  1. If I recall, the Explorer's ring 3 also 'disappeared' from the ground upon a death I suffered. It may be that all diary items are only recoverable from the NPCs that give them out.
  2. I think you missed the places where I mentioned I wasn't upset about not getting an item... I think that last part settles my question. Any more than 15 is pretty much a waste of time, apparently. I am wondering why Dharok seems to be my 'favorite' tunnel brother after doing more and more runs. It seems like it's almost every third trip is a Dharok tunnel trip. Is there a way to "reset" if I don't like it? I tried world hopping, but it doesn't seem to work.
  3. So higher kill count does matter above a certain point? It seemed like it was indicating that once you get to 9, there wasn't any point in continuing. What's a good number to shoot for in kill count? Does what I kill matter? If it matters, should I be trying to kill a certain amount to get a certain amount of runes and coins? BTW, I know getting items is random...I was more disappointed in the amount of stuff I was getting.
  4. I've been making Barrows runs and wondering if I'm maximizing my rewards correctly. First of all, I'm killing all the brothers each time I open a chest, but I'm also killing some of the creatures below to make sure my kill count ('KC') is in the double digits. [hide=Barrows Trips]1 - (~110) Chaos runes, (~260) Mind runes, 36 Boltracks, (~1000) coins (KC: 10) Dharok 2 - (~550) Mind runes, (~1000) coins (KC: 10) Torag 3 - 562 Mind runes, 153 Death runes, 41 Blood runes, 1163 Coins (KC: 11) Karil 4 - 265 Mind runes, 72 Bolt racks, Tooth half of a key, 760 Coins (KC: 12) Torag 5 - 249 Chaos runes, 39 Blood runes, 1474 Coins (KC: 16) Guthan 6 - 119 Chaos runes, 600 Mind runes, 43 Blood runes, 918 Coins (KC: 13) Dharok 7 - 241 Chaos runes, 298 Mind runes, 72 Death runes, 880 Coins (KC: 17) Guthan 8 - 131 Chaos runes, 78 Death runes, 323 Mind runes, 40 Blood runes, 1134 Coins (KC: 60) Guthan 9 - 35 Bolt racks, 130 Chaos runes, 82 Blood runes, 77 Death runes, 299 Mind runes, Dharok's platelegs (KC: 50) Dharok 10 - 38 Blood runes, 259 Chaos runes, 336 Mind runes, 118 Coins (KC:35) Guthan 11 - 77 Bolt racks, 647 Mind runes, 37 Blood runes, 954 Coins(KC: 30) Ahrim 12 - 255 Mind runes, 150 Death runes, 1668 Coins (KC: 7) Karil 13 - 41 Blood runes, 331 Mind runes, 72 Death runes, Loop half of a key, 2028 Coins (KC: 30) Dharok 13 - 81 Blood runes, 74 Bolt racks, 1280 Coins (KC: 20) Dharok 14 - 128 Chaos runes, 77 Death runes, 2588 Coins (KC: 17) Torag 15 - 821 Mind runes, 1210 Coins, Dharok's platelegs (KC: 16) Guthan[/hide] Are the rune and coin results typical? The brother I'm getting in the tunnels is after the kill count in parenthesis. My first two runs I didn't get exact results, but those are pretty good approximations (I hadn't yet decided to record my results). I'm very happy with the item rewards so far, but I know those aren't typical and a dry run could hit at any moment.
  5. I've been looking forward to a trek to the Barrows for a long time. You've no doubt read about it here among the posts on this thread. Imagine my disgust when I dig into my first mound and discover the tunnel...under Dharok's crypt! I've heard (and read, of course) how dangerous fighting Dharok in the tunnels can be. If there was ever a trial by fire, this would be it. The resulting displeasure made my first trip a long one, since I decided to make trips to the Nature Grotto for prayer recharges after almost every battle, just to make sure I didn't waste any unnecessary prayer potion (well, mix) doses. Fortunately, I prepared well. I settled on high defensive armour and the black salamander, since I've been saving harralander and swamp tar for ages, just for this kind of situation (not to mention some decent Herblore experience). I managed to kill two brothers per trip to the altar, but settled on making my way into the tunnels with low prayer, since it would deplete anyway. I encountered him after opening a door and ran like heck until I made it near the center room and boosted my 'KC' with some Crypt rats and Skeletons. It wasn't long before I finally decided to make my way into the center room and take my chances against Dharok. I "potted up" before the final confrontation and took care of business. I was still worried enough that I didn't take a picture of my victory and the "spoils" weren't significant enough to warrant a picture. That's pretty much it. I'll surely make more visits and experiment with less and less prayer, but I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to do so well with so little danger. Another song got crossed off the list and one less challenge remains for me in the realm of RuneScape!
