Questing Rampages
Ha, I wish. Quests are easily my favorite part of the game and if I could do more of them, I would. But unfortunately, I've done them all, so no dice.

Castle Wars Improvements - Faithful Shield
I would disagree. I think its this widespread attitude that poisons the once light-hearted enjoyment that most people had with this game. Now things are such serious business. And updates are either "efficient" or not. Its a freakin game...You can take it competitively if you want. But you need to understand that this is just YOUR way of playing the game, and it is rediculous to diss this kind of an update just because using these are "less efficient" or something. The halos are cool, and fun. I like the update. For people who just dont want to buy as many prayer pots will love these. People who do nothing but formulate numbers for this freakin videogame will rage and never use them. But I dont think anyone should call them useless...I think theyre great. I could say the same rant about you. If you understand that people play the game differently, then you should also understand that there's no need to come into a thread where people are discussing efficiency and start interjecting about how the game is supposed to be fun and how we're all poisoning your light-hearted enjoyment, as if it's some big revelation and you're the first one to realize that Runescape is a "freakin game". It's rude, arrogant, and hypocritical. Nobody is infringing on your ability to play the game however you want. There's no reason for you to start trashing people just because they don't feel that a cute hat that saves a few prayer potions is worth 100 hours of their time. Fix'd. Unless someone comes up with evidence of the halos affecting the "eye" prayers or the "might" prayers, let alone Augury.... All three halos work on the ranged and magic prayers in the normal prayer book (except Augury) as well as all saps and leeches in the Ancient Curses. Making your own items instead of buying them
Thanks for completely missing the point of the rant even after it's been explained at least three times how much you're missing the point of the rant. The example in the OP is a rather poor one, though, since killing green dragons for dragon bones often is more efficient than buying dragon bones--it's pretty damn good profit on its own. A better example would be picking and spinning flax for stringing bows.

Loadscape ?
It doesn't usually bother me because I'm so used to it and it's part of the restrictions that come with being a browser-based Java game. It's a royal pain in the behind in Mobilizing Armies, though. A big part of why that minigame sucks so much.

The shunned skill capes
Skillcapes are badass-looking cloaks that you can wear if you have level 99 in a skill. That's what they are. If you automatically assume something much more than "That player has 99 fletching" of players because of their capes, you're just being dumb. I have 99 cooking. If you insult my cooking cape because you think I just got it to have an "easy 99" or something, [bleep] you, you're obviously a n00b.

Elemental Workshop IV and the Soul Altar
Probably there weren't any followers of Armadyl around. Since the fall of the Aviantese in the God Wars, Armadyl has been mostly an obscure god with very little influence on Gielinor. Anyway, despite the potential associations with the concept of "Soul" that could develop in future Elemental Workshop quests, I think it's very unlikely that there will be a Soul Altar involved. According to RS Wiki, the workshop was created by a metallurgist named Vitruvius sometime in the early 5th age. Its primary purpose seems to be experimenting with new methods of smithing magical items, not crafting runes. If there is a Soul Room behind that rubble, it'll be for Soul Bars, not talismans or altars.

New player, Starting slayer, Is there lower level "dogs"?
Level 27 Jackals in the desert count towards a dog task. You could try those.

Castle Wars Potions
Unless the Game Guide is lying to us again, it's just a normal ranged potion and a magic essence potion, which is actually weaker than a normal magic potion.

Best way to 99 strength?
If it were me, I'd grab a Sara Sword and get 99 strength on waterfiends. That oughta get you at least an iron titan to go with your strength, and depending on your method you should be able to break even on the cost of the summoning training. Or, training with slayer adds the advantage of strykeywyrm tasks, which are pretty good profit, and some charms as well. You could configure your block list to maximize strength xp, although I'm not certain which of Kuradal's tasks are the slowest for melee xp. If you haven't already unlocked the ability to craft Slayer Rings, then it's pretty much non-negotiable that you need to slay at least until you get 300 points for that. If you're only taking strength into account, then neither of those methods is going to be the fastest. But in the long-term, the benefits of a high summoning level probably outweigh the time saved unless you planned on bursting for charms later on. And as for slayer, the Slayer Hat and the additional rewards from slayer points, as well as exclusive strykewyrms, give it advantages over camping that can justify a potential loss in strength xp; in fact, if you slay efficiently and block the right tasks, the actual difference should be made up in additional profit, summoning xp, and ranged xp (from cannoning). And again, while a high slayer level is less of an advantage than a high summoning level, it's still something that should be considered. Now, if you're really not interested in anything but strength xp, I imagine you'd be best off with armoured zombies. They have good HP and low defense, they're not very dangerous, you can use a Salve (e) for a 20% bonus, they have profitable drops (including a small amount of charms), and their location immediately underneath a prayer altar allows you to constantly use boost prayers without the expense of prayer potions. This adds up to possibly the most efficient monster in the game to camp for melee xp. The Saradomin Sword is your best weapon for strength training.

