  1. Is this a rant about the new PVP, or just a cry for members objects for f2p? Please do not mix the two, because I enjoy the new PVP, and I don't think that it is unbiased for "low levels." - Level up, nub. I also enjoy the fact that you get 10 seconds to kill them after they run into the bank, alot better than, cross over the ditch and be done.

Well, in all fairness, you knew it was coming in October - JaGeX even said on its updates when it was coming out. I'm just trying to figure out if the Santa suit will include a hat - if so, I gotta get rid of mine, if not... well, I'm just going to hang onto it a bit longer. -.-
  3. merchanting rune and addy scimitars in front of bh before single-way and unbalanced trade regulations -- someone traded me rune (g) plate for 2 rune scimitars... I think they were desperate. (buying 100 addy scims for 500 ea, and selling for 4k ea was a blast, same with buying rune scims for 19k and selling for 25k) Then I got really upset when rune scims fell from 22k each to 16k during a vacation break... I had about 200 of them, so 1.2 mil loss kinda upset me... I sold everything, and had a drop part of about 2 million, saved 200k for myself and full rune. Took a break for 2 months, then got back, and made about 8 mil off of buying and selling rune sets, 4 mil from investing, and 1 mil off the ess price surge. :P
  4. There are two portals, one you lose your items the other you don't. And: A thread about someone being called a "noob"? Wow this is the first thread I've seen about this topic in a whole minute! You guys are slacking, if we need anything it's more "omg I got called a noob in a video game! RUNESCAPE PLAYERS SUCK" Um, no. He's complaining about how people are still playing as if they lose items upon death. They refuse to fight it all the way and instead run when running is absolutely pointless. And on top of that people are being hypocritical. But, what do you expect from 7-13 yr olds?
  5. I appreciate the thoughtfulness of your replies, however may I remind you that this is the rant forum... And that you've lost the basic point of my rant: people who think like you annoy me. I understand that you disagree, but lets agree to disagree, and let this thread, which was put in the rants forum, remain a rant, and not a debate.
  6. I know that this isn't the place to put this, but meh, its about revs, and I'm sure all of you wanting to rant would like to hear this: I was walking to clan wars today, when an Orc started hitting me. Now I'm level 89, so getting maged in full rune by a level 105 is kinda a big deal. I walk by CW, and say "rev here, help!". At that instant, literally 15 people came out and started hitting it. It took about 30 seconds to kill it, but let me tell you it was the most awesome sight I'd seen. [cabbage] you revs!
  7. It wasn't my intention to get this in depth, however I will try to counter a few points. How many items in Runescape are luxury items, and how many are necessities? Most, if not all items in Runescape are luxury items. I would like to see you do the same. Thing is, no one will ever know exactly what caused it, as there are too many variables involved, including things that Runescape lacks - namely taxes, incomes, corporations, etc. Remind me, which items in Runescape were essential? Like, your avatar would not survive if it didn't get every day, etc. Nothing, really. The multiplier? As in theres a marginal propensity to spend, or a marginal propensity to save? Or the fact that gp in runescape is created, but (in effect) never destroyed? (With the exception of bans.) Last thing - the items that price manipulators use already cost millions. Its just doesn't make sense for them to be limited to items where they can only sell so much in so little time, without making a large profit. To the average joe in Runescape, a Santa Hat or a DFS or a P-Hat or anything is out of reach anyway, and even still until they get the minimum stat required to wield it. By the time they get there, they should already have their own ways to make money.
  8. I only join through blue, because I know that once I end up joining with the green team, theres someone else who can get in on yellow. And If I get on yellow, well so be it, I'm going to have a difficult time because theres going to be people on green who know what they're doing. Anyhow - I advocate joining through blue only, just because I like balanced teams. It peeves me to no end when somebody leaves their team, and perpetuates the cycle of "FFS noobs quit leaving" and resetting the clock. It also peeves me when I see 10 people standing around the yellow wizard, trying to get in. [hide=6 hints for noobs] [*:2xzi9rkn]If you're at the mind, earth, or body altar, and all you've done is stood next to the altar, attracting orbs in, theres good chances that you've haven't helped your team out at all. Those altars require you to go get the orbs, not wait for them to spawn near you. In a perfect situation, 70-90% of the people will be out at the outsides, and the other 10-30% will help finish it. [*:2xzi9rkn]If you're repelling your orb at the air altar, you're probably doing something wrong. [*:2xzi9rkn]If you don't know whether you're attracting or repelling, check before you click. The only thing worse than someone who doesn't help is someone who tries... but fails miserably. [*:2xzi9rkn]One person to an orb at a time, please. Unless theres more than 10 people on your team. Then go for it. This brings me to point #5 [*:2xzi9rkn]Once you've manipulated the orb as much as you can, break off of it. TBH you shouldn't wait for it to get to you/go to the spot, break off of it between 2 and 3 squares before it gets there. It'll still float on. Also that gives others the chance to keep on moving it, getting it to the end goal. [*:2xzi9rkn]If you can't follow any of these instructions, then blocking / unblocking is for you. Watch carefully where your opponents orbs are, and block off the area where they're going to. Just make sure you block it before it gets there, and that you don't look stupid pulling up a block as the orb floats on through. And unblock once the orb goes away, because you might just be hurting your own team.[/hide] I concur. If somebody drops out of a team before the match starts, causing the timer to reset, they shouldn't be allowed to join until after that game gets done.
