  1. Cheapscape ftw! too bad. FoG is/was such a good game. +1
  2. I will have to add it to my goals on the op if I do that. Might as well add all quests complete and tasks at this point right? And then max/comp capes DAMN RIGHT! You should also add max fashionscaping score :3
  3. *claps* You skilled your way to 2/4 cornets with just 1 spin a day. You sir, are my hero. I broke my back trying to get 4 and I'm P2P + 1 spin for gold P2P + daily challenges... Now that I think about it, you did a hella lot better than me...
  4. I'll just leave this here:
  5. To some extent it does. It'll cause a chain reaction due to it being Jagex' main money maker. Micro Payments just slowed this down. First off, they'll cut staff as theres less players to cater for. This will eventually lead to less content and less happy players. Less customer to buy spins and cosmetics. Less members. Then they'll cut staff again on repeat untill its just servers up with maintenance. Leaving RuneScape to be milked for its last bit money. I don't I totally agree with this statement. Using population size to extrapolate a chain reaction of events is almost as bad as using a sample size of 5 to draw a scientific conclusion, or using totally different sample population to replicate an experiment for criticism. I do agree skillers and quest players largely enjoy the game and combat minded player are adjusting. And I think we can say that PvP is dead; however, I think the jury is still out on combat as a whole consider there seems to a be a revival in terms of older players returning.
  6. Just to add to the above, if you tend to only do slayer you can get away with using a GWD set (power) or a Barrows set (tank). Also, if you still have void, that set should be enough for slayer provided you have soul split. I also hear there really isn't a difference between Dom Tower and Automaton gloves, so if you would rather save money that way, go for it. Hybrid sets outside void for slayer have very little use thanks to -15 defense penalty they carry. DKs and Tormented demons are really the only place you'd use any hybrid set, so you might be better off just switching styles. However, if you really want you should do the BOL event to buy wrapiest gear as it is currently the highest tier hybrid set, and it comes with damage reduction too. Currently the boots/glove/top/bottom is available with the helm and cape coming later. If no for the top/bottom then you should get the gloves and boots if you tend to use something like barrows gloves or if you where hybrid pieces and only top/bottom for a combat class type.
  7. Level 5 is the max F2P can train to. All the game updates: http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Update:Game_updates
  8. I bought 10 long before this blog, forgot if it got me anything. I'm sure 98% of this blog is legit luck thou, from tons of quest and challenges and spin drops. UPDATE:
  9. Except that one drink that got you the name Captain 3 Sips right? ;)
  10. [hide] No. You can stop and go off to do other things at pretty much any point. But how would a new player know this. Would they feel that had to do what they are saying. Its harder to vision how a person would first feel entering runescape. This is an example. Its odd that he went to an outside source for help. But then again he maybe a regular reddit user and is comftable on there for gaming discussion. [/hide] Not so much, at least I don't think. For me, my help would have been to turn to the all mighty Google and searched Runescape help. Hell, that's how I found about Tip it. I wanted to learn more about mining, and I didn't know how to use Jagex's site other than logging in at the time. [hide] I think that is what Sy was getting at. Tell the new player what they need to know right now, then as they explore and decided to try, say mining, an option for a tutorial appears. Very much so, to me for the initial tutorial all you really need is: 1) Moving, camera controls and world map 2) Brief overview of skills as in covering the basic types of skills (gatherer, artisan, combat, support) and what sort of things they offer 3) Basic overview of combat (classes, weaknesses, idea of abilities with emphasis on momentum) 4) Friends list, clan chats that sort of thing. Then later tutorials as you go to use a skill can cover the details of the mining process and pickaxes or w/e. [/hide] I would also like to ask, at what point should new players learn about NIS? Right then and there, or do we get them to use the default layout a bit?
  11. I don't drink much, but I'm a girl with a massive sweet tooth. As such I love "Jamaican Me Happy" and other fruity drink.
  12. I think that is what Sy was getting at. Tell the new player what they need to know right now, then as they explore and decided to try, say mining, an option for a tutorial appears.
