I've modified the quest so that it requires at least a total level of about 850, 50 of which is magic, and recommended 50 from hp. I've also modified what Melzar does at the end of the maze, instead of using the normal spellbook against you, he uses spells from the new one. I think this will make it extremely difficult to beat for a F2Per.

I don't think you understood what I was saying. Let me lay it out so you can understand. -I was playing the minigame The Great Orb Project. It is a team game, so when a player doesn't know what they're doing, it hurts the rest of the team. -There was a particular individual who was not able to heed the advice of his teammates - for instance, he would hold onto an orb until it stopped moving, then continued to hang on to it. -I dislike these types of players, the clan I'm in calls them "Idiot fruitcake huggers". Anyhow, I was annoyed at this individual, but I never called him an Idiot fruitcake hugger. -The rest of my team was starting to get annoyed with this individual, so they started to tell him to get off the orb, and play defense on the other team. -The individual, just stood there hugging the orb. -Another person on my team told this individual that he was f***less. The censor did not star out what it should have done. I reported that individual. There was no mod there, so the guy was still able to cuss out the "Idiot fruitcake hugger". I doubt Jagex has yet taken action against the guy who cussed out the hugger. If there was a mod there, not only would the guy have been muted on the spot, but he would probably receive a permanent mute. That would have been an appropriate use of a player moderator. How does this relate to a debate? You're still attacking me, not the point I made. It makes me think that you don't know how to debate, or you've got nothing left to say. I'm not telling you to stop quoting me, I'm telling you to stop quoting individual sentences in some point. You're taking what I say out of context, and when you break a point of 4-5 sentences up into individual quotes and talk about each one, it means either missed the entire point, or you can't disagree with the entire point, so you'll just have to settle with disagreeing with sentences in the point. A silver crown is needed for this? You've missed the point on most of the posts here so you can't accurately read very well. I never said a silver crown was needed for it - But I have said there needs to be an easy way to know if the player is a moderator or not. The title of your thread is PMods - Purpose or Status? - I'm maintaining that player moderators serve a purpose, even if they "snitch" on others to get that status.
-
ever been in a chat with more than 50 people? Its hard to chat with everyone chatting at once. And as far as moderation goes, there's not enough mods to go around as it is. I'm not saying it isn't a bad idea, but moderation and booting spammers may be tough. What if, you had a "vote for boot" option, and to get someone booted from the chat. Limits for booting would be a minimum of 4 people, a scale of 10%, up to 10 people. So, if there's a chat of 100 people, and there's someone spamming @@@@@, and 10 people vote to boot the individual, they're kicked out. And if there's a chat of 6 people, and someone spams @@@@, 4 people must vote to boot the individual. Figure once someone is booted, jagex will get a report for offensive language.

you can add me to the supporters of this idea. I think you'd do well to make a chart of all the new things you can do under this new crafting subsection, called sewing? Ideas would be materials required, experience gained, etc., and whether its F2P or P2P.

@jrhairychest - you still haven't responded to my previous post, I'm wondering if you missed it, or if you can't seem to come up with any good arguments against it. Removal of the crown, or of ALL symbols of modship would create more problems than it would solve. Yes, there are still people that try to pass themselves off as mods to scam another player out of an item. But it is incredibly difficult for them to do so, to dupe another player. Why? Its very easy for anyone to know - hey look, he doesn't have a crown by his name, there's no way he could be a mod. And any player that has wandered into the Stronghold of Security will know that no crown = no mod. Or they've only played for a few hours? Enough to know what a moderator is, but not what to look for, or they don't know what a moderator is, but if someone's telling them - hey look it, I'm a mod, so you better do as I say or I'll give you the mute. In any case, these players that get scammed are the ones hurt the most - it may only be 5k to us, but to them, that's 5000 gold pieces they just lost! If there is no crown, or symbol of a moderator, it would be near impossible for a player passing by to see the scam, and stop it. They wouldn't know if the person was being a jerk and telling the truth, or if the person was scamming.

Can I put you down as a supporter of the spellbook then?
-
That sort of defeats the purpose of calling it the "Grand" Exchange. but, meh, if you can collect items in banks, I don't see why you can't put up offers.

§ The Great Tip Pic of 2009! § ~ FINAL PICTURE RELEASED! ~
sees_all1 replied to SomeWelshGuy's topic in General Discussion
Forum Name: Sees_all1 RS Name: Sees_all1 Name to use on picture: Sees_all1 Picture: Link: http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d120/ ... sees_3.png Please make me about 1/2 size as everyone else, to keep consistency with last year :P -
I thought the requirements were pretty tough, things needed for F2Pers: -Almost all quests are required to be complete for both F2P and P2P: -50 runecrafting (a very difficult requirement in itself) -4000 GOP tokens (worth about 44x4000=176k or 150x4000=660k) -3000 FoG rating (that's at least 100 games played, and won) -Explorer's ring 3 -Dragon Slayer completed Aside from that, I do like your idea of minimum total level, but how to implement that into the quest may be difficult... what if Melzar's spell decreases ALL of your levels, starting with attack, then strength, then prayer, ... with magic and hitpoints being last, until 600 levels have been taken away? That way, if you have 50 HP, 50 Mage, but only 680 total levels, your magic would then become 30... making it near impossible to do the maze? Let me know what you think.

