Ghosts Ahoy Quest Guide
Interesting...I think I agree that something needs to be standardized, though I would think including starboard and port would be more confusing to people that don't know nautical terms...so perhaps referencing the compass in both places would be wise? As always, it's up to the crew, but I support your suggestion...

advice plz !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
First piece of advice...take all but one of the exclamation points out of your subject line. Second, what are you going to be doing with the armour you plan on buying?

SportsGuy's blog -> Membership, the 65+ plateau, and beyond
While Guthix Sleeps has been sitting unfinished for quite some time. I've been pondering the decision to finish and use the fantastic experience rewards. I could use them on any skill at or above 65, but before this morning, two skills sat below that mark. That is no longer the case. I started out by crafting law runes via the balloon transport network. Something felt slow about it, so I switched over to the Abyss and created a bunch of POH teleport tabs to use the mounted glory near my entry portal. After reaching a number of 2k law runes in my bank, I switched over to nature runes for the remaining few thousand experience. [hide=Naturally...][/hide] Reaching the 65 Runecrafting mark means I can now use the Abyss to craft death runes, which will be the way I train from 65 to 70, should I ever decide to train again! Next up was figuring out a good way to get from mid-63 to 65 in Summoning. I decided that it would be easiest to buy seconds in Oo'glog and use gold charms to create Spirit Terrorbird pouches. I would need 994 of them, but by using the Piscatoris area obelisk and trading the created pouches in noted form to Bogrog, I'd have to make 40 trips. [hide=Summoning the courage to go on...][/hide] Somewhere in the middle of all that, I reached the ability to create Stranger plants, but I kept at the transformations. [hide=Transformations complete...][/hide] It's strange, but I feel no sense of accomplishment or relief at having finally trained the one skill that I never had, even though I reached 65 in every available skill currently available. Though there are rumblings of a new skill on the horizon, I don't expect it to be available soon, so until then, I can bask in the glory of the knowledge that another goal has been completed. Getting all skills to level 70 would be my next overall goal, I suppose, but I'm not planning on working on it directly. Let's just see what happens while I play the game...if I play the game!

Fairy Rings
If your POH is located in Yanille, then CIQ gets you close to the western wall, through which you can access your POH (and with portals and a mounted glory, you might get back close to your previous location). You could then walk out and back to the fairy ring. I think it's marginally closer than the fairy ring at mudskipper and perhaps just as far as the ardy one, with the added bonus of being a safe-haven and a place you could cook food with a larder to heal.

Duel Arena Guide
The guide already does this in the very first sentence of each duel type. It does not say it in the tournaments section, we will add that. As that is exactly what my first post was asking for clarification on, I appreciate it. Perhaps the other user missed that part.

Bestiary Guide Update Suggestion
[hide=hidden by crew as off-topic no offence] I'm torn, because on the one-hand I agree that we're getting off track, but on the other...the barrows discussion pertains to set-ups which pertains to the subject matter and as for elitism...what else can it be called? I didn't single anyone out, but there has to be some format for describing something I don't like. No one is trying for brownie points here...I've seen how this site works and I called it like I saw it. I don't know that I appreciate the inference or the attempt to invalidate arguments by calling what I'm doing improper. I agree, singling people out would be rarely appropriate, but I have to be able to make a point. Maybe a mod can lock this topic before it gets out of hand.[/hide]

Duel Arena Guide
"This minigame can be played at Low Risk, however, should you choose to stake, you potentially risk losing items. See the Mini Games page for a definition of high and low risk." The only things you lose are the coins for the tournaments, food, pots, arrows and runes I think it should be made clear at each type of duel arrangement. I understand you can lose stakes and items used during the battle, but rather than just at the top, mentions could be included before each type of duel. I think the format of the guide is poor, but that's because of the way it's split up and sectioned. The site has other redundancies like I am suggesting in other guides and I think for something such as this, it's worth including.

farming payments
Yeah...all the money I could get...then need to spend later on to buy them back when I need them for potions or protection for yews. I don't sell stuff like that. Not sometimes...not at all. I second this...time is money and it can be experience, as well.