  13. Both Tutorial Island and Troll Warzone share the same problem. They were long and made you do everything at once. That's the only problem I see them suffer from. But aside from nostalgia, I guess people prefer Tutorial Island because it didn't immediately throw you into a story you feel you need to follow. It was just "This does that, and here is some text as to why this happens and what you need it for." Also, there were no P2P skills in Tutorial Island. It's nice they have to option to allow you to skip the thing entirely, but I much prefer Sy's idea of breaking it up into chunks. An NPC comes along and you ask him where you are. He tell you you are on Gielinor, or better known as Runescape... Player: "What is Runescape." NPC: "The world, what else?" Player: "But what excatly is this world." NPC: "A world created by a god where all types of mortals live, interact and go on adventures" At that point you have a series of options where if you ask him what you can do he gives a explanation skills and moving and friends and such, then points you to try a random generated task or keep talking to him. Or you could ask him about adventures and he explains quest and/or the task system, to which he points you to your first quest, or to continue talking to him, and so on...when an individual tutorial pops up, you can view/do it or skip it and even return to skill adviser to repeat it if you want. Or at the very beginning you could tell the NPC "I think I've done this all before", to which Jagex can throw in some witty breaking the forth wall type humor, throw you a skill lamp or two as you would have gotten and send you on your way. Of course I also feel Jagex needs to do a bit better on the combat tutorial.
  14. I wish I had a baby dragon...but I need 99 slayer. Ugh...
  15. If I was being completely honest, I think if they really wanted to go for gaining new strength, Runescape would have been on mobile apps, tablets, and handles a long time ago...
  16. Wrong thread. Should be in Help & Advice. A mod will move this shortly. To answer your question, you should look to get chaotics for now and a barrows sets. Because the way Karil's work in the GE and because of your cash stack, you can reasonably only afford 1 set. If you don't already have any chaotics, you should get a chaotic staff, dual chaotic claws (unless you already have a maul), and dual chaotic crossbows. You can pick between Verac's, Karil's, or Ahrim for melee, range, and maagic respectively. For money making, you can do a mix between PvM and daily profits along with herb farming and Miscellania. Daily Profit are dependent on the amount of quest and task you have done. This is my daily profit run; note I don't have them all available to do (item J and part of I). Prices are quoted for hard task complete. A: Apples/Pineapples from Brimhaven; Free B: Battlestaves from Naff/Baba; 588k C: Broad arrowhead from 2 slayer masters ; 300k D: Essence from Cromperty in Ardougne; Free E: Flax from Geoffrey; Free F: Jack of Trades; Free G: Pineapples/seaweed from Arhein (Catherby); 240gp H: Sand from Bert; Free I: Sandstone; Free (+25 from Desert Diary) J: Tokkul from Tzhaar banker; Free K: Warrior Guild Stew; 1k L: Wicked Hood; Free M: Yak-hides; 50k Monsters I suggest you kill for consistent gp/hr. Torment Demons ~7m/hr QBD ~3m/hr with sub 5min kills Frost Dragons ~2-3m/hr Jadinkos Waterfiends ~500k-1m/hr. Alot more more drygores Once you start making money you'll replace your barrows gear with GWD sets. Also, once you get 90+ combat stats you should look to buy t90 weapons. But they are pretty expensive. For slayer void is still good especially with your 99 prayer and 96 herblore. Lastly, I recommend starting Player Owned Ports as soon as possible. It's a long term high content Miscellania. Good luck! Happy 'Scaping
  17. I still maintain the stats on these set (pre-nerf) and Dragonstone should be switched. So how many F2P players are gonna stay with this thing for 10 weeks now?
  18. For what I like to do in game, I would probably resume my semi-retired status. I'd log on for holiday events, once in a while for updates, and probably player for 3 months at a time. But unless F2P got to do all skill to 99 at reduced exp rates or far less methods, I wouldn't go full time scapin' again. However, if F2P go the slayer skill, I might be inclined to cancel my membership...might