I wasn't explicitly talking about your spellbook, there are about 3-4 of these things in the suggestions forum. But yes, now that you mention it, I do think your spellbook is [cabbage]. Here's the thing though - when pking, how many meleers use Stun, Enfeeble, or Vulnerability? Not many? Oh, I see. How about, how many mages in P2P use wave spells when pking? Not many? Oh, hmm. Sure, recharging can help melee. Just like Entangle, or Teleblock can help melee. But I'll bet a melee will find that prayer potions are more useful, because they take less space, less time. And as far as shielding goes, there's a high chance that would fail for anyone who doesn't have a mage bonus. And since rangers and melees have negative mage bonuses, the probability it would go through is almost none. The quest wasn't designed to be impossible, either. Any high leveled person shouldn't have trouble doing quests. The quests requirements make it so some F2Per can't create a secondary account and use it strictly for PKing. With 50 runecrafting, 40 defense, and 30 crafting, and virtually ALL the F2P quests requiring to be done, most F2P pure PK magic accounts won't be able to use it. So quit flaming because your idea hasn't received any good feedback - put more effort into it.
-
Thanks for your support - I already had a quest idea in mind, so I've posted that. I really liked the idea of collecting pages, I did think of that. I also like the idea of having to have played GOP, and have 50 rc level to obtain it. -I'll credit you with those ideas.

25th February 2009-Random Event Update and More
sees_all1 replied to psvstef's topic in General Discussion
I'm all f2p - but I just got the pillory random. Are they all f2p now? -
If you're going to make a comment, at least make an intelligent one. In this spellbook: 6 teleport spells 12 "skill/other" spells 28 combat spells. So, no. Not even close to "most spells" that help other skills. There might be only 4 pulse spells, but that doesn't mean the others aren't combat spells.

I see, so you work for Jagex then to know this is the gospel truth. After all people on here accuse me of making things up. Most go looking for reports in busy worlds. Obviously you'll have read the previous posts about world 2 so I need go no further. Quit being an idiot about this - if you ever talk to the town crier NPC, you'll see this is exactly what it says. I'm quoting Jagex on this one, you're quoting no one. Quit trying to put the burden of proof on us, just because your logic is flawed and your conclusions are full of holes. I just gave you one of many examples. In any event, that person getting a mute right then and there would have been appropriate, and would have served the purpose of a player mod quite well. Considering how high and mighty you claim to be and how dishonourable I am for challenging mods, calling players names like this does not help at all. If you called him this in game then you're baiting. Don't profess to be a goody goody on one hand then make up your own rules with another. For everyone else who didn't see this, this flaw in persuasion is called argumentum ad hominem. The only reason I said "idiot fruitcake hugger" is because that's how I felt about this individual that was cussed out. You're also taking what I said out of context. Why did I have to state that - everyone was a bit peeved at this individual, but here was the only person to cuss them out. ... "a bad dose of sensitivity" - is that why we report people? Because we're too sensitive? No, its because someone broke the rules, and the right thing to do is report them. Quit breaking my points up and taking what I've said out of context. It gets really annoying. Whenever I have a point, it contains one idea. I format my posts so there isn't a wall of text, and whitespace breaks up points. When you break an idea down, it means you're not getting what I'm saying and you're just looking for the sound bit to "nail me on" so you can proclaim that you're automagically right. No they don't. Does muting someone who floods/spams the chatbox with @@@@@ make the game better for everyone? How about muting someone who uses autotalk? Or what about reporting scammers, and other rule breakers, and have their reports go through faster because Jagex knows they're accurate? I've given examples where Pmods serve a purpose, so you can't accurately make that generic statement anymore.

At one point in time, I was buying and selling rune scimitars. I kept buying low, and selling high... until they refused to sell on the G.E. I went away for a weekend, with them priced as low as possible, but they never sold, and the price became out of the range. It lost me about 200k - but at that time, that was 1/6 of my wealth. I was upset, selling at lowest wouldn't lower the price. This idea needs a little more work, explaining the mechanism, but if its as I understand it now, I would support it. Just need a little author clarification.

Actually, I rather enjoyed your post. Its been a while since someone has taken up the other side of the debate - while providing good reasons for what they say, or specific examples. It went beyond - "you're f2p so shut up and be thankful you get anything". If you notice, without rune runners, RC is nearly impossible to train. Figure that there's only about 15 at most players in F2P with 99 in it - and if jagex didn't give additional content, no one would ever make it past 90 again. You'll also remember that with the introduction of the RC guild, price of ess skyrocketed to nearly 80 gp per, and that wasn't for the pure essense, either. You'll also have notice that the price for nature runes has fallen to about 220 gp per nat, and I would blame GOP, and pouches for this. As far as FoG is concerned, it makes it easier for a F2Per to train mage, keep in mind that deaths cost nearly 300 gp each, which is more than blood runes. That means that the best f2p spell can hit is 16, and costs more than some of the other p2p spells that hit 20. I think FoG needs to be fixed for rangers also, but that is a problem with FoG and not the F2P content debate Thank you for your response. -sees

