Life isn't fair. Do rich kids live a better life?
BlueLancer replied to Viktorkrum77's topic in Off-Topic
If I could choose how I was born, I'd definitely NOT take the rich way of life. I was born into a sub-middle class family, we weren't poor but definitely not well off. Trust me, it will build your character like nothing else. Finally after I realized at age 10 or so that I can't probably have anything cool I wished for, I started saving money. Now I probably make more money than most upper-middle class people, because I'm quite well off with daytrading in stocks. But I still never would think about spending my money on stupid stuff again, at least until I built my fortune up in the millions. Also, this way I also appreciate those with less, more. I like the reaction on the street when a 'ragged guy' has a conversation with me, if I'm waiting for a train for example, and at the end I give him a $50 bill if I think he's just another good but misfortunate guy and not an alcoholised bum. It's just very important for me to help people who never had the chance to even live 'normally'. Working for your own fortune also builds your morale and judgement, at least for me. I can just look at my childhood when I was just another kid, and then look at where I'm now, and be very, very thankful. I'd never (and will never) treat a poor person inequally just because of his clothing or his fortune, I'll listen to everybody's opinions. Sadly, some of my friends with more money that grew up in rich families, have lots of prejudice against people who are 'average' or in their books, "worse". I can be their friends to some extent, but I can never truly change their attitude because they can't experience what I did. They'll never know the joy I had when I got just a simple snowglobe for a christmas present and knew it's better than nothing because my parents were still awesome to get me 'something' they could afford. -
Lol, thanks for describing my mother and father in my childhood. I'm more amazed at the 1st example though, I thought I was living in my own crazy, psychedelic world before you mentioned that this has happened to you too (the jigglypuff voice with your little brother)

Well, that's really on par with (allegedly) educated middle-class youth pretending to be disenfranchised street gangsters. It's even dumber because in some poorer countries/locations you actually have to stick together if you're young and have no future, and in order to survive there really are fights, loan sharking, carjacks, robbery, assaults etc. Then these western kids who come home from school to a place with caring parents, a plasma television, computers with broadband internet connection, cellphones, MP3 players and a fridge full of food at any given time, feel like they are mistreated so they start wearing gold chains at school and smoke cigarettes while picking on younger people and get into trouble for no reason.

Buddha and Christ were real not mythical. a centor for example is mythical.. True, it's pseudoscientific to argue Jesus or Buddha didn't exist, because they did, there is a huge amount of reliable evidence and first hand/contemporary accounts. I assume you also meant a centaur which is most obviously a mythical character. On the other hand, the stories like walking on water or creating infinite food are myths until proven true, and thus far there is no video footage or photographs of any human capable of doing so. All religions have some mythology attached to them, and many other holy scriptures describe how some supernatural people could perform incredible acts, that doesn't mean they actually happened either just because they were 'written'. Christianity is actually one of the few religions where a significant amount of followers take everything in their holy book for absolute truth. (Compare to Buddhist cosmology for example, read more here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buddhist_c ... ala_worlds a lot of buddhists I talked to don't accept those ideas purely on faith)

looking for a non professional new zealand soccer team
BlueLancer replied to alphafish's topic in Off-Topic
Hi, try checking out this. Wow, I was amazed that there are actually that many teams in Wellington (New Zealand), but pick one if you're interested. 8-) -
Fortunately for you (and everybody else) you can't overdose on sleeping pills which has been scientifically proven. I'm not sure whether I should mention that or not since I could save somebody's life by not mentioning it, but just wanted you to know the truth.

Really? That's crap, otherwise I'd have downloaded it. But the graphics aren't exactly horrible, they're much better than World of Warcraft. I'd say on par with Guild Wars or Lineage. To OP: Check out http://www.muonline.com, even if they went P2P they still have a f2p version without the fancy stuff like castle sieges. The sucky thing, though, is the fact that you get less XP as f2p. But that wont be a problem as you'll be fighting mostly free players. It doesn't have bad graphics either, and very cool armor.

