  1. Here is a video I took of myself being attacked by a Knight. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PWD8LH08EiM As you can see, I turned on protect from range. It never hit through it, however IT DID FREEZE ME MORE THAN 1/2 THE TIME. In the 1:15 I was in contact with it, and had the range protect prayer on, I counted 23 attacks from the rev. 8 were range attacks, none hit for any damage, but 5 froze me. The other 15 were magic attacks. With next to the best magic armour, It hit me 10 times. That's 2/3 the time. Of those 10 hits, 6 of them were above 16, and none of those were below 19. In F2P, the best a PKer could have hit was 16 with magic. Every 3.25 seconds I was attacked by the rev. Every 13 Seconds, I was hit for more than 19. This would not happen in normal F2P pking. This is why revs are overpowered in F2P.
  2. If you didn't get anything out of this guide, some things to remember: -If you're pulling on an orb, and its not moving, chances are you need to get off. Sometimes you will lag, and you'll think you're standing in the right position, but in reality you're hugging the orb. -If you're repelling ever at the air altar, you're DOING IT WRONG -Timing is key. If you click on an orb just once, it will move at least 2 spaces, provided you won't hug it. During that time, you can reposition yourself while its still moving -Only click on an orb if you're going to help its position towards the altar. Too many times you'll find someone dragging an orb around the outside of the altar, never getting it in. Also, many times people will "nerf" their own orbs, putting it in a place that is difficult to pull in, such as behind a pillar. Oh, and play 50/50 if you're new. That way you can learn the basics in a non-competitive manner, and no one will scream NOOB at you.
  3. Put an altar in the east section of Karamja, a bank in Rimmington, and I'll be happy.
  4. So you liked my idea :P Anyhow, this monster kind of reminds me of 2 thing - Bubble Trouble and "How many 8-year-olds can you take on?" [hide=a little tangent 'plaining]Bubble Trouble is on miniclip, if you haven't tried it out. The "How many 8-year-olds can you take on" idea is a simple one. Given that you are in a gymnasium, with no weapons, how many 8 year olds could you bring down before succumbing to them? Call them your standard size, and they are fearless.[/hide] I support.
  5. I'm pretty sure most people don't have a computer science background at all, but I'm amazed that the GE works at all - Say that there are on the order of 2 million active accounts per day, half of which will use the GE. Call it a million items in a day, with about a million outstanding offers. The GE then has to match up every offer to pre-existing offers, on 170 different worlds. Not to mention the number of unique items. I have to imagine that there are probably 2 servers dedicated solely to the GE Adding this volume number, however, would take about 3 hours to program in, in a failsafe manner. Plus it would be 8 extra bytes for each object. It would be pretty neat though.
  6. The limits seriously made F2P crafting a [female dog]. I could buy uncuts for a fraction of what they were worth... saphs for 50, ems for 100, rubies for 500, and diamonds for 1k - made training to 50 crafting a cheap breeze. Now that everyone knows what's worth what, I can't train crafting easily anymore. meh.
  7. Could we get a mod to just [/thread] ? Seems to me that this idea hasn't taken on too well with TIF, probably because it looks like the idea is basically to add about 8 quests and package it as a "skill" - I did read through most of it, and I can't say I understand it. Unless the author wants to clear things up, or put more work into it, let's just let it die. [/fail]
  8. I'm not familiar with Oblivion, so I couldn't answer. I will tell you that this idea is not independent, however, as I did receive inspiration from (believe it or not) Golden Eye on N64 - pick up the shields for a health bonus (There may be other games similar, but I personally don't own any game counsels, and RS is my only major game). If you, or someone else would care to explain Oblivion to me, please do. This would give your character a "buffer" - as a way to max over stats.
  9. I'm not going to argue about what I don't know - if this works in F2P, then it works. This style of fleeing is not the same as it was back versus normal pkers, but whatever. In F2P, there were very few instances in which you had to worry about getting 3 hit... If you wore full rune, then whoever attacked you would splash often - if they maged you, they would only hit 16s. If they ranged you, the would only hit 18s, and would splash often as well. You would not be frozen, either. This is why revs are overpowered in F2P, whatever the context.
  10. Actually, this sounds very similar to what I had in mind, but I feel like you did a better job explaining it. Thank you. :)
  11. Make it 100 xp for repairing, 500 for blessing, no limitations, and here's why. It costs ~3 prayer to repair, and even then can only be done once every 5 minutes. Even if a player was bent on abusing this for xp in the monastery, they'd still get faster xp collecting bones at the chaos alter in the wildy. Also, upstairs requires a certain prayer level... which btw helps higher levels out. The incentive for someone at a higher level is the x5 for blessing, because it requires 70 prayer. The idea has potential; but don't sign me up as a supporter.