HISTORICAL VERSION OF THE SPELLBOOK: RSOF QFC: 83-84-878-58649629 PLEASE add your support there - that is where a Jmod will see it. Forward: It's been a while since this was originally posted. As you can see, this spellbook has been modified significantly since the first one I posted. A quest has also been added, making this idea pretty much complete. Unless there is a serious error in the spellbook, I will no longer modify it. I am somewhat reluctant to modify the quest, but there is a suggestion to make it longer, more difficult. I will look into that. I am willing to modify the rewards of the quest, especially the bonuses of the new armour, and their respective prices. Here is a list of the people that have made contributions to the spellbook: Sees_all1, ,"pureprayer", joe_da_studd, zaaps1, zelda123456, "Kolgan", rida81, Asmodeous4, Juhniz, killerwatt50, "Lacesso", B R LL T A L. This spellbook attempts to do a few things: 1. Stop Player Jumpers from hitting you when you're about to beat an opponent 2. Give use to other skills, and not just have a completely PVP spellbook 3. Make F2P mage able to beat F2P melee again, while still keeping a triangle 4. Make it difficult to hybrid with the new spells and new robes. 5. Remain balanced to keep mage from beating range. Below the current spellbook, there is a big hide of the previous edition, and links to pictures of the previous spellbook and icons. A List of supporters will be maintained at the bottom of this book. I consider positive feedback as support. If I modify any of this because of you, I will add you to the supporters list and "thanks to" list. Please do not bump this thread anymore here - bumping the RSOF version is much more appreciated. In case you haven't noticed, this is a long read. Please read at least the entire spellbook before posting, or bashing a single spell, and if you bash a single spell, have good reasons with evidence to back it up. Since this quest and spellbook is F2P, all the tasks had to be accomplished with current f2p stuff. I think the things required for this quest are appropriate, and it decreases the chance of just a pure mage account unlocking the reward - It helps stop lower levels from achieving a spellbook that isn't meant for them. Requirements: -Completion of Rune Mysteries -Completion of Imp Catcher -Completion of Dragon Slayer -Need explorers ring 3 -Need at least 50 magic -Need 50 runecrafting -Need 40 defense -Need 30 crafting or someone to assist you -Need AT LEAST 750 total levels that aren't magic or hit points. [hide=Quest (short version)]Start by talking to Wizard Grayzag in the Wizard's tower. Tell him you want to learn more about magic, or something of that nature. -He's still upset over the imp catcher thing, requires you to bring him: 5 cabbages from Draynor 25 pure essence 100 death runes 2 wizards mind bombs. Note: none of these items can be noted. -Not so upset after that, tells you he and a few others have been experimenting with some new spells. -Tells you the spells are pretty dangerous, and a few mishaps have occurred. Some of the spells work well, and he'll help you learn those. -Wizard Grayzag gives you a binding for your new spellbook, but there's no pages! -Tells you the people that have been working on the spells Wizard Korvak in the RC Guild Malignus Mortifer Aggie the Witch Reggie, in the FoG minigame. Wizard Korvak -Yes, he has a page. No, he won't give it to you for free. -Its too dangerous, besides, how do you think he got all messed up? -Anyhow, he fancies a set of green runecrafting gloves and hat, but can't get them because of Wizard Elriss. (Requires 2000 RC guild tokens) Once you have a set of green gloves and hat, he gives you a package. Instructs you to take it to the Wise Old Man, in draynor. The Wise Old Man gives you a note to take back to Wizard Korvak. Wizard Korvak gives you the 1st page for your book. Malignus Mortifer -needs you to bring him 20 big bones, 20 cosmic runes, 100 chaos runes, and 3 zamorak wines. -gives you a package to take to the Wise Old Man, the WOM gives you a note to take back to him. -Malignus Mortifer sees your lumbridge explorer ring, wants one of those in gold (meaning you need a lumbridge ring 3). You must give him the ring to get the 2nd page. As a side note, Ned will no longer give you a ring until you cast IMPAIR on him. -Malignus Mortifer gives you the 2nd page. Aggie -Tells you she gave the page to Hetty, in Rimmington. -Hetty tells you she gave the page to Betty, in Port Sarim -Betty tells you she never got the page, and Hetty must still have it. -Hetty tells you the page must have been stolen, by none other than Melzar himself. -She gives you a Maze key, tells you that you must get the page back from Melzar -Upon entering the Maze, Melzar casts a spell on you that drains 750 levels off your total level. It begins with attack, strength, range, then all member stats, then all f2p stats, finishing with defense, prayer, magic, then hit points. -Must go through the maze as you did the in Dragon Slayer, and defeat Melzar again. -Since Melzar has part of the new spellbook, he'll use some spells from it, including Air Pulse, Fire Pulse, Cement, Super Sheath, Super Shield and Hasten. This will make it EXTREMELY difficult to beat him. -Melzar drops the page, except its in a weird language. -Give the Page to Hetty - she tells you that she'll decode it only if you take a package to the WOM. WOM gives you another note. -Hetty gives you the page again. Reggie -Tells you that you've got to get permission from Fiara -Fiara only gives permission once you obtain for her 100 FoG tokens, OR have 1500 or more FoG rating, OR get more than 3k charges in one game, to prove you're trustworthy. -Reggie gives you a package for the WOM, another note -Reggie tells you you've got to find the page inside the waiting area, that's where he's hidden it. -Page will be in some random spot. You put the spellbook together, it needs to be bound. Need to bind the spellbook with thread, and 30 crafting. Gives 100 crafting experience. You read the new spellbook, but none of the stuff inside makes sense. Perhaps you should talk to the Wise Old Man to get it sorted out? Wise Old Man Give the bounded spellbook to the WOM. He translates it for you, and unlocks the Contemporary Spellbook! You will need to gather information from my associates who have been working on the spells. See them personally, and collect whatever they have to offer You: Who are these people? Now, about this information... Korvak: Yes, let me see if I can offer it to you Korvak: Wait, the voices in my head are telling me... no You: Why ever not Korvak: This is dangerous stuff to deal with. Danger is a no-no. (a)You: Good luck getting a pair Korvak: Indeed, except Elriss won't let me partake of that fabulous game You: Your insanity probably confounds the equipment in some way Korvak: No, it involves a particularly bad mishap at the mind altar You: Goodbye, Korvak (b)You: I suppose you want help obtaining a set? Korvak: No, nothing of the sort! Korvak: But I don't suppose you happen to have a spare set lying around? You: What?! Korvak: But I bet this information would be worth so much more ... what I'd give for one of those pretty staves - You: I'll be back, before you change your mind Korvak: AND A HAT! We need a hat too! Wasn't the first task errand enough? Korvak: Do I look like a sane, reasonable character? You: What do you require? Korvak: I need to make a small delivery to some one called the Wise Old Man. Seeing as I'm not even allowed out of the guild house, you'll have to do this for me You: Alright then ___________ You: I have a delivery for you WOM: For me? From whom? You: Wizard Korvak, from the Runecrafting Guild WOM: Ah, Korvak. Such a fine lad WOM: Pity about the "incident" You: Anyway, as I was saying... WOM: Yes, let me see that. WOM: Mmhmm, yes... WOM: Per request of Wizard Korvak, I need you to play delivery boy again. Here, bring him this note, and that should settle things You: Gladly will! _______________ You: Korvak, the Wise Old Man asked me to give this to you Korvak: Bless him. Malignus: I need some reagents to finish somethings I've been working on. Yes, they are of utmost import Options: (a)Good luck with that, then (b)I suppose you want some help with this? (a)You: Good luck with that, then Malignus: Indeed. Good day to you too (b)You: I suppose you want some help with this? Malignus: Such would be most appreciated Malignus: I require the following items: 20 sets of big bones, 3 jugs of Zamorakian wine, 20 cosmic runes, and 20 chaos runes. You: Malignus Mortifer WOM: The necromancer? Let me see that WOM: Alright, [player name]. You will need to take this note to Malignus now. I've inscribed it with magical energy, and you'll need to wear a Lumbridge Explorer's Ring before you can hold onto it. [if wearing ring] WOM: Here you go [if not] You: I'll be back with one _____________________ Malignus: I see you have the delivery, let me see that... You: Careful with it, the Wise Old Man said it was quite dangerous Malignus: I realise that, and I was checking to see how it did not manage to harm you You: Apparently it's thanks to this ring I'm wearing Malignus: Hmm, I wonder Malignus: I am sorry, [player name], but I have another request to make of you. I would like that ring you are wearing, to conduct some.. experiments Options: (a)Sorry, I quite like it on my finger (b)Well I suppose you may have it (a)You: Sorry, I quite like it on my finger Malignus: That is a pity. I should have to hold onto this page first, until you are willing to part with it, as I am this page (b)You: Well I suppose you may have it Malignus: Excellent, go on and have this page now *Malignus Mortifer has given you a Book Page!