I don't think I've been so worried and depressed in a few months as I am right now. One single event, on which I've pretty much based my near-term future is threatening to be a full and complete failure... Talking about my 20th jubilee. I've invited over 100 people to the event. Right now I am afraid I can't even get 25. I haven't managed to get all the funds I need to rent a place. I have planned this thing for over 2 months. It has been all I have lived for. I've lived on a diet of macaroni and fried potatoes, just to save up for the party. My best mate cannot come. I am *so* close to breaking down and cancelling the event altogether. Even though I have a few people coming specially in from the other side of the country... Oh, and did I mention, it should take place tomorrow?

I am not a Putin supporter. But Russia is yet to claim Crimea as theirs. It hasn't been said so even once. Did anyone listen to Putin's press conference last night? Was pretty interesting, if somewhat skewed. Rational talk, most of the time. Yanukovych, the reigning president (legally) officially asked for Russian aid. Nothing is purely black and white in here. Russia has nothing to win by annexing Crimea or Ukraine. Having friendly rulers or even puppets is different talk. But as I said, were Russia to annex or occupy Crimea, a bloody resistance war would begin. Right now Crimean own extreme activists are to blame.

Umm, Ukrainian parliament is still the same. They are not loonies. It is the parliament that was elected (legality is still somewhat opaque) during the previous parliamentary elections. The whole government is there only until parliamentary and presidentiary elections in May. China has officially supported Russian action. At least that is what the news coverage over here has said.

I like to drive people to the edge. Observe their reactions then. Sometimes, actually most of the time I manage to get people over the edge. I'm afraid I have alienated some people and caused myself some trouble because of that...

I've been checking the Ukrainian situation hourly for the last few days. Both sides have their points, the situation is not as black and white as the media shows. Both sides are in the middle of quite massive propaganda war. Russian soldiers are yet to fire one shot, same goes for Ukrainians. Russians have a somewhat legal reason to be in Crimea right now. And they are yet to set their foot on the mainland. Damn, now I wrote about the same thing to 2 threads... On topic - been to a few lectures and just wasted my time. Nothing special. Preparations for my birthday and messing things up.

Not really. Crimean natives, the Tatars, were deported by the Soviets so the Tatars (who are also muslims by the way) would respond violently and bloodily if Russia itself were to annex them. Right now, the situation is rather about having a separate Crimean republic (which would be a Russian puppet, but nevertheless) or having it still incorporated into Ukraine. There are lots of ethnic Russians in Crimea aswell, but not all Russians support Russian Federation and Putin, mind you. Specially in the mainland Ukraine, which was in a state of turmoil between the more Russian Eastern part and Ukrainian Western part. But noone wants Russian Federation to annex or govern, the Russians and Ukrainians would rather unite against that country would there ever be the need to.

Was out with fellow geologists. Very bad idea. Started drinking at 1 PM and didn't stop till I fell asleep. I lost my hat and gloves. Only [bleep]ing gloves.

I am gonna be having my first birthday party in 3 years next Saturday. Gonna be 20. Have booked a venue and invited ~80 people. Can't imagine what might happen. People are from very widely different backgrounds, life philosophies, relationship statuses, everything, only common denominator will be me. I don't think I've ever been to a weirder and more varied company than the one I have invited. Talks a lot about me ability to appear differently among different companies...

I liked the second Mass Effect the most. Specially the story. Disasters are killing me in Banished. I had massive stockpiles both in trading post and market and then I got 2 tornados within 2 years which took them both down with the stockpiles and I got killed. And the new Humble Bundle is epic, now that Fez is also in.

I've been following the development for over half a year and it drives me insane that I can't afford it right now. Perks of having trouble with the government...

I am not really butthurt, what drives me off this game is the supermassive hype around it. + I don't really like FPS's anyway, I have never bought a CoD. If I could afford it, I would play Banished right now, which was released today and is a super-awesome city-builder. Much more my kind of a game, yet noone hypes it or even knows it exists.

Umm, I am studying cartography and topography at the moment and just TODAY I was made sure that actually Columbus' temporaries thought the world's radius was massively shorter, so that the voyage from Portugal to East Indies (Indonesia nowadays) would be around 12 000 km's. In reality it is over 24 000 kilometres. If they had known that, they would have never gone on such a voyage. That is way too long distance, for even for this short voyage most of the crew members had scurvy.

You should just know that this little piece of shit won't be coming out on PS4, but on Xbox 360 instead. Something Microsoft exclusive deal something. There goes your next-gen. It depends. Generally should be a bit cooler during nighttime, gives one better sleep. I have changed. Started doing my homework, started eating more properly and I haven't missed a single lecture. Hope that chamge isn't temporary. Oh, I haven't bought any alcohol in over a month aswell.

An older geologist added me as a FB friend today. A dude. After acceptance, first question: if a girl asked, are you single right now? It was basically immediately after I took the friend request. I asked, who is asking and the dude replied that a tall, skinny girl with nice boobs. From the Norwegian class that I just joined and have been to just once. Turns out I have been noticed. Wow.
