300 MILLION DOLLARS!!! :shock: :shock: :shock: :shock: :shock: Isn't that like twenty times the amount that's usually spent on a large-budget MMO? Tabula Rasa had, I believe, 20 million, and Vanguard had like 30 million. With that kind of money, you could easily overshadow WoW.

It's much easier to create a new game with good graphics than update an old game's poor graphics into good ones. That's why EQ still looks outdated, even though SOE has the technology to make an awesome-looking game. Also, there is the possiblity that this will be a client-based game. I doubt MechScape (if they are making a game called MechScape) will have as much of a macro problem as RuneScape, as the gameplay will most likely be quite different.

I'm hoping that you aren't as dumb as you appear. BTW, there's no such thing as a gamma stage when you're developing a game.

Really, it depends on the details. Would choosing the money mean that I can't be loved? If that's the case, I'd go with the love. With just money, I can't have happiness. Like ixfd64 said, Jagex does not show favoritism. They believed that he was cheating, so they banned him (gender?). The only problem is that they sent an automated message. I think that Jagex should place higher priority on ban appeals, for they are the most important of queries.

Seriously, I thought Tip.iters are supposed to be smart. Rofl, yeah.... A company that delivers FPS games would team up with a company that delivers RPGs. :boohoo: Uh...Valve has loaned the Source engine to several RPG's. It's even used in racing and puzzle games. Why Source? Unreal 3.0 would be more like it.

Most games have those stuff, not just WoW. What's wrong with making it like WoW? It's the most successful MMORPG on the planet.

I'm hoping that Jagex will make up for this year by releasing lots of quests in the future. 130 quests aren't enough. Most games have 1000+ quests, but most of them are small, and in RuneScape terms it would be more like 300-500 quests. Still, that's a lot more than we have right now. Quests are my favorite part of the game. Too many?

I most certainly do! At least, it's much better then throwing vague assumptions and hasty conclusions around. There was a excellent post on the RSOF (fancy that!) by a guy named Guthix God that listed weapon speeds in terms of seconds-per-hit. I think it died, but I saved his results to a file on my computer for later evaluation, and it has proved very useful for discussions like this. I had used the longsword for quite a while, and had been pretty ambivalent about the whole controversy. Then I did the math, and quickly switched to the scimy. Guthix God found that the longsword hits once every 3.04 seconds, and the scimitar hits once every 2.43 seconds. From tip.it's max hit calculator, we can find the max hit of the longsword, the scimitar, and the longsword with special. At 80 strength, this is 19, 19, and 24, respectively. Here then, is the max-damage-per-second of the weapons. Dragon longsword - 6.25 Dragon scimitar - 7.82 Dragon longsword w/ special - 7.89 As far as damage goes, then, the only use of the Dragon longsword is its special attack, which deals out slightly higher damage per second then the scimy. However, if it's special attacks that we're talking about, why not use a dragon dagger, as others have suggested? The longsword still has its uses. If you're fighting a monster that is especially weak to stab, you may want to opt for a longsword. Personally, I think the longsword looks more like a warrior's weapon then a scimitar, but that's personal opinion, and math doesn't really apply to that. :? Hmm... 2.43:3.04... According to the KB, a scimitar can hit 6 times in the amount a longsword can hit 5. Using those figures, a scimitar can hit 6 times in 14.58 seconds. A longsword can hit 5 times in 15.2 seconds. Either Guthix God is a bit off, or the 5:6 ratio is rounded. Either way, Dragon Scimitar > Dragon Longsword.

First of all, it IS 3D! Have you heard of ARROW KEYS?? Second, Java can easily handle 3D. It's not quite as good as C++, but it's still capable of creating good graphics. *points at sig*
