  1. The biggest redeeming factor i see with partyhats (and especially ely spirit shields) is they are entering a new market. And by new market i mean a lower tier in price. Instead of being unbuyable we will see some average runescapers now willing to spend money on a hat with the intentions of keeping it or the mentality of buying it as a really long term investment. I see elys having a small possible spike in demand right after free trade due to their likeliness of becoming accessible to a much larger group of people (a lot of people seem to plan on picking up an ely after free trade) Also the green and farming cape look awesome together, congrats
  2. I have seen hundreds of people dieing from randoms or monsters and i always had to spam click for one minute until any items showed up. Taken from the runescape wiki http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Death "Previously, in the 16 October 2007 update, items dropped from players killed by monsters or NPC's remains visible only to the dead player for 1 minute, in case he/she wants to recover his/her items. After that, anyone nearby will be able to see and take them. Since the gravestone update on 10 December 2007, though, this update is rendered obsolete. Gravestones are very useful but can sometimes be bad as others around the dead person often don't bless the grave, which can be very stressful."
  3. With the cash you have i would say you have a very good chance of getting an ely (probably be stable within 200mil to 400mil). With a partyhat i don't think yellow will drop that low, so that 400mil will give you a much better chance of getting one (i think it will stabalize within 350mil to 600mil). My predictions are based on the current selling prices of both of those items, i just gave some room for them dropping more due to panic or going up for the same reason.
  4. I agree, lucky 6 minute gravestones is a large enough amount of time to get to most places. I still don't like the idea that there will be very few gravestones blessed now though. Also you can attack any place in the wilderness even if they are atttacking a monster? Does that mean we will see pking of green dragon autoers lol?
  5. When it comes to 3rd age mage you have quite the limited market of buyers, it isn't particulary good, and there are many other items to hold your cash/expensive items for merchants to buy. Combine that with the general decline of most items due to speciulatioin plus the actual implementation of free trade/wildy i am fairly sure it's going to take a hit. As for the poster asking about planks, again it looks like everything is and will continue to drop, especially if we see bots running oak planks again. The biggest curve ball i see throwing off anyone's speculation here is what unanounced updates do they have planned to go along with free trade/wildy. It only takes the smallest update to cause a great sway in the economy.
  6. Yes a better graphics card would increase your fps. The whole purpose of the card is to take the rendering load off of your cpu. Additionally try updating your current graphics drivers, turn off other uneeded programs, and maybe even taking off some add ons in your brower. This should all increase your fps. Also by slow connection can you be more specific? Dial up, dsl, broadband. Your connection will affect lag, but really the only things to affect fps are your cpu and graphics cards (drivers and various connections to the motherboard can affect but that's not for your case).
  7. You are overthinking this. How well do you think the runescape community would take it, if free trade came back but no wildy? They said they were returning it because of how many people wished it came back, that solution wouldn't solve their problem. And "the way it used to be" is reffering to the fact they were both core game mechanics that were only changed because they had to be. At this point in time jagex sees there no reason to have the restrictions. There is no reason not to return to the way the game should be (should be according to jagex, you know the people who made the game. The people who ultimately determine how things should run. Our opinions have a limited effect.) That's not really a good comparison. People's gameplay experience relied on the old wilderness, the ditch is a minor add on. To try and make myself clear, people asked for both of them back. So jagex wants to return both of them back.
  8. "I regularly hear from both the community and the Jagex team that we should reintroduce free trade and the excitement of the old Wilderness, warts and all" Ontop of that it's better bussiness. And again because it was in many ways the very reason some players joined rs, it was taken away. In some ways they deserve it back.
  9. They should be taken as a package deal becuase they were original gameplay mechanics that jagex choose to have in the first place. If these were some new changes to the game i would agree. But they took both of these out, which is the reason they should both come back.
  10. You can't take away free trade without taking away pking... so took them both away. They now realize that plan didn't really work, so they want to restore it. Why in the world would they leave out a huge portion of the game and just bring back free trade. Honestly i think more players are concerned about old wildy than they are about free trade. You ask for evidence that they are one in the same? Is that even the point? The way runescape was supposed to be was to have the old wildernes. But that got taken away, it would be idiotic to just leave what they have in. Yes it has nice mechanics in certin areas but again that's not the point. I am pretty sure he is calling anyone selfish because they want just free trade back but not the wilderness. Why should you get what you want but not anyone else? Sounds pretty selfish to me.
  11. With more ess bots usually means more bots making runes as well. I remember going to world 1 or 2 with bots undercutting each other trying to sell deaths and nats. either that or they got the runes buy auto buying from the rune shops at mage bank and port sarim That is true, most sellers were getting from shops. But if we have learned anything from any sort of criminal activity(or anything against the rules in runescape), they won't go away. They will evolve and find their profits elsewere, and i see runecrafting a possiblity. Especially when other options are overcrowded already (green dragons and chincompas).

  13. don't die, kill the boss, and get your xp and tokens Well not everyone plays solely for those reasons. For example trying to earn every dungeoneering title, trying to earn a specific item from a boss or slayer creature, end the game with the most cash, playing for the enjoyment of figuring out a dungeon and the challenge of killing a boss, trying to earn xp for a specific skill (smithing, mining, fishing, or even combat xp), finishing a dungeon before a friend does.
  14. You clearly know nothing about biology or psychology, so please stop trying to espouse as fact what is clearly personal opinion. I know that you shouldn't let emotions get the better of you.. This is just stupid, it's not my "opinion".. Anyone who does that in a game should be banned from the game: clearly they can't draw the line between reality and fiction of the game.. And if they can't, what stops them from murdering - after all in the game it was actually advised to make money by killing humans! Really you don't need to know anything for that: anyone who ever gets fussed over a game - more than the feeling "[cabbage] why this", but the deep saddening feeling you feel when something really bad happens - is either addicted or has another mental problem. After all, it's all a game What you were trying to say earlier is a person can't even feel bad about a game. Yes, when someone does something that hurts themselves or other people becuase of a game that's unhealthy. But just having feelings towards or brought on because of a game isn't unhealthly. And that's pretty much why everyone is saying things towards you.