  9. The short version: I don't like it when people get mad at others who are a little more market savvy, or just have a lot of gp. In case some of you don't have a background in economics: [hide=The econ background, for your viewing pleasure]There is something called a supply and demand curve. In a supply curve, the price of the item dictates the amount of people who are willing to sell. For instance, at price m, there are n people willing to sell. And theres also something called the demand curve. At a price m, there are o people willing to buy. Uncut sapphires are a good example. When the price of uncut sapphires gets to about 480, people are like, "Hey, thats a good deal. I should train crafting now. I'll buy a bunch of uncut sapphires." People with uncut sapphires will be like, "Hey, thats not a good deal. I'm not going to sell my sapphires." The price will then go up, because theres more people willing to buy than there are to sell, a scarcity has occurred. When the price of uncut sapphires get up to about 540, people are like "Hey, thats a bit expensive. I'm not going to train crafting right now, I don't need sapphires." People with sapphires are like, "Hey, thats a great price. I'm going to sell my sapphires now." Thats when a surplus has occurred. Now, a group of people could buy hundreds of thousands of uncut sapphires, and the price would not be affected too greatly, because uncut sapphires are a common occurrence, and like air or fire runes, are traded enough to keep a (relatively) stable price. Its with the items that are not so common where they can "Manipulate" the price. Hording in RS is much like scalping tickets, or buying a bunch of XBOX 360's or Wii's, and selling on ebay. People are willing to pay much more for an item when its scarce than what it actually might naturally occur. This will cause the price to rise, as people pay more and more for less and less. When the items finally get dumped, they'll settle down to what it naturally should be, or the market will pull the price back in. The reason that nobody gets "screwed" in scalping, is that, they're willing to pay for it. Heres a quick question, how much is something worth? The answer is how much somebody is willing to pay for it. Is a coffee at starbucks worth it to you? If its not, then you won't buy it, because you're not willing to pay for it. To someone else, it might be, so they'd buy it. Items in RS are much the same way, where its worth one thing to one person, and another to the next.[/hide] My view: If you can't beat 'em, join them. There are plenty of ways to make gp, so even if you don't have the millions others have, you can still get there if you put in a little effort. Yes, that means you too F2P. Stop complaining already. And so begins the flame:
  10. Alright, I know everyone has made a prediction about one thing or another. I remember making this one, and thought I'd repost it. http://itemdb-rs.runescape.com/2384_gra ... 36&scale=1 (from page 7 of the thread "12 Aug 2008 - Runecrafting Guild and Game - For All Players!") So it went to 62/65/68... I was close. What about everyone else, what was/is your prediction, and how did it turn out? (glad to see this thread taking off)
  11. flesh crawlers anyone? Each has 25 hp, meaning 100 xp per kill. Start 2-3 hitting them and you're getting fast xp, and they drop the occ. sapph or em. Also, they're aggressive in a single combat area, so they line up to die.
  12. sees_all1 replied to a post in a topic in Rants
IMO, lying about your runecrafting stat to get people to request assist is scamming, its as if you traded the essence to the player, then they trade you back something that wasn't agreed upon. If someone says x8 or x9, then they'd better give me x8 or x9 airs per ess. I think, though, that overall jagex improved runecrafting, especially for F2P. The items combined from FoG and GOP make runecrafting x5 easier - x2 the xp from rc gloves, and x2.5 faster from the teleports. The fact that you didn't see the price of ess skyrocketing for a short period of time is just bad merchanting skills on your part, I know I predicted that it would about double early on.
  13. i was trying to think why anyone would post this... seems to me that it would be a better kept secret. Then it dawned on me that he probably has 250k balls of wool right now, trying to sell on the ge. And the only way it'll sell is if everyone buys high on the ge. He's duped tip.it-ers. Sad.
  14. I'm pretty sure this breaks the rules, and goes under the category "Bug abuse" But, if air talisman get up above the 1k range, I might have a new thing to get from the GOP.
  15. I assume he's talking about regular ess (hence the 50 gp ea) Anyhow, a little updates for you - A full win (6/6) will get you 750 tokens. A full loss (0/6) will get you 60 tokens. Each round takes about 2-3 min. Call it 18 min per game, including wait. Ess is now around 45 gp each, consider that it will stabilize at 42 each. (45 each) 3 rounds / hour, best case is 2250 * 45 per hour, 101k. Worst case is 180 * 45 per hour, 8.1k Too risky.
