Post and discuss all Jagex Twitter updates here!
Atroxide replied to forestfrolic's topic in General Discussion
Atroxide: I think I know what next week's update is. Atroxide: I think its the release of Player-Owned-Shops. Atroxide: I think POS (Player owned shops) will be based in the area under the GE, there is already a ladder going down from when they placed the GE. Atroxide: On forums a Jmod said they couldn't fix the shard prices because it will interfer with next week's update Atroxide: now the only way it could interfer is if it was directly related to next weeks update (since they released patches for other things, so its not impossible to update it). Atroxide: We also know that soon players will get another tab, since they removed the summoning one 'for a better one' Atroxide: its safe to assume that it won't be a skill placed tab, since why would they remove one skill based tab to add another. Atroxide: this also goes along the dwarf storyline, think about it, not only do we know a dward quest is coming out soon, but we know they are all into business in stuff (since they have the dwarf stock exchange type thing set up) Atroxide: the jagex twitter hint is Atroxide: The wheels of #RuneScape commerce must be kept in motion, though its upkeep may not be for the faint of heart or the slow of hand... Ajd Atroxide: not to also mention that bio said that there is a new mine cart that we cant use... Atroxide: and that the mine cart area is leading east towards the GE underground area. Atroxide: coincidence, I think not. Atroxide: Also forgot to mention they updated the shop's interface to show the price of item without having to right clue value it Atroxide: since that would be necessary in a POS. -
Personalized Shops and Long-term Effects
Atroxide replied to sciencemile's topic in General Discussion
um the way you are saying it, RC will become more profitable IF you mine your own ess .. The demand for runes are going to increase since there is no unlimited rune shop. From that the demand of rune ess are going to increase, but its not going to be as much of the raise from runes. -
4th September 2009 -Machinima Competition- Cast Your Votes!
Atroxide replied to Dexek's topic in General Discussion
It was a hard decision between Excl and Line Dancer. Excl was good because it was more comical. Line Dancer was good because it was well edited, planned, and took alot of work and came out with an awesome effect. I voted Excl in the end. -
A game is no more than a time waster, what does it matter whether it requires "skill". You think that will help your career? make you go further in life? No. Shall i continue? You can use your post, swap around a few words and turn it into any game you want. A career is no more than a time waster, what does it matter whether you 'make alot of money'.You think that will help you when you die? make you go further in your after-life (if you believe in it.)? No. Shall i continue? You can use your post, swap around a few words and turn it into anything you want. and FYI, I am just trying to prove a point, I believe the whole reason of life is to enjoy it how ever you want, be it a drug addict, a hard worker, a gamer, a 'person-with-a-life', a 'person-without-a-life', etc. As long as you enjoy what ever you do. If you want to be social; then quit. if you don't then just continue playing.

Any game that has more then 1 person requires skill unless its just random, which nothing is if you're against people.(for example, there is alot of psychology involved in rock-paper-scissors despite the fact that if were against a computer there is absolutely no skill, just luck. If there was absolutely no skill in runescape, then 2 players that played the same amount of time should be the same exact level. But I have played since RSC yet there are many many people that have started after RS2 and has leveled efficiently and learned the skill of training. Even if I play more hours and train the same skills, some players will be much higher level. Back in RSclassic I met a player named 'deja vu xiii', we both were hardcore players and I soon lost touch with him (we stopped talking and later deleted each other from lists I guess), until this year I was a hardcore player, I didn't do anything else but play, I got home from school, and I RS until dinner, and then until bedtime, and did the same thing all over again. I just recently found out he got 200m exp in attack, strength, defence, and hitpoints, yet I just recently got my second 99. He is skilled in finding the best possible routes of training and using management of his time to do it in the fastest possible way. Anything that is pvp is directly dependent on 'skill'. pve,training, skilling, etc. is indirectly dependent on 'skill'. But what ever you do in RS, it does require skill in some way. I used to have this friend who was an idiot and was a total hater for the 'halo' video games, he used to always complain about me playing them and they not requiring skill. if it didn't require skill then every 1 would be 1:1 k:d ratio.

