a great word to describe these upgraded items). If magic is going to get the most benefit, it would make sense that melee should get the least benefit. This brings me to magic: I love the idea of ignited robes with melee recoil. I also like the idea of enchanting a pickaxe to have a chance to smelt ores. For the hammer, what about giving the blast fusion hammer a slight chance to smith faster, and the higher your FMing level, the higher the chance? Given that magic would have ignited robes, I would think that ignited arrows would do no additional damage. If that's the case, which it logically would be, it would be a little unbalancing to the combat triangle.

Yeah, I don't see how remapping keys could be considered illegal.

Slayer vs. Power training
Before effigies, slayer begot more total experience, but less experience in specific skills than powertraining. Effigies make slayer undeniably better. However, it DOES depend on what you intend to do with your account.

Why Do You Play RS Over Other MMOs?
Cheap, browser-based, variety, quests, lore, and mostly because I want to. I play FPS' when I need instant gratification, and I play RS when I want to relax.

Dungeoneering: Bindery
Firstly, I have to comment on how great it is that there are so many differing opinions on what the most effective items to bind are. It'll be even better when the skill is finished. I'm not incredibly knowledgeable when it comes to dungeoneering binds. I haven't even seen a hood and I'm level 74 dungeoneering. Personally, my dream setup (assuming 100 DG) would be a Hexhunter bow, hood, and sagittarian body or primal chain. I don't know why, but I'm OBSESSED with the Hexhunter (hence my avatar). I think it's interesting, but unsurprising, that the primal baxe is so popular. Assuming 100 dungeoneering, would a primal baxe, primal kite, and hood be a great set for a pro keyer? Now that I think about it, I suppose a platebody and a novite kite would be better.
