Making a Iphone application
You would have to enter a legal contract with a developer or hire one as part of your business. Even with the former it is up to them to split the profits with you and you would be lucky to get 5-10% even after payment ($1,000+, easily). The second entails that you start a business, which probably requires more capital than you can put in at the moment. I really just don't see this working out, especially if you want to sell the application.

Making a Iphone application
If they make the application for you, you will not be able to submit the application for use in the App Store. The farthest you could get with it is a license to use it on your specific device.

Sounds like that trojan that is going around on Facebook. Might want to post a HijackThis log just to safe.

Heating up a CPU
Not to mention that it's an inefficient means to generate heat. You would be better off buying something specifically for that task.

Suggestions for a Hopeless Cause
It's interesting that MSE is mentioned, as in certain benchmarks, it comes in dead last as far as idle RAM usage is concerned. However, AVG was not tested. This benchmark is a little more dated, but it also performs memory tests. It too suggests that MSE uses more RAM under idle and peak conditions - even more than AVG.

Overclocking my CPU
Yeah, a Q6600 will easily reach that.

Apple no longer supports Java...
On the flip side, if those sort of privileges were revoked, Apple would be further criticized for maintaining a closed OS. Not even the most secure OS can defend against its users (not referring to any in particular). The day that Apple shuts down these web standards in the name of "user security" is the day that I switch back to Windows. With any luck, this malicious trojan will be added to Snow Leopard's anti-malware list with the next security update. For clarity: my post was not penned with any specific operating system in mind, but was intended as a general comment on computer security. I do not consider removal of meaningful access to one's own computer acceptable, even done in the name of security, an acceptable practice. Ah, forgive me then. I agree with such sentiments.

Apple no longer supports Java...
And here's where the root of the problem becomes painfully obvious: if users have sufficient privileges to compromise a system's security and (whether from ignorance or apathy) do not make due effort to maintain system integrity, trouble ensues. On the flip side, if those sort of privileges were revoked, Apple would be further criticized for maintaining a closed OS. Not even the most secure OS can defend against its users (not referring to any in particular). Apple no longer supports Java...
There are no viruses that currently afflict Leopard or Snow Leopard. There are, and nowadays most of them are the same way as this one. That's why in windows you get a warning twice before installing a program from an unknown source. People still click yes and ok and there is no way that the mac users are different than Windows users. Then they are erroneously reported as viruses, as Y_Guy pointed out. The differences are noted here. Java, intrinsically, is allowed to read and write what it pleases under certain conditions. However, there is a clear red warning indicating possible dangers. "Self-signed root certificate" really says it all. The user let the program run on their computer - not a virus.

There are no viruses that currently afflict Leopard or Snow Leopard. http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2371604,00.asp ?? "...users need to manually allow it access to their computers." and "Mac users should be aware that this threat exists, and that it is likely to be operative in the future, so this Koobface Trojan horse may become an issue for Macs," Intego said. The article purposely uses the word virus to gain more hits.

Apple no longer supports Java...
It's funny that this occurs alongside a new Java-based trojan. I think that it has the potential to be better than what was originally implemented. Hopefully the above article isn't a hint at what is to come, though. :\

wireless bridge? [solved]
Are you sure they were wireless and not powerline ethernet adapters? Generally the wireless network extenders don't have an ethernet port on them (Some do exist, didn't think Best Buy sold them though). Around $115 is the normal cost for the dlink powerline adapters, which transfer data over the power lines in your house. We use them sometimes for IPTV installs since you can't get enough speed/quality out of wireless. The dlinks aren't quite good enough though, we buy comtrend brand which are around $200 for the pair. Ooo, perhaps that was it. Yeah, because they looked similar to these. I wasn't even aware that it was possible to do that. Thank you for the information. :D

wireless bridge? [solved]
At Best Buy, I saw some wireless ethernet boxes. You plug them into an outlet and they have a single ethernet port. One goes into the router and the second goes wherever you need it. Then you could plug in a splitter and hook up your Xbox & computer into the second one downstairs. I almost bought it but I knew that I wanted wireless downstairs, as my laptop is not stationary. It was more expensive than what I bought, so it must have been $115 or so. Pretty expensive. <_<

Mods, Lock Please
Yeah, there's no limit. We used to clean up the Gen. Disc. pictures thread because of the way it was stored on the old boards (I believe, but I could be wrong here). No worries. :)

Sums up what I think pretty nicely.

wireless bridge? [solved]
I had a similar situation. I couldn't get signal downstairs so I bought an Apple Express to repeat (although it's not directly connected, as you said you might want) the network. Although I'm sure that there are cheaper options out there. :)

Cadet Fitness Assessment
I'd love to give it a try, but anything with lactose makes me swell up to the size of a whale. I still have to get around to buying a medicine ball. Two pull-ups today. Went home and made a few pounds of peanut butter as a reward. :)