* You: Thank you very much Malignus: No.. thank you. _________________ You: Aggie, I believe you have some information about some new spells Grayzag talked about? Aggie: I'm afraid I gave this valuable page to a fellow witch, who is looking into its writings as we speak You: Who was it? Aggie: Oh, I believe it was Hetty in Rimmington You: Thank you, I'll look into it You: Hetty, I believe you have a particular magical page which Aggie gave to you? Hetty: Indeed I know of the page you talk of, but I have finished with it, and per her request have sent it to Betty in Port Sarim You: I'll look into that then. Thank you, Hetty You: Betty, I believe you have a particular magical page which Hetty sent to you? Betty: Nothing of the sort, my adventuring friend You: Huh? Betty: Hetty has yet to send me the page, I myself am looking quite forward to reading it. I suggest you go back to Hetty to clear things up; she's getting up in the years and forgetting things these days You: I will. Thank you, Betty You: Hetty, Betty says she has not received your page yet Hetty: Ooh, that is quite a problem You: How so? Hetty: Surely you have heard of Melzar the Mad? You: I've beaten him up a few times, so yes Hetty: Ah, he's a mighty fine wizard, only problem is that he went insane from a small matter.. It is likely that he intercepted the page, sensing the inherent power it holds Options: (a)Yuck, I don't really feel like seeing that mad wizard again (b)Is there anything we can do about it? (a)You: Yuck, I don't really feel like seeing that mad wizard again Hetty: Then I am afraid we shall not see that page again soon. Talk to me again when you do, [player name] (b)You: Is there anything we can do about it? Hetty: Only one thing *Hetty hands you a shining silver key. It looks awfully familiar* Hetty: I'm afraid you'll have to face him and retrieve the page You: That shouldn't be a problem Hetty: Well, with the greater power he now wields with that page, I might say that he could well be a match for you You: Oh great. What should I do? Hetty: Seeing as you are a fairly versed adventurer, I'd say you should be able to take him on. A word of caution, though - I'd strongly advise you to bring some magical spells of your own to fight him with. His powers now could severely damage your other battle skills, along with pretty much all your other abilities You: I see. Thank you, Hetty ________________ [upon entering maze] Melzar: Hahaha! Foolish adventurer, this maze shall be your grave! *You feel severely weakened, as if all your skills are draining to nothing* [Defeat Melzar] You: This must be the page Hetty spoke of You: It's in some odd language, I can't understand a thing! [Return to Hetty] You: Hetty, I have the page, but it is in some strange writing! Hetty: Yes it is, that is why I require a small favour from you You: What is it? Hetty: Bring this package to the Wise Old Man, and I will gladly decode this for you You: I'll be on it _____________ You: I have a delivery for you WOM: For me? From whom? Reggie: Ah yes, the rogue wizard Grayzag... and I do possess this knowledge. What do you require? You: I was hoping I'd be able to obtain the information from you Reggie: Such information holds great power, and only should belong to those who truly realise how dear it is. I am sorry, [player name], but I cannot part with this valuable parchment, unless Fiara grants you permission to it You: You mean the earwig? Reggie: Indeed, the servant of Guthix. Now go, I have things to attend to You: Fiara, do you know about Reggie's page? Fiara: (Yes I do, [player name], and he has sworn on me not to part with it, until a deserving adventurer gains my permission) You: How would I go about obtaining your permission? Fiara: (Indeed, you do not waste time at all. I shall give you my blessings, only once you have shown dedication in this arena) (a)Running around with a stupid stone? No thank you! (b)How can I show this? (a)You: Running around with a stupid stone? No thank you! Fiara: (I cannot be swayed so easily, mortal. Speak to me again when you change your mind) (b)You: How can I show this? Fiara: (The druids delight in your combat and survival prowess in the arena. I will have to set an arbitrary goal which they will understand) Fiara: (You have a choice; Either obtain 100 of their "tokens", or be rated with their "score" of 1500 or above. Only then will I recognise you as a friend to the followers of Guthix.) Fiara: (Also, if at any time you obtain in a game 3000 or more charges, see me immediately afterwards, and I'll consider it enough.) Fiara: (Talk to me when you meet any of these challenges) You: I will begin this undertaking, then _______________________ You: I have succeeded in your challenges, and let me tell you, they weren't easy Fiara: (Indeed, human. WOM: Well, [player name], I see you have completed your new spellbook! You: Yes, but I've tried reading it, and none of it seems to make sense to me. I need your deeper understanding to help me with this WOM: That is not a problem. To thank you for all your help, let me translate this into a more understandable text *The Wise Old Man starts writing onto a parchment. He slips this into the book* WOM: That should help you You: Thank you very much! *You read the book with the Wise Old Man's helpful note* *You feel an arcane wisdom filling your mind* WOM: That should do it, you have unlocked what we scholars in magic call the Contemporary Spellbook. I'll be taking that book from you now, this knowledge must be returned to those who have worked hard on it You: Uhm, I have a small problem WOM: Oh, what is it? You: When bargaining with Malignus for his page, I gave away my Explorer's Ring to him... WOM: You should learn to better value your possessions. Ned is unlikely to give you another one WOM: At least, not without some "convincing" You: How would I got about that? Talk to the Wise Old Man to change to the Contemporary Spell, Talk to the Magic Tutor to switch back to the normal spellbook.[/hide] [hide=Previous Edition... for legacy purposes]Forward: Wow, I can't believe the spellbook has gotten this far! If you're here at this thread (from my signature), I bet you're expecting another "Wah Wah Wah" - give F2P more stuff, or another overpowered set of spells. Well, I hope you don't find this here. I've tried to incorporate as many suggestions as possible to ensure this spellbook is balanced. If something rubs you the wrong way, or you've got a particular beef with an individual spell, PLEASE tell me about it, and why you think it needs to be changed! That said, there are 3 basic goals to this spellbook: 1. Make F2P mage able to beat F2P melee again, while still keeping a triangle 2. Stop PJers from hitting you when you're about to beat an opponent 3. Not to just have combat in mind - to give useful spells to other skills. Right now I'm working on the rewards of the quest - I'd like to personally thank Saradomin_Mage for the wonderful dialogue. This idea is far from complete, but the only thing I'm looking for is support for the spellbook. So, let me take a crack at it: (I'm still looking for 3-4 teleports to member's only areas, if you have any ideas, please post!) I think its got some good stuff for F2P, P2P and is balanced like the original set. I did think of a quest to get this spellbook (although it doesn't have to be the quest to get it. The spellbook right now has been tweaked quite a bit, and I believe its fairly balanced right now. The Quest rewards still needs work though.) QUEST (Short Version) Introduction: This quest was meant to be a LONG and somewhat DIFFICULT quest, because the rewards of the quest are so GREAT! I didn't write the Dialogue between characters, if anyone wants to take that up, go for it. I find that during quests I never read the dialogue anyway. Since this quest is F2P, all the tasks had to be accomplished with current f2p stuff. Start by talking to Wizard Grayzag in the Wizard's tower. -Anyhow, he fancies a set of green runecrafting robes, but can't get them because of Wizard Elriss. (Requires 4000 RC guild tokens) Once you have a set of green runecrafting robes, he gives you a package. Reggie -Tells you that you've got to get permission from Fiara -Fiara only gives permission once you obtain for her 400 FoG tokens, or have 3000 or more FoG rating, to prove you're trustworthy. He also tells you to get your ring back, you need to cast Impair on Ned. Options: (a) So why haven't you unleashed them upon the world yet? (<img src='http://forum.tip.it/ipbnew/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='B)' /> Ooh! Would you mind teaching me a few? (a)You: So why haven't you unleashed them upon the world yet? Grayzag: A small issue of total annihilation You: Of your enemies? Grayzag: No, ourselves You: What?! Grayzag: These spells are dangerous, you should learn not to trifle with them Grayzag: A few of my associates have had several of their assistants getting... Grayzag: I can assure you it was nothing nice You: That sounds nasty Grayzag: Pah, at least we know now which spells are off limits. We're working hard now to perfect usage of the rest (leads to (<img src='http://forum.tip.it/ipbnew/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='B)' />) (b)You: Ooh! Would you mind teaching me a few? Grayzag: Patience is required in this matter. While a mage of your caliber should be able to use the spells, it will take a bit more effort on your behalf to learn their usage Grayzag: Take this binding, it will hold the information you need to learn these new tricks *Grayzag hands you what looks like the binding of a book* You: ...This is empty Grayzag: An astute observation. You will need to gather information from my associates who have been working on the spells. See them personally, and collect whatever they have to offer You: Who are these people? Grayzag: They are Wizard Korvak, Malignus Mortifer, Aggie and Reggie Options: - Where can I find them? (Gives details on how to get to each) (a) I'd best be off then (a)You: I'd best be off then Grayzag: Good luck, young conjuror You: Korvak, I believe you have some information about some new spells Grayzag talked about? Korvak: Indeed I do, my little pretty princess/prince (whichever you're not) You: Hey! I'm a man/woman! (whichever you are) Korvak: Not that it changes anything You: Whatever. Now, about this information... Korvak: Yes, let me see if I can offer it to you Korvak: Wait, the voices in my head are telling me... no You: Why ever not Korvak: This is dangerous stuff to deal with. Danger is a no-no. You: I'm already a fairly accomplished mage, you know Korvak: What does that make me? You: *thinks to self: An insane, raving lunatic?