  1. I'm thinkin' it'll be a new continent or somethin'. Someone on the BTS thread mentioned boats. That'd be nice. I seriously cannot comprehend how dumb some people are. RS has been 3D for 3 and a half years, counting.

Dungeon Runners is a nice little MMORPG for those who are tired of RuneScape. It's developed by NCSoft, who have quite a reputation for making games (second largest MMO company, next to Blizzard). It's a bit like RS in that it's free, and you can be a member for 5$ a month. However, the gameplay's totally different, a bit like Diablo, and the graphics are better. Of course, no one plays for graphics. I've been playing it for the last week or so. Anyone else out there play it? Here's the link: http://www.dungeonrunners.com
  3. Why did she have cigarettes in her car?
  4. The first thing that comes to mind is Ultima Online, which has been around since 1997 and still has about 100K subscribers. I'm sure there's some more that are some more, older games, but UO is probably the oldest MMO that's actually worth playing. Anyway, if any game is so obscure that I haven't heard of it, it's probably dying.
  5. Actually they have C++ developers there and most people who know Java will know atleast some C++.[/b] Yes, but the vast majority of the programmers are Java. Yes, they will know some C++, but they still are much better at Java. That's why they use Java. What do you mean by client-based? Last time i checked runescape had a client. I meant a client like the ones for other MMORPGs. Technically, when you're playing RuneScape on a browser, you are playing on the client. Except that the client is on the browser. Not everyone wants better runescape graphics, i think it's graphics are good enough. That's not my point Umm, no they aren't. Jagex could easily release a .jar download version of the game which, when launched, would run just the same as if it was in a browser. But if it was a download, they wouldn't be restricted by the limits of a browser game. Last time i checked a c++ browser game was impossible. Didn't know that. Thanks. But if it were possible, it's capabilities would be similar to RuneScape's. Just because those games have that sort of graphics doesn't mean that Jagex have to use that sort, the graphics on runescape are unique and i hope Jagex keep it that way. I like their unique style too, but they have a LOT of room for improvement. =; :notalk: :-k :boohoo: \
  6. 1. Much of Java is derived from C++. Anyone taking a Java course or studying Java could probably half-[wagon] C++ without too many errors, and vice-versa. All you need is a compiler for C++ and a Runtime Environment for Java. 2. No one said that this game would be client based. Hell, there aren't many details on the new game "Mechscape" as is. Refrain from speculating; don't want your bubble to burst too early. 3. "Superior" gameplay is subjective; some people like a challenge (puzzle), others like real-time strategy, and the select few like to build up empires/cities or earn cash specifically in a game. I find Starcraft and Diablo II superior to RuneScape, but only in gameplay. I even find C&C Generals: Zero Hour superior, but that's only because it's an RTS element. 4. Don't you realize that this is off-topic of the thread? Sure, he's talking about Mechscape coming out, but he also attributes that to the "decline and decay" of RuneScape. If you can't stick to that line, don't try and post. Try not to talk when you don't understand half of what you're saying, okay? Kinda makes you look foolish. 1. Being able to "half-[wagon]" C++ doesn't mean you can make a good game with it. 2. I mentioned client games because highlander's post was suggesting that RuneScape had poor games due to the fact that it's Java, which obviously isn't true. 3. Yeah, that's probably true. 4. Tell that to highlanders. I was merely responding to his post. I don't think that Jagex is making a game called MechScape, if you read any of my posts on this thread. I perfectly understand everything that I say, mind you.
  7. First of all, Java is the language that Jagex is familiar with. They probably aren't very good at C++. Second, if this alleged new game is client-based, it would probably have decent graphics, MUCH better than RuneScape. Like I have said before on this thread and many others, RuneScape's graphics are poor because it's browser-based, not because it's Java. A C++ browser game wouldn't be much better than RuneScape. Third, many games with good graphics, particularly "next-generation" games, DO have complicated quests ("epic quests") and skills. They also have superior gameplay. Take it from someone who plays such games.

Stop trying to justifying yourself. Good intentions are worthless if you don't have the backbone to enforce them. Like has been said, the punishment isn't what you should be worrying about. The fact that you have a criminal record will make your life miserable. Hopefully you've learned your lesson from this.
  9. http://www.jagex.com/corporate/About/today.ws Can you not see it yet? I have read that page a dozen times before. With the new CEO, it's almost certain that Jagex is making a new game. But if MechScape has been in development for as long as your evidence says, it would have been announced long before now on the corporate website, and perhaps even on runescape.com.