I was majorly depressed at 16 when I had to change schools and I had literally no friends over there. Sure I made friends fast but it's just not the same thing, and I was absent for like weeks at a time. This may be very unhealthy advice, but what I did is just stop caring about my 'dumb' thoughts, so in that way I became emotionally cold to my weak emotions (please don't link me to some evil character test where that is one of the criterias before turning to ultimate darkness). I'm still mentally balanced and fortunately have friends now, but whenever I'm alone I just try to find something to do and don't think of anything weird anymore, it comes naturally. Like darkrick said, depression is a severe disease just like cancer. Too bad I didn't get treatment for it, but your mind plays a huge part in "curing" it (or just repressing the feeling). If you can find other activities, you could 'forget' about it.

Who is your favorite Knight of the Round Table
BlueLancer replied to Viktorkrum77's topic in Off-Topic
Bors is the one that slaughtered hundreds of soldiers on the bridge of a castle of some evil landlord, right? I'm not sure, that might've been the case in the real story. In the movie he's a very rough character though and even makes fun of his children. ..This thread made me download Medieval II: Total War demo.. Medieval times are very interesting. -

Arthur and Bors, but then again the most recent arthurian legend-influenced movie I've last seen is King Arthur  And Bors is quite a redneck too, but he knows how to fight. -
Then he pops up behind your backs and gives you both detention, and she'll hate you for the rest of her life AND you have to sit in a room for 2 hours. And her friends will probably smack you in the face with a plastic purse, which will make your face swollen, which makes your chances of getting a new girlfriend even lower, and you'll just lose money on buying anti-depressants. Think before you act.

Norse, Finnish, and Chinese mythology are probably the most comprehensive ones you can find, and some parts even contain traces of truth (though the deity-descriptions *could* be taken with a grain of salt). An interesting subject though, that's the 3 I would suggest as they are very extensive and fascinating. Relating to your second question, they all have their own creation stories too.

Yep, you're on the right trail, but there's lots more to it. I PM'ed the whole instructions to lawrencekill but of course you can have the instructions too if you actually needed it... 8-) It is the *only* way to get Mew and show *you* as the catcher, if you get it from a Nintendo event as a download it will show the original trainer as something else. May sound childish to somebody who has no idea about the games, but there is certain kind of magic in getting something in the game you aren't really "supposed" to get. Think of the godly status of Rune battle axe back when you couldn't really even have one because the only smith was making them only to a few of her close friends.

Definitely don't leave out fats from your diet. The recommended intake is stilll about 20-30% of your total diet. A-D-C-E vitamins and magnesium are very important to remain healthy. What is murder? Carbohydrates. While most of your calory intake should be from these, refrain from eating too many of these. It makes your insulin production overreact and your blood sugar will be temporarily high; when it goes down you will feel hungry even if you aren't really. Carbohydrates = sugar, white bread, potato, etc.

Soccer is awesome, I won quite a few medals when I still played it. The coolest one must be skydiving though, I seriously recommend it at some point of your life if you want to feel like you're truly alive. 8-) Edit. Sorry for bugging up the thread post count but my browser messed up

The impossible standards of society (see video)

I certainly wouldn't mind it either if you could actually photoshop your face every day you go to school or a job interview, or have hours of makeup and lighting professionals blasting the right kind of light to your face at the perfect angle all day long. Sadly you can't. The only length here is the neck of a model that's been stretched by 3 inches by a program, and in that particular video, those shoulders couldn't support her head. Should especially young people really aim for something that can't be done? -
I don't get it, how are you somebody to judge another person by their age? If the first pokemon game came out 6 to 7 years ago and you last played when you were six, you're now about 12. That's not exactly "old". Anyways, the first pokemon games aren't too bad. In fact the Red and Silver/Gold versions are very nice RPG's that are fun to play, though they are a bit "old school" in terms of graphics, but it doesn't affect the gameplay. I don't remember just about anything about the games, but if somebody wants to know how to get a legitimate Mew (hidden #151) in the Red version, feel free to PM me. 8-) It's possible without any gameshark hacks or modifying the cartridge. 6? That was not old at all. But a MAJORITY of TIF'ers are over 13. So, do you think you're too old to yell across the bus "Go Charazard! Fire Blast to The Mad Hopper Torturer Bunny Rabbit Thing!" I don't exactly get what you're after, but given the fact I'd be in a bus, yeah, I could play a video game without yelling and still enjoy it. My point was it's funny you should judge people based on their age, because at your age it's similar to an ant calling a flea "small" or a five-year old making fun of a three-year old because he's so "young".