  6. Welcome to Tip.It! As a frequent user of the guides and forums (who is NOT a crew member) I think the site could use more people looking into this subforum like you. There are many threads created for quests, so if you're about to complete one, feel free to confirm (like some of the users did on your thread) information or submit more. I'm surprised there isn't a mention about it already in the guide. If I remember correctly, there is some damage associated with partially finished statue praying, but it's still better than having to go find an altar somewhere and then trek back (if you've got the spare HP, that is).
  7. Because of the confusion about what the level should be for level 80 black bolts, I think we should eliminate my result from that list for that level. I'll continue to provide them for higher and higher levels, but someone else might need to submit a finding for 80 for black bolts. I had a notation written down and lost that sheet. I can't be absolutely sure that it's accurate. I feel terrible, but I'd rather have correct information than not. It PROBABLY was 20 as a max-hit, no? I suppose it could be 19...I just don't know anymore. It wasn't 29. That would be...amazing.
  8. Glad "we" could help! :)
  9. I'm finding less time to myself of late, which translates into less enjoyment during the short stints in gameplay I do have. A brief foray into the Ancient Caverns to try and make a dent in my Waterfiends task (my 150th, by the way) hasn't made much of a dent at all. I did try rummaging a skeleton and got another Ancient page. The one enduring task that I expect won't be completed anytime soon seems to be the upgrading of my Ivandis flail, which currently is serving a couple of purposes. First, the more I kill, the more I can burn. The more I burn, the better I get with the flail. [hide=250 Vyrewatch spirits "set free"][/hide] Not only that, but the more I burn, the more keys I collect. The more keys I collect, the more loot I find in the wall recesses of the Columbarium. [hide=201 to 250 keys in the Columbarium]Vyrewatch log 201 - 11 Death runes 202 - Grimy toadflax 203 - Dwarf weed seed 204 - 19 Choas runes 205 - Blue charm, Kwuarm seed 206 - 69 Earth runes 207 - Blue charm, Grimy lantadyme 208 - Dwarf weed seed 209 - Grimy torstol 210 - 24 Adamant arrows 211 - Gold charm, 113 Earth runes 212 - Mithril hatchet 213 - Green charm, Uncut diamond 214 - 90 Earth runes 215 - Grimy cadantine 216 - Rune platelegs 217 - Grimy lantadyme 218 - 75 Steel arrows 219 - Limpwurt seed 220 - Mithril hatchet 221 - 117 Earth runes 222 - Blue charm, 15 Adamant arrows 223 - 10 Nature runes 224 - 15 Chaos runes 225 - Irit seed 226 - 23 Adamant arrows 227 - 23 Adamant javelins 228 - 1303 Coins 229 - 101 Earth runes 230 - Limpwurt seed 231 - 71 Steel arrows 232 - Adamantite ore 233 - Black dragonhide set 234 - 7 Rune javelins 235 - 3 Grimy harralander 236 - Tooth half of a key 237 - 113 Steel arrows 238 - Irit seed 239 - 7 Gold bars (noted) 240 - 6 Rune arrows 241 - 9 Rune Arrows 242 - 13 Gold bars (noted) 243 - Grimy lantadyme 244 - 21 Adamant javelins 245 - Green charm, Kwuarm seed 246 - Irit seed 247 - Blue charm, Grimy dwarf weed 248 - Grimy ranarr 249 - Rune med helm 250 - Green charm, Grimy ranarr[/hide] The loot I'm looking for at the moment seems to be eluding me (a Snapdragon seed to help continue the While Guthix Sleeps quest), but it wasn't a completely unproductive trip. Reaching new levels is getting more and more rare, but still happens occasionally. I'll do another review of my first few pages of the blog to make sure I'm not missing any goals! Thanks! I take pride in my writing skills, even if I consider myself just an average 'Scaper! I'm going to get to it sooner or later. I just want to set myself up with a good plan and stick to it. I've been reading up on it and probably will make a trip before finishing my Waterfiends task, since I refuse to pay for the privilege of using someone else's Saradomin Godsword.