  12. Here's the deal. New weapon/armour updates for melee, range, and even magic threaten to turn PVP into a 2 hit or less KO fest. Any higher hits and PVP will be pure luck, and less skill. I think that this direction is unacceptable. What I propose is similar to the idea that Jagex raises the HP cap - except in a different fashion. Jagex should make a new way to improve armour by giving it HP, similar to shields in many different games. The potential for this idea might be limitless - new ways to use smithing, crafting, prayer, magic, farming, and herblore. Plus, the requirements for this new type of armour could be a combination of HP and Defence. Other features to consider: HP bonus degrades after a certain period of time. Armour is able to be rebuilt for a certain fee. Stuff used to rebuild armour could be new type of drop? Or could be similar to the cornucopia. Armour would be P2P, as F2P doesn't need it. Blood Argon had a better explanation of what I had in mind. Numbers could be fiddled with... Discussion:
  13. Revenants do not represent F2P Pkers. No F2Per ever hit 30+ at a distance, or even consistently hit above 20. No F2Per ever had teleblock, or a freeze for longer than 5 seconds. Any PKer would be stopped by the aggressive spiders in a single way combat. Revenants are not. Stay with us compfreak - this is f2p. No black d'hide. Just green. Most a F2Per ever hit with range was 18 - mage was 16 - and melee was a rare 33. Revenants are overpowered in F2P.
  14. Idk - correct me if I'm wrong. But Noob is from Newbie, as in beginner. I think that the word has evolved to such a point where its just the all encompassing insult. You know, where "Stupid, U Noob" can just hit through any armour, straight to the core. Most of the time the person I call noob is being annoying, or is actually a beginner... If you see me in GOP saying, "Noob, off!" - it probably mean just that, get off my orb because you have no idea what you're doing, hence noob. But remember, until you reach cmb level 60, you're still a noob (unless you're a skiller/have a main.)
  15. Ftw. As much time as I spend on my posts, I should probably spend the same amount on my signature. But now that you pointed it out, its more of a pride thing... I won't change it. Bread ftw.
  16. idk wut u tink guyz cus i dink dat dis grammer stuff izn't cul an all cuz ne1 ken understand wtf is i says u knows nehow i lik 2 typ lik dis jus 4 da record jus 2 pruv a point dat grammer an stuff iz importnt an u relly ned it lemme jus pont out wich off u guyz serisly ned to bck off and stuff an lt tis pur man b. dont flme an stuff mi badd grammer stuff cuz u no dat i no dat u no evry1 dose tis alwayz. o an rite now i be fishn 4 swordfish. If you could understand the gibberish above, either you're a freaking genius or a freaking [developmentally delayed]... I'm not sure which. If you couldn't read it, then I'm sure its point proven. You may understand what you've written, but if in 6 months you come back to it, and you say, wtf is this [cabbage], then your grammar wasn't good enough, and everyone else probably thinks you're a freaking [developmentally delayed]. Oh, and to the supposed main point of this thread, no, users should not be allowed to remove posts on their threads. If I spend 15 minutes on a post, and that post gets deleted without a good reason, you better believe I'm going to be angry. With your problem, you may want to think before you post, read, and reread, and if anything doesn't sound good, rewrite. It may take some time, but you'll definitely see less of - LEARN FREAKING ENGLISH .
  17. 1000 f2p sounds like a good goal. 99 str 70 RC all stats (other than def) above 60.
  18. You can figure out how much raw income they get from F2P and P2P, but when you try and go into costs it gets crazy. F2P may mean they require more servers and more support staff, but it also means they have to spend less on advertising and gives them economies of scale. If you consider it a marketing tool then if it actually makes money then that is a bonus. @zaaps1 - True, there may be more f2p worlds. But lets remember that P2P can use those too (usually for pvp stuffs). @me - What support staff? :P
  19. I made a graph too. It literally took me 10 mins fudging around in excel. Their data doesn't seem to be legit.
  20. I still have not seen the source for the data, I'm still very skeptical of it. Especially because it looks like the graphs and such were made in MS Excel 2007 - it's very easy to make pretty graphs that have proof. Unless of course I see the source with the raw data, and see exactly where the numbers came from, I certainly would not swear on this. The source for the images are from MechScapeWorld - btw this is another fan site. Nothing from this seems credible - some crappy graphs made on MS Excel, posted to another Jagex fansite... Pretty sketch IMO.
  21. Do you have proof?
  22. sees_all1 replied to Jenove's topic in Rants
I HATE WHEN PEOPLE TALK LIKE THIS YOU SHOULD USE BOLD OR UNDERLINE BUT NOT LIKE THIS BECAUSE YOU SEEM LIKE YOU'RE YELLING WHICH YOU PROBabLY ARE BUT WHO CARES KK UNDERSTAND? My only problem with the imp is its impossible to play the Great Orb Project when everyone has their imps out - you can't click anywhere.
  23. This idea that F2P doesn't get Jagex money is absurd, and even if it wasn't, this point is not to be made - See my first post. If you want to rant about how F2Pers just feed off the money of members, make a rant. I don't care, but don't post something that was already deemed "null and void". Jagex will concern itself with its own profits/loses - you don't have to for them. That's great - what is F2P that you are surprised was released F2P? Once again, this thread is more than "What P2P content should F2P get?" - there's also "What F2P content shouldn't have been F2P" or "What are you surprised is F2P?" And also the debate that follows off of that.
  24. Get a decent combat level, and some basic skills, at least 30's on most things. Or, you could get 99 on everything and then join, that way you're sure not to waste any membership time on f2p stuff
  25. Then, to make your posts worthwhile, what is something you're surprised that Jagex keeps giving F2P, or that you think should be exclusively members? This wasn't meant to be another Why can't F2P have ... !?! - there are more discussion points than that.
