Slayer..
Ray doesn't realize that he's posting in a debate forum. EDIT: To unspam. I'll address your "Lololol @ k4lfites" comment. Bauke has proven you very wrong on the subject of statistics and averages, so no need to go there. The time spent hopping worlds to find an empty Kalphites spot is a huge waste of potential Slayer experience. They are by and far one of the most crowded Slayer monsters. You COULD slay Kalphite Guardians, but they are quite slow, and slow to respawn, even on high population worlds. Kalphites are just too crowded. Over time, some monsters and methods become obsolete whether due to crowding or because better methods and monsters are available. Avianses are heading in that direction, for example. Another example is Bloodvelds in the Slayer Tower. It is quite difficult to get two spawns to yourself, which is the minimum you'd need to slay with any sort of efficiency there. Not to mention that Mutated Velds are much better experience, and have much better drops, and as such they make Slayer Tower Velds null. If Black Demons in the Chaos Tunnels were to suddenly be as crowded as Kalphites, they would also become obsolete. Unlike Kalphites, however, that would truly be tragic.

Travels of a single-player in a multi-player world
I'm like you. I don't bother with people in Runescape. My chat is always on hide, cause I find the game spam to be more interesting than what other people are saying. Lately I've been popping into ESC chat, but I find that I just get annoyed and leave. The GE was a godsend, cause I literally do not have to deal with people in Runescape. As for what makes me tick? Combat, and trying to be a one man army, basically. I plan on maxing every combat skill, including Slayer, and putting them to the test. I would much rather solo boss monsters than go with a team. There's no challenge with teams. The only exception is the Corporal Beast, and if I do go with a team, it'll be a very rare occasion indeed. I play Runescape for Runescape. Not for the people. As further proof that I'm a total [wagon], I'm also very interested in PvP. Other players, to me, are just really smart boss monsters.

Slayer..
Before I say anything, the post by pureprayer above me is a total troll post. Nearly everyone of his comments are wrong and as such can be disregarded. If you really want the max experience, the best ban list is: Hellhounds Greater Demons Steel Dragons And either Kalphites or Iron Dragons Those are the slowest tasks for experience. Still awaiting Ray's rebuttal.