  10. Oh so a filed tradedmark by Jagex Ltd, over 20 domains registered to Jagex Ltd, Jagex employees writing about it on their CVs, some peices of concept art leaked, us knowing Jagex have been working on a new game or 2 for a while and it's a rumour? :-k I'm not going to believe a word of it until Jagex actually puts something on their corporate website.
  11. All right, let's bring some math into this. I can hear all of you cheering. After all, everybody loves math. Dragon Longsword speed rating (taken from KB): 5 Dragon Scimitar speed rating (taken from KB): 6 That basically means that a Dragon Scimitar can hit 6 times in the time it takes for a Dragon Longsword to 5. Max hit with just Dragon Longsword at 80 strength, agressive, no pots or prayers: 20. With special: 25 Max hit with just Dragon Scimitar at 80 strength, agressive, no pots or prayers: 19. All right, then. 5 times 20 equals 100. Let's say that one of those five hits was a special. So that's 105. 6 times 19 equals 114. Now, for the final question.... [hide]Which is bigger: 105 or 114?[/hide] Of course, I'm not factoring in accuracy here. But even if I were, the Dragon Longsword would not surpass the Dragon Scimitar.
  12. Fantasy MMORPGs make up about 90% of the market. I agree with you on the second part. Go read the last 3 pages of this thread if you think it is just a rumour. Now I'm even more convinced that MechScape is a rumor. There's a reason behind that. Personally, I would be upset if Jagex actually is working on a game called MechScape. I would like it if Jagex made a new game, but only if it's fantasy.
  13. Here's my opinion. This is one of the most worthless, idiotic threads I have seen in a while. Just because a company is working on another game doesn't mean that it's going to abandon it's first one. SOE has, I believe, 14 different MMORPGs, yet many of them are very good. It would be very stupid of Jagex to let go of their original game, the game that has made them millions. RuneScape is not limited by Java, it is limited by the fact that it is a browser game. Java isn't good for graphics, but it is capable of creating graphics that are much better than RuneScape's This is a screenshot from Wurm Online, an MMORPG programmed entirely in Java. Jagex works very hard on RuneScape. Why don't you read this? If you want to quit RuneScape, go ahead. It's your loss. EDIT: I looked up Mechscape on Wikipedia. All I found was a short, unprofessional stub article that claims that Jagex is making a game named MechScape. I also checked on Google. I'm thinking that this new game is just a rumor...
  14. Ratchet's a pretty good writer, if you read some of his other works. Yeah, I think it's getting kinda old. You should work on some of your other stories.
  15. Err... Why? America, of all the developed nations, probably deserves nukes the least, because it's the most powerful country. That way, we couldn't take over the world...
  16. Instead of putting RuneScape on Miniclip, I think Jagex should have done what Turbine did with LOTRO: Place a huge advertisement on practically every single website on the world wide web.
  17. No, it isn't. RuneScape has barely scratched the surface of Java's capabilities. Java, while not as powerful as C++, is a very useful language, and is more than capable of creating decent graphics. Same thing goes for last edition's comment about the Edgeville graphics. As a matter of fact, I think RuneScape's current engine can handle horseback riding quite fine, albeit with some lag.
  18. If Hitler had a nuke, he would have used it on London. There's no way he could manage to get it all the way to America, and using it to kill Jews is inrealistic. Furthermore, Hitler really hated the British.
  19. The power still comes from the runes. The words are just a means to direct them. Doesn't Harry Potter use words to "direct" his power too? He can still cast magic without saying the words. He still needs willpower to create magic, and his willpower is greater when he has strong feelings (usually anger/ fear). And Harry always casts magic better when he's angry/ in danger. In Harry Potter, the power actually comes from the wand. You use words to direct the power. In RuneScape, the power comes from runes. You use your mind to direct the power. You perform better physically when you're angry/in danger. It'd make sense if magic worked the same way. Of course magic isn't real, but it's fun to talk about. :D
  20. Jihad is a reference to the demons' fighting style. How's anyone going to be offended? Jihad isn't a holy word to Muslims. It's just something that's in their belief system. Would I be offended if someone used the word "savior" or "ressurection" in their title? Also, I've only written a small portion of the story.
  21. Why not?
  22. To Tagon's surprise, the courtyard was full of people. In the darkness, it had been hard to tell. The crowd was standing well beyond the outer wall, which explained why he hadn't seen them in the first place. None of them had torches. Tagon walked into the courtyard. He was aware of Toren opening the gate and entering. So the boy made it, he thought.