  15. You need to stay hydrated to survive, you don't need a rune platebody to survive! If we're talking about basic needs coca cola is probably farther down on the list than a rune platebody  If you're emotionally invested in something because you spent time/money/effort getting it, whether it's a physical object or a "virtual" object, it can be significant to you. Some are emotionally invested in their characters and avatars, and others aren't, and neither one of those choices is inherently better than the other. But getting emotionally affected for a game is unhealth.. This is just a game don't forget that.. Nothing depends on it, nothing will come from it and in the end it will stop! Same goes for just about any accomplishment you can think of-- RL or RS. When you die, it doesn't matter how much you time you spent exercising and being healthy-- your body's dunzo. It does, we aren't animals anymore.. You've got to control your feelings, and your mind should tell you it's only a game, you can just "restart"! So you are telling me i can just control my emotions? if i lose my job, or someone i know dies i am supposed to just not feel bad about it? There is a difference between managing your emotions, and controling them. There is nothing you can really do that's going to change how you feel. But you can maganage them well enough that you won't do anything to make it have a negative impact on your life. Telling myself it's just a game isn't going to make me feel any better about losing 100+ hours of something i worked for, and neither is telling myself i can just find another job if i lost mine. Also, we are just animals. We like to think we have some civility in us, but look at what we do to ourselves and the world. We are driven by sexual desires, and greed to ensure we survive.
  16. Seems like someone is trying to sell some seers rings lol You need to stay hydrated to survive, you don't need a rune platebody to survive! If we're talking about basic needs coca cola is probably farther down on the list than a rune platebody  If you're emotionally invested in something because you spent time/money/effort getting it, whether it's a physical object or a "virtual" object, it can be significant to you. But getting emotionally affected for a game is unhealth.. This is just a game don't forget that.. Nothing depends on it, nothing will come from it and in the end it will stop! Well just because you start playing a game doesn't mean your brain turns off your emotions. People spend a lot of time on games, and it still hurts to know their time was wasted when they lose something. Of course you are not really gaining anything from the game, but you can't exactly just control how you feel. People get very emotional at sports don't they? The world cup? Super bowl? You get excited when jagex releases something cool don't you? Isn't that excitment an emotional product of the game? I don't think it's fair to just assume we shouldn't be affected emotionalyl by this just because it's "a game". We spend time on it and in the end we are still slaves to our emtions. Now what one does with those emotions can the real unheallthy part, but that's a different story anyway.
  17. To spread the word out as far as they can. Gain as much publicity as possible.
  18. I guess that depends on how items behave when the gravestone dissapears. If people can pick up the items then yeah people will want you to lose your stuff lol. If death no longer means transfering items (outside of pvp i mean) then we will probably still see graves blessed. Do you know if they have confirmed anything on that?
  19. Watch the servers disconnect right as everyone tries fighting nex.
  20. I remember around the time mmg became ceo they had a video of someone inside jagex kind of bragging how they were running rs on some really old servers. But that also showed that rs wasn't exactly a beast on the machines. It doesn't really surprise me though. Most people i have met in the networking world pride themsleves in using/reusing old hardware and handling a surprising load. Why exactly ddosing jagex though? Something about free trade or what?
  21. Well that's what people thought about the pking/free trade update in the first place. All that nagging usually gets jagex to do something. It's usually just a matter of time. Also this is a disscussion board. Don't ever expect any side of an argument to die
  22. Wait, spirit shield value will increase as they become more common? Some people will probably buy a spirit shield to use as gear to fight the new boss. Or perhaps that was a typo by him lol
  23. While I definitely agree this will be true, I'm still worried as to how Jagex plans on keeping the game bot-free or almost bot-free. They don't, they've just realized that restricting trade did nothing whatsoever to harm botting or RWT, so why keep punishing everyone else? That's false. It was crippled for a while after the restrictions happened. It took some time before everyone had to find flaws within the system. Ontop of that it stopped most of the gold farming, and bald headed botters all over the fishing guild and yew trees. Yes, botting and rwt is now as big or bigger than it was before. But it say it did nothing whatsoever is taking it too far. Every single world at the fishing guild, yew tree, and flax field was FILLED with hundreds of bots at any given time. Of course now people are botting on their main accounts, but that's precisely the change i am talking about. They delivered a large blow to the overall rwt community. It just evolved to make up for those changes.
  24. Efficient - "performing or functioning in the best possible manner with the least waste of time and effort" You said efficient, by the very definition it is the best. So you did suggest it. >Implying there can't be multiple levels of efficiency, e.g. darts being more efficient than a bow but less efficient than chinchompas. I didn't realise there were multiple levels of the best. By the way it is defined, although understandibly different considering the source, efficient means the best. That's it. Depends on what the best is. I would rather pay out 100m to get the bow, get 99 range in a good time and resell the bow than to spend 30m and lose it to get 99 range quickly. Therefore, the best for me would be the bow, and therefore is more efficient. Best = relative, what is most efficient for one player may be less so for another. You forgot with least possible expense. I see now. Yes perhaps it could be a contender for training, but personally see it more being usefull for pvp/monster hunting or even useful for some specific thing. Does anyone know if they ever confirmed a dragon war hammer? I was hoping for it to come out with the next dwarf quest (unlikely becuase they normally mention it), or future ones along the quest line.
