Pixel WIP- UPDATE
erm well the main problem is that the sitting position doesn't look very comfortable, im too lazy atm to draw out anything new that could help but im sure there are plenty of pictures that could help you with the positioning, maybe its that your picture lacks any perspective too? the chair looks flat on the screen, and saying that so does the coins, you need to have more depth to each object.. With the coins texturing is all well and good but you still also need depth. xman did something involving people sittin down with coins.. http://img64.echo.cx/img64/4909/misterx ... av34vi.png http://img136.exs.cx/img136/5566/mister ... 7qk0sn.png but your best bet is to search for images of people sitting down, study how and why they look as they do. im not saying trace.. but just observing and trying to make sense of human anatomy goes a long way when you come to trying to drawing it yourself.. just doing simple things like this always helps..

My first step-frame animation
haha very nice, I love seeing frame by frame animation, its the only way to go imo. some parts do seem a bit iffy but the bulk of it is very promising.. Id suggest storyboarding your general plot before hand, even with something so simple, sketch out different angles, work out how long you want each movement to take.. Just basically break down your animation into easy to handle chunks.. I did something similar morthing a doll into a green glass-bottle, it took a few weeks to do and the end result was only 20 seconds long .. Cartoons are much quicker to animate haha. nice work though, keep it up.

My First Pixel Sig- Done?
i'd start out sketching out a character using basic human anatomy and make sure all your proportions are correct.. Then start working on giving your character a robe on top of your pre-proportioned character so you know your robes will look right.. :-k obviously this is reaaally rushed so don't crit this at all haha :uhh: just illustrating what I mean, btw my proportions are terrible, its something you have to keep working at and tweaking..

W.I.P. Pixel Background
head and neck's far too wide, looks stretched.. yeah you need more depth, imagine looking at this character from another angle with the shading you have atm, he'd basically be flat faced. keep at it tho, your general body proportions are improving.

Warrior of the unknown cause **UpdateD**
great anatomy so far, just really need to work on defining muscles, tweaking parts etc till it looks right.. my main concern atm is the head, maybe shrink it down a bit.. goodluck..

My First Pixel Sig- Done?
well if you want to see any pixelers at work theres a few over at pixel-arts.org who have video'ed themselves pixelin stuff. its pretty damn impressive but im probably not supposed to advertise that here :uhh: :ohnoes: But yeah, just use your judgement to get things looking clean, if it looks too sharp then its only a few pixels worth of work and boom! it smooth \ using the line tool in in small movements is the way to go, its not against any 'unwritten rules' jst aslong as its all manually done... gl

:: A question to sig makers :: (Concerns pixelers mostly)
I personally think you've been great here megadedhed, very upbeat, willing to speak your mind and give advice were you can :D There's no one I 'hate' here theres plenty I don't know but mostly people are nice.. I try to keep this forum as active as possible, even after being perminately banned you still couldn't keep me away and im back for good. If this forum looses everything else it won't loose me : if that helps at all.. This forum has gone down since some people have left but it's the future that matters, don't dream of things being how they were. :(

Battle of the Pixelers [cancelled]
well it is the battle of the pixelers :-k ... don't know what was talked about, but I know auto dithering as an option on some programs maybe.. on photoshop if you click on save for web you can reduce the colour count with PNGs or GIFs, and theres an option to pattern, noise or diffusion dither to make up for loss of shades.. Not recommended for 'pixel-artists' as its supposed to be hand rendered but website designers use to reduce size, advertising banners is probably where you'll notice it.. heres an example.. original image reduced colour image no added dither -16 colours- reduced colour image with the pattern dither option selected.. -same 16 colours- :-k

hello people
Oh wow looking very good, my concern is with the palette itself, with more changes in your Hue's this could look much more dynamic. nothing wrong with your facial proportions from what I can see, yeah its all pretty much dead-on, maybe just use your lighter shades to bring out some depth in some places, on the forehead.. etc .. hope you don't mind the edit, :-# awesome anyways.. :XD:

need texturing help
this is only done very quickly, but with bricks/rocks you don't want them to look flat like a smooth wall, each brick should still have relative depth.. You could simply add a highlight at the top and shading at the bottom but in all honestly it just doesn't seem very interesting and no level of dithering will change that, plus it may not be the best lightsource choice.. instead just imagine each brick has a bumpy surface, highlight areas that you would think to be raised and add shadows to add more depth acording to your lightsource.. oh and with that zoggle link, great tips for small bricks but these are much larger and you must combine what you learn with that rocks tut too..
