How did your Runescape name "come to be"?
Me_Hate_Libs replied to Flareboy64's topic in General Discussion
My RS name is that of a Magic: The Gathering Planeswalker known as "Tevesh Szat." I mistakenly spelled it "Tvesh Szat" and din't notice the mistake I made until I saw the correct spelling on one of my card, nearly 4 years after I made the character. So misspelled I stand. -

Probably like 1/10th or 1/5th of what the reward for completing quest was. So like 1 or 2k slayer exp and 700 or 1400 prayer exp. -
Whats with this? (afk'ing on spiders)
Me_Hate_Libs replied to miracleman58's topic in General Discussion
There is no need to ban them really. It's an issue with the game engine, and not completly the players fault. To solve the problem, one simply has to understand how it works. A player puts on melee armor, and splashes a spider. Under normal circumstances after a few mintues of combat, and no keyboard interactions, the game will auto log you. To stay logged in, players simply put a cellphone/paper-weight on a spacebar or arrow key. To solve the problem Jagex simply need to alter the log mechanic so that if you hold the same key(s) on your keyboard for 5 mintues or greater, it will no longer keep you logged in. The ingame mechanic will then kick them off. Problem solved and it hurts no-one except AFK'ers. Probably the easiest thing is a combat timer. If you're attacking something and don't kill it within 5 minutes, it exits combat and respawns at its respawn point. You exempt a few boss monsters from this, i.e. KQ, KBD, Corporeal. Problem solved. -

Got mine off of first Bork kill. Had to kill 7 Mith drags for it's bone. That kinda sucked. -
I remember a time when Jagex actually admitted to disliking of pures. it was done in ther form of a Guthix god letter. They didn't like people only focusing on one aspect of their game while they tried so hard to develop a game as a whole. But once we got members and people started giving them money, they weren't so concerned about their "standards" anymore.

It'll either end, or change so drastically that it's not really the same game. Much is the same way of RSC and RS2.

Like I said earlier, when you work on so many big projects at once, it takes a lot longer than working on a few big projects at once and comppleting them first before you add on more. I'll be annoyed, big surprise there, if they do have a glut of high level stuff in the span of 2 months. Why? Because then they did exactly what I thought they did and I don't like it. I think it would've been better to have these thing released more spaced out. This stuff now is all peaks and valleys. 2009 is one big [wagon] valley. I posted that on the 2nd page. Sorry for not spelling it out more. I said that so that someone wouldn't bring up the Rest, Randoms, Path Finding and claim that I was underestimating the time they put into them. Guess you went ahead and did it anyway, lol Yeah, and the initial rant was how we got no update this week, and next week the update we'll get will be small and crappy, bringing up the point of are they really spending their time on. Guess this was lost on some people.

I'll tell you the key thing in your post. You're f2p. f2p has very few spots for anything high level and yews are very high sought after. Fish don't run out and can be fished at once, and mining can only get one, so no one competes with them. Woodcutting has it's own deal in f2p. Sorry, but you're SOL on f2p.

I'd be impressed with a lvl 3 skiller with 99 theiving. Nothing would suck more than picking a Hero, getting 4 damage when you only have 10 hp. lol

Once a great game. A story/Rant for veteran players.
Me_Hate_Libs replied to eatrunearrow's topic in Rants
For me the 99 debate only has one break in it. 99 before RS2 and 99 after RS2. That's it. -
Okay, thanks for the lovely wall of text there that somewhat resembled a paragraph. 1) If you read what I said, you'd know I don't want high level content all the time. Simply good content. I don't care about the skills, but I'd like a quest taking more than half an hour to complete. That would be quests like the first Summer quest last year as well as Meeting History. 2) No bugs happen. I know this. They weren't nearly as bad in the past. Now if this is due to one of their given reasons that they mistakenly piled up so much stuff that writing new contradicts the old code and causes problems, I understand that. I don't like it, but I understand it. Oh, I love this, and you have to admit I'm right, but for all the developing and QAing these quests go through, them coming out with spelling errors? God that's just dumb. 3) Tweaks need to be made. Soul Wars needed tweaks. I'm cool with that. It being a blatant rip off of Castle Wars? less than cool with that. Quit trying to kake it seem like I want everything perfect. I don't. 4) Not to what I want. I don't expect to like everything. But I guess there needs to be new content to like right? Well, very little new content. And what is best for the game is debatable. I have my opinion, you have yours. Again, *sigh* here is my main point I want to make. What is being released, content and upgrades, is not, in my opinion, equal to the supposed time they are spending on it. Can we stop talking about I want the game to be perfect and have a desire for total control over it? I don't. Oh, and to Omali, God I love you. In a nongay way. One of the few people who will actually discuss things on here. Your points are valid, and I can see how you got to them, but I reached my own, which are a little off from yours. Oh, and the upgrade year, if I looked I could find the post, but a few months back I talked about how I thought the upgrade year was a cover for using less people on developing content for Runescape and devoting a portion of the RS team to developing something else, perhaps Mechspace. Trust be told, I really hope that's the case. And if they said that, I'd be cool. What bugs me is not knowing why their content doesn't equal the alleged time spent on it. I could deal with a light year if they were developing Mechscape. I wouldn't buy members for the year, but I'd be fine with it. Probably why they didn't say that. Loss of membership. Oh yes, such an open and honest company.