While it is random, there are limited possibilities for tasks, and as such the experience will average out over a long period of time. It's similar to how we can get averages for using the ZMI altar.- Slayer..
Fail, Ray, you don't seem to understand that it is very simple, and very realistic to get accurate experience rates with Slayer. You seem to assume that we would use a small sample. It takes hundreds of hours to reach 99 Slayer, and that is by far a large enough sample. There are a couple thousand 99 Slayers. You don't think that MAYBE one or two of them got together and tried this? You aren't the first to think about it, and you have absolutely no data to back your claim up. You are going against the word of players who are much better at this game than yourself, and know better as well. And I'll ask you again: what tasks are more efficient, faster, and cheaper to range than to melee?- Different "modes" for combat familiars.
Here's a thread that I posted in the RSOF regarding combat familiars. The ideas came from, and were inspired by, the "Combat Familiars" thread in General Discussion. 74-75-616-58321314 I'm going to get right into it. First of all, I do not claim this to be my idea. I've heard these suggestions elsewhere, but I could not find a thread that deals with these specific issues, so here they are: Familiars need three modes, accessible from the Summoning tab. 1) Aggressive. While aggressive, familiars will target and attack nearby monsters. Currently, a familiar will only attack if it is attacked, or if the player is attacked. This is a huge problem while ranging or maging in a safespot. You are not taking damage, so your familiar will not attack! 2) Defensive. This mode would be identical to the way familiars are now. It will only attack if provoked or if the player is attacked. Not much to elaborate on here. 3) Neutral. In this mode, a familiar will not attack, regardless of whether or not it or the player is being attacked. This is a problem in areas like the Dagannoth King lair, where your familiar will often run around attacking synolops instead of staying by your side. My final suggestion is a way to make familiars target specific monsters to attack. This would work exactly like the Spirit Graahk's "Goad" scroll. You click the target icon on your summoning tab, and click on a monster. Your familiar would then target and attack that monster. In conclusion, these suggestions would allow familiars to be used tactically, as well as allowing them to be useful to all three combat types. Other than what I've described, I have no further qualms with summoning. It's my favorite skill, and I would like for it to be as perfect as possible. Thanks for reading. I appreciate any feedback and criticism.- Magic: PKability with DoubleCast!
I'm waiting for someone to post Muggi's mage PKing gif. I don't really have anything to add. I'm not totally fond of the idea, especially since mage can KO, despite popular belief.- Combat Familiars.
In case anyone wants to take a look, I made this thread on the RSOF. I feel pretty strongly about this issue considering it's one of my favorite skills. 74-75-616-58321314 I felt that this was an adequate fix for a lot of the problems we have, but I'm more than willing to take suggestions and add them to the thread.- Combat Familiars.
Exactly. I think combat familiars have a few drawbacks, but for multicombat melee'ing like in your example, they work just fine. I think one of big issues is that they don't attack if you're safespotting, as stated above. They're pretty much useless if you're maging or ranging.- D claws or Ags
It is a word, and you used it correctly. I love the English language. My suggestion (though necessary at this point) is to buy the claws.- Combat Familiars.
The Overlord is probably the best "low level" combat familiar. It hits pretty accurately, uses range and mage, maxes at around 10 I believe with its normal attack, and hits around 15-16 with its drown attack, which randomly activates sometimes. I would imagine it'd be much better if you charge your Slayer Helm with Doomsphere scrolls. At 73 Summoning, I use the Overlord more than any other familiar (while slaying.) EDIT: In summary, I would use the Overlord exclusively till 79 summoning.- Mass banning for penguins?
I did penguins, but didn't get all of them. I DID get the Ardougne one though. I'm not banned. If I DO get banned, I'm going to be pissed.- Slayer..
:wall: That's all I can say.- Slayer..
Ok, lets see, you can get say, 10 tasks of slow, bad xp, like say Iron dragons, or 10 tasks of something fast, good xp, and possibly good money, like, a combo of hellhounds and spiritual mages. There is obviously no way to actually even come close to limiting an amount of xp from an hour, let alone a day of slayer, unless you are: 1. Stupid enough to try 2. Psychic 3. Stuck in a very very obvious loop I would like someone to explain to me how to average slayer xp without knowing what tasks you will get. Gavati, for one hit the nail on the head. The point of this debate is not, why train slayer by melee, its why not train ranged by slayer. Some tasks can be faster via range, can be more fun, can be more efficient and cheaper. Though, there are little that defeat melee in any of this, there are still some. It takes a long time to get to 99 Slayer. If you record your experience for say, 20 hours, you can get a good idea of how much experience per hour you're getting. It's not rocket science. More efficient and cheaper? That's highly debatable. The one task that I could think of that you COULD use range in was black demons in Taverly dungeon. That is no where near more efficient. Cheaper? Yes, possibly, but melee is way faster, not to mention the fact that you miss out on tons of charms. Also, I would love to hear what you're idea of "faster, cheaper, and more efficient" is. Please - what tasks?- fletchin
The #1 moneymaker in f2p is actually mining runite. Anyway, the way to make money from fletching is generally to buy unstrung yew longbows and bowstrings, and then string them. The money is actually pretty slow, but you get fast experience. wat about the lost time training to mine runite? i dont think any f2p can recover that lost time....think about how long it takes u to get(i think 85) the ability to mine rune and think about the time it takes to train to wc yews? Good point. Oh wait... rune mining is easily two to three times as much profit per hour as yews... go figure.- Kennith's Concerns is impossible.

I can't get through the second room. I'm not looking for advice. I'm looking for someone to sell me a gun, some rope, and a large bowl of chili. [hide=]I can't get past the second room.[/hide]- Temporary lack of penguins
Scary. I was just doing penguin hunting yesterday for the first time in weeks. I do hope that bans are distributed liberally.- Curtis Josep's New Bank Picture

This information is relevant to my interests. Personally, I think you should use string jewelry, or mage Rex like Oropher said. Use the time saved (or profit gained) to do something fun. What amulets would you be stringing?- An Essence of Skills Divided