* You: I don't suppose anything could change the voices in your head? Korvak: Now that you mention it, the voices tell me that a set of Green Runecrafter Robes look incredibly dashing Options: (a)Good luck getting a pair (b)I suppose you want help obtaining a set? (a)You: Good luck getting a pair Korvak: Indeed, except Elriss won't let me partake of that fabulous game You: Your insanity probably confounds the equipment in some way Korvak: No, it involves a particularly bad mishap at the mind altar You: Goodbye, Korvak (b)You: I suppose you want help obtaining a set? Korvak: No, nothing of the sort! Korvak: But I don't suppose you happen to have a spare set lying around? You: What?! Korvak: But I bet this information would be worth so much more ... what I'd give for one of those pretty staves - You: I'll be back, before you change your mind Korvak: Take your time, I'm a potrait of mental stability Korvak: Ooh, sparklies! You: Here, I have a set of those green robes for you Korvak: For me? You: Yes. I thought you wanted them? Korvak: No, the voices in my head did You: *sigh* I don't suppose you have the information I requested? Korvak: Indeed I do. But first, a small errand You: What?! Wasn't the first task errand enough? Korvak: Do I look like a sane, reasonable character? You: What do you require? Korvak: I need to make a small delivery to some one called the Wise Old Man. Seeing as I'm not even allowed out of the guild house, you'll have to do this for me You: Alright then You: I have a delivery for you WOM: For me? You: Korvak, the Wise Old Man asked me to give this to you Korvak: Bless him. Here we go Korvak: Ah yes, this is the stuff. Here we go, I won't need this anymore *Wizard Korvak has given you a Book Page!* You: Thank you very much Korvak: Any time m'lady/m'lord You: I'm.. oh never mind You: Malignus, I believe you have some information about some new spells Grayzag talked about? Malignus: Ah, Grayzag. Ever too willing to let anyone in on something of this proportion. You: Is that a yes then? Malignus: Indeed it is. But I shall not grant it to you as of yet You: Oh, why not? Malignus: I need some reagents to finish somethings I've been working on. Yes, they are of utmost import Options: (a)Good luck with that, then (b)I suppose you want some help with this? (a)You: Good luck with that, then Malignus: Indeed. Good day to you too (b)You: I suppose you want some help with this? Malignus: Such would be most appreciated Malignus: I require the following items: 20 sets of big bones, 3 jugs of Zamorakian wine, 20 cosmic runes, and 20 chaos runes. And please, do not trouble me with those pieces of paper. I don't deal with bankers. You: I'll be back You: I brought you some [number] of [item] Malignus: Thank you very much Malignus: That is all I need, now I need to trust you with a delivery You: What now? Malignus: Take this package to the Wise Old Man. That is all You: I'll get to it then You: I have a delivery for you WOM: For me? From whom? You: Malignus Mortifer WOM: The necromancer? Let me see that WOM: Alright, [player name]. You will need to take this note to Malignus now. I've inscribed it with magical energy, and you'll need to wear a Lumbridge Explorer's Ring before you can hold onto it. [if wearing ring] WOM: Here you go [if not] You: I'll be back with one Malignus: I see you have the delivery, let me see that... I should have to hold onto this page first, until you are willing to part with it, as I am this page (b)You: Well I suppose you may have it Malignus: Excellent, go on and have this page now *Malignus Mortifer has given you a Book Page!* You: Thank you very much Malignus: No.. thank you. You: Aggie, I believe you have some information about some new spells Grayzag talked about? Aggie: Oh, there's a wizard who's sticking his thumb into quite a pie You: Well, may I have this information? Thank you, Hetty [upon entering maze] Melzar: Hahaha! Hetty: Bring this package to the Wise Old Man, and I will gladly decode this for you You: I'll be on it You: I have a delivery for you WOM: For me? From whom? You: Hetty, the witch from Rimmington WOM: Oh, her. I suppose I should see the goods WOM: Alright, thank you very much. Bring this note back to Hetty and it should be sorted out You: Excellent You: Hetty, the Wise Old Man told me to give this to you Hetty: Thank you for your efforts, [player name]. Here, I can now decode your precious page *Hetty has given you a Book Page!* You: Thank you very much Hetty: No problem, dearie You: Reggie, I believe you have some information about some new spells Grayzag talked about? I will have to set an arbitrary goal which they will understand) Fiara: (You have a choice; Either obtain 400 of their "tokens", or be rated with their "score" of 3000 or above. Only then will I recognise you as a friend to the followers of Guthix.) Fiara: (Talk to me when you meet any of these challenges) You: I will begin this undertaking, then You: I have succeeded in your challenges, and let me tell you, they weren't easy Fiara: (Indeed, human. You have earned my trust, and my permission. Tell Reggie, and he will supply you with the information you need) You: Thank you, Fiara You: Reggie, I have earned the permission of Fiara Reggie: Really? Well, I suppose you'll be ready to take on another small errand You: Ugh, what now Reggie: I need you to bring this to that old man in Draynor. You know, the Wise Old Man You: I'll get to it You: I have a delivery for you WOM: For me? From whom? You: From Reggie, one of those druids in the Wilderness WOM: Reggie you say. Let me see what he has WOM: Ah, this is fine indeed. This is what you will need; bring it back to Reggie You: Reggie, the Wise Old Man told me to give this to you Reggie: Ah, that shall settle this. I have stashed the page away in a safe place; You'll find it in the waiting room for the arena [After searching through the training equipment in the waiting room] *You have found Reggie's Book Page!* [Assembling the book] *You put the pages into the binding, now you need to bind the book with some thread* *You use your crafting skill and some thread to bind the book pages with the binding* [Reading the book] You: Ah, now we shall see what knowledge this tome holds *You read the tome* You: None of this makes sense to me at all... I think I need the help of someone with more magical education You: Hetty could decode the page after I gave her that note from the Wise Old Man; perhaps I need to seek his help with this You: Hello there! WOM: This new spellbook should help; a well-aimed spell of Impairment should mess with his head enough to sort you out another ring You: Ah, good to know WOM: Thank you again for your help with this spellbook. Talk to me again, should you need to swap back to your Modern Magic spellbook for whatever reason, or if you need to read the book again Quest Complete! And If the Evil Tree had a way to block the magic of Sharpen Axe? Well, it only works for bones, gp, food or potions. I'm not familiar with either Imp boxes or pack yaks - do these provide similar functions? Do these give more experience? The blaze spell would set 1 log on fire for 1/3 of the experience you would normally get with a tinderbox. So if these significantly boost the experience, blaze would significantly reduce the experience. Are there any areas you'd like a teleport spell to go to? I figured Apparate and Super Apparate were pretty useful, as they are teleports. Also, I'm not P2P, so I don't know which areas are useful. If you could help me out on that, I'd appreciate it. Rattle and Wilt were meant to fix F2P mage - the best a F2P mage can do is -5%, and I think -10% is needed. Does Karil's Set effect stack? I figure that in order for a mage to beat a melee, they shouldn't be able to run away. Also, the -50% wouldn't stack, and no one would cast it twice. I could lower the amount that praise works - how about to 25% or 15, whichever is lower? Or, the amount of times it could be used should be lowered to once per hour? Ancients can hit up to 30, have 2 spells combo at once, and each spell in itself causes a special effect. The best a pulse spell could do is hit 22 - or 33 if awareness was cast, but even then your defense would be severely lowered, and your accuracy would be trashed. With Hurricane / Tempest, the effect only lasts for 20 or 30 casts, and I suppose I could make it lower the max hit, and accuracy. I suppose I could also slow up the speeds a bit, make tempest -25%, and hurricane -40%. I figured this might have made it about the same as ancients. Thank you for your feedback, and I hope you'll help me improve the spellbook.[/hide]