Would RuneTips like to host my Rune Ore Respawn Timer?
Atroxide replied to Atroxide's topic in Website Discussion Archive
I started working on RuneTimer V2 this week end. The current version just refreshes the page every time you add a timer or every time you re-mine or delete a timer, so I decided to learn AJAX so not a single page reload is needed. I decided to recode the whole application so it uses jQuery javascript framework. I have successfully added the ability to add, update, and delete timers without page refreshes, I just need to rewrite the timer JS class (used to show the countdown) the current one was horribly written and was my first JS code pretty much, and also I need to make it reorder the timers every time you remine, or add a new one (currently they always appear at bottom of list instead at the right time place). I should finish tomorrow. -

Apparently JaGex thinks that's the name of the game as well: I lol'd when I looked at my receipt, that alone almost made it worth paying an extra $2. That is actually from the 7-eleven you bought it at. They probably have to manually add each store item into the database. Probably some one who has never heard of RS thought it was RunEscape, and just happened to be adding it to the store's system. -
Would RuneTips like to host my Rune Ore Respawn Timer?
Atroxide replied to Atroxide's topic in Website Discussion Archive
I would PM a crew member but I am not certain which one is best to PM, or which 1 actually has the ability to make decisions, by making a topic in a forum about the website, I am most likely to get a better response. -
Would RuneTips like to host my Rune Ore Respawn Timer?
Atroxide replied to Atroxide's topic in Website Discussion Archive
Just bumping it. -
http://atroxide.com/runetimer/ Its a simple web application built in PHP, and Javascript. The purpose of the application is to easily and quickly add to-the-second accurate timers so a rune-ore miner knows when it will re-spawn and can get back to it before another miner can. When a user inputs a world number the PHP script parses the world's population and uses the formula (which is stored in a database) to figure out specifically how much time is left, and adds that time to a database table. When a user loads the page, it loads all timers that are from the IP address and fetches the times when they re spawn. A javascript function then parses that time and puts it into a timer. When the ore respawns, the user has the ability to click a "re-mine" button which will restart the timer. Or they could just delete it and add another one. There is no limit to how many timers some one can have, since all the database has to hold is a simple unix timestamp. Currently it is secured from any sort of attack, I haven't quite made error messages so you do get php errors if you try and enter a world that doesn't exist or try and exploit anything, but I could quickly add them. I am wondering if RuneTips could start hosting it so the target audience gets bigger. Any admin can feel free to PM me if you would like the source and/or want to talk to me.

Why would the end a game to make a new one? Its like expecting jagex to stop making updates to runescape because they created funorb.... Its totally different teams doing them.

Please help me get Norton Internet Insecurity Uninstalled.
Atroxide replied to k00ldud95's topic in Tech and Computers
Thanks. my computer is perpetually stuck on October 2, 2008. i'll try to fix that. So, you're telling me that you always have 78 days left in the trial.... and your computer clock is stuck on the same day every day? Wouldn't it be common sense to associate these to the same problem? The problem isn't norton, its your computer. And might I ask what specific OS you are using? (XP, Vista, etc?) -
Post Your Notepad Easter Eggs HERE ~ 10 CURRENTLY ~
Atroxide replied to Atom Smash40's topic in General Discussion
Thats an easter egg from a very old and bad videogame Search, than post ;) Not an easter egg, more like a bad translation in a rushed video game. -
You can use programmable keys yourself (Logitech G11) You don't need a G11 or any specific type of keyboard to do it. just edit the scan codes in the Reg to remap your keyboard. But you have to remember about all the idiots who can't use Google, you have to remember the majority of RS players... No, no, no... that's the noob's way out. Here's how you do it: Make a program with a global key hook, and trap all the function keys. Now, get the active window's title. If it starts with "RuneScape - the massive online adventure game by Jagex Ltd. - ", then go on to your remapping function. Here, do a switch statement and do a SendKeys for each function key you want to remap to another. Problem solved, and it doesn't mess up your entire computer. Yes, or just have jagex do it easily and allow everyone to be able to use it.

They need to have the ability to customize which f-key goes to what tab.

The reason there isn't 2 separate high scores is to make f2p get members. When ever a f2p'er realizes he is in the top 100 of f2p, most likely he won't get members just to keep that high-score. Making a table for f2p just lets them realize that even faster.

this is the [cabbage]tiest thing I have ever seen.

Because 4+ str bonus is better than 40-60+ defense bonus, duh. Yeah, everyone knows that! And obviously at the places where you don't need defence, that +4 strength really owns the +7 prayer you can get from other plates that don't take 10 hours to get. There's a few reasons I don't own a torso. Then again, I recently bought bandos, so I really can't talk. It hurt, but I'm having fun cranking out epic combos. Except a new sig soon, I missed the 75-22. I need a fire cape -.- who the hell cares? This belongs in BlogScape.....

Strength Bonus EDIT: beat me to it;
-
Well, lets see... I have been playing for around 5 years.... Thats 1825 days I have probably played an average of 3 hours a day too (Probably more like 4 hours a day, but we will just go with 3.) were looking at like 5500 hours.

No, he is doing the magic carpet emote, he did something to get that emote stuck. the castle wars gear is just the kind that you buy. I have seen something like this before, except it was swimming instead;

I think the reason the pieces are so common is because they are trying to get it to keep it at 30mil worth. I think when ever it gets under 30mil, they will reduce the drop ratio. Pretty much price manipulation (which isn't a bad thing if they started from the beginning like they are)