Bestiary Guide Update Suggestion
[hide=hidden by crew as off-topic no offence] I don't see how. You'll either die with low valued items or you'll survive. Perhaps it's on the subject of "danger" that we differ opinions. I don't mind "dying" if I don't lose my items. I'd much rather die and lose black dragonhide than lose blessed d'hide or dragon metal armour or GWD armour. I might agree with parts of your statement. There must be a line drawn, but similar to guides with level suggestions, the line must be both reasonable and take other factors into account. More on that later on. Well, OF COURSE, you wouldn't. Despite only being a crew member for a short time (and I would argue that it is indeed because you haven't been crew for a long period of time yet), you wouldn't be able to objectively see how elitist such practices can be. I think saying any more on the subject is pointless. Ah, one of my least favorite arguments. Barrows cost money, period. Having used it for a short time, I noticed that it indeed cost me a lot more than using non-degradable armour. Why? Because unlike most players, I pick up everything. I bury regular bones. I pick up 10-15 Coin drops. I high alch steel daggers and iron kiteshields. To "effectively" use Barrows, one would need to use it somewhere the benefits outweigh the cost. I don't know of any place that it would be the case for a player like me. I hated using the gear and as you have seen, I'm not alone. I now think that there should at the very least be two sets of recommendations on each guide. One with barrows gear, and one for normal set-ups. You have access to the guides. I think every set-up in every guide should be changed. In some cases, set-ups should simply be eliminated in favor of suggesting types of attack to defend against or types of defense to attack against.[/hide]

farming payments
That certainly is an opinion that I don't share. I don't let anything die. Dunno if it's true for everything but certainly with yews you are better off not paying. Someone did all the maths and the 1 in 10 loss of a seed was less than the 10 x farmer payments. perhaps because the payment is used a a high potion second, but since I harvest my own cactus spines, I use them every time. I would never purchase a payment, but I'm not letting a tree die, either.

Bandos godwars hunting guide...
Maybe there is a better way to say it so that people who don't have English as a native language would understand the inference. It's not incorrect as it is written, but that doesn't mean there isn't a better way to say it. In fact, there are much better ways to write it so that more people can understand it, especially if Tip.It has wisely made the decision not to provide alternate translations of the website.

Bestiary Guide Update Suggestion
[hide=hidden by crew as off-topic no offence] I don't think so. I think most people that already hunt monsters are not going to care what Tip.It has to say about fighting them. Once they get to that point, they develop their own tips and tricks. Look at the Archive of Wisdom. There are tons of guides in beginning or other stages that tell people how to kill monsters based on personal experiences. On the contrary, most people who have never fought a monster before are going to look for a guide...not to optimize their stays, but to find out how to safely take on the monster. It only took me one or two trips to Mithril Dragons to feel safe...and develop my own methods of attacking. In fact, I had to go outside of Tip.It to find a beginners guide and reasonable set-ups that don't include barrows equipment. Barrows are the most over-rated gear in the game. They need to be recharged (and I don't care what people think, but I'm not paying every 15 hours to use equipment...at any price). Perhaps people used the equipment in great numbers a few years ago, but I see many more people doing without it when I'm playing. There certainly are people out there that use it and I wouldn't suggest cutting out mentions of it, but I really believe that the mentions should include something about a minimum set-up and then "players using Barrows equipment would beneift from using full Guthans" or something. Tip.It is unfortunately elitist in their approaches...it wasn't long ago before 1M Coins was an unreachable and unthinkable amount for me. Still, I was able to take on strong monsters with my combat level...and only after feeling comfortable about venturing out to them did I realize that. Again, I don't know what that belief is based on. I know plenty of people that NEVER use the guides and I'm trying to explain one of the reasons I don't use the ones on Tip.It. Optimizing performance is very subjective and I would agree that writing a guide for every single person's style would be unwise for Tip.It to attempt. About the KBD, it's not that using lesser items wouldn't be worth the risk...in fact, using the lowest possible gear IS the whole point...getting the most out of the trip by lowering the risk. If I was to use any guide, I'd have to guess if using black dragonhide is going to get me killed when it lists something better. It's also interesting that you bring up the KBD guide (I've seen it)...perhaps your fellow crew members can tell you why. When I'm reading a guide, I'm worried about fighting the monster. AT THE VERY LEAST, there is a substantial number of players just like me who don't use the guides to maximize their trips, as you have guessed, so you're not catering to those people and perhaps a new section of guides is needed. Not only that, but even some people that DO use Barrows frequently sometimes don't think it's necessary to use it all the time...and THAT would be another reason to not use them as a base. As I mentioned, I've read plenty of other guides that are more useful, but being the site I've been part of the longest, I do come back, hoping this site will get better. Perhaps some crew members who have been here longer than you understand that.[/hide]

Fairy Ring Code List
You're right...it's listed in the set of dud codes, although it's listed in the CENTRE MAP set already as a working code. I'm sure a crew member will get on it and fix it soon. http://tip.it/runescape/?page=fairy_ring_map.htm

link summer end (ring guide) to clue co-ordinate page.
I agree. I frequently end up looking on other sites (GASP!) when I know I have a deep wilderness trip to take...since I can use Jennica's ring before being teleblocked to safely get away by teleporting from the spirit world instead of having a level 20 or 30 restriction.