Is it a good idea to switch to curses berfore turmoil?
For deflect melee, absolutely not. If you had Soul Split, there might be a decision to make, but upgrading your protection prayers is not worth losing Piety, especially against some of the bosses in Daemonheim.

Location Question
None, currently. It's just for decoration. (And it is quite a decoration, if you've ever been there!)

Lobster fishing help
That's probably too high. At only 67 fishing, you're probably looking at more like 240ish lobsters/hr at the Fishing Guild. That's only 78.5k gp/hr and 21.6k xp/hr. According to the Runescoop fishing guide, you're best off with either monkfish or cave eels. Probably monkfish.

I am not Jagex
I told you I can read minds, didn't I?
-
I am not Jagex
I am not a representative of Jagex. I'm not affiliated with them in any way and I don't have any contacts who are. I do, however, have some mild psychic abilities. And I will happily abuse them to telepathically find the answers to all the pressing questions we have for the developers at Jagex. How does this process work? Well, it's really quite simple. First, I think of a question. Then I visualize it in my mind, repeating it silently to myself fifteen times while imagining an astral projection of myself traveling across the Atlantic to Cambridge, England. Then I blank my mind for five minutes. After those five minutes, I make something up! It's that simple! I can also use the same method to see into the future. So without further ado, here's my interview featuring answers that I pulled out of my...I mean, that I telepathically obtained from the Dev Team at Jagex! Q: Why does the Dungeoneering rewards system suck so bad? A: Oh, we just didn't put enough thought into it and kinda screwed up. But now that we think about it, yeah, it does suck pretty bad. Kind of embarrassing, actually. We're looking for feedback, but we're going to be cautious with fixes because we wouldn't want to end up making things worse like we did with PvP statuettes. Q: Why do you make so many updates for low-level players? A: Support for low levels helps bring in new players, which is essential for the long-term health of Runescape. A good first impression makes a big difference. We realize that we have to cater to all kinds of players, and not every update can be for everyone; making something more attractive to newer players can simultaneously make it less attractive to experienced players, and vice versa. So we try to have a mix. We're still trying to work out the right balance; it's pretty difficult with so many projects going at once, all being completed at different times, and a weekly release schedule. So I hope you'll give us a little slack there. Q: Why did you change HP? A: Well, we had a dev blog about it. I think lots of players still don't see the point of the LP change because right now, it's just the same system, but with a disorienting change. But for us, it actually opens up a lot of space for new things we couldn't do before, like draining the Constitution stat to prevent healing, for example. So it'll probably make more sense once that stuff starts showing up on your end. Q: Can you give us a hint about a future update? A: Yes. Every Sunday, via our Twitter feed, and occasionally in Postbag from the Hedge via the Chaos Elemental. Q: What are you going to do about price manipulation clans? A: Probably something. We're not sure yet. If we change something here without really thinking it through, we might cause more problems than we solve. Q: Why doesn't the development team communicate with the players? It's always the community management people, and no offense to the community management team, but they're not very good at explaining things. A: We're busy and we get a huge volume of questions and feedback. There's just no way we could go through all of it even just to sort out the good questions, and if we picked questions at random to answer like we sometimes do in our Live Q&A sessions, we'd end up upsetting a lot of people who are confused why their questions didn't get answered when the ones that did get answered were all boring or answered elsewhere already. We do try and answer some of the most frequently-asked questions in the Recent Update FAQs we post on the forums. Yeah, it's a horrible reason. Sorry. Q: Why do some quests have terrible rewards? A: Oh, probably to err on the side of caution when we don't have enough time to properly balance anything good. Anyway, there are some people who like crap like the Body Body. Q: Why don't you beta test your updates? A: That's more of a question for Andrew Gower or Mark Gerhard. You should ask them. See, we can do this telepathically too. Q: You said you can also see into the future, right? What are tomorrow's winning lottery numbers? A: They are a series of numbers that, if you guess them correctly, can win you a large monetary prize. At this point I got bored--er, I mean, lost my mental focus, and was unable to continue, um, channeling the thoughts of British dudes. Yeah. But if you have any further questions, I'll be happy to pretend to answer them some other time.

The death of dungeoneering?
Well, congratulations, you've discovered that the rewards system for dungeoneering is a pile of [cabbage]. "Hey, instead of rewarding players for having high levels in this new skill, let's just not reward players for having high levels in this new skill! It's a much simpler solution!"

Mother Gaia: An In-Depth Manual to Farming
I think you've confused Limpwurt Roots with other flowers. It's only marigolds, rosemary, scarecrows, nasturtiums, and white lilies that protect allotments. (Potatoes/onions/tomatoes, cabbages, sweetcorn, watermelons, and all allotments, respectively.) Limpwurt roots just give you limpwurt roots when you harvest them.