New high lvled powerful mage spellbook!

Have you noticed that your last 2 posts have been removed? Quit bumping your own thread. If people thought it was a good idea, they'd say, support, or something of the like. Otherwise, they're looking for it to fall to the bottom of the pile, or they have nothing to say about it. -

Holiday Musings and a permanent solution to rares
sees_all1 replied to Jard_Y_Dooku's topic in General Discussion
By this, you're saying that the number of rares can only shrink. And you're also saying this is a problem. I'd like to know, why is this a problem? What makes it problematic? As the human population expands, but the earth is still a fixed size, the amount of land per person will shrink. The amount of gold per person will shrink. The amount of oil for people will shrink. The amount of sunlight per person will shrink. Why is this a problem? What you're dealing with here is simple economics, and the law of scarcity. So an item is scarce, why is that a problem? If the problem is that there won't be any left, then you should make an account, merchant til you own a few rares, and then sit on them for 10 years. Make it so we never have that problem, that there will always be rares in the game. What about the players that have done every holiday event up until now, that has every holiday reward, and they still have their account because they haven't been banned yet? I submit that having that type of an account is a reward for good behavior. I will never, ever, ever, EVER be able to own a scythe, or a scarf, or whatever, but does it bother me? No, why should it? A player with one of those holiday items SHOULD BE RESPECTED because they've had an account AT LEAST since then, and they haven't been banned yet. I've actually got an level 15? completely F2P account that still has a skull. Are you telling me that all level 15, f2p players should be allowed to get skulls because I've got one? It's about the same level as saying EVERYONE should be allowed to have holiday events to make EVERYONE equal. Well, I'd like you to know that's communism, and its a failed practice. -
eh, I wouldn't mind if they expanded it to all skills, even though that wasn't how it was intended.