  10. Open your in-game quest guide and write us with what it says...
  11. I think creating another subforum is a bad idea. As you mentioned, it might require more work for moderators when such a small sub-section of the TIF community is asking for it and even less are interested in what those people have to say. Not only that, but places to blog already exist and a creative person could tie in their game blogs to what was going on in their real life anyway. Where is the line drawn? It sounds like at the very least it's time to draw it somewhere...and maybe even do away with some of the already existing, somewhat redundant sub-forums.
  12. Give the crew time. As a frequent poster, I know sometimes they get to something and then have to either wait for other users to confirm, or until a crew member can complete the quest. Crew members are users just like you and me, so it's not like they can go back and re-do a quest they've already done. Most of the crew (not all, but most) have finished that quest. You're probably right, and it would be useful information for someone who got stuck, but before they make a change, they'll have someone confirm it. Oh, and they do see everything. Trust me. Politeness goes a long way.
  13. i wouldn't bother...it's a hassle and they won't really sell quickly, but if you're going to keep them and use them, then you would get some cooking experience from them and have them to use. It's up to you, but I had a similar choice to make and was stuck with them on the G.E. for awhile...
  14. From drop logs on my blog, I can confirm that Death runes are indeed a "drop" from using Columbarium keys...though I only seem to get them in groups of 8...so at the moment, it seems the range of Death runes is 8-15
  15. Black Dragons maybe, but not demons... -.- yep...you're right...made a mistake there
  16. Not on the comparer, but on the sorter. If not on the main sorter, perhaps some other way of figuring out weights without comparing each item or looking up the weights on the separate item pages.
  17. (My purpose in posting this is not to discourage others from posting their own results...) I checked a number of other sites for their info and it seems as if it's different for each player. I'd very much be interested in seeing from other people who DID have the key in that place, too...although they probably wouldn't go looking for this thread to report if they didn't have a problem...that might be hard to sort out.
  18. Actually, that is untrue. My professor talked about this very subject, turns out the man who first came up with the idea that The Wizard of Oz was about the gold standard admitted it was to him, just a coincidence, and he used it to teach history to his students. Anywas, on Topic... funny find. I wouldn't believe everything professors say. In fact, all of history and much of archaeology is simply the most popular interpretations of raw data. Even if FL Baum "admitted" it to someone, it doesn't mean the circumstances surrounding his admission were such that his own words could be trusted. We don't know. None of us can say with absolute certainty.
  19. You can range them from safespots in the evil chicken's lair if you've done the required part of RFD...
  20. With high combat, cave slimes are probably best. If you don't want to battle, the "lunar isle" ship while docked at lunar isle has several barrels with replenishable spawns. It's slower, but less running than in swamps (lumby or mort myre) and lots of clicking needed...just another way of doing it though.
  21. Some safe spots were removed by Jagex and I think this was one of them. The bestiary entry probably wasn't checked at the time. The weird thing is that some people have reported that you could still safe spot him from somewhere else (the entryway?) so rather than removing safe spots, it might be that Jagex moved it, or removed one obvious one and left another. If you are still on the quest, you might try that. Either way, the crew will probably take a look at the bestiary entry.
  22. Once again, I screwed up in my consistency in an event. I really should turn my chats off while doing the circus. Next week I'll try using some "emote enhancers" like the builder's costume and lunchpail with beckon. I wonder if some of them (like the sleeping cap emote with yawn) will produce different results. 23. He hasn't started ME1 yet, so he couldn't get started on ME2, right?
  24. This week's update finally provided a new quest to complete. It didn't take long. As a result of the plentiful experience bonuses for completing the quest, I was able to gain a level in Strength, bringing me another level in something else. [hide=Combat 110!][/hide] I enjoyed the simple quest so much, I decided to get started on While Guthix Sleeps, though only until I reached the part of the quest where a Snapdragon seed is needed. I don't want to buy one off the Grand Exchange or from the NPC. I figure I'll continue with the quest once I receive one as a drop. I have yet to decide whether a trip to the Barrows is overdue. I'm a little frightened of the prospects of "getting Dharoked in the tunnels" and don't really have the room for the armour in my inventory, despite destroying a great number of saved quest items that no longer have any significant purpose. I almost forgot to mention Tears of Guthix, Penguin Hide & Seek, and Circus experience...although nothing terribly exciting happened as a result. Well, maybe one thing... [hide=Total-ly awesome!][/hide] It's strange because the best and worst part of the week is "update day" because while new content is exciting, I know I'll have to wait another week to get to see more new stuff!
  25. After completing Smoking Kills, each of the Slayer masters gives a set amount of points, and a set amount of bonus points each 10 and 50 tasks completed EXCEPT for the guy in Burthrope.