Triumvirate: Who Will You Join?
Reavers aren't evil and Lords aren't good. It's more like...well, more like...here, let me quote Mark Rosewater on the Magic: the Gathering color pie. It's more like that.

Slayer Equipment
Your magic defense setup should just be the same as your melee setup, but with d'hide body and legs (which you could optionally upgrade to Karil's when you feel you can afford it). There's no real need to use things like snakehide boots.

easyiest skill to lvl 99?
I must be missing something, from what level? That seems insanely quick That's 126 hours actually, which is only ~100k xp/hr. Even at 99 hunter I only average 80-90k an hour at chins. Exp rates at lower levels (especially before 80, when you can only use 4 traps) are significantly less. 3 weeks is definitely underestimated. Most people can get it pretty easily in a month and a half though. [/hide]Thats good, but chins isn't that great unless you're in it for the money. And even then i hear the grenwall spikes are pretty decent money, as well as exp. Then there is also bare-handing those butterfly things, which i hear is good hunter and decent agility exp as well. Implings are the bomb for hunter. Hunting in Puro Puro is somewhere in the 40k xp/hr range I think (that's what I've been getting) and with decent agility and strength levels for getting around the maze it should be reasonable to expect profits approaching or exceeding 1m gp/hr.

What goes down must come up: A short blog entry about solo merchanting
I mentioned briefly in my previous entry that I had bought a Staff of Light and then sold it again at a 200k profit. As I was writing that, I realized how long it's been since I've done any merchanting on the Grand Exchange. Last time, I completely misjudged the bottom on the Amulet of Ranging's crash and never ended up reselling the amulet. The time before, I bought up monkfish when I thought they were undervalued and they proceeded to drop another 50 gp (although I did eventually make some good profit off of it in the long term). Yesterday I decided to give solo merching another shot. I pulled up the Grand Exchange "most traded" list, clicked open several items into new tabs to observe their price graphs, and selected several of them to invest a combined 18,995k gp. This afternoon, all of the items had risen. I sold back my iron bars, monkfish, raw tuna, and cosmic runes all at max, collecting a total of 19,729k gp. 734k profit; wow. So now I'm impressed, and I'm ready to get back into the game for real. I checked up on some more graphs while doing some fishing in-game. I was on the lookout for graphs like these. As I said in the title, what goes down must come up. With the Grand Exchange, any stable item is going to have a wave pattern to its price graph, and blood runes are at the lower bound of that wave right now. I'll be very surprised if they don't rebound, especially considering that pure essence jumped in price today and the two items are obviously closely linked. I ended up putting 8200k into bloods, 9825k into deaths, 2925k into clay, and 3437k into dark bows. In total, that's 24,387k I've got in the market now--more than the price of my Bandos Godsword. If all goes well, I'm definitely going to keep up this investing and flipping business; it's high time I started collecting interest on all those millions I have stored up in my bank. Once its price climbs a bit, I plan to liquidate my BGS as well; I had hoped to make some money lending it out, but it seems now like it'll be much more profitable to invest its gp value. Of course, none of this is at all a revolutionary discovery or anything. I know that lots of players have been doing this every day for a long time. Sometimes it seems like I'm always late to the party--I killed Nomad about 5 months after the quest comes out, I first started using Kuradal and getting strykewyrm tasks just last week, I only took around half a year to kill the skeletal horror and enchant my bonesack, and I still haven't done any real Dungeoneering. I guess I just have my own pace. Well, I'll probably write some more some other time, hopefully about something interesting. Until then, feel free to send me adoring fan mail. <img src='http://forum.tip.it/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='B)' />

Zamorakian Spear
I can provide at least one good source there. Here's Qeltar's experiment comparing the Zammy Spear with the Sara Sword for killing waterfiends: http://runescoop.com/html/rs_TheRuneScoopLaboratoryReport2.htm There's no dragon battleaxe there, but you've got some figures for the spear.

Priorities for buyables
You're not slaying with ranged, so 99 ranged is a low priority. Bandos and d claws are unnecessary upgrades, also low priority. That leaves prayer and herblore. I'd say Prayer > Herblore.

easyiest skill to lvl 99?
Thieving's pretty quick. Almost the same speed as cooking, takes NO starting cash, and the resulting cape is much nicer-looking. (Black trim > red trim.)

Dragon Pickaxe
The short answer is yes. The long answer is yes, definitely; the dragon pickaxe is a significant improvement on the rune pickaxe, and unless you need your money free for merchanting, there is no drawback to keeping it and selling it back later on. You'll probably even make a profit if you buy one today; the graph is at a dip right now.