A doctor helps people... Whaaaaa...? Your title can be Dr. without actually being a physician. In fact, the majority of people with doctorates aren't physicians. Do you know what graduate school is? How about people with doctorates in chemistry, physics, psychology, education, engineering, etc. Do they all, automatically help people because of their status as doctors? And who said a mod doesn't work hard to get status, and that reporting rule breakers doesn't help keep the game honest? As in, help the game in general, to keep it clean? I've read some of your arguments, but making a blanket statement about ALL moderators not wanting to be moderators without their star is quite ignorant on your part. In fact, making any blanket statement about moderators is going to be wrought with exceptions. I can tell you that when deciding who to be a moderator, jagex looks at the quality of the reports, not the quantity. Which also means that when they're considering someone to be a mod, they're not looking for someone who baits other players, just for free reports. In fact, people that bait others usually end up breaking the rules themselves, so they wouldn't become moderators. I can also tell you if there was no such thing as modship, I would still report rule breakers like I do now. I don't report people to become a mod, I report people that clearly break the rules, and that make my gaming experience worse because of it. When I was playing the Great Orb Project, there was an idiot fruitcake hugger. Its hard to deal with these people, but someone on my team called them something along the lines of f***less. Except the censor didn't catch that. I reported that player. When I reported that player, was I "snitching"? You tell me. I will say though that I hope that player gets muted, because there was nothing that warranted that type of language, and if they'd use it in small matters, imagine what they'd do in bigger matters. When I reported that player, did I think, "OOOO goody Jagex will make me a mod"? Absolutely not. Do I want a silver star for doing that? Absolutely not. Here's another question for you - What is the purpose of that silver star? Its to let people know that, this person IS a mod, and that if they tell you to do something, you'd better do it, otherwise the consequences could be as swift as an instant 24hr mute. It also prevents people from scamming others - You'd better give me 20k, because I'm a mod. The best they can do is say, "my other account" or "my best friend". You say the only reason people want to be mods is for the silver star, and thus they don't serve a purpose. I say, regardless the reason for wanting to be a mod, they still serve a purpose.