The impossible standards of society (see video)
BlueLancer replied to BlueLancer's topic in Off-Topic
I have to agree with that. Just because you don't have a chance to show an emotion like love it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. But I still don't know why we talk about it. Went so offtopic... My mistake.. But yes, in a modern age like this, emotions can and will (in some aspects) override evolutionary traits, and even the prettiest and smartest woman in the world could fall into love with the ugliest and shortest man in the world who acts arrogant, drinks vodka all night long and doesn't even care about her. That's just how weird the human mind is when it's given enough space. And that is love, on behalf of the woman at least. It can make all of us appreciate life, act strange, murder, rob, laugh, cry... My point was that teens should throw their "crap body image" into the trashbin and realize even the models they see on billboards don't really exist. -
Lol, that was semi-lame. #-o None of the original cards are in the last hand.

I am jumping in the middle of this so the point might have been addressed and I missed it... What about the love we feel for family and friends? That has nothing to do with reproduction does it? Today, of course it does, but I'd say if we were suddenly warped to a stone-age society, there would be no such thing as "love" we'd feel for our family and friends, just an urge to protect those close to us and to be friends with those who can provide us with resources and ally with the big strong guys and give them some resources in return, i.e. "friendship" They are just insticts and are not "necessary", but in an age like this we are fortunately able to worry about other things than a giant mammoth destroying our camp. Reproduction is one of the simplest things reliant on instict. I would posit that those "instincts," or those urges to protect one another come from love - or are love. I would assert even further that you absolutely no idea what types of things people in the stone age felt and you are making a fairly large leap in logic based on something you have merely made a guess about. If you've read anything about prehistoric humans and their behavior or watched documentaries, guesses and assumptions are as good as it gets. It's fairly safe to assume that in a society where most of your time is spent on searching food and finding a safe place to live in, (and with less sophisticated brain functions) emotions like "love" can't fully thrive. You may also want to read about human behavioral ecology and it's subtopics, it is very likely no coincidence your ancestors ended up living together, or that they didn't mate because of "love". Insticts are to emotions like the sun is to the moon. If you are left out in a world where you have to fight to survive, you will only trust on your insticts to make sure your lineage stays alive; not because you love yourself. -

Haha, I remember that. Something to do with taking out creatures from the storage PC but quickly turning off the GameBoy, and when you log back in you have one in your party & one on your PC.

Do other species commit suicide because they see a standard of beauty within their species and don't know it's unattainable? It's important to know that in real life you can't walk around always with 5 hours of makeup process and most importantly, in real life you can't walk around with your body and face photoshopped. That's just asking for trouble, teens don't know you can't really look like that. In my opinion, love is nothing more than a human biological "booster" to reproduction. Just like hunger is an eating "booster". Apinagez' wife: You haven't said that you love me in a long while, it's making me sad and lonely. Apinagez: Well yes, I don't feel like reproducing, so it makes sense. When I feel like having a kid I'll tell you I love you. Well, I don't want to turn this into a mean thread, but from an evolutionary point of view Apinagez's words would be completely justified and logical. That's probably how it worked tens of thousands of years ago (though probably with less sophisticated communication) Love is just a matter of individual happiness. Happiness has no role in reproduction when the sole intention is to carry on your line of genes, and probably most of our forefathers (and mothers) most likely didn't really "love" each other.