  16. I've got 60 prayer, and I'm proud of that, espescially because my account is all f2p. I also had 50 rc before the rc game, which IMHO is an accomplishment in f2p. I wouldn't complain about the number of clicks something is... honestly, clicking doesn't take much effort, and if you don't like clicking then using a computer probably isn't for you. Esp. if you're playing a game where clicking is 95% of your interaction with the game.
  17. Plagiarism is a dangerous thing, stealing people's ideas and such. You probably got the 2.4 mil figure from the other thread too; and that was my math, but it was in 13 days with another thing, without price manipulation. (I also posted that 2 days before this thread.) Heres the thing - as far as ideas to make money go, this one is old, so don't even claim it to be your own. The other thread did a lot better job explaining what he did, was much clearer, and also gave realistic figures. He also beat you to the punch by 4 days. Well, maybe, except the Billionaire's Investment Guide mentioned this idea (albeit vaguely) 2 months even before that. So, I'm going to rate this idea at a 1 / 10. No points for creativity, no points for being well thought out, no points for plagiarism. Fail.
  18. who cares? you still got your 25k, right?
  19. Well - no, it shouldn't, unless you're buying high and selling low. A set's price is determined by the pieces it contains. So if you were to buy all the rune pieces at market level, set it, and sell it as a set, you wouldn't make any money. But we weren't doing that, were we? We were buying the rune pieces at less than their market value, and selling the set at higher than market value.
  20. I like how your thread has a similar title to mine --- but really, if you're going to talk about how you made 2M with wool, you'd have to have a vast amount of gp to start with. I'm going to chug this out on excel, using your exact instructions, and examples. 40k wool a day. Good. 11 gp, then 12, then 13 --- all the way to 21. Good. This would mean that you bought 440k wool - unless the price jumped by 2 any of the days. But you said you had 400k wool. So we'll say that you sold on day 11, not day 12. You made 2.2 million over a period of 13 days, so its not really 2M in 10 days, now is it? Also, you needed to have at least 6.2M to start. For someone looking to make just 2M, thats quite a bit. You said it also took only 5 minutes of work... but in reality, it takes effort getting to the GE, or even logging in. Also, using 1 of those spots you have in your GE exchange takes up 1 spot you could be buying or selling something else. For instance, with your 6.2M, I could buy 159 rune kites, or rune 2hs, for about 39k each. Then I could sell all of them for 40k or more. I'll assume 1k more. Then I could buy 163, and so on and so forth. The price would remain (relatively) stable, and buying and selling about 150-200 rune kites in 24 hours isn't unreasonable. Anyhow, after 13 days of doing this, you'd make 2.4M.
  21. "wtf u r so stuped dat geim is teh b3st of teh m1n1geims zast join teh y3ll0w t34m n u win pl0xx!!" wth is that crap? anyhow, the only way for jagex to fix this is if they make it so you randomly get assigned a team. That way, starting out, numbers are equal. BTW - a good player, on their own can get between 3 and 10 orbs in. That is to say at the air altar, 7ish, fire, 10, and body/earth, 3. Well, I have at least. The trick is that you have to push the orb diagonally, and then it will travel and slide past obstacles. What upsets me is when i'm doing fine manipulating an orb by myself, and someone from my team feels like they have to help. And then they just pull it to themselves and never let go. Experience is definitely > numbers. I also found that if you push the orb when no one else is around, even if its theirs, you can do tons of stuff with it. my 2 bits.
  22. F2Pers - if you don't have 50 RC, don't get it just for this. OR wait! Ess will shoot up in price, I'm predicting that it'll hit a ceiling at about 70 gp ea. Anyhow, the rewards from the guild aren't that great, and you can't sell them (non-tradeable) unless its the ess.
  23. since this is for a lvl 3 - maybe you should post pictures? maps could help too. oh - and don't call your guide "ultimate" until its received enough views, ratings, etc. Its not ultimate just quite yet.
  24. d'hide sets will only fetch about 400 gp ea, and that is if you buy and sell the right way. So 20 at a time will get you about 8k per flop. The thing is that its pretty hard to get a rune set at the min, which is why its so easy to sell them high. Likewise, its easier to get all 4 pieces at the min, there is your profit. The most challenging part of the 1 mil, is getting to the point of buying and selling rune. Once you can do that, it'll go very quickly, believe me.
  25. i sometimes like to buy a few rune scims at the ge, then run up to bh to sell them. i but at the min on the ge, so when i'm selling, i sell at market. It upsets me when people try to give 15.3k when market is 15.39k, or similar. When I say, selling at x price, the only reason anyone should trade me is if they agree to those terms. time wasting - i know.