Post and discuss all Jagex Twitter updates here!
Me_Hate_Libs replied to forestfrolic's topic in General Discussion
They need to seperate this into two Twitters. The Jagex official one which is just their own stuff and a second one which is more about their dealing with Fansites and responding to other peoples questions. -

10 feet away from your computer is the bad kind of AFK. The only considered AFK is when at your computer, but switching between windows. -
I did. I used them on Swordfish and Kwuarm gloves.

I do hope it dies in its prime. The last thing I want to see is it being dragged out and made to suffer an painful, slow death long after the game has reached its peak for content, creativity and fun. Just watching it stand there, being propped up and covered in make up like a corpse in a coffin. And people constantly complainging and not realizing that the game has died long ago and now it's just there as a momument to its own continued misery. I really hope that doesn't happen. Oh wait... um, too late... -.-

I had a really nice, long, thought out post as a response to this. Then the power blipped. Awesome. I'm just going to retype my quests example. So I'll put this, by this time in 2008, which discounts WGS, in 2008 we had 8 good, long quests. Dealing With Scabaras, As a First Resort, Kennith's Concerns, Legacy of Seergaze, Smoking Kills, Rocking Out, Meeting History, and Summer's End. Not to mention Defender of Varrock in 3 weeks. In 2009, we had Chosen Commander, and a bunch of other quests with decent to hard levels required and half an hour to do them. Oh, and I like the upgrades. But they don't take as long as new content, not most of them anyhow. And Upgrades/New Content = Alleged time spent on them doesn't wash. Something is off there. No one can spend as much time as they claim and produce what they have given us. Unless half the company was working MA for 9 months. Oh god... :wall:

Yep... Seriously, why don't you guys use adblock. It solves so many annoyances. <3 Firefox It's cause they're some IE using dummies. -

Reminds me of when people were casting Crumble Undead on skeles in Edgeville dungeon in full rune. That was like 2 or 3 years ago though. -
Combat familiars are seriously underrated. What's wrong with having a fire titan smacking the other guy for 15 damage? A good combat familiar will probably add more damage than something like drinking a super strength potion would. And prayer! How can anyone say prayer is just empty combat levels? That is the very essence of n00b there. Well, there are still issues getting your familiar into combat properly. It's why it's not used nearly as much as it should be. And I know you weren't, but it looks like I got lumped into the group of people who think prayer isn't good. I think prayer is great and totally worth it. It adds quite a bit to the fight, esspecially with Piety on your side.

Remember Vinesweeper? Remember Stealing Creation? Remember Clan Wars and Bounty Hunter? I remember. I remember how they rushed them out to get them online quickly. And what happened? Almost immediately, they needed complete overhauls because they sucked. How many updates this year have needed massive rebalancing right after the release? Soul Wars got a few minor tweaks based on player feedback, to nerf freeloading, and that's all I can come up with. Last year had more lame updates than this year is getting. Like Perils of Ice Mountain, remember that? And Catapult Construction? Gnomecopters? Grenwalls and Pawyas? All of those had been released by this time last year. They might as well have been empty weeks for all they've added to the game. Which specific updates this year have disappointed you? Even the "meh" quests are continuations of existing storylines. I just browsed the news archive and for me it's pretty much Seers' Diary and that's it. Seers was okay. My problem is that the quests have all been very short. The minigames have sucked, though I'm not much of a player. Soul Wars being okay, but then again, it was a rip off of a very popular minigame already. And yeah, those updates you listed were lame. And frankly, Perils annoyed the hell out of me for how preachy it was. But 2008 also had a bunch of awesome updates. 2009 has had crap. A bunch of jobber quests, one diary, a disappointing minigames, a ripped off minigame, and a slew of upgrades. Honestly many of the best things have been the upgrades, Rest amongst the top of my list. Two things that have really risen my ire were: 1) Curve of Arrav. They shouldn't have bothered. This definitely was a good quest up until the point that you stopped dead in the middle of the story. 2) Advanced agility courses: Now this one in and of itself didn't bother me. The implications bothered me much more. I'm not one begging for high level content all the time, but when they add some what do they do? They throw a few obstacles in an existing course and call them high level. Hey guys, thanks for spending a whole 90 minutes whipping out some high level content. Glad to know you care. I don't know what is eating up all their time over at Jagex, but if they have the amlunt of staff they claim, and they're working at capacity, and this is all we're getting, something is seriously wrong. These upgrades and lackluster content cannot be what they're spending all their time on.

Well, I don't buy anything. I know it sounds dumb, but if 7 years of playing I've yet to ever guy anything off anyone else or from the GE. And I've only ever gotten Karil's bow from Barrows. I find it easier to skip.
-
Well, that could be because the metal you smith the armor from is called adamantite. Its the smithing tab after all, not the meele armour section in the combat guide. My mistake, I thought adamantite was just the name of the ore, not of the ore *and* the bar. It's only the armor that is called adamant. I was wrong.

I got my helm, then learned the rings, then the darts/arrows with monster blocking/cancelling interspersed. Now I just take runes and sell them.
-
Well, he's not directly involved in content, is he? His job is to coordinate what they should do...the process of working on discussing things is probably a lot of what he does at Jagex when he works on Runescape. We'll probably get more detailed answers from the Content Team, since they're more directly involved. Much in the same way the President of the US is in charge of the armed forces, but it's the generals who truly attend to the war effort. Unfortunately MMG is the RS equivalent of George Bush. -.-

Dragonkin: After the Rise of Lucien
Me_Hate_Libs replied to Psycho_Robot's topic in General Discussion
It doesn't make me mad. That would imply I cared in some way. It's just a very big deterrent. If Omali told me I could find the meaning of life in there, it would still be a toss up. But if it's only RS related, I'll skip it.