I was figuring that's how it would be obtained, but as far what goes into writing a quest - IDK. I'm not very good with dialogue either, all those witty parallelisms or puns. As far as the meat of the tasks in the quest - collecting research from all sorts of people? Killing a new F2P boss with the current spell books? Figure with such an awesome reward like this, there needs to be some pretty difficult tasks, as hard or even harder than the current dragon slayer tasks. Well, I'll work on that. -Sees

well, there are certain keyboards, espescially in european countries, that have a mu on them. There was in fact a picture of this keyboard on one of the other threads on the general discussion. Also, the first person to find the glitch probably was talking about mu-torrent, or talking about chemistry, or talking about physics when it happened. Then they were probably like, what the heck? and tried it again, and again for confirmation purposes. That would give enough to merit a bug report. Then they probably told their friends, which is a big no-no. And that's how it spread. Keep in mind that you didn't have to be in a pvp world to kill players with mu.

Lots of buzz over the past 12 hours, with many recent, and different viewpoints on how to approach the aftermath of the situation. With Penguin Bannings still fresh in our minds, what do you think jagex should do to deal with this fresh, new bug abuse? Things to consider: -A server rollback affects ALL players, including ones that weren't initially affected by µ. All data would be wiped from the last save point, which could have been ages ago. -IP Banning everyone who used µ, even just to "test it out" may be seen as unfair to those who legitimately, accidentally entered it in. -This is a clear case of Bug Abuse, a big No-No in Jagex's eyes. -People have lost items in PvP situations, but Jagex hasn't been known to give items back. When posting, please keep it to: Jagex should do this... and refrain from Jagex will do this, or won't do this. Also keep in mind that the difficulty of the suggestion shouldn't be considered, for instance, it may be incredibly difficult to find all players with qwerty keyboards under the age of 12 in their mothers basement, who don't have a functioning number pad - that told someone else about the glitch as soon as he realized it - but if your suggestion is, all players in that situation should receive 3 blackmarks because spreading the bug abuse is as bad as using it yourself - go for it. Lastly, if you're going to disagree with someone, please provide logical reasoning behind your disagreement. Putting in a thoughtful suggestion is rather difficult, and simply posting "that won't work" as a response is irritating. Lets have a good debate! My idea: Anyone who entered µ into the chatbox more than 3 times should receive at least 1 blackmark, unless they sent in a bug report. Anyone who entered µ into the chatbox while in a PVP or dangerous situation after entering it more than 3 times should be permanently banned. Anyone who spread the alt codes to other characters IN GAME should receive at least 1 blackmark. Anyone who lost a large amount of items, or a large amount of value due to the bug abuse should be given the option to "revert to their last saved profile" - that is, they lose all xp in the given time period, but they gain back their items. That way, people don't abuse reverting, and it will only happen for the most grave of circumstances.