Bestiary Guide Update Suggestion
[hide=hidden by crew as off-topic no offence] There's downgradeable and there's upgradeable, but usually the "standard" is ridiculous. In MY opinion, no barrows or stuff like fury ammys should be considered "standard" set-ups. It should be stuff that's reasonable to assume a player could collect on their own without a ton of money. I also think that distinctions should be made between beginner guides for hunting monsters and then advanced set-ups for people looking to camp or whatever. When I had a metal dragon task for the first time, I looked on the site for a guide, but instead found something for advanced players. The suggested set-ups were laughably impossible in my opinion. To me, I think those monster guides should instead START with "hey, this is your first time" and then progress to have the advanced tactics (which usually include the player's own experiences anyway) added on as the afterthought...instead of the other way around. There are tons of guides out there made by players, but Tip.It seems to like to give elitist endorsements to guides written by certain players. I do know how it works. Instead, I think the focus should be on how to get by with the absolute minimum...with players getting more confident by being able to wear and use better gear and have better stats. I'm in the minority, I'd imagine...but I really think I'm right on that point.[/hide]

Dev. blog - RuneTek 5, 26 August
The slight graphic changes I noticed were in the mini-map and the water...those were immediately noticeable, as was the blur placed over the tab button. I sure would like to know what features it will have that make it worth a tab. I love that you sought out a solution and took in-game picks like that...it's a skill that will serve you well in life... Considering that Uri's always telling me that he thinks it's rainy in Varrock, there must be weather someplace in the RS universe...pity we're always missing it. I don't think that's coming in an update, but it would be neat to have a graphical option for it.

Bestiary Guide Update Suggestion
The problem I would forsee (and I already see it in Monster Hunting guides) is that not all equipment is available to all players. I think there was discussion in the past about including what type of attack styles monsters had (as you mentioned, whether it's crush or slash or whatever) and that would be great and if that's all you were suggesting, then I support that. I hate the way suggested set-ups are done here (and some of the crew might remember me expressing as much from my trainee days) because they assume certain things about the players using the guides. That's another point for another thread, I suppose...

Level 99 Combat - Assigned 44 iron drags.
I agree...even Mithril bars aren't profitable enough non-noted to care about when fighting Mithril Dragons. Pick up the bars to fill up inventory spaces before you leave, of course, but don't take them if you've still got prayer to use. Don't bother with anything but an Abyssal whip, since you already have it. If you didn't have it, some other type of sword with a stab would be good, but you have the attack levels necessary and you said you were potting anyway. A black mask would be a good investment if you'll be doing a lot of Slaying. You'll need one to make a Slayer helm later on in your Slaying career anyway. I would look through your entire inventory for Prayer boosting items if you're going through prayer pots like crazy. Here is my current best prayer boosting gear: [hide=Prayer Boost]Helm> Guthix mitre > Proselyte sallet > Initiate sallet = Helm of neitiznot = Seers' headband 3 Body> Proselyte hauberk > Initiate hauberk = Monk's robe top Legs> Proselyte cuisse = Initiate cuisse = Monk's robe bottom Gloves> White gloves Boots> Bandos boots = White boots Necklace> Guthix stole > Holy symbol = Unholy symbol Cape> Guthix cloak Ring> Explorer's ring 3 Shield> Falador shield 3 Weapon> Guthix crozier[/hide] I'd wear Initiate if you can't buy Proselyte stuff yet, even though it's equal to Monk's robe in prayer boost. Why? Because you can get away with it as melee gear before you get there or if prayer runs out. Monk's robes are terrible for dealing with melee attacks. If you can't unlock the White gloves purchase from the White Knight armoury, then you're probably out of luck there. Wear something like Barrows gloves instead (if you could afford those) or a Combat bracelet. I sometimes wear Barrows instead when Praying against monsters, just because I can get away with it. Investing in a cape with Prayer is good, but I got lucky over the months getting TT clues with Guthix vestments in it. OBVIOUSLY, you want to use a whip, but the crozier is included because it's the highest boosting item in that slot. How did I discover all that stuff? I sorted it using Tip.It's stat sorter. It's not perfect (and some features are missing from it that I'd like included on there), but I used it to sort through every type of boost and defence I have (see my blog for that). First, click on the item slot you'll be sorting through. Then click on "Prayer" in the name row after sorting for items (or use this link each time before starting). Go from the top down until you see something you own. That should be the best prayer boosting item for you. Repeat for the other equipment slots. Remember, there are trade-offs for using certain items, so make sure you can still do damage at whatever levels you have (example, using White gloves instead of Barrows gloves might not be worth the 1 point prayer boost instead of great stats that Barrows gloves provide if you can wear them).

Level 99 Combat - Assigned 44 iron drags.
Melee at his levels...and don't listen to people saying you need 10 antifire potions. That's utterly ridiculous. You are not camping out there. You have a task of 44. Just try a few out as I mentioned and see what you can handle, because everyone's style is different. Follow the tips (but not the set-ups) on the guide here on the site. You're not asking how to kill these for profit, so don't pay attention to people telling you to do it. Just kill what you have to and move on.
